New NRA Youth Magazine Promotes Indoor BB Gun Use For Children Despite the increasing number of numerous reports of school-aged children becoming both victims and suspects of gun violence across the United States, the National Rifle Association continues to think it’s a great idea for children to have access to weapons. via Think Progress The National Rifle Association (NRA)’s overtures to children have come under fire after its annual conference last week, which advertised weapons for children and advocated storing firearms in kids’ rooms just on the heels of the fatal shooting of a two year old by her five year old brother. A ThinkProgress review of the NRA children’s magazine, InSights, found another piece of disturbing advice: kids should build target ranges inside their homes. The article, “BB, It’s Cold Outside,” ran in the January 2013 edition of InSights. The spread features a picture of a young-looking boy holding a BB gun next to a fireplace, and is addressed to children who are “shooting a real gun now” but can’t wait to practice until it’s warm enough outside to make firing one fun. The NRA article recommends that, instead, the child build a home BB gun range to keep up. What the hell???
Where is Kim Porter? Probably cracking her whip on some poor personal assistant who is on her hands and knees scrubbing the dog poo stains out of her carpet. At least that’s what the latest lawsuit against her alleges. Via RadarOnline reports : The baby mama of Sean John Combs, aka Puff Daddy, Diddy and P. Diddy, is being sued by a former assistant who claims she made her work like a slave up to 99.5 hours each week! According to the lawsuit, obtained exclusively by RadarOnline.com, Amanda Jansen was hired to work for Kim Porter in November 2011. “Pursuant to the employment agreement, Ms. Jansen was to work 99.5 hours per week. These hours included 13.5 hour shifts on Monday through Friday and 24 hour shifts (8 hours of which were unpaid) Saturday and Sunday,” the lawsuit says. “Thus, Ms. Jansen did not have regularly scheduled days off.” Among the duties Jansen was ordered to perform, the suit alleges, were cooking for the household and staff, going to Costco and “cleaning the floor if the family dog urinated, or defecated in the house.” But the living quarters provided for Amanda, the documents claim, were “abysmal” and the bedroom door didn’t have a lock. Prior to being fired, lawyers for Amanda say she conveyed her concerns that she was being short-changed to Porter and was summarily dismissed shortly thereafter. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages. It’s the second lawsuit in successive months to be filed against Porter: last month, Dawn Drago, filed papers in a court alleging that Porter chain-smoked sticky icky in the house while her children were home. In the latest case, Jansen is being repped by famed attorneys Tamar Arminak and Patrick Reider. Poor thang! Far from it. ““People assume I’m desperate for a baby,” Khloe tells Redbook . “And, yes, I would love to have a baby. But I’m 28, and I’ve been married three and a half years. I love my life, but it doesn’t feel incomplete right now.” Does she ever tire of the baby questions? “I do think my difficulty getting pregnant has helped a lot of women,” Kardashian – who is undergoing hormone injections – said. “Do I wish people would quit asking me about it 24/7? New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie secretly underwent lap-band stomach surgery this year to lose weight, the politician himself confirmed to the N.Y. Post. He told the newspaper he was thinking of his four young children and how it was time to start improving his health when he decided to have the procedure. “I’ve struggled with this issue for 20 years,” he said. “For me, this is about turning 50 and looking at my children and wanting to be there for them.” The Republican also insisted that, contrary to what observers may say, the effort to slim down was not motivated by thoughts of the 2016 election . “It’s so much more important than that,” he said. Christie checked in to a surgery center on February 16, possibly under a false name, to have the operation that has already helped him drop 40 pounds. The operation places a silicone tube around the top of his stomach, where it restricts the amount of food he can eat at one time and makes him feel fuller, faster. “A week or two ago, I went to a steakhouse and ordered a steak and ate about a third of it and I was full,” Christie said of his newly tamed appetite. Christie has struggled with his weight for decades. He sometimes jokes about it, while other times, it’s a sensitive topic. Insiders say it may have been keeping the straight-talking executive from higher office. Despite Christie’s denials, political fundraisers say that the surgery is a clear sign that he’s going to join the 2016 race, and will do whatever it takes to win. “This means he’s running for president. He’s showing people he can get his weight in control. It was the one thing holding him back,” a top donor said. Christie has never revealed his weight, but estimates have run from 300 pounds to even higher. He said it was not an easy decision, but it was the right one. The N.J. Governor hired renowned laparoscopic and bariatric surgeon George Fielding, head of NYU Medical Center’s Weight Management Program. He managed to keep the surgery under wraps for nearly three months, but when word finally leaked and he was asked, Christie spoke candidly about it. Christie is often mentioned as a potential GOP candidate for President in the 2016 race, along with Rand Paul , Ted Cruz , Marco Rubio and others. First up, though, will be winning reelection in New Jersey this fall.
Where were the parents? 6-Year-Old Shot By Brother According to NBC Miami Homicide detectives in Broward County, Florida are talking with a 13-year-old boy who they believe shot his 6-year-old sister. According to NBC Miami, the shooting occurred just before 7 p.m. in Oakland Park on Saturday night. “They were playing hide and go seek. I don’t know how it went down but he shot his sister,” neighbor Peter Milano explained. “They just carried her out in her hands and you can tell above her chest area she had a hole where she was shot,” neighbor Justin Latoutrrette told WSVN. Broward Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Dani Moschella said that the two children were at home alone when the incident happened. “We just don’t know at this point if this was an accident or if it was intentional,” Moschella said. “It is very difficult when dealing with children, specifically children who’ve been through a very traumatic situation,” she pointed out. “This family will never be the same after tonight, no matter how it ends up.” Another neighbor told The Miami Herald that the “little boy just sat there rocking back and forth… It’s just so devastating. They had just moved in two weeks ago.” Under Florida law, the parents could be charged with a third-degree felony if police determine that the gun was “within the reach or easy access of a minor” and was used to cause injury or death. The 6-year-old girl was taken to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale. Moschella reported that she was in critical but stable condition as of Sunday night. My MBE’s happened on March 31 st 2013 in Berlin and April 2 nd 2013 in Hamburg. I had bought meet & greet tickets for my friend Laura and I for April 2 nd in July 2012. When I found out about the BieberFever contests I knew there was a chance to win for the show in Berlin so I entered. On March 30, the day the winners would get their emails, I was visiting my aunt and cousin. We had just finished dinner as I received an email from BieberFever saying I won! I was screaming and jumping up and down while crying. Finally March 31 was here and I got ready for the concert. My best guy friend was coming with me. We made our way to the meet & greet entrance but everything was a chaos. After we got the instructions, people started screaming and we saw why, “Kenny! Kenny” Then Justin had arrived for the meeting. I felt like I had to throw up, the butterflies in my stomach went absolutely crazy. In no-time we were at the front, about to meet him. We went behind the curtain and there he stood. My idol, 3 years of waiting for this day. The only thing I could say was, “Can I hug you?” but he didn’t reply, so I just basically threw my arms around him even though his left arm was already wrapped around another girl. I looked into the camera, they took the picture and we had to go. Before we went out, Henning stuck out his hand for Justin and said, “Hey Justin” and Justin just shook his hand and was like, “How you doin’?” I was dying on the inside. After we went out, I saw the girls in front of me hugging Kenny and asking for a picture, but Kenny said he couldn’t take pictures right now because he has to watch out. I went up to him and asked for a hug. He’s so cuddly, like a life-size teddybear. Fast-forward to April 1: my parents and I went to Hamburg by car. It took us like 3 hours and when we were there I stalked Facebook and found out that Justin is staying at the Hyatt Hotel, just a few hundred meters from our hotel. We finally reached the hotel at about 7 p.m. I talked to a few girls there who have been there all day and they said they saw Kenny, Dan and Fredo. I went to sleep early and when I woke up, BieberFever had finally uploaded the meet & greet pictures from Berlin. Soon after we checked into the meet & greet line, Laura and I both had our letters to Justin and a pack of Oreos for Fredo, which he unfortunately obviously didn’t get. Suddenly the instructor brought out Dan. I was shaking already. We all got a chance to take a picture with him. He’s so nice and so small! Then it was time to meet Justin! Laura went in first and I was already almost inside so I could watch her and Justin taking the picture until the security pushed me inside too. I walked over to Justin, everything was like happening in a blur. I don’t even really remember. All I know is that I looked at his cheekbones and said, “I love you so much” quietly. Then the picture was taken and I was grabbed by the arm of another security and basically thrown out. I was disappointed and also a little hurt. But the concert was even more perfect. I went to the Diamond Circle and as soon as we entered the arena we looked at each other and screamed. Finally the countdown appeared. During the concert Justin looked at me and Laura at least 6 times and basically sang to us. Last but not least, I want you all to know that nothing is impossible. You can’t be serious … Kentucky Boy Shoots Sister With Gun He Got From Parents Via AP reports: Authorities in southern Kentucky say a 2-year-old girl has been accidentally shot and killed by her 5-year-old brother, who was playing with a .22-caliber rifle he received as a gift. Kentucky State Police said the toddler was shot just after 1 p.m. CDT Tuesday in Cumberland County and was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Cumberland County Coroner Gary White told the Lexington Herald-Leader that the children’s mother was at home at the time. White told the newspaper that the boy received the rifle made for youths last year and is used to shooting it. He said the gun was kept in a corner and the family didn’t realize a shell was left inside it. White said the shooting will be ruled accidental. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
