Gay Therapy Ministry Designed To Cure Same-Sex Attraction Shuts Down A Christian ministry program that was put in place for the purpose of curing gay people of their sexual orientation has finally decided to close its’ door after 37 years in practice. via NBC News Former participants in a controversial program aimed at ridding people of their h*m*se*uality congratulated its leader for deciding to shut down its ministry, but other groups said there was a role for the “reparative therapy” used in the “ex-gay movement.” The Christian ministry, Exodus International, was founded in 1976 and claims more than 200 branches, churches and counselors in the United States and Canada. It insisted that people could overcome same-sex attraction through prayer and therapy. But mainstream psychiatric and medical groups have said that program, also known as “reparative therapy,” is not founded in science and can be harmful. The American Psychiatric Association said 15 years ago that it could cause depression, anxiety and self-depressive behavior in patients. In a statement, Exodus International, which describes itself as the oldest and largest group of its kind, said that its board of directors had decided to close down after a year of talking and praying about its place in a changing culture. The Christian Broadcasting Network is sort of sorry if Pat Robertson came across a chauvinistic pig this week. The televangelist appeared on The 700 Club Wednesday and responded to a viewer’s question about how to forgive a cheating husband by initially telling her to focus on the man’s positive traits. “Does he provide a home for you to live in? Does he provide food for you to eat?” Robertson asked. “Is he handsome?” Pat Robertson Cheating Advice: Suck It Up! Robertson – who shrugged off David Petraeus’ affair with Paula Broadwell because the latter is attractive – then caused a real firestorm with his closing remarks: “Males have a tendency to wander a little bit, and what you want to do it make the home so wonderful that he doesn’t want to wander.” In response to severe backlash, from other Christian leaders and the Internet as a whole, the network has released the following statement: “As a first step in the process, Dr. Robertson stated that she should stop dwelling on the cheating. Next, he recommended that she remind herself of all the reasons she fell in love with him in the first place so that she might try to fall back in love with him all over again. “Lastly, his point was that everyone is human and there is much temptation outside of the home, so she should do whatever she can to strengthen their home and relationship. His intent was not to condone infidelity or to cast blame. We regret any misunderstanding.” In the past, Robertson has said that ugly women are to blame for marital problems between husband and wife. It may simply be time people stop seeking his relationship counsel.

Michele Bachmann (R-MN) told a group of conservative lawmakers gathered for a prayer event that the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 and the siege of the U.S. embassy in Benghazi, Libya were “the hand of judgment” from God. According to Right Wing Watch, the event, held in the Capitol’s Statuary Hall, was called “Washington: A Man of Prayer.” The event began with some a cappella Christian singing and progressed with a series of conservative Christian speakers, including Bachmann, who urged lawmakers and others to join her and “birther” author Joseph Farah of World Net Daily for “9/11 Pray,” a day of repentance, prayer and fasting on September 11, 2013. “It’s no secret that our nation may very well be experiencing the hand of judgment,” said Bachmann Wednesday. “It’s no secret that we all are concerned that our nation may be in a time of decline.” She went on to say that only God could set the nation to rights. “The answer is what we are doing here today: humbling ourselves before an almighty God, crying out to an almighty God, saying not of ourselves but you, would you save us, oh God? We repent of our sins, we turn away from them, we seek you, we seek your ways,” she said. “Our nation has seen judgment not once but twice on September 11,” she said, meaning the terrorist attacks of 9/11/2001 and the 2012 attack in Benghazi. “That’s why we’re going to have ‘9/11 Pray’ on that day. Is there anything better that we can do on that day rather than to humble ourselves and to pray to an almighty God?” We think Michelle is piff-puffin on that sticky icky.

Christian Chavez, a major television star in Mexico and a popular pop singer around the world, was arrested today following an alleged altercation with his boyfriend. Chavez – who sky-rocketed to fame on the Spanish soap opera Rebelde and whose former band, RBD, sold 20 million albums – was taken into custody early this morning. According to TMZ source, Chavez and his partner were booked on charges of felony domestic violence, as each were spotted with visible injuries. The couple has been an item for approximately 18 months. The District Attorney will review the evidence and decide whether or not to prosecute.
