Jesus Take The Wheel: Teen Grandson Of Chicago Congressman Danny Davis Murdered Over “Gym Shoes”

Congressman Danny Davis’ Teenage Grandson Murdered Over His Shoes In Chicago Greiving grandfather and U.S. Congressman Danny Davis lost his 15-year-old grandson, Jovan Wilson, over “gym shoes and clothes” during a home-invasion at his residence in Chicago last night according to ChicagoTribune . Another tragic instance of a young person losing their life in the embattled city. “He was a typical 15-year-old,” the congressman said. “He liked basketball. If you listened to him he was a basketball star, but he liked basketball and music. All those kinds of things. He was an avid sports fan, he knew all about, you know, the stats of different players.” Two teens, 15 and 17, boy and girl respectively, broke into Davis’ south side home where Jovan, his 3 siblings and an uncle were. Police say the teen assailants targets Jovan and wanted his sneakers (at the risk of being irresponsible, no one would be surprised if these were Jordans). After a brief argument, the 15-year-old boy pulled a pistol and shot Jovan in the head. He was pronounced dead on the scene. “Initially it was that he had been shot and then actually the police commander called me and indicated that, there during a home invasion, he had been shot and it didn’t look good,” Davis said. “Immediately I simply left and came out to the area where it had taken place,” Davis said. “It’s totally disconcerting.” In speaking on the gun violence in his city, Davis revealed a heartbreaking truth: “I guess that I always knew that the possibility existed that it could happen close to me,” Davis said. “As a matter of fact, I thought it was so unfortunate because Jovan had just reached a point, 15, his grades had improved at school. His father had just told me about how proud of him that he was because he was catching on and realizing that all of his life was in front of him.” R.I.P. Javon Wilson. He lost his life over some f**king shoes. We gotta stop this s#!t. Image via U.S. Gov’t

Former Cop Who Killed Rekia Boyd Seeking Disability; Claims He Suffered PTSD From Shooting

Aside from the massive injustice of getting away with murder, what really bothers me most about a lot of the people who gun down young Black men and women and get away with it is that after the fact, quite a few continue to test their luck. They stay in trouble, make bold comments, or in the case of individuals like Dante Servin, the former Chicago cop who killed 22-year-old Rekia Boyd, try to make money off of it. Servin wants to be paid disability by the city and claims that he has PTSD from the crimes he committed. Kenny Chesney is finding that out now. Beyoncè gave the world more evidence of why she is the best at what she does at last night Country Music Awards. It was announced just hours before the show that she would be performing her folk and country inspired song “Daddy Issues” from the Lemonade album. She was joined on stage by country trio the Dixie Chicks for the show-stealing performance. It was assumed going into the show that country music purist would frown upon Bey performing at the show. But it seemed like everyone in the crowd enjoyed it, except for Kenny Chesney. 108-Year Old Cubs Fan Celebrates World Series Title

By now, you’ve probably heard: The Chicago Cubs won the World Series title on Wednesday night. Or on Thursday morning, to be specific, considering how long the 10-inning, rain-delayed affair took. But that was nothing for an endless array of Cubs fans around the country, many of whom had waited decades to see Chicago finally fly the final W of the season. Chicago Cubs Fans React to World Series Win The scene outside of Wrigley Field (above) was pretty chaotic and incredible, filmed just moments after the game’s concluding out. But it wasn’t especially personal, not compared with some of the other footage and photos that have been circulating around the Internet. Consider this 81-year old, for example, who wasn’t even alive the last time the Cubs won the World Series in 1908. Check out his reaction to this historic victory: 81-Year Old Cubs Fan Celebrates World Series Title Or take the case of Hazel Nilson, a 108-year old Chicago supporter who has gone viral due to the way she was “praying for a miracle” in the late innings of Game 7. And when that miracle actually occurred? YES BABY! And that’s the thing about sports. Are there more important things in life than the outcome of a baseball game? Of course. But there are very few things in life that bond people together in this kind of way. It can be a matter of tens of thousands of strangers rallying around a common cause and putting aside their other differences for a few hours. Or it can be a matter of parents and their children who have forged connections over their shared rooting interests that would have been difficult to forge in any other way. Just look at the photo below. It depicts Cubs fans last night who scrawled the name relatives that failed to live long enough to see the Cubs finally rule the baseball world. Pretty amazing, huh? Plus, come on: when else can we all rally around the one and only Bill Murray?!? Did the Cubs win last night? Yes. But in a way, we were all winners. Chicago Cubs Win First World Series In 108 Years

He goes out a champion. #FlyTheW pic.twitter.com/Wu8b64RbCI — Chicago Cubs (@Cubs) November 3, 2016 Chicago Cubs Win First World Series In 108 Years Some sports fans/gamblers out there just won WADS of cash on this one… The Chicago Cubs FINALLY won the World Series after a 108 year-long drought …managing to beat the Cleveland Indians 8-7 in 10 innings. Via ABC7 : Next year is here. At exactly 11:47 local time, the Chicago Cubs won the World Series that has eluded them for 108 years. Fans who packed bars to watch the games on television near Wrigley Field – neither of which existed back in 1908 – erupted in cheers before swarming onto the streets just before midnight Wednesday to celebrate in the shadows of the statues of Cubs greats Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, Ron Santo and legendary announcer Harry Caray. As the game ended, the roar from inside the bars and the throng of fans on the street was deafening, before the crowds both inside and out sang “go Cubs go” at the top of their lungs. Wow…their first win since 1908? Many people lived and died never getting a chance to see their team make it. (Sports) miracles do happen! We are certain our Chicago folks are wilding out right about now… Twitter/MLB
