Fashion Face-Off: Jennifer Lopez vs. Kourtney Kardashian

Dear Kourtney Kardashian: We at THG have constructed a celebrity fashion store . You may want to check it out. We make this suggestion because the reality star has been involved in as many Face-Offs as anyone in Hollywood. She’s taken on Rihanna, Shenae Grimes and her own sister multiple times. Heck, she even dressed like Aubrey O’Day once. In other words, Kourtney needs a new wardrobe. We hope she follows the link above and shops for one. Most recently, Kardashian donned the same Diane von Furstenberg dress as Jennifer Lopez stepped out in last year. You know how this works by now: study the images below and then sound off in our poll… Who looks better in this dress?

Eclipse First, Scary Look: Xavier Samuel as Riley

It may have been the coolest moment in the recently-released second trailer for Eclipse : Victoria’s army of vampires emerges from the water and gets into line behind Riley. New Tiger Woods Nike Ad: Brave or Shameless?

Nike’s new Tiger Woods ad – released just hours before the golfer’s return to the sport at The Masters – is a confessional, solemn and emotional commercial. It’s also an ad from a sponsor that pays him eight figures a year. Tiger himself says not a single word, but his melancholy stare speaks volumes. His late father, Earl Woods, narrates with excerpts from a previous interview. With the golfer stoic in black and white, Earl’s voiceover says: “Tiger, I am more prone to be inquisitive, to promote discussion. I want to find out what your thinking was. I want to find out what your feelings are, and … did you learn anything?” Words that come to mind include “moving,” “strange,” “creepy,” “bizarre” and “genius.” It may be a little of each. Nike is clearly seeking to humanize its poster boy, but is this a tactless way of doing it? Is it really just a means of salvaging its own brand? Check it out below and see what you think … Earl and Tiger Woods

Sony’s Promises Less Arrogance

According to Sony’s SCEA VP of Marketing, Peter Dille, the company is not going to be arrogant anymore… or, more accurately, it’s marketing and advertising for the PlayStation 3 will shy away from arrogance. Like remember those weird PS3 ads with the baby in the white room? We’re probably not going to be seeing more like that.

Gears Of War Movie Grinding To A Halt?

It looks like there’s big trouble for the Gears of War movie. According to an L.A. Times blog, the film has had its budget slashed, its director (Len Wiseman) is reportedly turning his attention to another project and may not be involved at all when/if the film hits the production stage, and the film’s producers are looking for new writers to handle a stripped down version of the story. The movie’s official release date of 2010 is looking increasingly unlikely. Originally, the movie was planned as a sprawling, $100 Million epic, but the new Gears (if it happens) will be a more modest flick. As the L.A. Times points out: Video game adaptations have a unique way of coming about. At the beginning stages, the projects tend to have a huge amount of “Heat.” It’s an easier sell in Hollywood to be able to show development people an established property with a built-in fan base than to take something totally untried and try to raise $100 million bucks on it. But the problem comes in when Hollywood actually tries to make the picture. Video games are, almost always, based loosely on movies and movie genres (How many reviews have you read that called a game “cinematic?) so making a game movie is essentially like making a movie version of something already based on a movie, which may be too derivative even for the modern film industry. Some kinds of stories lend themselves to games and not movies (and vice-versa) so putting together a good movie based on game presents perhaps insurmountable difficulties. It’s also hard to make a movie based on a video game because we like to play video games. You can’t play a movie and no one has found a way yet to make a movie feel like a video game — it might be impossible. As history has shown us again and again, movies based on games suck, but Gears could be the exception. Personally, I

American Idol Stars of the Week: Crystal Bowersox on "Bobby McGee," Lee DeWyze on "The Letter"

The 11 finalists all gave it their best shot, but performances by Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze stood out the most on Tuesday night’s American Idol . Showing why she’s been a favorite to become the ninth American Idol winner since her first audition, Crystal channeled her inner Janis Joplin last night. Bowersox’s performance of “Me & Bobby McGee,” mentored by none other than Miley Cyrus, is even being called better than the original by some fans. That may be a stretch … or is it? Check it out and see … Crystal Bowersox: Me & Bobby McGee Once again, socks were knocked off by Crystal Bowersox . Some weeks, it’s like she’s in a class by herself and everyone else is angling to be runner-up. Lee DeWyze held his own Tuesday, however. In one of the night’s top covers of Billboard #1 hits, the Chicago product rocked the Box Tops’ “The Letter.” Follow the jump to see Lee’s performance of the song … Lee DeWyze: The Letter What do you think?
