Josh Hutcherson Wants ‘Some Sort Of Friendship’ With Kristen Stewart

‘Hunger Games’ star reconnects with his ‘Zathura’ co-star at the MTV Movie Awards for the first time in five years. By Fallon Prinzivalli, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Josh Hutcherson backstage at the MTV Movie Awards Photo: MTV News “The Hunger Games” and “Twilight” collided over the weekend at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards when Josh Hutcherson ran into his “Zathura” co-star backstage. “I actually got to talk to Kristen Stewart tonight for the first time in five years, at least,” Hutcherson revealed to MTV News. “That was awesome to connect with her again, especially after everything that’s happened to the both of us [with ‘Twilight’ and ‘The Hunger Games’]. It’s nice to just kind of be able to talk again and hopefully have some sort of friendship. She’s fantastic.” “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” slayed the dystopian thriller out of the Best Kiss and Movie of the Year awards, but the actor promised there are no hard feelings between the two franchises. “Honestly, you know what? I’ve never really felt it to be a competition. And I wish I could pretend like it was ’cause it’d be fun, [but] it’s so not. Their cast is fantastic, our cast is fantastic and there’s never been any bloodshed. … Not yet,” he teased. Hutcherson certainly didn’t go home empty handed. Thanks to his adoring fans, he took home the Golden Popcorn for Best Fight along with the honor of Best Male Performance . “Just to be here is always fun, and then to be nominated on top of that is amazing, but to actually win something is surreal,” he said. “Best Male means so much to me. The people I was in that category with, like Ryan Gosling, I’ve said publicly how much I want to be him. The fact that I’m considered on the somewhat same level, it’s just mind-blowing.” The excitement for the actor didn’t stop there. He caught one of the most iconic performances of Movie Awards history when Johnny Depp took the stage with the Black Keys to perform “Gold on the Ceiling.” “I missed Fun., which I was disappointed in ’cause I wasn’t there — as one does when they miss something,” he laughed. “But Depp and Black Keys, one of my favorite actors and one of my favorite bands combined, I was just like, my mind was exploding. It was incredible. “I was like, ‘How are there not more people losing their minds?’ ” he added. “It was pretty insane. I didn’t know he played the guitar, let alone could be a rock guy rockin’ out and do all these things. It was pretty awesome.” And like everyone else with a semblance of interest in this summer’s box office, Hutcherson was thrilled to take in some never-before-seen footage of Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises.” “I’m a huge Batman fan. Growing up I actually thought I was Batman,” he said. “I wore a Batman mask and cape around until I was like 14 years old. For me, that movie is going to be the most epic thing of the summer, for sure.” Once he helps Katniss save the citizens of Panem, maybe he can take over Christian Bale’s role and rid Gotham of its evil? ” No. No way,” he said with a laugh. “Bruce Wayne, I have to stay away from that. It’s too much.”

Carrying the Banner for Newsies the Movie

Ditto what New Yorker writer Hannah Goldfield says of Disney’s 1992 flop-turned- Broadway hit Newsies , though I loathed the tepid romance between Christian Bale ‘s Jack and that useless Sarah girl. Ahem : “A movie is fixed, eternal. Your perception of it may change slightly each time you watch it, but nothing else, not the tiniest of details, will. It’s a precise memory you can return to, over and over—I know I’ve found a movie I’ll love forever if I have the feeling of wanting to watch it again immediately after it ends…” [ New Yorker ]

Christopher Nolan‘s Dark Knight movies take their titles very literally, don’t they? We had to adjust our monitors just to see the new TV spots from The Dark Knight Rises. ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Fans Cast Lead Roles At E L James’ Book Signing

From Ryan Reynolds to Alexis Bledel, book’s fans tell MTV News who they think should play the famous S&M couple in movie version. By Fallon Prinzivalli E.L. James at the “50 Shades Of Grey” Q&A in New York City Photo: Getty Images NEW YORK — Film adaptations of beloved novels never cease to cause frenzy among fans as to which actors deserve which roles. We saw it with “Twilight” and, more recently, with “The Hunger Games.” And E L James’ popular book “Fifty Shades of Grey” is no different. When the author made her way into New York’s Union Square for a book signing at Barnes & Noble, MTV News was on the scene to witness readers avidly campaigning for who they’d like to see land the lead roles. “Personally, I want Christian Bale to play Christian Grey because of his experience with ‘American Psycho,’ ” one fan told us. “I feel like he could be perfect. Some people think he’s too old, but this is Hollywood — we could fix that. You know, we can give him some laser, minimize some fine lines, he’s good to go. He’s the one. I want that one.” The rights to the New York Times best-seller were optioned by Universal Pictures and Focus Features back in March, which is when casting rumors began to swirl. The interest has yet to die down as both Ian Somerhalder and Alexander Skarsg

Batman’s Codpiece and Catwoman’s Butt: Equal Opportunity Ogling from The Dark Knight Rises

Oh…my… GOD , Becky — look at Catwoman ‘s butt. Ahem . In a new promo image from The Dark Knight Rises , Anne Hathaway poses as Catwoman and shows, as many salivating fanboys have already suggested, just why the Batman sequel might’ve earned that PG-13 for “sensuality.” But wait! Why is everyone talking about Catwoman’s butt and not Batman ‘s meticulously sculpted-but-jaunty rubberized codpiece? Equal opportunity for costumed cosplay ogling after the jump, thanks to two new promo images for the July tentpole. First, we’ll start with this suggestively perky, full-length look at Hathaway as Catwoman, unearthed today on the internetz (hat tip ComingSoon ): A mask and cat-ear goggles? Leather gloves over a bodysuit also made of leather, with thigh-high boots to boot? This is one layered lady. I bet she makes that squeaking leather sound when she walks. Now, maybe Catwoman’s using her butt as yet another deadly weapon. Or maybe when you wear giant stiletto shit-kicking heels like that, one’s rear lifts naturally (welcome to the world of woman secrets, fellas). Ok, fine. Take a good gander. Now, can we move on to…Batman’s bat-junk? Behold, from the current issue of EW : I don’t know about you, but this kind of overly structured superhero outfit feels excessive and a little exhausting to look at. I can’t picture anyone toiling away somewhere in the Bat-sweatshop making every little molded rubber part of Batman’s faux six-pack, though it is funny to imagine the rationale for such a design: He needs protection… for each pack ! Do you think Bruce Wayne toiled very long over the agonizing decision to go with the muted bronze of his utility belt? How does one fit oneself for the perfectly proportioned superhero codpiece? The above image comes from EW’s Summer Movie Preview issue, which was accompanied by various Chris Nolan non-spoiler quotes and this very interesting tidbit concerning baddie Bane , played by Tom Hardy , and his unusual voice: “It’s a risk, because we could be laughed at — or it could be very fresh and exciting,” says Hardy, adding that the voice he developed was influenced by many factors, including a desire to honor the comic book character’s brains and Caribbean heritage. “The audience mustn’t be too concerned about the mumbly voice,” says Hardy. “As the film progresses, I think you’ll be able to tune to its setting.” Aha! And so we kind of get an answer in the great Bane ethnicity debate: Hardy is seemingly playing the villain true to his Caribbean/Latin heritage as written in the comics, which hardly closes the book on the issue. The fact that Bane’s being played by a white guy could conceivably still be explained away in the film; the character’s comic book origins cite a British mercenary father and a local rebel mother, which seems to make Bane half-Latino, half-Caucasian. But time will tell. For now, we have butts and junk to stare at. [ ComingSoon , EW ]

The Dark Knight Rises Poster: The Legend Ends?

Warner Bros. has come out with a new poster for The Dark Knight Rises , and it does not bode well for a certain Caped Crusader. Featuring Tom Hardy’s Bane standing over a fallen Batman mask, along with cracks in the iconic logo, the image teases this July 2012 blockbuster, which reportedly is set eight years after events that concluded the previous installment. Director Christopher Nolan – who, along with Christian Bale, will bow out of the franchise after their third film together – has said the opening of The Dark Knight Rises “takes your breath away.” We don’t doubt it. Check out the official Dark Knight Rises trailer now and let the countdown to next summer begin!

Christian Bale Completes "End of the Batman Era"

Filming on The Dark Knight Rises has come to an end and, with it, so has the portrayal of this iconic super hero by Christian Bale. “I wrapped a few days ago so that will be the last time I’m taking that [Batman hood] off,” the actor star told the Philippine Daily Inquirer this week. “I believe that the whole production wrapped yesterday, so it’s all done. Everything’s finished. It’s me and [director Christopher Nolan] – that will be the end of that Batman era.” The Dark Knight Rises Trailer Bale and Nolan first teamed up in 2005 on Batman Begins , a critically-acclaimed installment of the franchise that earned $372 million across the globe. The Dark Knight then broke the $1 billion barrier and earned Heath Ledger a posthumous Oscar. The Dark Knight Rises , meanwhile, hits theaters on July 20, 2012 and also stars Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman. We have a feeling it will do rather well at the box office.
