Penn State football uniforms will look different in 2012. The iconic navy blue jerseys will feature player names on the back for the first time, along with blue ribbons to support victims of child abuse. The decision to add names was made “in recognition of (their) resolve and dedication to the team and the university,” according to a statement. The blue ribbons speak for themselves. Penn State uniforms have been widely known for their simple design and lack of a name across the back, but this is a different program now. Coach Bill O’Brien said in May that the uniforms wouldn’t change from the design favored by Joe Paterno, but apparently had a change of heart. The fallout from the Jerry Sandusky scandal was immense as a committee found Joe Paterno and Penn State culpable as well as the child molester himself. The university’s statue of the coaching legend, now deceased, has been torn down. In 2012, the uniforms will further signal a new era at PSU.
The Monkees will go on tour together for the first time since singer Davy Jones died of a heart attack in February, the group announced today. The 12-date fall U.S. tour will kick off in November and will include all three surviving Monkees: Michael Nesmith, Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork. The trek marks the first time in 15 years that Nesmith will join the group on tour; the last time he joined The Monkees was back in 1997. According to Rolling Stone , the set list will span The Monkees’ career, from their TV series to their movie “Head” to more obscure album tracks. “I never really left,” says Nesmith of his time with the group. “It is a part of my youth that is always active in my thought and part of my overall work.” “It stays in a special place, but like things in the past it fades in and out in relevance to activities that are current. Getting together with old friends and acquaintances can be stimulating and very fun and even inspiring to me.” “We all did some good work together and I am always interested in the right time and the right place to reconnect and play.” The Monkees plan to salute the late Davy Jones in a multimedia show with some rare photographs and videos throughout the tour.

Terry Lynn Fisher of the Orange County Social Services Agency (which oversees CPS) “cannot address specific aid recipients” but says: “The Social Services Agency makes every effort to help children be safe in their own homes with their own families whenever possible. The law allows a wide latitude in parenting styles and in parenting vocations. I don’t think that anybody would ever want it any other way . So as long as children remain free from harm or danger, where there’s no imminent risk of harm or danger, the Social Services Agency would not become involved.” It’s all good in other words. London Olympics sensation Gabby Douglas’ journey to become U.S. team and all-around individual gymnastics champion has come at considerable cost. The two-time gold medalist spoke candidly about her family’s tough times amid her quest for glory, including her mom current’s financial woes. “It was hard for us growing up … my dad had left us, so he wasn’t really in the picture anymore,” the 16-year-old told the New York Post. “So, my mom had to front all these bills,” Gabby recalled. “My dad didn’t really pay the child support. He was really short [on money]” “It was definitely hard on my mom , taking care of me and my siblings.” Gabby’s father, Timothy Douglas, was a military man who had been deployed to the Middle East when she was just nine years old. Although the family had resided in Virginia Beach, Va., the future Olympic champion eventually moved to Des Moines, Iowa, to train. After a history-making one-two punch that saw Gabby Douglas win Olympic gold medals in both the individual all-around and team competition, she wavered on Monday, placing eighth on the uneven bars . She’ll get another shot at a medal Tuesday on the balance beam. “Toward the end of the Olympics, you get physically tired and drained. And no matter how much rest you have your body is tired,” she said. “Coming into bar finals was a big challenge for me and I made a little mistake. Even if I would have hit a solid routine, I know I have a lower start value then the other competitors. I’m going to go into the beam finals tomorrow and try really hard to end on a good note.” We’ll be admiring Gabby Douglas’ hair and performance today no matter how she does. Dear Bossip , I have been with a man for over 9 years. I just recently found out that he was fooling around on me and impregnated another woman. We have 2 kids together and this child is the same age as our youngest child. When confronting the other woman it was obvious that she was nothing but a creep. She even admits to a night of drunk sex that resulted in a baby. When asked what the extent was of my man and the child’s relationship, she said he is not present and that she wants nothing to do with him, and she’s better off without him. When I asked my man he broke down and cried and admitted to sleeping with the girl. He tells me that the baby may or may not be his because come to find out she told him it was a possibility. He claims that he tried to tell me before, but was so afraid to tell me and he kept it a secret in fear that I may leave him. I again called the woman who now changes up her story and tells me a whole different account of the relationship, but it is in sync with his story. She has moved on, has other children, but my feelings are hurt because I love this man and until that point I thought we were happy. He has changed his ways. He is continuously apologizing and trying to stay on my good side. What do I do? I love this man and we have a home, cars, children, and life together. The same man who hasn’t married you, and the same man who cheated on you and lied for years to you. You think you know your man, but you don’t. And, you can sit your humpy dumpty a** up there and hope things will be different, and you can move forward, and he apologizes until the cows come home, but the fact remains that a child was created due to his night of wanting to be unfaithful and spread his seeds. RAW!!! Ma’am, he went up in this woman, RAW, and he didn’t know her. He’s trifling, sad, and harmful to you and your own life. He wasn’t thinking about you and your children at that moment, and beyond was he? He lied to you for years and kept the child a secret. Yes, he’s a liar, and he only revealed the truth when he was caught. So, therefore we can deduce that he’s a cheater, liar, manipulator, deceiver, and untrustworthy. Now, you’re asking me what you should do. You tell me what you think you should. I’ll tell you this, it is not the first time he’s cheated and lied to you, and it certainly won’t be the last. Jon Gosselin’s claims he’s broke and can’t pay rent because he has to pay child support. This is apparently news to his ex-wife Kate Gosselin. According to her attorney, he’s not even on the hook anymore. Cheryl Young, who has represented Kate in her ongoing legal battle with her ex, says Jon no longer has to pay Kate a dime for their kids. Says Young: “I read Jon’s statement and was quite surprised to read that he claims to be struggling to keep his child support payments current.” “As of April 27, 2012, Kate voluntarily relieved Jon Gosselin of all current and future child support obligations for their eight children,” she added. The former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star claimed yesterday that he is strapped for cash and fearful of his ability to pay support – and stay out of jail. “I can’t afford to pay my rent and the domestic-relations staff tells me they will put me in jail unless I pay child support,” Jon told Star Magazine . “I am a single father who’s trying to make ends meet during a recession.” Kate’s lawyer disagrees with his claims , reiterating, “Kate and Jon talked and worked through all of these issues and she withdrew the child support.” Young says he still must pay any amount left over from before that, “only paying a small amount on arrears” on what he owed prior to April 27. Kate’s attorney defended her actions, as well: “The last thing Kate ever wanted was for the children to see their father in dire financial straits.” For her part, Kate says she’s made peace with Jon and the two are on much better terms these days, so his comments came a bit out of left field.
Daniel Craig was at Her Majesty’s Service for the opening ceremony of the London Olympics. The James Bond franchise’s latest 007 appeared with Queen Elizabeth and her Corgis in a pre-recorded skit that had the secret agent and the queen meeting in Buckingham Palace. London’s Mail Online reports that the Queen told Craig, “Good evening, Mr. Bond,” before accompanying him on a helicopter ride to Olympic Stadium with the secret agent at the aircraft’s controls. The film then gave way to real life as their stunt doubles sailed into Olympic Stadium beneath Union Jack chutes, eliciting gasps from the crowd. After touchdown, the real Queen, her hair strategically mussed, then reappeared to take her place in the royal box. Although, sadly, no Rage-virus-infected zombies showed up to spike the adrenaline levels of the gathered athletes, the ceremony’s director Danny Boyle didn’t completely ignore his darker instincts for the presentation, which was entitled Isles of Wonder . The Child Catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang put in an appearance and Harry Potter baddie Lord Voldemort menaced in the form of a giant inflatable that was reminiscent of Pink Floyd’s The Wall concert tour. Fortunately, a small army of approximately 30 Mary Poppinses swooped down into the stadium on umbrellas to save the day. That’s a weird act for the athletes to follow.
