Fantasia’s Gone Gospel And Is All Set To Headline This Years Super Bowl Gospelfest

Watch out Bey, you’re not the only one performing during the Super Bowl … weekend. Via NewsOne : R&B songstress Fantasia Barrino (pictured) will be headlining the much-anticipated Super Bowl Gospel Celebration, which takes place at the University of New Orleans Lakefront Arena on Friday, February 1 during Super Bowl week. The actual game is being played at the New Orleans Superdome on Feb. 3, with Beyoncé featured as the halftime performer. The event will be hosted by ABC’s “The View” co-host Sherri Shepherd and one of gospel music’s finest singer/writer/producers Kirk Franklin. Some of gospel’s crème de la crème will also be on hand to perform at the 14th annual musicfest. Donnie McClurkin, Marvin Winans and Bishop Paul S. Morton of New Orleans are slated to perform. There will also be a performance by this year’s NFL “Players’ Choice” hip-hop Christian artist Lecrae, as well as the NFL Players Choir, composed of about 40 current and former players. The choir was formed by Christian NFL players who wanted to share their belief in God and inspire others through music. Founded by Melanie Few-Harrison, president of Results Marketing & Media, Inc., the Super Bowl Gospel Celebration got its start back in 1999 in Miami during Super Bowl XXXIII weekend. In 2002, the event became the first–and remains the only–gospel event sanctioned by the NFL. To date, the event has drawn immense crowds and attendance levels continue to peak each year. The Lowest-Grossing Film Of 2012 Made Less Than $300. Wait, What?

2012’s lowest-grossing film has been revealed, and people, this one kind of hurts. [ Related: Domestic Box Office Rises In Dollars And Audiences In 2012 ] The Christian Slater horror film Playback gathered an astonishing $264.00 – yes, that’s two hundred and sixty four – in theaters. Well, theater, to be exact; it only showed for one week in a single cinema. The figure gives Playback the honor as 2012’s lowest grossing film of the year. It earned $252.00 on opening night and just 12 dollars more during the following week, after which it was pulled. It has since made its way to VOD via Netflix and Amazon Prime. That has got to hurt, but when your career includes Gleaming the Cube and Hard Rain , at least you’re probably prepared for the emotional toll. Still, it makes me wince, even 20 years later, every time I’m reminded that I once actually liked Christian Slater movies. At least Heathers and True Romance still hold up*! As 2012 comes to a depressingly apocalypse-free conclusion, it’s not surprising that we’re seeing the last, painful lists of ignobility slipping out at the last minute. What better way to prepare ourselves for the new year than by embracing obstacles head on. If yesterday’s news of the most pirated movies proves that a bumper crop (cash-wise) for Hollywood doesn’t mean there still isn’t a problem with pilfered films, today’s offers unexpected confirmation that F. Scott Fitzgerald might have been right about there not being any second acts in American lives. At least for formerly successful actors. So at least we can all take comfort that our English teachers may have been onto something after all. * Well, True Romance, at least.

Jesus Take The Wheel: Philadelphia Man Beats His Girlfriend’s 5-Year-Old Son To Death For Reading Struggles!

This is so f**king sad… Via Philly The little boy was stuck on the word sad. Five-year-old Dashawn Harris had already endured hours of pain during his “home-schooling” phonics lesson, and with every mistake came another big-fisted punch or stinging lash from his mother’s boyfriend’s black leather belt. He was crying and bleeding, and his mother was doing nothing to stop it. Now he was having trouble sounding out the “a” in sad. Christian Patrick, 25, a convicted drug dealer, lived with Dashawn’s mother, Lashay Patterson, in her unkempt North Philadelphia apartment. Patrick, called “Dude” by Patterson, later told police he had wanted to try a new method of teaching during the Nov. 30 lesson. He was going to be nice and not holler so much, he said. But Dashawn was acting like he didn’t know anything, he said, and that made him mad. WTF?! “When he got the ‘a’ part, I told him to tell me the last part of sad, because I wanted him to say it correctly,” Patrick told police. “I told him if he didn’t tell me the letter that made the ‘d’ sound, he was going to get another beating. So he said the letter ‘w,’ and I told him he was wrong, and he just started saying every letter except the ‘d’ sound, so I beat him again.” That is how the final hours of Dashawn Harris’ life were described during a preliminary hearing Wednesday morning. Covered in bruises, Dashawn was already dead when Patterson and Patrick finally called an ambulance early Dec. 1. The couple tried raising the boy’s dropping body temperature by placing a hair drier against his stomach, removing it when Dashawn managed to moan in pain. They taped toilet paper over the burn. Patterson and Patrick initially told police that Dashawn fell off a bicycle before giving statements describing the months of pain they inflicted. We gotta warn you, this next part is enough to break your heart into a million pieces. Patrick, about 6 feet tall, weighing 230 pounds, said he warned Dashawn that if he did not finish his work, he would have to eat the previous night’s soup instead of pizza. He threatened to take away Christmas. “But that seemed not to faze him, either,” he told police. “I told him, if he kept acting like he didn’t want to do his work, I’m going to beat him.” He beat him with a belt, but Dashawn wouldn’t stand still, so he punched him in the chest “like five times.” When Dashawn got stuck on sad, he began punching him again. “His eyes went real low and he was sitting on the floor, and you could see him breathing, but he looked like he was passing out,” Patrick said. Both Lashay and Christian were charged with 1st degree murder, as they should be. Image via Philly.com

LeAnn Rimes Drunk on X-Factor of the Day

I don’t know what people expected from LeAnn Rimes who went from being a country superstar, child prodigy, wholesome country girl….you know the kind of girl Christian folk could appreciate and relate to…to pretty much being nothing by a fucking hooker, who destroys marriages, doesn’t eat, rocking some fake tits and a mangled face….who fell off the map and doesn’t perform live anymore….when they booked her to perform live….but I could have predicted it was gonna be a wreck…cuz she’s a fucking wreck… TO SEE THE VIDEO FOLLOW THIS LINK Even Britney’s not impressed…and Britney’s a fucking wreck too….a wreck judging a wreck…upstaged by new blood who will end up being a wreck…. Here’s an update – LeAnn says the X-Factor Girl’s Shit Performance made her look drunk… LeAnn says she was in no way impaired, and any awkwardness was because “I was trying to help this 13-year-old girl who was having some trouble with the song.” LeAnn believes Carly Rose Sonenclar was very nervous and had difficulty with some of the notes and she was doing her best to help her get through it. LeAnn’s lawyer, Larry Stein, who spoke with LeAnn a few minutes ago, tells TMZ “LeAnn was not performing the way she would normally perform, because she was on stage with a young girl.” TO SEE THE VIDEO FOLLOW THIS LINK

Samantha Steele and Christian Ponder: Already Married!

Wow. That was faster than an Adrian Peterson touchdown run. Just two weeks after announcing their engagement, Samantha Steele and Christian Ponder were married yesterday. The couple exchanged vows inside a Minnesota courtroom. Steele is an ESPN college football reporter, while Ponder tries really hard to play quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings. He only has a 78.6 rating and 14 touchdown passes this year, however. Still… look at Steele! Ponder may be unable to hit Percy Harvin on a crossing pattern, but he must be doing something right when he’s practicing out patterns at night with such a personal tight end. If you know what we mean! Congrats to the happy couple.

Rumor Control: Jovan Belcher’s Mother Puts Paternity Questions To Rest “Zoey Is Jovan’s Baby And My Grandbaby, I Never Had Any Doubt”

Phew, well that’s a relief. Jovan Belcher’s mom ain’t with all the reckless rumors about her grandbaby’s paternity and claims reporters went rogue with a recent report that her son fought his child’s mother because he had doubts about whether he fathered her child. Via NY Daily News reports : Jovan Belcher’s mother angrily denied a report that claimed she told investigators that her son had argued with his girlfriend about the paternity of their baby before he shot her dead and killed himself. “It’s a lie. It’s all a lie,” Cheryl Shepherd told the Daily News on Friday. “That’s my grandbaby and it was wrong for them to put that out there. That is Jovan’s baby and it is my grandbaby.” The New York Post, citing an unnamed law-enforcement source and an anonymous Kansas City Chiefs insider, reported that Shepherd told authorities that the couple had argued over the paternity of 3-month old Zoey on the morning of Dec. 1. That would have been right before the Chiefs linebacker shot Kasandra Perkins, then drove to Arrowhead Stadium, where he shot and killed himself in front of the team’s general manager, head coach and an assistant coach. Shepherd, from West Babylon, L.I., was at Belcher’s Kansas City home when Perkins was shot, and made a desperate 911 call in an attempt to save her. She told The News there was never an argument about the identity of the child’s biological father. “I never said that,” she said. “You are hearing it from the horse’s mouth. Zoey is Jovan’s baby and my grandbaby. I have never had any doubt.” A Kansas City Police Department spokesman said the lead investigator in the case had not uncovered any information that corroborated the report. “We haven’t had anyone give us that information,” Darin Snapp, the KCPD public information officer, told The News. “I talked to the lead detective on the case, and he hasn’t received any information of that nature. It might be true, but none of the witnesses or people we have talked to have provided that information. I can’t confirm that (report).” Snapp added that the case file had been turned over to a prosecutor’s office, and that if any paternity issue surfaced, it would be handled as a civil matter. Shepherd has maintained custody of Zoey, although Perkins’ family — the 22-year-old Kasandra was from Texas — indicated in a statement that it would be involved in the girl’s upbringing. An open-casket wake for Belcher was held in Dix Hills, L.I., on Tuesday, and a funeral was held on Wednesday at the Upper Room Christian World Center. Belcher was a star player at West Babylon High School and attended the University of Maine before playing for the Chiefs. “I’m not going to say anymore, but I want you to put this out there: That baby is Jovan’s baby. That baby is my grandbaby,” Shepherd said. You tell ‘em mama!
