Jessica Biel, Kate Beckinsale, Jodie Foster To Present At Movie Awards!

Tune in for the extra dose of girl power Sunday at 9 p.m. ET! By Ryan J. Downey Jessica Biel Photo: Bryan Bedder/ Getty Images One gal has played a vampire, another a vampire hunter and the third (and most distinguished of them all) hunted a smooth-talking killer who made up for his lack of supernatural superpowers with an overabundance of vampire-like appetite. Jessica Biel, Kate Beckinsale and Jodie Foster have been added to the list of presenters at the Sunday’s 2012 MTV Movie Awards . Biel, who hunted vampires alongside Ryan Reynolds and Wesley Snipes in “Blade: Trinity,” will hopefully keep her slaying prowess restrained around the stars from “Twilight” and the rest of the otherworldly and sci-fi types at the celeb-packed affair. Beckinsale, of course, has top-lined most of the “Underworld” movies as a cool and action-oriented vamp. Of her many memorable roles, Foster will forever be connected with Hannibal Lector thanks to her Oscar-winning performance in “The Silence of the Lambs.” None of them are strangers to the Movie Awards, of course. Biel was nominated for Best Female Performance as Adam Sandler’s love interest in the comedy “I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry” four years ago. Four years before that, in 2004, the former “7th Heaven” star was nominated in the “Breakthrough Female Performance” category for the remake of “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.” Michael Bay’s World War II epic “Pearl Harbor,” co-starring Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett, set the stage for Beckinsale’s first nomination, which was for Best Female Performance in 2002. Two years later, she was up for Best Trans-Atlantic Breakthrough Performer, and in 2006, “Underworld: Evolution” earned her a non-gender-specific nomination for Best Hero. Foster was up for Best Female Performance herself for 1994’s “Nell,” which also earned her an Oscar nomination. Biel and Beckinsale star together in “Total Recall,” the remake of the ’80s sci-fi auctioneer that sees Colin Farrell stepping in for Arnold Schwarzenegger. Foster, who last appeared in the Roman Polanski talkative dramady “Carnage,” has a sci-fi flick of her own on the way. “Elysium” co-stars Matt Damon and was written and directed by Neill Blomkamp (“District 9”). The trio of actresses just announced will join a who’s-who of presenters that includes “The Amazing Spider-Man” stars Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield; Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron from this weekend’s “Snow White and the Huntsman” as well as Michael Fassbender, Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg. Fans will be able to choose all the winners. Voting in all 12 categories is open through Saturday, June 2, over at MovieAwards.MTV.com . It’s up to you to decide who goes onstage to collect their Golden Popcorn on Sunday. “The Hunger Games” and “Bridesmaids” lead the field with eight nominations apiece, with “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” and “21 Jump Street” right behind with six nods each. The MTV Movie Awards will air live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, on Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now! The 21st annual MTV Movie Awards air live Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET. Phillip Phillips vs. Jessica Sanchez: Who Will Win?

We’re down to two on American Idol . The final two. Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez. One is a young white male who is easy on the eyes and plays the guitar. In other words: the same exact pedigree as the last four winners. The other has a beautiful voice and hasn’t been afraid all year long of tacking such major artists as Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. She’s responsible for the single most memorable American Idol performance of the season. Either would be a worthy champion. Only one will wear the crown next Thursday night. Who do you want it to be?

What NBC’s Schedule Shakeups Mean For Your Favorite Shows

Several major shifts indicate that the network, currently at fourth place, is looking to rebuild from scratch. By John Mitchell “The Voice” judges Cee-Lo, Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton Photo: Getty Images Ahead of its upfront presentation on Monday (May 14), NBC has released its 2012-2013 primetime schedule , and it is heavy on shakeups as the struggling network attempts to refocus and make itself “Must-See TV” again. The biggest and strangest move is the shift of comedies “Whitney” and “Community” to Fridays at 8 and 8:30 p.m., respectively. NBC entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, did not beat around the bush when addressing how industry pundits interpreted the move. “I know that most people in our industry think Friday is a graveyard but we don’t really believe that,” Greenblatt said about the move. “If you don’t build it they won’t come.” Dramas and crime procedurals aimed at an older audience (think “Ghost Whisperer” and “Medium”) have historically been the only shows able to maintain an audience on the difficult night, and it’s telling that the network made this same move with another low-rated cult hit comedy, “Chuck,” on its fall schedule last year. Beyond “Community,” there are several major moves on NBC’s lineup that indicate a long-term, full-scale programming overhaul that execs no doubt hope will help the network move out of fourth place and restore the Peacock to its former glory. Below are some of the biggest changes and what they might mean for the future of your favorite shows. “The Voice” returns in the fall to anchor Mondays and Tuesdays “The Voice” has been one of the few true hits NBC has been able to launch in the last several years. Its overall ratings are strong and it is a leader in the 18-49 demographic that advertisers covet. NBC is banking on the show big time next year, airing two cycles (fall and spring) instead of just one, and pairing it with its three most buzzed-about new shows, hoping that its ratings lead-in will spell success across the board. On Mondays, “The Voice” will toss to J.J. Abrams/Eric Kripke’s hotly anticipated thriller “Revolution” and on Tuesdays to comedies “Go On” and “The New Normal.” “Go On” marks Matthew Perry’s return to NBC after several well-liked but low-rated attempts (“Studio 60,” “Mr. Sunshine”) to rekindle his TV stardom and he’s not taking any chances — the show, a single-camera comedy about a struggling sportscaster, was written and created by his former “Friends” showrunner Scott Silveri specifically for him. Like “Revolution” and “Go On,” “The New Normal” comes from the mind of another TV giant, “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy. About a gay couple (Andrew Rannells and “Hangover” star Justin Bartha) and their attempts to start a family with a surrogate (Georgia King), who herself is hoping to give her 8-year-old daughter a new start, “Normal” was considered such a sure thing based on its strong pilot and Murphy’s clout that the show began staffing before NBC had even officially announced its pickup. “Go On” and “Normal” — along with new Wednesday comedies “Animal Practice” and “Guys with Kids” — represent NBC’s push to develop new comedies as it looks to find shows to replace those currently holding down its low-rated, award-winning Thursday lineup. Thursdays stay the same … for now NBC has already announced a shortened, 13-episode final season for “30 Rock,” though it pleased many by announcing it was sticking by “Up All Night” and “Parks and Recreation.” Neither show has ever been an all-out ratings winner, but both have been consistent performers, drawing better ratings on Thursdays than the aging “Rock.” While “The Office” is experiencing series-low numbers, it remains the top scripted comedy on the network (that’s how tough things are for NBC right now), and “Parks and Rec” held on to more of its “Office” lead-in audience than either “Rock” or “Night” did in the 9:30 timeslot, so it’s no surprise NBC is keeping the acclaimed comedies where they are. But with ratings flagging across the board, NBC’s move to keep its Thursday lineup is probably an attempt to appease the very fans they will court for new shows. (“The New Normal” is aimed squarely at the same young adult-to-early-30s audience that got riled when the net didn’t announce an immediate pick-up for “Parks.”) With so many new comedies in the works at NBC, fans of its Thursday shows would be silly to think that — unless they experience a major ratings turnaround next season — this won’t be the last season of both “The Office” and “Parks and Recreation.” “Up All Night” could benefit in the long term if “The New Normal” or any of the family-centric sitcoms the net is launching on Wednesdays take off. NBC execs reportedly like the show, and it is new enough to thrive if paired with the right lead-in. Say farewell to “Community” and “Whitney” When it comes to “Community,” Greenblatt perhaps protests too much. The show enjoys a devoted cult audience, but it simply isn’t large enough to justify keeping the show on the air much longer, and it’s very unlikely the small audience it does have will follow it to Friday nights. That said, as with “Parks and Rec” and “The Office,” the net doesn’t want to alienate the show’s fans, so it will — just as it did with its cult-favorite “Chuck” last year — let the increasingly troubled comedy burn off its remaining episodes and go out with a planned-for conclusion. Need more proof that the show is on its way to the graveyard? Consider its haphazard, ill-fitting lead-in, “Whitney.” The two shows are not only polar opposites on their own, they are aimed at entirely different audiences. (Interestingly, don’t be surprised if “Whitney,” which skews older, does better on Fridays than “Community.”) After both shows inevitably bite the dust, we wouldn’t be surprised if NBC shifted “Law & Order: SVU” to Fridays to let the show, which has seen its own ratings fall dramatically since Christopher Meloni’s departure, either wind down or enjoy a small-scale resurgence. “SVU” is a more logical fit with the net’s current Friday procedural fantasy “Grimm” and the two shows could prop each other up. ‘Catching Fire’ Countdown: What To Watch While You Wait

With the ‘Hunger Games’ sequel more than a year away, here’s where you can catch its stars in the meantime. By Amy Wilkinson Jennifer Lawrence in “The Hunger Games” Photo: Lionsgate November 23, 2013, is just a year and a half away, but it might as well be a lifetime from now considering how antsy we are to feast on ” The Hunger Games ” sequel ” Catching Fire .” Progress is no doubt beginning on the follow-up (director Francis Lawrence was confirmed last week by Lionsgate), but there’s still much to be done before the film is big-screen ready for next, next Thanksgiving. In the meantime, we’ll pass the torturous days and months by gripping our Peeta pillow extra tight and gorging on the stars’ slew of interim offerings—Jennifer Lawrence and her Panem peeps are in-demand actors, after all! Here’s your guide to the actors’ upcoming projects: Jennifer Lawrence If only Lawrence could swipe Katniss’ bow and arrow for use in her horror flick ” The House at the End of the Street ,” out September 21. Lawrence plays a teen who moves next door to a home where a grisly murder took place. She befriends the surviving son and, well, things don’t go so well for her after that. Two months later, Lawrence will appear alongside Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro in the big-screen adaptation of Matthew Quick’s novel ” The Silver Linings Playbook .” She reportedly plays a widow trying to seduce Cooper’s character, who has recently been released from a mental institution. The Cooper coupling will continue with the period drama ” Serena ” (a role originally intended for Angelina Jolie), after the thriller ” Devil You Know ” makes its debut. Josh Hutcherson After bonding with Liam on the set of “The Hunger Games,” Hutcherson will star alongside the other Hemsworth brother in the November 21 release “Red Dawn,” which finds a group of teenagers trying to protect their town from invading North Korean soldiers. The baker’s son has a couple of other projects in the pipeline (neither of which have official release dates), but keep an eye out for “7 Days in Havana” and “The Forger.” Liam Hemsworth The younger Hemsworth will flex his action muscles throughout the rest of 2012 and into the new year. First up is ” AWOL ” (scheduled for release sometime this year), which follows a Vietnam soldier who defects to win back the love of his life. The film co-stars Teresa Palmer, Aimee Teegarden and Chris Lowell. If that doesn’t sound harrowing enough, Hemsworth will team up with every action star ever (read: Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris) for the splashy sequel “The Expendables 2,” out August 17. His list of in-the-works flicks also includes “Paranoia,” “Timeless” and “Arabian Nights.” Elizabeth Banks Fans won’t have to wait long to see Elizabeth Banks grace the silver screen once again. The bubbly blond dons a pregnancy belly for next week’s ” What to Expect When You’re Expecting ,” based on the iconic self-help book. (That woman loves her some adaptations, huh?) Shortly after (June 29, to be exact), Banks will portray long-lost sister to Chris Pine, who must find his secret sibling to deliver a $150,000 inheritance in the film ” People Like Us .” Woody Harrelson The word “eclectic” comes to mind when summing up Woody Harrelson’s CV — and it’s not an ill-advised adjective to describe his list of upcoming projects either. ” Seven Psychopaths ,” out in limited release November 2, follows a struggling screenwriter who gets caught up in the criminal underworld after his weird friend kidnaps a mobster’s dog. Then there’s 2013’s ” Now You See Me ,” in which a group of illusionists pull heists as part of their act and give the spoils to their audiences. (Uh, do you guys need extras?) The January release co-stars Mark Ruffalo, Dave Franco and Morgan Freeman. Which of “The Hunger Games” stars’ other upcoming projects are you excited about? John Travolta Denies Masseuse’s Sexual Assault Claims

‘This lawsuit is a complete fiction and fabrication,’ a rep for Travolta tells People. By Kara Warner John Travolta Photo: Jesse Grant/ WireImage An anonymous plaintiff has filed a $2 million lawsuit against John Travolta, alleging that the “Old Dogs” star assaulted and sexually harassed him after he was hired to massage the actor. Unsurprisingly, a rep for Travolta has shot down the allegations via a statement issued to People magazine , in which the rep strongly denied all claims made by the anonymous man, known only as John Doe via his court filing. “This lawsuit is a complete fiction and fabrication,” Travolta’s rep said. “None of the events claimed in the suit ever occurred. The plaintiff, who refuses to give their name, knows that the suit is a baseless lie. It is for that reason that the plaintiff hasn’t been identified with a name even though it is required to do so. “On the date when plaintiff claims John met him, John was not in California and it can be proved that he was on the East Coast,” the statement continued. “[The] plaintiff’s attorney has filed this suit to try and get his 15 minutes of fame. John intends to get this case thrown out and then he will sue the attorney and plaintiff for malicious prosecution.” The plaintiff’s lengthy 14-page suit, which was filed Friday in California’s U.S. District Court, charges 58-year-old Travolta with assault, sexual battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that among other salacious activities, Travolta exposed himself and groped the masseur despite protests during a massage performed in Los Angeles in January 2011.

Johnny Depp, Tim Burton Joke About ‘Beetlejuice’ Sequel

‘You’ll be playing Jeffrey Jones,’ director jokingly tells Depp, referring to actor in original flick. By Kara Warner Johnny Depp Photo: Pascal Le Segretain/ Getty Images We’re fully aware of the fact that Tim Burton and Johnny Depp have very full schedules at the moment, given all their various projects like “Dark Shadows,” Burton’s “Frankenweenie,” Depp’s “The Lone Ranger,” another “Pirates of the Carribean” movie, etc. But can we get Burton to free up his schedule sometime soon in order to film a “Beetlejuice” sequel already? Because Burton has already expressed interest in exploring another “Beetlejuice” film with star Michael Keaton and “Shadows” screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith, when MTV News caught up with the busy director and frequent collaborator Depp recently, we threw in a question about what chance there might be in seeing Depp in the film, if it ever happens. “Ugh,” Burton replied, playfully scoffing at the question. “Yeah, Tim,” Depp reacted, adding emphasis for his friend to answer the question. “This is my last movie,” Burton continued as both of them chuckled at the idea. “You’ll be playing Jeffrey Jones,” he said to Depp, which sent the actor into further giggles. “Yeah,” Depp laughed. “I can play Jeffrey, I think.” “We can make it work,” Burton said. Now, whether Burton meant that Depp should play the character that actor Jeffrey Jones originated in “Beetlejuice” or that he should actually play Jeffrey Jones, that’s up for interpretation. On a more serious note, writer Grahame-Smith is definitely planning on delivering a script to Burton this year. “I am hopefully going to write it this year,” Grahame-Smith told MTV News recently . “I’ve gone and met with Tim Burton about it, I’ve gone and met with Michael Keaton about it. In theory everybody would be open to it if the script is good, so now it’s just my job to make sure the script is good.” Additionally, Grahame-Smith is also in favor of including a role for Depp. “I may not be able to avoid it — [Burton] may make me do it,” he said of Depp getting involved. ‘The Expendables 2’ Trailer: Five Key Scenes

Sylvester Stallone and his team return to fight an unexpected threat in this action-packed trailer. By Fallon Prinzivalli Sylvester Stallone in “The Expendables 2” Photo: Lionsgate After teasing the film with exclusive posters and movie stills , the first full-length trailer for “The Expendables 2” finally dropped Thursday (May 3). IGN premiered the preview to the action-packed film with an intro from Sylvester Stallone himself. “If you thought the first movie kicked some serious ass,” Sly says, “you haven’t seen anything yet.” With an A-List cast including Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Jet Li, Terry Crews, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jean-Claude Van Damme and newcomers Liam Hemsworth and Chuck Norris, we don’t doubt the “Rocky” actor’s words. The film follows the return of Barney Ross (Stallone) and his team as Mr. Church (Willis) enlists the Expendables for a job that seems like easy money. When one of their crew is murdered, however, the revenge they seek leaves them stranded in enemy territory having to combat an unexpected threat. Check out the five key scenes from the action-packed trailer: Swinging Into Action The trailer opens with sirens blaring and the crew propelling down a zip-line into the middle of a forest. As you’d expect, the firing begins immediately as sparks start flying and a truck flips over — and we’re only 30 seconds in. Just when you think Barney Ross and his team are the ones doing the ass-kicking, they’re surrounded by the enemy. Lee Christmas (Statham) looks over Barney and asks, “That loaded?” Barney replies, “I hope so,” and begins taking their captors down one by one with a hidden gun in his hand — or did he? The shot then cuts to newcomer Bill “The Kid” Timmons (Hemsworth), who is hiding in the trees with a smoking gun. Time to Reload The team loads their weapons as Barney tells the Kid, “Somebody’s hooked.” Protecting the world by taking out the bad guys with some heavy artillery — who wouldn’t be? The next scene shows Lee in priest robes saying, “I now pronounce you man and knife,” and cuts away before we catch a glimpse of who he inevitably stabs. The next clips show various members of the team speeding off on motorcycles, engaging in hand to hand combat, taking down helicopters and setting off explosion after explosion. The Threat Our villain comes in the form of Jean-Claude Van Damme (aptly named Jean Vilain) who’s planning on using a very powerful chemical to change the balance of the world. World dominance, that’s what every bad guy is after, right? As we see his team gathering, the tagline flashes across the screen, “When the threat is this great, everyone is expendable.” If everyone’s expendable, Barney is going to need a lot more men to get through this one. Cue Chuck Norris and Arnold Schwarzenegger Like clockwork the invincible Chuck Norris (Booker) approaches the camera walking away from cars engulfed in flames and smoke. (Cool guys don’t look at explosions, remember?) Next is Arnold Schwarzenegger’s (Trench) turn to get in a version of his classic tagline: “I’m back.” As he says it, he leans out of a window wearing a band of bullets around his chest and casually smoking a cigar. Killing a few bad guys? Been there, done that. The Plan When Lee asks the plan of attack to stop the enemy, Barney says, “Track ’em, find ’em, kill ’em.” And you guessed it, more explosions, more knife fights, and bullets, bullets, bullets. If you’re looking for an action film, you will not be disappointed. One clip that stood out was Church pulling up in a tiny car and telling Trench to get in. He rips the door off the automobile as he climbs in and says, “My shoe is bigger than this car.” It hints at the inevitable comedy involved in a film with an all-star cast. In the final sequence, Barney drives a plane into a tunnel and Lee says, “You’re going to need a new plane.” The two laugh as the screen fades to black. “The Expendables 2” will explode into theaters August 17.
