According to NBC News: A Tennessee couple were held on a half-million dollars bond Thursday after they were charged with killing their 5-year-old daughter by forcing her to drink almost three-quarters of a gallon of grape soda and water as punishment. In indictments unsealed Monday, a Hawkins County grand jury charged Mary Lavonne Vaughn, 58, and Randall Lee Vaughn, 41, of the town of Surgoinsville with first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and two counts of aggravated child neglect each. A court appearance was scheduled for Friday. The Vaughns remained in the Hawkins County Jail this morning on $500,000 bond. They were arrested Wednesday and were scheduled to make their first court appearance Friday. Randall Vaughn was Alexa’s biological father, and Mary Vaughn was her stepmother. The Hawkins County Sheriff Department said in a statement that its investigation revealed that Alexa had been told to stop drinking her stepmother’s grape soda. When she was caught drinking some again, it said, she was forced to drink 2.4 liters — about 81 ounces — of the soda and water in a period of one to two hours. Third Judicial District Attorney Berkley Bell told the Times-News of Kingsport that the Vaughns “also failed to take care of the child once she was injured,” saying they didn’t take her to a hospital until “several hours after the child started exhibiting serious symptoms, after the child was screaming out in pain, went into a paralyzed state and became unconscious.” Alexa lived in the home with five other childen, all of whom are now in foster care, the Times-News reported. Shoppers Get Black Mom Arrested For Spanking Her Son In Public Via NewsOne reports: When Marie Lyssa Mars reportedly spanked her 5-year-old son in front of patrons at a Brockton, Mass., supermarket, little did she know she’d be arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a child under 14, according to The Enterprise. Police documents state that Mars and her son were shopping at a Shaw’s supermarket Saturday afternoon. Witnesses allege that Mars began spanking her son as she stood on the checkout line and when the onlookers urged her to stop, she continued. Nearly a dozen of the patrons followed the mom and her child to their minivan and noted the vehicle’s license plate number. The customers then summoned police. Mars drove out of the store’s parking lot but was pulled over by officers moments later. She was arrested at the scene. When the mom was questioned as to why she had struck her child, she reportedly responded that her son “was a very active child,” and that she was just “disciplining him.” Meanwhile, the boy was turned over to the state Department of Children and Families, the agency that handles cases of child abuse or neglect for a child under the age of 18. A few weeks after the Golden Globe Awards recognized Woody Allen with a lifetime achievement award, his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow has spoken out. Hollywood it should be ashamed of itself, Dylan believes, because the acclaimed movie director sexually abused her when she was a child. In 1992, Dylan’s mother Mia made the same allegation, but prosecutors chose not to pursue charges because Dylan was too “fragile” to go through a trial at the time. In an open letter to The New York Times, Dylan wrote the following Saturday: “When I was seven years old, Woody Allen took me by the hand and led me into a dim, closet-like attic on the second floor of our house.” “He told me to lay on my stomach and play with my brother’s electric train set. Then he sexually assaulted me.” Dylan goes on to detail other heinous acts that took place between her and Allen. “I didn’t like it when he would stick his thumb in my mouth. I didn’t like it when I had to get in bed with him under the sheets when he was in his underwear. I didn’t like it when he would place his head in my naked lap and breathe in and breathe out.” Immediately after Allen was honored at the Golden Globes (he did not attend the ceremony), son Ronan Farrow slammed the star for this same reason, Tweeting: “Missed the Woody Allen tribute,” Farrow Tweeted . “Did they put the part where a woman publicly confirmed he molested her at age 7 before or after Annie Hall? Lil Za, a notorious member of Justin Bieber’s posse, has been charged with three felonies stemming from last month’s raid on the singer’s home. Two weeks after Za was arrested for drug possession , the 19-year-old (a.k.a. Xavier Smith) faces two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Those would be for MDMA (a form of ecstasy) and Oxycodone. Smith also reportedly faces a felony charge for damaging a jail phone. Seriously. Lil Za: Arrested for Drugs! Police found the drugs “in plain view” at Justin’s home back on January 14, while searching for evidence implicating Bieber’s egging of a neighbor ‘s home. Lil Za, who lives with Bieber along with Lil Twist, apparently was the owner of the illegal substances, or at least took the fall for the pop superstar. Alleged texts to Justin from Selena Gomez (below) insinuated that he was letting Za go down for unnamed things that the singer was responsible for. In any case, Za’s day wasn’t done once he was taken into custody. After being arrested, he spent less than a day at the Lost Hills / Malibu Sheriff’s Station, but before he was released on bail, all hell broke loose. Damn, Jody … Tyrese’s Baby Mom Says He Is An Unfit Father In Custody Battle According to TMZ reports : Tyrese Gibson claims his baby mama is using Paul Walker’s death to shame him in their child custody war … TMZ has learned. Norma Gibson filed court docs claiming Tyrese is a bad dad, who should have stayed in L.A. to spend time with their 6-year-old daughter after Paul Walker’s death … because he had time on his hands since “Fast & Furious 7″ was put on hold. Norma says Tyrese blew off his little girl, choosing instead to go “gallivanting throughout Dubai … staying in expensive hotels … partying on yachts, sky-diving with other movie stars, driving expensive cars, and making special appearances in night clubs.” But sources close to Tyrese say he’s indignant Norma is using Paul … and he went to Dubai on business. He had 4 gigs and he needed the money — ironically to pay the child support Norma was demanding. The court battle rages on later this month … when they each try and convince a court-appointed child evaluator who’s good and who’s evil. What the hell does Paul Walker have to do with the child?!
