Maksim Chmerkovskiy Calls Out Derek Hough, Won’t Apologize to Dancing With the Stars Judges

Maksim Chmerkovskiy sort of backed off his comments Monday about Dancing With the Stars being “his” show, but is still plenty pissed at the judges. Chmerkovskiy laid into Len Goodman , Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli after what he believed were scathing, personal critiques of his routine with Hope Solo. Lacey Schwimmer and Chaz Bono , who were eliminated Tuesday night, felt similarly and supported Maksim, but Ricki Lake’s partner Derek Hough took the judges’ side. That drew a stinging rebuke from Chmerkovskiy … “Derek Hough has been very supportive of his personal career on the show,” Maksim said in an interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America . “With all due respect, if I had Nicole Scherzinger followed by Jennifer Grey followed by Ricki Lake, I probably would not be upset with the judges either.” Maksim wishes he hadn’t said in the heat of the moment that DWTS is “his” show and he is the reason for its success, acknowledging it’s a team effort. But he won’t praise the judges, either. “I had a long conversation with my dad and I don’t regret anything,” he reflected on GMA . “That’s why I think I’m misunderstood in this situation.” “Everyone is waiting for me to bow my head and plead for forgiveness. I have nothing to apologize for. I’m in the business because I love it.” “The one thing I’m not going to embrace is pointing fingers and disrespectful remarks,” he explained. “Why are judges allowed to compare us to animals and point their fingers and then we can’t say our side and show our opinion?” “I can’t really lose with remarks like this.” Whose side are you on?

Hope Solo: Nude For ESPN Magazine!

Hope Solo is not sexy. Her words, not ours. “I still don’t buy the idea that I’m a sex symbol,” the 30-year-old soccer star tells ESPN magazine in its annual Body Issue , which features her nude on the cover. “Sure, I’ve had marriage proposals, invitations to military balls and prom offers. But my entire purpose is trying to be the best, and if that exudes beauty too … it means the image of the typical female body type is finally evolving.” As an international soccer star, Olympic gold medalist and Dancing With the Stars hopeful (Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s dream partner in fact), Hope is riding high these days. That wasn’t always the case for the athlete. “Growing up, I felt insecure about my build,” adds the 5’9″, 150-lb. Solo. “Guys would say, ‘Look at those muscles! You can kick my ass!’ I didn’t feel feminine.” “But that’s changed in the last four years.” What do you think of Hope Solo’s ESPN Magazine cover? Cheap gimmick or sending a positive message about body image? Share your comments with us below.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Recap: Rocky Mountain Lows & Other Hoopla

This week, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills finished up their trip to Beaver Creek and we take a look at who reached new high or low points in our +/- recap! Taylor was on a downward spiral. This girl was just a mess. Her moods have shifted from miserable to distraught to kind of scary. But the ladies earned a Plus 7 for trying to help, even though they weren’t all that successful at it. Kim took on the mothering role when she woke up to find a half naked, crying Taylor in her bed. I doubt she was expecting that. Having been divorced, Kim tries her best to console Taylor on her troubled marriage. Plus 8 for making the effort to point out that everyone has problems and Taylor’s not as alone as she feels. Camille, however seemed content to hide in her room and let the drama play out without her. Honestly, I couldn’t say I blamed her. I might hide too but she was the host. Minus 5 because she really should have checked on her guest. Taylor’s breakdown continued as she ended up crying in a closet and then became completely paranoid over a missing makeup bag. Heaven forbid dinner with the ladies not be in full makeup. The tears didn’t stop for dinner and at that point I began to wonder if there was more than alcohol fueling her meltdown. But Taylor is so thin and so emotionally fragile I don’t think it would take very much to drive her over the edge. Besides, all of the ladies bickering at once over what Taylor should do about her marriage would have been enough to send me screaming from the room. Minus 8 for not realizing when a little calm and quiet might be in order. I couldn’t believe Kyle was hesitant to tell Mauricio about the drama of their trip. It’s not like he hasn’t seen the ladies in action or that he wouldn’t hear about it elsewhere. Why not share the insanity?

Dancing With the Stars Season Premiere Recap: Go Chaz!

Dancing With the Stars kicked off its 13th season last night with all eyes on Chaz Bono. While the producers (sagely) saved his performance for last, we won’t make you wait for the verdict on his parquet debut: Not altogether terrible! The show’s first-ever transgender contestant is not exactly a natural dancer – his mom Cher made that clear – and it showed. However, with the guidance of Lacey Schwimmer, Chaz more than held his own out there.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Hope Solo

“Hope Solo!” Maksim Chmerkovskiy, 31, exclaimed to us at Wednesday#39;s 2011 ESPY Awards in Los Angeles when asked to name his dream partner for next season. “Let#39;s do it! I want somebody hot, I want somebody exciting, somebody passionate, and I#39;ll do the rest.” Hope Solo, 29, has led the Americans into the World Cup final against Japan. And Chmerkovskiy is hooked. “I#39;m watching every second of it,” he says of the tournament, which is being held in Germany. She#39;s accomplished plent

Dancing With the Stars Results: Elimination #2 is …

Monday’s Dancing With the Stars brought emotional routines and notable moments, such as Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Kirstie Alley taking a spill, but rising again. As far as scoring was concerned, talk show host Wendy Williams earned the night’s lowest scores – just 15 points out of 30 – for a stiff fox trot with Tony Dovolani. She was well back of the field, but was there a chance voters could propel her past another low flier, like Chris Jericho, to survive another week on DWTS? Follow the jump to see who was eliminated on the results show … Wendy Williams was in fact was eliminated on the results show. While she dubiously (and probably jokingly) was later quoted as saying “we were robbed,” she exited the ballroom gracefully and with trademark humor. There was also an element of relief in this for her. “I’m probably the busiest person in terms of flying back and forth. In addition to that, I have a marriage and a child and a litany of other things,” she said. Silver lining found. Williams thanked the judges and her partner, Tony Dovolani, “for teaching me how to dance,” implying that he accomplished a lot. “Despite stereotypes, this is one black girl who can’t do the running man.” So far, the first two results show have gone according to plan as far as scoring is concerned. Nine remain. Who do you think will win this? [Photos: ABC]

Jake Pavelka is Bold, Beautiful

After appearing on The Bachelorette, starring as The Bachelor and competing on Dancing With the Stars, Jake Pavelka is trying to launch a real acting career. Today, he appeared on the CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful . “I play a pilot,” said Pavelka, who is/was a pilot before becoming a professional reality star. “What’s ironic is that it’s harder to play a pilot than to be a pilot!” Jake signs an autograph for someone who needs a hobby . Pavelka was offered the role in part because B&B producer Brad Bell flies planes, too. “He’s a pilot himself and we had a whole lot in common,” says Pavelka. Also soaring is Pavelka’s love life – he and wedding planner Meghan Jones are going strong. If that doesn’t work out, there’s always The Bachelor again. Hey, it worked for Brad Womack. “I read that story that I was begging to be The Bachelor again,” says Jake, who was producers’ backup plan after Kiptyn Locke, Reid Rosenthal, Womack and Maksim Chmerkovskiy (seriously) all turned it down. “That was news to me.”
