It’s been quite an interesting few months in the life of Derick Dillard. It all started, of course, when Derick got fired by TLC after harassing transgender teen and fellow network star Jazz Jennings in a bizarre Twitter tirade. Derick issued an explanation for his remarks that he probably thinks qualifies as an apology, but fans weren’t buying it, and most seemed happy to see him go. Earlier this week, Derick doubled down on his homophobia by promoting a speaking engagement by a pastor who became famous for his support of the abhorrent practice of conversion therapy. It briefly seemed that Derick had taken an “in for a penny, in for a pound” approach to his own bigotry and decided that since he’d already been fired from TLC, the time was right to rebrand himself as a far-right firebrand. Today, however, something interesting occurred on Derick’s Twitter page. “I want to personally invite any LGBTQ person & anyone else who would like to come with my family and me to church next Sunday. See you there!” Derick tweeted. These days, it seems that Derick is supporting his family almost entirely through monetary donations from fans , so many were suspicious that the tweet was simply a publicity stunt or part of an effort to rebuild his image. But some expressed an interest in taking him up on the invitation. One woman identified herself as an atheist and asked if it was okay for her to attend services with Derick and his family. The former reality star astonished many Duggar fans when he responded, “Absolutely!” Some expressed outright shock that Derick would invite someone whose beliefs are so different from his own into his house of worship. The mini-controversy comes on the heels of reports that Derick’s wife, Jill Duggar, had turned her back on her beliefs due to an Instagram post in which she revealed that she’s reading a book with sections addressed to those who are questioning their faith in God. In the end, however, it turned out there was really nothing to either scandal. Jill was simply offering support to those whose belief had wavered, while Derick is apparently hoping to convert some non-believers, which is actually one of the expressed duties of Independent Baptists. Catelynn Lowell has been back in rehab for about a month now — and good for her, right? If you’ve been keeping up with this whole sad story, you know that she’s currently on her second rehab stay in the past three months, and her third in the past two years. The first time she went to a treatment center, back in 2016, the issue was a pretty severe case of postpartum depression she’d been dealing with since giving birth to her daughter a year before. The second time was in November, when she checked into the same treatment center after admitting that she’d been struggling with some suicidal thoughts . She did check out early that time because she reportedly felt guilty at the prospect of being away from her little girl for the holidays. But thankfully, she quickly realized that her mental health was more important than Christmas, and also that she simply wasn’t ready to be home yet. So she went back, completed her six weeks of treatment, then went back home. Then just a few weeks later, Catelynn made the tough decision to go back again for another six weeks, this time to work through some of her childhood trauma. She also said she needed to get some issues with her medications sorted out. Unlike last time, she’s been silent on social media, which is definitely for the best. During her last stay, she was on Twitter a bit, even taking the time to make fun of Farrah Abraham, which didn’t seem like the best way for her to spend her time there. While it’s good that she’s focusing so hard on her issues, we’d be lying if we said we weren’t wondering about how she’s been doing. But don’t worry — Tyler’s got us covered! Last weekend, Tyler said that he and Nova would be away all week at Catelynn’s facility, doing family therapy together — or at least he would be involved with the therapy, it wasn’t clear what exactly Nova would be getting into. He predicted that it would be a tough week for everyone, and it’s easy to understand why. But no matter how tough things were, Tyler’s love for Catelynn is just as strong as ever. In one of his customary sappy, sweet Instagram posts, he shared this adorable photo of himself with Cate, and in the caption, he wrote that “Seeing this gorgeous woman & all the work she has done has given me such hope, a feeling of peace, and unconditional love that is hard to explain with words.” “It was a very emotionally intense Family Week Program, but I know that our love & commitment towards each other will persevere through anything this life throws our way.” “I’m so proud of you Babe,” he added, “and I can’t wait until you finally come home so I can just hug you & hold you for as long as I want.” “You are worthy…You are strong…You are beautiful…You are loved! Thank you for not giving up on your life.” He also threw in hashtags like “my babe,” “my wife,” and “soulmate,” just in case your heart wasn’t touched enough already. A little while later, Tyler shared a couple more photos, this time explaining that “Marriage & relationships aren’t always sunshine & rainbows.” “I believe love begins as a feeling, but evolves into a choice. A choice to sacrifice for that person, a choice of dedicated commitment to one another & understanding the selfless acts that are required from both to maintain serenity.” How darling is that? Cate shared one of the photos too, and she captioned hers “SO HAPPY I got to see you today!!! Until next time my love!” It’s not much to go on, but she does sound happy, and in the photos she actually looks pretty radiant. Once again, it seems that Little People, Big World star Amy Roloff just can’t win. When she’s “too close” with her boyfriend, she gets dragged for “living in sin.” by people who hate her relationship and don’t seem to like her that much, either. But now that she’s taken a photo in which Chris Marek is conspicuously absent … fans can’t help but wonder if there’s trouble in their relationship. Matt Roloff and Amy Roloff created a beautiful family together. But literally all marriages end — either in death or a break-up. Amy and Matt are divorced. Though they both still live nearby and both are very close to their children and two grandbabies (and Matt and Amy even partied together for the sake of their son), they have both moved on with their lives. Matt Roloff has moved on with girlfriend Caryn Chandler. And Amy Roloff has, as fans are well aware, moved on with boyfriend Chris Marek. Amy Roloff shared this cute photo featuring herself and four friends, captioning it: “There are treasures in life that are precious and one of them are friends. Good time w/ these friends just hanging out and listening g to local music at Pizzario Hillsboro.” It’s always nice — for those of us who aren’t bitter that Amy has the audacity to enjoy her life after divorce — to see Amy having a good time with what she refers to as “Amy’s Second Act.” But some fans noticed that the pic was different than most of those that Amy shares of her social life. Because Chris Marek was nowhere to be seen. As absurd as it sounds, people took to the captions to ask why Chris Marek, who’s usually by Amy’s side, was missing in action. “Where is Chris on valentines day? Hmm,” one commenter wrote. This photo was taken days before Valentine’s Day, but thanks for playing. “Where’s Chris?” another asked, followed by another: “And Chris??” You can almost feel their eagerness to hear of a breakup, or at least a squabble. Others played something of a guessing game, suggesting that maybe Chris Marek had taken the photo. For what it’s worth, Amy clarified that Chris Marek had other friends. The fact that she even needed to respond to those questions is … absurd. Couples don’t need to be joined at the hip at all time. Amy Roloff doesn’t need Chris Marek as an escort wherever she goes, and the same is true of Chris. They love each other and have a happy relationship, and can do separate activities at night. They should be able to do so without anyone freaking out. You know what’s really at work here? Aside from divorce-shaming and misogyny, we mean. Some people, though they at least have enough shame to not admit it, “don’t trust” Chris Marek because they don’t think that Amy Roloff — as a little person — should be of interest to someone of Chris’ height. Mo’Nique Fires Back At Jawn Murray With Email Transcripts Remember last week when entertainment reporter Jawn Murray read aloud an e-mail from Producer Will Packer to Mo’Nique’s manager/husband Sidney Hicks? In the letter, Packer essentially read Sidney down, essentially calling him unprofessional and a con-artist attempting to shake down production and marketing in “Almost Christmas” for more cash while Mo’Nique and he were rude and nasty to anyone in their orbit. Well now, Mo’Nique is firing back, posting the full e-mails and stating that the full exchange would reveal the “true, behind the scenes view” of what really happened. Although, Sidney’s lengthy, somewhat meandering response didn’t seem to address or refute much of what Packer said — just a lot of insinuation that Packer was smashing his assistant on the film and many paragraphs about how incredulous he was at Packer’s audacity to say the things he said in his original e-mail. We pick back up with Bianca and Bri’s brawl at Yandy and Remy Ma’s attempted peace talk. By this point, Dreamdoll jumps in on behalf of Bri and then MariahLynn pops off for her girl Bianca. Yandy mentions once again that the constant fighting is why she severed business ties with Bianca. Remy says that this is making her reconsider working with MariahLynn on a track. In short, Bianca is no longer invited to St. Maarten since she’s the one that started all of this. It is really silly that she has had how many fights with Bri (that she started) and still hasn’t gotten it out of her system. via GIPHY Later on, we find out that Remy isn’t even going on the trip because she has to start IVF around the same time, by doctor’s orders. via GIPHY Anais and Jonathan get together to celebrate his birthday. Anais mentions that she’s back at home with her kids, but it’s not quite all-good with Ruben yet and she’s not sure about whether they’re getting divorced or not. Then Yandy and Juju show up and Anais says she feels some type of way about Yandy. Basically, she’s jealous of Yandy and Jonathan’s friendship and feels like Yandy is stealing him away from her. Yandy eventually starts talking about her upcoming charity work trip in St. Maarten and Jonathan suggests that Anais come as his plus one to help her escape the madness she created in her life. Yandy stresses that this is a work trip and that there better be no shenanigans. via GIPHY DJ Self meets up with MariahLynn and tells her that she needs to go to St. Maarten and act like she has some sense, especially because DJ Self wants her to join Safaree and co (aka Bri, Dreamdoll, etc) to record a song for a hurricane relief effort and she has to learn how to keep her hands to herself. MariahLynn agrees. We’ll see how this goes. This is her last chance with DJ Self. Now we’re in St. Maarten. Jonathan, Bri and Anais are staying at Yandy’s villa and Anais starts acting a fool immediately. They’re supposed to be packing boxes with supplies but Anais comes out in a bathing suit and tries to lounge and drink cocktails like this is a vacation. via GIPHY Jonathan and Yandy call Anais out and give her major side eye, but you know Anais does what she wants. via GIPHY Safaree (still wearing a fur coat in a hot arse caribbean island), Jaquae (invited by Safaree) , MariahLynn and Juju get to the latter two’s villa. You already saw how Kiyanne acted around Sophia Body, so Jaquae is rightfully nervous. Meanwhile back in New York, Bianca is preparing for a major performance coming up and she invites Hennessy Carolina (Cardi B’s little sister), who just finished fashion school, to help her pick out and outfit and to vent about what has been happening with Yandy and how they went to St. Maarten without her. She’s especially pissed that MariahLynn went on the trip and didn’t tell her until the last minute. via GIPHY Back in St. Maarten, we find Yandy and co handing out lunches to school children. It’s all good until Anais decides to pull Yandy aside because she feels like Yandy has been judging her. Yandy says Anais is tripping and cites the whole Anais trying to chill while they were supposed to be working thing. Basically, this once again boils down to Anais being jealous that Yandy is also friends with Jonathan. Anais threatens to bring out her crazy side. Yandy says she handles crazy well (and if you’ve seen how she deals with Mendeecees’ babymamas then you know it’s true), which only upsets Anais even more. Anais starts spouting off random incoherent obscenities and Yandy walks away, unbothered.
