United CEO Issues Ridiculous Apology for Passenger Assault

With the entire free world slamming United Airlines for its treatment of a passenger who refused to give up his seat on Sunday night, the company’s CEO has come out, issued a statement… … and made the situation even worse. First, it’s worth revisiting the disturbing incident that has caused United to go negatively viral for the second time in just a few weeks: Not long after United denied flight entry to a 10-year old girl in leggings , the airline overbooked a flight yesterday from Chicago to Louisville. For some reason, it allowed all ticketed passengers to board, prior to offering $800 to anyone willing to change his or her plans and take a later flight. After receiving no volunteers, United randomly chose four individuals… but one man still refused. He said he was a doctor and he had patients scheduled for Monday morning and he simply could not reschedule these appointments. But the airline wasn’t having it. Employees actually contacted members of the Chicago Police Department, who arrived on the scene and violently dragged the man off board. Because this is 2017, the incident was captured on camera and the footage uploaded to Facebook, where it has been viewed close to one million times. United spokesman Charlie Hobart told People Magazine soon afterward that the flight was overbooked and officials asked for volunteers to give up their seats. Which we’ve been over already, of course. This is (somehow) standard operating procedure for an airline. But instead of increasing the amount of money offered to passengers until they had four actual, willful   volunteers, United bloodied and bruised a man who had paid for his seat as cops dragged him off a plane to which he had every legal right. “When we didn’t get the number of volunteers we needed then we had to follow Department of Transportation procedures and ask that customers, four of them, exit the aircraft,” Hobart said, adding: “One customer refused to do that after we had explained the situation and apologized and let that customer know what we were gonna do on his behalf to get that customer to where he needed to be. “He still refused, at which point we had to involve the Chicago Police Department.” United CEO Oscar Munoz has since issued a statement of his own via Twitter, one that makes the airline look even more insensitive. “This is an upsetting event to all of us here at United,” Munoz wrote. “I apologize for having to re-accommodate these customers.” “Our team is moving with the sense of urgency to work with the authorities and conduct our own detailed review of what happened. “We are also reaching out to this passenger to talk directly to him and further address and resolve the situation.” You want to address and resolve the situation, Mr. Munoz? We don’t think talking will accomplish this goal. Look for a lawsuit to be filed any day now and for the passenger to settle with United for a cool eight figures. At minimum. In response to this unfortunate situation, a number of celebrities have jumped online to express their shock and consternation. Among the most memorable Tweets so far: Billy Eichner : Jet Blue’s new slogan – extra leg room and we won’t physically drag you down the aisle screaming in pain. Joss Whedon : Getting on a United flight this morning. Excited to, I don’t know… stay on? For the comfort and safety of the other passengers, please remember we will be resorting to cannibalism BY GROUP NUMBER. Chrissy Teigen : Cannot wait to use ‘i will re-accommodate your ass’ in my next fight. Mark Cuban : This is appalling. Sickening to treat people in such a way. Definitely time to boycott #unitedAIRLINES. View Slideshow: Passenger Live Tweets Greatest #PlaneBreakup of All-Time

You Can’t Be Serious: Cop Who Killed Paul O’Neal Feared He Was Unarmed, Told ‘Don’t Worry, He Was In A Hot Car’

Chicago Police Department SMH, these trigger happy cops are so ready to cut down a Black man’s life that they’re shooting at each other. Body Cam Footage Seems To Show Chicago Police Fired First, Paul O’Neal Was Unarmed Despite conveniently capturing everything but the fatal shot that killed Paul O’Neal after a car chase through Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood, The Chicago Tribune reports that police body cams may have recorded just enough to show just how few f—s were given in this latest wrongful police shooting. In the minutes following O’Neal’s death, the officers involved realized that not only did the teenager not fire at police before crashing the stolen Jaguar he was driving; he may not have had a weapon at all. In fact: the officer who shot O’Neal in the back sounded worried about how the shooting would be judged. His sergeant was unbothered, though. The officer who believed he had fired the fatal shot initially thought shots had been fired at his police car from the speeding Jaguar when it actually came from officers down the street shooting toward the Jaguar. While the body camera attached to the uniform of that officer did not capture the fatal shot, a video showed that the officer’s body camera was operating after the shooting and was still recording when police processing the scene asked him to walk through the backyard where he fired his gun and help them find the shell casings. A sergeant asked whether the shots fired at the officer came from the rear of the yard, but the officer told him the shots fired in his direction happened back on the street moments before the stolen car chase ended in a collision. “No, the shots were coming at us when the car was coming at us,” the officer said before describing how he ended up in the backyard chasing O’Neal on foot. “I took off this way, he was coming over this way,” he said, indicating different sections of the backyard. “When I approached this, I didn’t know if he was armed or not.” As seconds passed in the backyard, the officer grew distraught and feared that it would be judged a bad shooting. “Man, this is so f—– up, man. I don’t want nothing to happen to that f—— guy, dude,” he said to the sergeant. “The way s—‘s going man, I’m going to be f—— crucified, bro.” At that point, the sergeant sought to reassure the officer, citing the car theft as justification for what happened. “Relax, he was in a hot car. Nothing to worry about.” With this much proof of wrong doing, do you think the officers involved in this case will actually serve some time?

Runaway Teen Sweethearts Found, Safe and Sound After Two Weeks

A nationwide search has ended for a 14-year-old boy and his 13-year-old girlfriend who fled their Michigan homes in his parents’ car nearly two weeks ago. Braxton Wood, of Clare, and Jayden Thomas, of Mount Pleasant, Mich., were found Sunday in Chicago following a huge manhunt in the past 13 days. Missing Teen Lovers Found Safe Chuck Foreman, founder and CEO of the Center for Search and Investigations, confirmed the discovery and the fact that both teens are safe and sound. Sneaking away from their homes and families on the morning of August 26, Wood and Thomas set out in the boy’s mother’s black 2005 Ford Explorer. The duo had been dating six months and were due to start their freshman year at different high schools. Their parents reportedly would not let them be together. They briefly broke up because of that, then took off for parts unknown, gaining national headlines and even the ” Michigan Romeo & Juliet ” moniker. Foreman, whose non-profit missing children search organization had been assisting in the hunt for the teens, said they were located Sunday morning. A Good Samaritan who heard about the case spotted the couple’s broken-down vehicle in a Chicago-area neighborhood and notified local officials. Sgt. Tim Edeling, of the Chicago Police Department, told ABC News that it is believed the teens drove directly from Michigan to the Chicago area. They had been living in the SUV, “going to the local Starbucks and enjoying our lakefront,” he said. Foreman said he is “very happy” for the teen’s families. “A lot of times these children are not found safe,” he said after the rescue. “We are glad someone actually spotted their vehicle and made a call in.” Michigan Romeo & Juliet
