SMFH… Pennsylvania Woman Killed After Turning Down Man At Bar The family of a Pittsburgh woman is reeling after authorities say she was gunned down while trying to leave a local bar. 29-year-old Janese Talton-Jackson was killed after a man asked for her number and she turned down his advances. WVTae reports: A mother of two was killed in a shooting early Friday morning in Homewood, and a suspect who was shot during a chase was taken to the hospital and has since been released into custody, Pittsburgh police said. Charles McKinney, 41, of Penn Hills is charged with the homicide of Janese Talton-Jackson, 29, of Penn Hills. Police went to the areas of N. Lang Avenue and Upland Street after a ShotSpotter report around 1:50 a.m. had detected gunfire in the area. While there, police encountered McKinney in a silver car and made a traffic stop. Police were talking with McKinney when they received a dispatch that a woman had been shot in the area. According to police, MicKinney sped off when he heard this. Police chased him through Homewood and fired at him just passed the intersection of Frankstown Avenue and Oakwood Street. He was then taken into custody. Investigators said McKinney attempted to talk to Talton-Jackson inside a bar but she declined. McKinney then followed her outside and shot her. Janese’s murder is adding to the calls for men to stop the dangerous practice of street harassment. Women have a right to say “no” and not be faced with violence or retribution. Most of us would say that being an adult requires you to multitask at an intense rate… To accomplish everything, you have to be able to know when to laser in and focus. But what if you’ve struggled to do so, and have struggled for as long as you can remember? For a 66-year-old woman named Cathy Fields, it was so bad that she couldn’t even follow basic conversations with her friends. She told NPR in the piece “Losing Your Mind? It Might Be Undiagnosed Adult ADHD,” “I could sense something was wrong with me. I couldn’t focus. I could not follow.” What she initially believed to be diminishing brain function (dementia) or a stroke when she went to the doctor was diagnosed as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)… according to the John Hopkins School of Medicine’s Dr. David Goodman, more individuals over 50 are being diagnosed with ADHD, which they didn’t realize they had had symptoms of since childhood… [ MadameNoire ] Looking For A Simple Way To Invest & Save Money? This App Is For You … Recently, I came across one of Power 105.1’s Breakfast Club interview featuring Stacy Tisdale and Sirita Wright from Black Enterprise Magazine, who discussed various financial matters and gave advise to watchers and listeners. As expected, the topic of savings popped up, to which they recommended an app called Acorns. Basically, what the app does is automatically invests your spare change from debit and credit card transactions by rounding up to the next dollar on all purchases. Once the roundups reach $5, it withdraws the money and invests in a personalized stock portfolio, CNN Money reported. The fairly new app, which is the first of its kind, is great for achieving both short-term savings goals and building wealth, according to Investor Junkie. “People generally associate investing with lots of dollars,”Jeff Cruttenden, co-founder and CEO of Acorns told CNN. “Once [people] find out that you can invest spare change, it’s a really attractive concept.” [ MadameNoire ] Nick Cannon Drops Spoken Word Poem On Racism, Oscars, & More Nick Cannon has weighed in on the #OscarsSoWhite struggle with a spoken word poem. The Chiraq star is of course known as a “renaissance man” working as a host, producer, actor, comedian, etc. That said, he’s apparently against the machine that is show business (money is his motivation, as noted in the poem). Cannon recorded a two-minute black-and-white video rocking a beanie and a vest, sitting on steps. He spits on various topics including racism and police brutality, name-dropping Tamir Rice and Sandra Bland, among others. Some of his more interesting lines include comparing Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X to Magic Johnson and Bill Cosby. “The black plague, they want us to catch it” he spits. “Just ask Magic, Martin, Malcolm, Muhammad Ali, Bill Cosby…” [ HipHopWired ] Barack And Michelle Obama’s First Date Story ‘Southside With You’ Premieres At Sundance [ Vibe ] Cam Newton — Dabbin’ In the Club … After Crushing Cardinals [ TMZ ] Ava DuVernay Wants You To Stop Using The Word ‘Diversity’ [ HuffingtonPost ] Kourtney Kardashian Reveals Whether She’s More Than Friends With Justin Bieber [ StarPulse ]

Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez have gotten goofy on Instagram. The best friends hung out together on Friday, poking a bit of fun at Swift’s most recent music video by hanging out in some shrubbery. “Are we out of the woods yet?” the 26-year-old solo artist cleverly captioned the above photo of herself standing in the bushes with Gomez. This is a reference, of course, to Swift’s Out of the Woods music video , which premiered in December and which finds Swift doing battle with the elements… as well as with some wild animals. At one point, Swift is running through the forest while being chased by wolves. She makes it out okay, however, have no fear. The action later shifted to Gomez’s Instagram account yesterday, as evidenced by the picture above. Selena shared it with her millions of followers and wrote as another cute caption: “Are we in the clear yet?” Gomez, of course, was one of numerous female celebrities to take part in Swift’s Bad Blood music video , as she and Taylor have been extremely close for years. Other members of Taylor’s famous Squad may come and go, but she and Selena are for life. “I can’t believe it’s been 7 years since we met!! I love you so much, always,” Swift wrote to her fellow singer upon the occasion of Selena turning 23 years old last July. Talk about #FriendshipGoals, people. Talk about some serious #FriendshipGoals.

Couple Loses $52 Million Due To App Glitch One UK couple’s 2016 is already off to quite a rough start . What should have been the windfall that changed their lives turned into a “better luck next time,” and all because their app wouldn’t refresh properly until it was too late… via HuffPost : A couple in the U.K. was reportedly denied $52 million in winnings due to a faulty smartphone app. Instead of ringing in the New Year with their 35.4 million pound windfall by choosing all six winning numbers, grandparents Edwina and David Nylan of England are nursing a hangover of missed fortune. When Edwina called the U.K. lottery to claim the jackpot, a representative told the pair they had entered the drawing too late. “We’ve tried to have a laugh about it but we’re completely distraught,” Edwina told SWNS. “We’ve spent years paying out for the lottery and this money could have changed our lives. We feel like we’ve been cheated out of it.” The couple said they used a cell phone app to purchase a ticket on Dec. 23, SWNS reported. When they were alerted that their account required more funds for the purchase, they added more money. Then they bought the ticket with six numbers they chose randomly, and the app confirmed the buy, they said. But lottery officials say they have no record of the purchase. Authorities reportedly confirmed they have a record of the couple repeatedly trying to add funds as the 7:30 p.m. drawing limit approached — but assert they did not register a completed transaction before the deadline. The payment was eventually processed, but not until midnight, on Dec. 24, way past the deadline, the Mirror reported. YIKES. We have to admit, that sounds like a seriously tough loss to get over. If you watched Keeping Up With the Kardashians Season 11 Episode 7 last night, then you know Scott Disick unexpectedly dropped by to throw himself a pity party. Scott Disick Tearfully Apologizes to Kardashian Clan: WATCH! Granted, Scott has had a pretty rough time over the past year, but he brought most of it on himself, so he shouldn’t have been surprised when the ladies of the Kard clan didn’t rally around him for a group hug. Of course, even though Kourtney’s the one Scott cheated on and generally treated like crap for a decade, Khloe was, as always, the most outspoken of the sisters during their sit-down with the Lord. Khloe must have known how much fans would enjoy seeing her tear into Scott, because she live-tweeted last night’s KUWTK – and roasted the dude even more on Twitter. “I hate people who play victim,” she tweeted during the emotionally-charged scene. “Take accountability people. Own your actions.” Khloe when on to praise her own stare-down tactics, and she eventually realized that she was only one to dish out the trash talk that Scott so richly deserves: “Why am I the only one talking?!” Khloe tweeted. “I’m just noticing that no one said anything but me. Ha! I guess when you date 1 of us you date all of us.” That may be true – but you should probably let the woman who actually dated Scott get the occasional word in, too. Watch Keeping Up With the Kardashians online at TV Fanatic for more of Khloe’s sass and Scott’s sad-sack routine. View Slideshow: 11 Times Khloe Kardashian Taught Us The Value of Tough Love
A few hours after the confirmed death of Craig Strickland , the singer’s wife has taken to Instagram in order to pay tribute to her late husband. She has also provided new details about his passing. Strickland, the frontman for Backroad Anthem, had been missing for seven days after he and a friend went duck hunting last week in Oklahoma. The body of Chase Morland was recovered soon afterward, with everyone assuming the same fate had sadly befallen Strickland. Following the discovery of Strickland’s corpse on Monday, it has been confirmed that the two men were killed when their boat got caught in a winter storm and eventually capsized. “We can finally rest knowing that he is at Home in Heaven with his Father,” Helen Strickland wrote on Instagram. “The night of the accident he had fought his way out of the water and up a hill before the stages of hypothermia set in. He experienced no pain in his final moments and simply felt like he was falling asleep.” Strickland’s wife went on to say that her husband’s body was found “lying in the shape of a cross.” She took comforting in knowing “he saw Jesus at that moment,” expressed gratitude to all who have reached out over the past week and concluded: “There was not a more peaceful way for him to go into the arms of our Lord, and I know your prayers had a role in making that happen. “I love you with all my heart Craig Michael.” We send our condolences to Helen and all of Craig Strickland’s loved ones. Craig Strickland – the musician best known as the lead singer of country band Backroad Anthem – has been found dead. Strickland went missing during a hunting trip with life-long friend Chase Morland on December 27. After Morland’s body was found near the capsized boat that he and Strickland had been using to hunt ducks near Ponca City, Oklahoma, officials began to fear the worst. Details are scarce at this time, but early reports indicate that Strickland’s body was eventually found several miles from where the boat was overturned. According to weather data from the area, Strickland and Morland would have found themselves in a severe winter storm with winds of up to 45 miles per hour and windchills as low as 15 degrees. The friends seemed to have some idea of what they were getting into, as Morland posted the following ominous tweet just hours before they departed: “In case we don’t come back, @BackroadCRAIG and I are going right through Winter Storm Goliath to kill ducks in Oklahoma.” An Arkansas native, Stickland lived in Fayetteville with his wife, Helen Wisner Strickland, whom he married in 2014. Strickland was a larger than life figure in his hometown, a phenomenon he addressed in the lyrics to “Small Town Fame,” a 2013 single he penned that eventually reached the number 24 spot on the iTunes country chart. Some of the biggest names in country music have already expressed their condolences to the Strickland family on social media. View Slideshow: Celebrities We Lost in 2015
