Are we currently witnessing the lowest period in Jenelle Evans' life so far? It kind of feels like it, right? Which is pretty wild to consider, since she had that whole heroin addiction thing a few years back. But right now, at this very moment in time, Jenelle doesn't have custody of any of her three children. And honestly, the chances of her getting them back aren't looking all that great. 1. Let’s Go OK, so all of this Jenelle stuff … it’s a lot, you know? So grab a drink, maybe a snack, and let’s get into every little last depressing detail of this mess. 2. Justice for Nugget You know how it starts: after a few years of a steady downward spiral, David kicked things up about a billion notches when he beat and then shot Jenelle’s French bulldog puppy, Nugget, for nipping at little Ensley. 3. So Sad As we understand it, all the kids who live at the house were there when it happened, and since David reportedly came back inside “covered in blood,” it’s easy to imagine that they may have been a little traumatized. 4. Sure Thing, Girl Jenelle pretended like she was considering divorce for a few days, but when David nearly went to jail because he was unable to pay the child support for his son, Kaden, she ran back into his creepy, dog-murdering arms. 5. Thank Goodness Fortuntely, not everyone was so quick to forgive him. The local sheriff’s department and animal control opened up a joint investigation against him, and after that, things got intense quick. 6. Nathan to the Rescue One of the detectives on the case got in touch with CPS to suggest that the children should be removed from David’s care, and last Friday, Nathan and/or his mother, Doris, picked Kaiser up from daycare. The Duggar family has been at the heart of countless controversies over the course of their many years in the public eye. Of course, they've always maintained the position that only God can judge them, but considering how many times the word “neighbor” comes up in the Bible, well … Jim Bob and company might want to spare some concern for the folks who live near them and what they have to say. If you follow the family closely, you're probably aware the Duggars and their neighbors don't always get along. In fact, Jim Bob has been derided as a greedy, status-seeking, wannabe tyrant. But is that a fair assessment, or is the family-man-turned-media-mogul being judged too harshly? Take a look at the evidence and decide for yourself: 1. The Power Couple Jim Bob and Michelle may have started their relationship under humble circumstances, but 19 kids, millions of dollars, and one semi-failed political career later, it’s clear that they always had big aspirations. 2. More Than a Media Mogul Jim Bob is many things: a former state senator, a father of 19, and the overseer of a burgeoning media empire — but he still aspires to more. 3. Aspiring Land Baron Jim Bob’s tendency to buy up large tracts of land for commercial use has frequently caused him to clash with his neighbors. 4. The Family Business Jim Bob and several of his children are involved in the business of flipping cars and properties. 5. Bucking Tradition Though working women are rarely seen in the evangelical world the Duggars inhabit, Jim Bob has permitted some of his daughters, including Jana, to take part in these ventures, which should serve as an indication of how serious he is about this aspect of his empire. 6. A Conservative Crowd Obviously, both real estate development and selling used cars require large tracts of land. And so, Jim Bob is constantly buying up acres, much to the chagrin of some of his neighbors, who may be resistant to change. View Slideshow
This Not Exactly Just In: Jenelle Evans is not the best mother on the planet. Anyone who has tuned in for any episode of Teen Mom 2 or surfed the Internet for any amount of time is likely aware of this fact. But Jenelle’s fitness as a parent has never been called further into question than it has been at the moment, with Child Protection Services having recently gone into her North Carolina home and removed her three kids. Following a court hearing on Thursday, Ensley, Jace and Kaiser were all hauled away by the authorities — and it’s unclear when, if ever, they will be returned to their mom. (Jenelle’s husband, David Eason, is the biological father of Ensley, while Jenelle’s shares Jace with Andrew Lewis and Kaiser with Nathan Griffith.) It’s a very ugly and sad situation all around. Evans, of course, has often made headlines for her controversial parenting techniques and decisions . But CPS finally intervened after Eason admitted to shooting and killing his family’s dog, Nugget, because it allegedly snapped at little Ensley and placed her in danger. According to various reports, Eason beat the dog bloody and senseless with his bare hands before putting it out of the misery he brutally inflicted upon it. This story made national news. No one has come to the defense of Eason because his actions were indefensible — but is it time someone stepped in and defended Jenelle as a mother? We’ve been at the forefront of Jenelle’s mockery and we’ve penned one article after another about the dangerous environment in which Jenelle has placed her kids, merely by putting them around Eason, his guns, his temper and his penchant for violence. And yet: it’s a huge deal for a mother to actually, truly, literally lose her kids. With this in mind, we’ve asked members of The Hollywood Gossip editorial team to chime in and respond to the following question: DOES JENELLE EVANS DESERVE TO LOST CUSTODY OF HER CHILDREN? YES by Tyler Johnson Put this one alongside “Is the Pope Catholic?” And “Does a bear sh-t in the woods?” on the list of questions that are so easy to answer they can be used rhetorically. Jenelle’s kids should have been taken away years ago for myriad reasons: She’s been arrested dozens of times — often for violent offenses — her youngest daughter was born with drugs in her system, and through it all, Jenelle has never shown any remorse or willingness to seek help. But, for whatever reason, the powers that be in the state of North Carolina didn’t act until David traumatized the kids by murdering their pet dog. It’s shameful that the authorities allowed those children to remain in such a dangerous environment for so long. But now they have an opportunity to make things right by ensuring that Jenelle is never again granted primary custody of her children. Perhaps if she leaves David, she can one day prove herself worthy of visitation rights. But Evans has demonstrated time and again that she’s not capable of providing a stable home life for a child — especially as long as that monster remains in her life. YES (PLEASE) by Simon Delott Jenelle Evans is, all by herself, a bad enough parent that no child should be condemned to her care. This is a woman who makes Farrah Abraham look like a model reality star – nay, a model human being! – by comparison. To those unfamiliar with the Teen Mom franchise, I describe Jenelle as “Worse Kenny’s Mom,” for those familiar with South Park. It’s a convenient shorthand that gives people a very clear picture of what a disaster she is. On a more serious note, Jenelle has an addiction that makes one almost nostalgic for her erstwhile fondness for needles. That addiction is David Eason, a scary, terrible person and, according to the local sheriff, “the most dangerous man in three counties .” David has served time in prison, but neither it nor the spotlight of fame has made him less of a violent menace. The man should not be trusted to watch a houseplant, let alone a child. I’ve been saying that since poor Nugget was still alive. Will CPS rescue these poor children on a permanent basis? That’s for a court to decide. Unfortunately, we won’t hold our breath. Our legal system places much more value on a parent’s “rights” than it does on a child’s well-being. The only thing that our courts care about less than children is non-human animals. David Eason may be a dog-murderer and an all-around monster, but I don’t have enough faith in the system to count on them recognizing that. He’ll probably just be forced to take some anger management classes and will get to go on living his life. Those poor children deserve better than what our society is willing to do for them. YES (AS SOON AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE) by Hilton Hater I really wanted to play Devil’s Advocate here. I really racked my brain and tried to come up with some angle in which I could argue that Eason may be a violent bigot but he’s never harmed any of the kids himself. Or that Jenelle has clearly leared her lesson at this point and will re-dedicate herself to being a responsible parent and will always put the well-being of her young ones first and that it’s a really huge deal to actually take away children from their biological mother. But I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t get there. This isn’t an instance where one can even try to make jokes or quips or puns or pretend like it’s not a big deal. This is a massive deal. The lives of two boys and one girl, all under the age of 10, are at stake. Yes, their lives are at stake. Eason has murdered a dog in cold blood. He has almost definitely broken his wife’s collarbone . He cannot control his anger and Jenelle cannot control herself around him; she has proven time and again that she’s incapable of leaving the marriage and, as noted by my colleagues above, she has often shown little regard for her kids even when on her own. This is an easy one and also a tragic one all around: Every day those kids live under Jenelle’s roof, they are in danger. WHAT DO YOU THINK? Whether she likes it or not, Lori Loughlin will probably go to jail for the college bribery scandal. Felicity Huffman has pleaded guilty . It’s expected that both famous women will spend time behind bars. But what will that be like for them? Abby Lee Miller recently learned this for herself, and is offering Lori and Felicity some advice. In the new issue of Us Weekly , Dance Moms star Abby Lee Miller is speaking about Lori and Felicity’s current plight. “I have a lot of advice for them,” Miller expresses. Miller was famous — more or less a household name — when she was sentenced to one year in prison for bankruptcy fraud. She reported to prison in the summer of 2017, and was released to a halfway house in early 2018. Miller feels that she has a lot of wisdom to offer “and I would love to talk to them face-to-face.” At least some of that advice, however, they can find in print. “They shouldn’t hire one of those [prison] consultants,” the Dance Moms villain insists. There are consultants for everything. Some of them are invaluable. Some are basically just con artists. Miller had two. “My attorneys in Pittsburgh hired one,” she shares. “And Lifetime hired another one.” According to Miller: “Both were completely wrong on everything.” In terms of less specific advice, Miller has one major suggestion. “My advice would be, ‘Take a deep breath,'” she expresses. And she’s not ruling out all consultants. “‘And if you need a consultant,'” Miller promises. “‘I’m your girl.’” Someone, please make this into a TV special — even if Lori and Felicity don’t seem likely to accept any offers right now. But Abby Lee Miller’s experience in the slammer wasn’t all bad. She says that she made the acquaintance of a number of “lovely and wonderful” women while she was behind bars. “[They were] some of the most intelligent, intuitive, wonderful people that I’ll ever meet,” Miller gushes. That makes a lot of sense. Our nation’s incarceration rate may be absurdly, immorally high, but that doesn’t mean that all or even most of the people behind bars are evil. Some crimes reflect momentary lapses in judgment that harm no one. Some “crimes” shouldn’t be crimes at all. Miller went to prison for brankruptcy fraud. Fraud is bad, though she of course disputed the veracity of the charge. But Lori and Felicity are accused of using their wealth to try to game the system to sneak their children into college. This is so outrageous because it flies in the face of countless marginalized people who overcome great odds to apply. How many deserving people from disadvantaged backgrounds have been waitlisted to make room for a rich kid? College is a great experience, but it’s not for everyone, and if you can’t get in on your own merit, you’re not going to have a great time. Ultimately, their kids would have been better off and probably happier with a hefty cash gift. But fortunately, Lori and Felicity are probably looking at similar — and, in Felicity’s case, probably shorter — prison experiences to Miller’s. It’s no fun. Someone else decides when you wake up, when you go to bed, and you’re stripped of your freedom and dignity. But it should be the sort of experience that they can survive. Days after Maleah Davis’ stepfather was arrested and weeks after she went missing, Texas authorities confirmed that they are searching for the 4-year-old near a haunted house in Texas. According to FOX 26 , Texas Equusearch coordinator confirmed that they are looking for the child near the Creepy Hollow Haunted House in Rosharon where Derion Vence was arrested in connection to the case. Apparently, Vence is familiar with that area because he worked as a mail carrier in the town from 2017-2018. “All we look for is something that doesn’t fit in,” Jack Boggess with Texas Equusearch told FOX 26. “We look for clothing, shoes, whatever. Just something that doesn’t fit in, and that’s what we key on.” KHOU reported that Vence’s mother-in-law claims that Vence once told her that if he killed anyone he would hide them in Rosharon because no one would ever find the body. Search for Maleah Davis: A deserted haunted house in Rosharon is the scene where Equusearch is currently looking for any evidence of the missing 4-year-old girl. They tell me law enforcement pointed them in this direction. pic.twitter.com/SqerNhegt3 — Ivory Hecker FOX 26 (@IvoryHecker) May 14, 2019 On Saturday night, Vence was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence—a human corpse— after investigators discovered the young girl’s blood in his home and reviewed surveillance footage that shows the 26-year-old walking out of his apartment carrying a heavy laundry basket. It’s been nearly two weeks since Vence claimed that a group of Latino men kidnapped Davis when they were on their way to pick up Davis’ mother, Brittany Bowens, from the airport. He told authorities that he stopped to fix a flat tire when the men came and knocked him out. According to Vence, the men took Davis, but left Vence’s 1-year-old son him. A taxi driver later found Vence’s car in Missouri City on May 9. Last week, Bowens and her lawyer made some serious accusations against Vence, claiming that he was upset with her because she broke off their engagement. That, and he may have been molesting her daughter. “On the day that Brittany left to be with her sick father — her dying father — to be with family, there was a huge fight between her and him,” Quanell X, her lawyer said in a press conference on May 10. “He was hurt, he was angry, he was upset,” adding, “She told him she was giving back his ring and that she was not going to marry him. I believe that caused him to snap in anger. There is a reason to believe, based on what I know now, there’s issues of him possibly molesting young Maleah.” Despite having suspicions of possible sexual abuse, Bowens never reported it to the police. But KTRK reported that in January 2019 Davis and two other siblings were removed from her home as CPS investigated allegations of physical abuse related to a severe head injury she endured. Yet, the children were returned the following month when it was determined that Davis’ injuries were the result of a fall. Meanwhile, law enforcement officials have not yet confirmed whether Davis has died, but investigators do not think she is still alive. Davis was last seen wearing a pink bow in her hair, a light blue zip jacket, blue jeans and gray, white and pink sneakers. If you have any information into Davis’ disappearance please contact Houston Police at at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. More bad news for Jennelle Evans today, as the former Teen Mom 2 star seems to have lost custody of yet another of her children. According to Facebook status update posted by Jenelle's sister Ashleigh, 2-year-old Ensley has been removed from Jenelle's care by Child Protective Services. This report comes on the heels of news that Jenelle's 4-year-old son Kaiser was taken by CPS and placed with his father on Friday. Jenelle has yet to confirm that Ensley was removed from her care , but it looks as though local authorities have deemed her home an unsafe environment for children. Here's everything we know about the situation at this time: [This post has been updated with the latest information on this increasingly bizarre situation. Continue to watch this space for new information.] 1. Better Days Jenelle’s life has been rapidly deteriorating in the weeks since her husband, David Eason, shot and killed the family dog in a fit of rage. 2. RIP, Nugget Immediately after David murdered her 11-pound Frenchie, it looked as though Jenelle might finally leave her violent husband. 3. Wishful Thinking Alas, she was quick to forgive him, which left MTV execs with the feeling that they had little choice but to fire Evans from the show that made her famous. 4. Rock Bottom? From there, the situation continued to get worse, as the investigation into Eason’s act of animal cruelty prompted allegations that Jenelle and David had created an unsafe environment for their children. 5. Say Goodbye to Kai On Friday, CPS instructed Doris Griffith — mother of Kaiser’s father Nathan Griffith — to pick the boy up from daycare and take him to her home for the foreseeable future. 6. Rare Honesty In an interview with Us Weekly, Jenelle confirmed that Kaiser is currently living with his father and grandmother. View Slideshow
Anna Duggar has enough children to field a full starting basketball team. And the figurative sixth man or woman is about to be born, as Anna and husband Josh recently announced another kid is on the way . Despite this experience as a mother, however, the controversial figure admitted to Instagram followers today that she doesn’t always know what she’s doing… … and yet that’s part of the fun at times. “When my first child was born, I guess I had lots of expectations for how things would be,” Duggar says at the outset of a lengthy caption to the photo above, continuing as follows: “Once she arrived, I quickly realized that babies don’t always play by the ‘rules’ and that unpredictability is what makes parenting such a unique responsibility. “When you think you have just got it figured out, things change.” Well, yeah. This doesn’t sound like especially revolutionary thinking here. But maybe Anna’s perspective will help other struggling mothers realize they aren’t alone. “When Mason our youngest arrived, he was diagnosed with a dairy allergy. After talking with the pediatrician, I began searching online and trying to find answers,” Anna wrote, finally getting to the real reason why she has opened up about motherhood like never before: MONEY. “Then I came across @peanut, the social networking app for mothers,” Anna says, explaining: “The app introduces you to women in your neighborhood based on the things you have in common—interests, mutual friends, age/gender of your children, and so much more! “You can meet, chat, join groups and ask questions to a community of like-minded women.” Anna has clearly been paid here to shill for this app. Which is totally and completely fine. We’ve felt awful for this poor woman ever since it was revealed that her husband molested his own sisters . And then it was also revealed that her husband had cheated on her a lot via the website Ashley Madison . Anna is basically stuck in this cult and forced to pump out children at a record rate. The money she’s earning from this Peanut ad is probably going into Josh’s pocket, sadly. Concludes Duggar in this post: Josh and Anna Duggar: We’re Expecting a SIXTH Kid! Connecting with like-minded moms who are walking through the same thing as me has helped me find answers, solutions and support. If you’re like me, you probably find yourself looking for mommy answers on a regular basis. @peanut helps you build your community to connect, grow and learn together. No matter what stage of parenting you’re in right now, I recommend you download the app! It’s a must-have for all mamas! #peanutapp Anna and Josh got married in 2008 and welcomed daughter Mackynzie, 9, in 2009. She became a big sister when Michael, arrived two years later… followed by Marcus, 5, Meredith, 3, and Mason, 20 months. Earlier this month, they couple announced that yet another child was on the way. “We couldn’t be happier to share with the world that our family is growing by one this Fall,” the couple told Us Weekly in an April statement. “We continually stand amazed by God’s love, redemption, grace and blessings in our lives. Our entire little family is ecstatic!” View Slideshow: Josh & Anna Duggar Expecting Again: Their Bizarre Journey to Baby #6 Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar also congratulated the pair, writing back then: We are so happy for Josh & Anna, expecting their 6th child and our 16th grandchild! Each child is a blessing from God! Anna is one of the most amazing women in the world, she is a Proverbs 31 woman! Anna & Josh are good parents and it is going to be neat to see what God does with each one of their children’s lives. A collective of organizations and activists dedicated to spreading awareness about racial inequality within our country’s criminal justice system and ending mass incarceration is on a mission to unite Black mothers who can’t afford to post bail with their families just in time for Mother’s Day. For the third year in a row, the National Bail Out is leading the Black Mamas Bail Out campaign as an avenue to help economically disadvantaged African American women who have been impacted by the unjust cash bail system, People reported. Free Black Mamas Group Reunites Black Women with their Families for Mother’s Day https://t.co/v4r0mlhbpD — People (@people) May 11, 2019 The number of women of color sitting behind bars for non-violent offenses is growing at an alarming rate. According to a report released by the Prison Policy Initiative , 80 percent of women in jails are mothers and a majority of them are the primary caretakers for their children. The National Coalition of Black Civic Participation estimated that 60 percent of incarcerated Black women have dependent children. The barriers and lack of resources provided for Black women in these situations led to the creation of the #FreeBlackMamas movement. Through the initiative the collective is aiming to bail out over 100 women across 35 cities this year. So far there has been over $350,000 raised. Since its inception in 2017, 300 mothers have been released and reunited with their families. Last year alone, there were over 150 mothers released. The collective’s efforts go far beyond simply bailing individuals out. As part of the campaign, the National Bail Out created the Free Black Mama’s Fellowship; an 8-week paid program that provides advocacy-focused workshops so formerly incarcerated women can turn their pain into progress and become change agents in the bail reform space. “We understand the bail outs as connected to the long and deep history of anti-Blackness. We see these fights to free our mamas for Mother’s Day and to fight against money bail really as fights that continue the work of abolition that our ancestors began,” Marbre Stahly-Butts , one of NBO’s founding members, said in a statement. “We see bail as a symptom of an underlying problem. We believe that people are more than the mistake they made. When folks have done harm, we think there are better ways to deal with that harm than to put them in a cage.” The initiative has proven to be nothing short of effective and impactful. “It was a beautiful feeling, for people who did not know me, to come and get me out for Mother’s Day,” one of the mothers who was recently released and reunited with her family told ABC News . “They became family.” SEE ALSO: T.I. Source: Francine Orr / Getty Former O.J. Prosecutor Chris Darden Withdraws From Nipsey Murder Case Chris Darden is set to appear in court today alongside the man accused of killing Nipsey Hussle for the first and only time; He is withdrawing from the case partly because of the threats he’s received for the defending Eric Holder. Darden announced his decision on his Facebook page, writing, “After centuries of a history of black men hung from trees without trial, or after the thousands of cases of black men tried, convicted and executed without counsel … I cannot understand why in 2019 some people would deny a black man his 6th Amendment right to counsel of his choice. Or why defending such a man should invite threats not only against me but against my children too.” He continued, saying, “The right to counsel is … not only a constitutional right, it is a civil right as well. Just as they were in 1995-Cowards never change. These days these cowards don’t send letters instead they sit anonymously behind keyboards threatening a man’s mother and children. And some folks think that’s funny. It isn’t and I won’t ever forget it.” Darden continued on to address his critics directly, saying, “To those who issued those threats to my children please pay close attention so there is no misunderstanding. Later. F**K YOU!” He ended his statement by saying, “As for me, I continue to thrive. I continue to be loved. I continue to walk with kings. And I will continue my pursuit of fairness and justice on behalf of my clients and others charged with crimes. After 25 years some of them still haven’t learned : Their lies and threats will never deter me from my mission. Thank you again my good friends. The struggle continues. Thank you.” Chris Darden had been on the receiving end of numerous threats since his decision to represent the man suspected of killing rapper Nipsey Hussle became public. His daughter, Jenee, went on social media after her father intially took the case, also saying that she was “receiving vile comments and messages.” “Like many of you, I found out about my father’s involvement in the case while scrolling through social media. I was not prepared for this backlash that has triggered bad memories from the O.J. Simpson trial.” Do you think Darden made the right decision in withdrawing from this case? Or is it too late?
