Ready for a second helping of Cookie? Fox has announced a premiere date for Empire Season 2 , which will be comprised of 18 total episodes and broken into two nine-episode halves. And the first one will air on Wednesday, September 23 at 9/8c. Empire Season 1 shattered ratings records for Fox, doing the nearly impossible by actually gaining viewers for nine consecutive weeks. We already know that a trio of special guest stars will stop by at some point this fall. They include comedian Chris Rock, R&B superstar Alicia Keys and rock legend Lenny Kravitz. It’s unclear, however, whether these celebrities will be portraying themselves. Elsewhere, Gabourey Sidibe (Becky) and Ta’Rhonda Jones (Porsha), who portray the underlings of Lucious and Cookie, have both been upped to series regular status for Season 2. Curious what all the excitement is over? Hurry up and watch Empire online via our friends at TV Fanatic to find out. View Slideshow: 9 TV Shows That SHOULD Be Canceled
