We’re positively engorged with excitement here at Skin Central, because this Friday we’re bringing you our exclusive skinterview with the ultimate Swedish sexpot, Christina Lindberg ! We met Christina at the Flashback Horror Weekend in Chicago, and from that meeting we can tell you two things: 1) her Swedish accent is adorable, especially when she says the word “wolves” and 2) she was clothed at the time, but as far as we could tell, NOTHING has changed in the figure department. She was more tan than we remembered, but that bangin’ bod is still very much intact. In honor of this Scandinavian goddess of skin, we’re profiling some of Christina’s most famous performances this week on the Mr. Skin blog. Join us after the jump for Christina’s adventures in Japan…1973’s Sex & Fur y !
Bride-to-be Sherri Shepherd shared all the events leading up to her Chicago wedding this Saturday via Twitter this week. Sherri was joined by fellow celebrity friends Elizabeth Hasselbeck and Niecy Nash among others. Both Hasselbeck and Nash will be bridesmaids and Nash, who is also a newlywed will walk in the wedding with her new husband Jay. Check out how Sherri spent her last single moments: It’s been a whirlwind couple of days in the Windy City for bride-to-be Sherri Shepherd. The 44-year-old View cohost spent Thursday afternoon taking wedding portraits with her future husband Lamar Sally at Navy Pier in Chicago. Though she was dressed in a white gown, it won’t be the one she wears when she walks down the aisle Saturday. “Just put that on to do personal shots with Sal,” Shepherd tweeted. “You think I’d let him see it so soon?” The following night, the future spouses were joined by Elisabeth Hasselback, ESPN’s Tim Hasselback, Community’s Yvette Nicole Brown and Clean House’s Niecy Nash for dinner at P.F. Chang’s. Later that evening, Shepherd was sitting in her hotel room “when all of a sudden my bridesmaids burst into the room with their own footed pajamas.” “Just had the most amazing bachelorette party with my bridesmaids,” Shepherd tweeted hours later. “Much food, laughter and love in this room. Can’t wait to open my gifts!” Late Friday night, Shepherd posted one final tweet before her big day. “Going to bed now. Sal is in his suite. My last day as a single woman,” she wrote. “Thank you Jesus for being in the midst of all this. Gotta get sleep!” Aw… Can you feel the love? ‘My Body’ rockers join lineup that includes Adele, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown on August 28. By Gil Kaufman Young the Giant Photo: Stephen Lovekin/ Getty Images MTV has a history of providing up-and-coming acts with a huge stage at the annual Video Music Awards . In recent years, everyone from Nicki Minaj to the Polyphonic Spree, Daddy Yankee, Keri Hilson, Wale and B.o.B have made major splashes at the event. This year, it’s Young the Giant’s turn. The California rockers, who’ve scored a pair of alternative radio hits with “My Body” and the charging rocker “Cough Syrup,” will make their VMA performance debut on August 28 when they take the stage at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The group, whose self-titled debut was released in January, has already been featured across the MTV universe as a “Push” artist and as one of mtvU’s Freshman 5: Top 5 Bands for Summer. “We are extremely excited and absolutely honored to be asked to perform at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. It will be without a doubt, a monumental experience for us and one we will never forget,” the band said in a statement. “We’ve watched countless VMAs, and to have the opportunity to perform this year alongside some of the biggest artists in the world will be truly amazing. We can’t wait!” After gaining notice in 2009 by winning a contest to open for Kings of Leon, YTG will bask in their brightest spotlight to date, joining the list of previously announced performers Lil Wayne, Adele and Chris Brown . Additional performers and presenters will be announced soon. The five-piece’s “My Body” video has become an online sensation, racking up more than 1.3 million views on YouTube and appearing on MTV’s “Teen Wolf,” among other places. “Young the Giant is one of those bands you see live for the first time and walk away a superfan wondering when you can see them again,” said Amy Doyle, executive producer of the 2011 VMAs and MTV’s executive vice president of music and talent. “We are excited to give them our biggest stage and introduce them to a global audience of music lovers.” The band, which has been hitting the road hard over the past year with everyone from Minus the Bear to Neon Trees and Incubus, will play at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago this weekend. The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live on Sunday, August 28, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT. What part of the game is this?!? A north suburban man pleaded guilty Tuesday to posing as a doctor to buy a deadly neurotoxin that comes from sources including puffer fish, which he intended “to use as a weapon,” according to the U.S. attorney’s office. Edward T. Bachner, 38, was arrested in 2008 following an investigation spearheaded by the FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force that culminated with special agents in biohazard suits raiding his Lake in the Hills home. He was charged with illegal possession of the puffer fish toxin in amounts larger than necessary for research or other legitimate purposes. In 2009, Bachner was charged in a superseding indictment that accused him of scheming to murder his wife in order to collect $20 million in life insurance. In the plea agreement, Bachner concedes that he planned to collect on a fraudulently purchased $20 million life insurance policy on a person identified only as “Individual A.” Tetrodotoxin, a powerful poison, is produced naturally in puffer fish, a delicacy in Japan. While medical treatment can reduce its effect on the human body in some cases, there is no way to halt the respiratory paralysis and other symptoms associated with tetrodotoxin. How did this guy manage to get the poison in the first place? Posing as a Dr. Edmund Backer, Bachner placed an order for 98 milligrams of TTX in 2008, according to the plea agreement. When the company, a medical and chemical products distributor, informed him that such an amount was not available, Bachner requested that more be shipped to him when it became available, according to the plea agreement. “That’s a ton,” said Dr. Frank Paloucek, a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago who is an expert in toxins. “He was buying enough to kill 98 people.” Bachner is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 8. He could face a maximum combined sentence of life in prison and a fine of up to $750,000. Maybe he was planning on collecting some other people’s life insurance too…SMH Source
‘We pushed it back to really route it and put other dates on there,’ Jay says of pushing launch to October. By Rob Markman Kanye West and Jay-Z Photo: Getty Images Fans eager to experience Watch the Throne live are going to have to wait an extra month before they can see Jay-Z and Kanye West in concert. On Tuesday morning, Live Nation started a pre-sale for the WTT Tour, but the original run, which was set to begin on September 22 in Detroit, is no longer. Instead Yeezy and Hov will now kick things off on October 29 in Atlanta, Georgia. The original 24-date tour is now slated for 17 stops, but Live Nation’s website says that more dates will be announced soon. The October 29 Atlanta date was in fact on the original schedule, as was the October 30, Greensboro, North Carolina, date and the November 1 show in Baltimore. The remaining concerts are all rescheduled. Look back at the events leading up to Watch the Throne ‘s August 8 release. There is still no New York City date on paper yet, though Hov confirmed that there will be one during a radio interview with Hot 97’s Angie Martinez on Monday, when he also denied rumors of a feud between him and Kanye . The Throne will stop at the nearby Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey, for two nights and will also land in West’s hometown of Chicago on December 1. “That’s an old list we had to push that back, because it was like, we tried to put it out in pre-order and all the lines got jammed,” Jay told Martinez in the interview as she read off the tour’s original dates. “We pushed it back to really route it and put other dates on there. We’ll probably put four New York dates there instead.” Check out exclusive photos of Jay-Z and Kanye West in the studio. As of now, the last date on the schedule is across the northern border on December 18 in Vancouver. In the radio interview, Jay said that he and Kanye hadn’t worked out the performance details and couldn’t confirm who would hit the stage when or how the two would interact. “We hadn’t worked out those details yet but considerable time will be spent onstage together,” he said. ‘I don’t have a clear answer,’ guitarist Dan Donegan says about the band’s future. By James Montgomery Disturbed’s David Draiman and Dan Donegan Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty Images After more than a decade together and some 13 million albums sold, Chicago heavy hitters Disturbed are preparing for an “indefinite hiatus,” according to frontman David Draiman. Draiman announced the news on his Twitter account , in response to a fan’s question about rumors that the band was breaking up. And while he admitted that he has no idea what Disturbed’s long-term plans are, their immediate future is pretty clear: “We haven’t said that were breaking up. We simply do not know yet,” Draiman wrote. “All I can say is we are going on an indefinite hiatus.” He added that he “can’t really get into the reasons” why Disturbed were planning on taking a break, and wrote , simply, “Let’s just say it’s time.” Draiman was equally mysterious about his future plans, writing that even if he wasn’t singing with the band, he would “always be involved in music on some level.” Disturbed are currently touring North America with Godsmack and Megadeth on the 2011 Mayhem Festival, which wraps August 14 at the Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Florida. They have a handful of South American dates scheduled for the end of the month, and then, as Draiman put it , the band is “done.” A spokesperson for the band could not be reached for comment by press time. In an interview with Dallas radio station KEGL on Wednesday, Disturbed guitarist Dan Donegan clarified Draiman’s remarks, saying, “Ever since the start of this band, we’ve always had a game plan of what comes next after each thing. So it’s always been ‘write, record, tour, let’s go home for a month, let’s start writing again, do the same thing all over again.’ … This time around, we just haven’t really gotten to those discussions yet. We know that we’re coming to the end of this touring cycle and we just haven’t planned on what we wanna do next.” And, much like his frontman, Donegan didn’t seem to have an idea about just when (or if) Disturbed would ever play together again, but added that the focus right now is to end things on a high note. “I don’t have a clear answer [about the band’s future], because I’m not sure where everybody’s head’s at at the moment other than we’re having a great time out on tour, we’re going out big, we’re carrying big production, we wanna end this on a big note,” he said. “I think we’re not ready to sit down and have the discussions of when we wanna get back together or if we’re gonna. So we’re kind of winging it.” Disturbed formed in Chicago in the late 1990s and broke through to the mainstream with bludgeoning hits like “Stupify” and “Down With the Sickness.” They have released five studio albums, the last four of which — 2002’s Believe, ’05’s Ten Thousand Fists, ’08’s Indestructible and last year’s Asylum — each debuted at #1 on the Billboard albums chart. So So Def rapper Da Brat recently revealed her feminine side in a ‘summer chic’ shoot for VIBE.com . The Chicago native traded in her baggy jeans and baseball caps for a more glam and girly look. Brat talks about being a sex symbol, working out and what she loves on a man: How did you feel about the Vibe.com photo shoot? I absolutely loved it! The stylist Tamara Connor was amazing. Mara Z styled my hair with the help of her assistant Dina as well as my regular hairstylist, Shontelle Sampeur. Mara also did my makeup. Both hair and make-up were great. And I loved the photographer, Alex. I definitely want to do more photo shoots with him because I can tell he is passionate about his work. Was it uncomfortable transitioning into a “sex symbol” or is this just another side of you that we never see? I’m such a fucking lady. I loved to get glammed up. I love manis and pedis. I like to go to Vicky Secrets and La Perla because I like lace and bikinis. I’m such a P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thug) What type of message do you want to portray to women about their bodies. Be who you are! What are you doing to stay in shape? Work out. Working out is like a stress reliever. What type of clothes do you wear to make you look sexy? It depends on the look and how I’m feeling that day. What is your favorite body part? I don’t have just one. I love all parts of my body! But on a man, I love the Adonis line. It’s just so sexy! What do you have to say about your new mixtape? It’s DUMB STUPID CRAZY! It’s HOTTER THAN A MOTHER FUCKER! BRAT IS BACK! Brat looks amazing, we always knew she had it in her. Love the new look.
