Soy Sauce Overdose Puts Man In Coma Make a mental note to watch your salt intake as it could leave you in a coma… According to NBC News: A young man who drank a quart of soy sauce went into a coma and nearly died from an excess of salt in his body, according to a recent case report. The 19-year-old, who drank the soy sauce after being dared by friends, is the first person known to have deliberately overdosed on such a high amount of salt and survived with no lasting neurological problems, according to the doctors in Virginia who reported his case. The case report was published online June 4 in the Journal of Emergency Medicine. Too much salt in the blood, a condition called hypernatremia, is usually seen in people with psychiatric conditions who develop a strong appetite for the condiment, said Dr. David J. Carlberg, who treated the young man and works as an emergency medicine physician at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. Hypernatremia is dangerous because it causes the brain to lose water. When there is too much salt in the bloodstream, water moves out of the body tissues and into the blood by the process of osmosis, to try to equalize the salt concentration between the two. As water the leaves the brain, the organ can shrink and bleed, Carlberg said. After the man drank the soy sauce, he began twitching and having seizures, and the friends took him to an emergency room. That hospital administered anti-seizure medication, and he was already in a coma when he was taken to the hospital where Carlberg was working, the University of Virginia Medical Center, nearly four hours after the event. “He didn’t respond to any of the stimuli that we gave him,” Carlberg said. “He had some clonus, which is just elevated reflexes. It’s a sign that basically the nervous system wasn’t working very well.” The team immediately began flushing the salt out of his system by administering a solution of water and the sugar dextrose through a nasal tube. When they placed the tube, streaks of brown material came out. Within a half hour, they pumped 1.5 gallons (6 liters) of sugar water into the man’s body. The man’s sodium levels returned to normal after about five hours. He remained in a coma for three days, but woke up on his own. For several days afterward, a part of his brain called the hippocampus showed residual effects from the seizures. But a month after the event, he showed no sign of the overdose : He was back at college, and doing well on his exams, doctors reported. A typical quart of soy sauce has more than 0.35 pounds (0.16 kilograms) of salt, the researchers said. Though it’s rare in the United States, consuming excess salt was a traditional method for suicide in ancient China, according to the case report. Carlberg said he believes the young man survived because the team got his sodium levels down so quickly. Damn, bet he won’t be partaking in any ridiculous azz dares anymore.
People really aint isht… American Teacher In China Popped For Sexually Abusing Students A sicko scumbag teacher in China is making a bad name for American teachers overseas after he was recently arrested for allegedly forcing sex on multiple students of both genders. via Fox News An American teacher at a top French school in Shanghai has reportedly been detained by authorities on suspicions of sexually assaulting at least seven students. The alleged abuse by a male teacher at the Lycee Francais de Shanghai came to light after families filed formal accusations against him, claiming he forced sex on and sexually abused children of both genders, the AFP reports. The teacher was arrested last month, and Chinese police have launched an investigation. “As parents we are devastated,” one mother told AFP, declining to reveal her identity for privacy concerns. A notice sent to parents referred to “sexual assaults,” but the school has not provided additional details. The U.S. Consulate in Shanghai has declined comment. People ain’t isht! Via NYDailyNews reports : A young girl had her mouth stitched up with fishing cord as part of a sickening campaign of abuse carried out by her own dad, police said. Xiao Li’s father, named only as Yang, allegedly dunked his 11-year-old daughter’s head in boiling water, pierced her skin with sewing needles and hung her upside down to beat her. He also forced her to kneel on a floor covered in shards of broken glass. The girl was found May 8, wandering alone and completely disoriented, on the streets of Shichang in China’s southwestern Guizhou Province. Covered in scars, and with much of her hair missing, she was taken to hospital where authorities said the cost of her medical treatment would be waived, Sky News reports . Yang was arrested and has reportedly confessed to his crimes. He said he plunged his girl’s head into the boiling water to try and get rid of lice, reports China Daily . The girl’s grandmother told reporters that Xiao Li’s parents left home for five years after she was born to find work. She claims Yang also abused her and that she was powerless to stop it. Government officials are now seeking guardians to take care of Xiao Li because her grandparents are too old. WTF is wrong with people? This is just heartbreaking. Two Chinese Women Arrested For Poisoning Kids According to Raw Story Chinese police have arrested the head of a kindergarten and her associate over the deaths of two children from a rival school who ate yoghurt injected with rat poison, state media said. The five- and six-year-old girls from northern Hebei province died after eating the yoghurt which they had found in a bag on the side of the road while walking to school with their grandmother. The rival kindergarten director Shi Haixia and her associate Yang Wenming “admitted that they injected the poison into the yoghurt and left it on the street”, the China Daily said. “Their intention was to damage the reputation of the rival kindergarten.” The poison contained a strong rat poison called tetramine, the China Daily said, citing a local security official. The pair were arrested on Wednesday, the same day the younger girl died after a week in hospital. The six-year-old died within hours of drinking the yoghurt on April 24. The China Daily cited a professor of primary education as saying that the murders exposed the problem of unregulated private schools that had sprung up to compensate for the lack of adequate public kindergartens. “This is an extreme case showing the lack of supervision in preschool education,” it quoted Yuan Ailing of East China Normal University as saying. Many children in the countryside are cared for by their grandparents because their parents have migrated to cities to find work. Imagine these up your… Eel Removed From Man’s Colon Via HuffPo reports: A man in China’s southeastern Guangdong province admitted himself to a local hospital after he reportedly got a live eel stuck inside him. According to British tabloid The Sun, the man inserted the 20-inch-long Asian swamp eel into his anus after seeing it done in a porn movie, and he had to endure all-night surgery to have it extracted. According to a HuffPost translation of a blogger’s post on Chinese message board forum Mop.com, the eel reportedly chewed through the man’s colon, perforating his large intestine, and became stuck in his body cavity. A graphic X-ray image (seen below) shows how far inside the eel was when the man came in for treatment. Medical team members reportedly said the eel, which was “simply trying to find its way out,” was alive when removed but died shortly thereafter. According to The Sun, the man is still recovering at the hospital and might face animal cruelty charges. The Asian swamp eel — also known as the rice eel or rice paddy eel — is a snake-shaped fish that is commonly sold live at food markets in East Asian countries. Although this type of eel is known as an invasive species in parts of the United States, this isn’t the first time that it’s made its way into (ahem) foreign habitats. He was trying to cop a f- eel.

No one knows how or why those victims were selected.
