Say Ye , say Ye, don’t you do this everyday eh? Via Page Six reports : Kanye West is driving Island Def Jam executives “crazy” with last-minute changes, a new producer and legal issues over his new album, “Yeezus.” Sources exclusively tell us that last week — just two weeks before the album drops — West brought in legendary producer Rick Rubin to help lay down additional tracks for the record, and Def Jam execs spent the week haggling over rights for a vocal he used on his song “Onsite.” “Even by Kanye West standards, this is pushing it,” said a music industry source. Page Six reported last week that after months spent in Paris recording, West was still working in the studio after early releases got mixed reviews. We hear that Rubin, the co-founder of Def Jam Records, was brought in to help West finish the album. Rubin will be listed as executive producer, sources said. Def Jam executives haggled over rights to West’s racy song “Onsite,” where the rapper samples an old vocal track from kids in a Chicago church choir. We hear lawyers last week had to track down the choir director and members of the Holy Name of Mary Church choir on the South Side of Chicago to get clearance for the vocals. Def Jam label chiefs were so worried about whether they would get rights to the track, producers re-recorded the vocals with a different choir to be used in case they couldn’t nail down an agreement with the Holy Name crew in time. By the end of the day Friday, we’re told, West decided to use the new recording with the other choir just to be safe. West headlined the Governors Ball Music Festival on Randalls Island yesterday. His rep didn’t get back to us. When we called the Chicago Holy Name church, a receptionist told us the choir director would call us back — but no one did. West celebrated his birthday on Saturday night at Miss Lily’s in Greenwich Village with Jay-Z, Beyoncé and Nas. Kim Kardashian was not able to attend because she can no longer fly ahead of her due date next month. Hit the flip for videos and highlights from Yeezy’s Sunday show at the Governor’s Ball Festival including his latest rant where he says he doesn’t care about being on the radio anymore he just wants to make an album that the people can rock out to all Summer long…
Columnist Says Black Churches Criticize Black Men Too Much Is the African-American community contributing largely to the increasingly negative perception that society has of black men? Marcia Dixon of The Voice Online says yes……and she also says it needs to stop. via The Voice Online We live in a society where it seems to be OK to poke fun at and publicly deride men. Whether it’s because they are unfaithful in their relationships, commit domestic violence, don’t look after their children, aren’t able to multi-task, aren’t emotional, are aggressive, OR more prone to commit acts of crime. The list could go on. But surely the criticisms levelled at men, even within the church, is only half the story. Shouldn’t we stop and think about the impact all this negativity is having on the young boys in our midst? Not all men are badly behaved. Too many of the discussions we have in the black community about gender issues focus on the inadequacy of men. Isn’t it time for the negative rhetoric to stop and look at new ways to move forward – together? Marcia goes on to point out that there are both positive and negative examples of black men in the African-American community, those that aren’t handling their responsibilities tend to get much of the focus, which sets a poor example for young black men to follow. She also alludes to the fact that those who are doing what they are supposed to often go unnoticed by the very institution that should be uplifting them: the church. Some of our communities have imploded on themselves and become no-go areas when men have absconded on their duties. Women are left to fend for themselves and their children. Communities where men are absent become breeding grounds for gang leaders and criminals to train up the next generation in negative behaviour. And many young men themselves are bemoaning the absence of their father, or a father figure in their life, with some attributing the lack of a strong male presence in their life as the reason why they descended into crime and anti-social behaviour. Seeing as churches are perceived as the key institutions within the black community, they should be at the forefront (which some are) of bigging up men, and using the platform they have to promote the many good men that we have in our community. Not every man is absconding on his marital and parental duties. The black community is filled with lots of men who have integrity, are responsible, successful in their careers and utilising their talents in a God-honouring way. Plus there are the guys, who were, as described by the Bible, ‘on the path that leads to destruction’, but with either the help of God, the church, role models or their own personal discipline, have turned their lives around and are now exemplary role models. These are the guys are community needs to be focus on. So, what say you Bossip fam? Are we as black people getting in our own way when it comes to the downfall of our men? Or is the rest of society just as much to blame for the increasingly negative depiction of black men?
Women fired for being pregnant in 2013? Woman Fired For Being Pregnant According to WTVD-TV A preschool worker from Cumberland County said she was fired from the New Life Baptist Daycare and Preschool in Fayetteville because she’s single and pregnant. Venita Short said she was recently fired after she told the staff she was pregnant. Short, who is not married, was shocked when a church administrator questioned her about her pregnancy. “I told her the same thing. I plan to get married one day, but not because I’m pregnant,” said Short. After telling the administrator that she wasn’t going to get married before she had the baby, Short said the administrator told her that the daycare committee would have to determine if she could work at the facility or not. Short said she worked at the church for about a year-and-a-half with good reviews and at least three pay raises. Short said the unwed pregnancy is her personal business and should have nothing to do with her job. Ironically, before she got fired, Short took care of several children of single parents at the church. That’s why she can’t understand the church’s reason for letting her go. “They told me I was fired because I am pregnant and I am not married,” said Short. Pastor Ed Wilson did not return calls made by ABC11. Short said she’s planning to get an attorney and take the issue to court. Some church folk can be so cruel. Continue reading →
Poor Pope Francis …. According to The Raw Story: Friday night on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher,” host Bill Maher said the he thinks newly-appointed Pope Francis and some other Catholic Church leaders may be secret atheists. Maher and a panel made up of Center for American Progress’ President Neera Tanden, actress Brit Marling, “HuffPost Live” producer James Poulos and playwright Paul Rudnick discussed the decline in religious belief around the world and the strange view some Christians have of God and God’s will. Maher began by pointing out that when people want to ask if something is self-evident or obvious, they say, “Is the Pope Catholic?” “Well,” said Maher, “I think he might not be.” Last week Pope Francis called upon believers to be accepting and tolerant of atheists and to acknowledge that people who do not identify as people of faith are still able to do good in the world. “The Lord has redeemed all of us, all of us, with the Blood of Christ: all of us, not just Catholics. Everyone! ‘Father, the atheists?’ Even the atheists. Everyone!” said Francis on Vatican Radio. “I remember when I was making Religulous,” Maher said, “we talked to a lot of priests, and we found out that a lot of priests really aren’t believers.” He went on to say that many of the nominally faithful clergy keep doing what they were doing because they want to help people and the church can be a means of accomplishing that. “They know they can’t tell the masses that it’s all a crock, but they themselves don’t believe it,” he said. Tanden said that, “as a progressive,” she favors the new Pope because of his outspoken stance against austerity programs in Europe. “He’s criticized driving all these people into unemployment,” she said, “and all the cuts that people are really suffering from. He’s made arguments about corporate profits versus poverty, that we should care more about how people are suffering and care less about how banks are doing.” “They’re going to poison him,” opined Maher. These days you got to stay prayed up and strapped down! Church Gives Free Handgun Lessons According to WFAA Texas lawmakers passed several bills involving concealed handgun licenses on Saturday, including one that would reduce the number of hours required to get one, and another tweaking the rules for renewal. In North Texas, we’ve seen crowds packing free handgun license classes, including one on Saturday in an unexpected place — First Baptist Church Wylie. The congregation on this day was led not by a preacher, but a teacher giving a free concealed handgun class. “I have been thinking about doing it for a long time, but because it was free, there was no reason not to do it,” said Andrew Penrose. The sanctuary offered the no-charge CHL course to anyone meeting state eligibility requirements. “We’re doing it to bless the community,” explained Scott Phillips, who serves as children’s pastor at the church. There was no shortage of takers for the one-day course. “There’s a lot of crazy stuff going on in the world,” said one man. “School shootings and movie theater shootings… you just never know what is going to happen,” Beth Owen said. “I want to be able to protect myself and protect my friends and family,” added Richard Davis. Those who came to the church for this special teaching did so for different reasons. “I am taking this class because I believe in my Second Amendment rights,” Chris Alosi said. They share a common belief that they are better off with a handgun… and the knowledge of how to effectively use it. Organizers estimate the free class saved participants between a $100-$140 each. What type of world do we live in where the church offers free handgun lessons and people line up around the block?
Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan and Eric Church each picked up four nominations on Monday for the 2013 CMT Awards, to be held June 5 in Nashville. Fellow country veterans Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney and Rascal Flatts, as well as first-time nominees Florida Georgia Line, earned three nods each. Carrie Underwood, the frontrunner at last year’s CMT Awards nominations with an impressive five (and won video of the year), has two nods this year. She is joined by Taylor Swift , Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw, Hunter Hayes, Jana Kramer, Kacey Musgraves, Little Big Town and the rock group Journey. Lambert’s “Mama’s Broken Heart” is up for video of the year and female video of the year. She’s also up for group video and CMT performance of the year. Bryan and Church, will square off in the same four categories: video of the year, male video, collaborative video and CMT performance of the year. It will be a busy night for the newly-single Jason Aldean , who, along with his three nominations, is co-hosting the show with actress Kristen Bell. Along with Aldean, Lambert has also made celebrity gossip headlines of late, thanks to the (alleged) rough patch she and Blake Shelton have hit. In any case, it’s all about the music on this occasion. Congrats to the CMT Awards nominees of 2013!
Young black men are still dying suspicious deaths in the South. Via ABC Local News The family of a Lowndes High School student who died at school tonight is demanding a federal investigation. Today, investigators officially ruled 17-year old Kendrick Johnson’s death an accident. That announcement came just an hour before friends, family and civil rights activists marched outside Lowndes High School demanding justice. The family believes Johnson was murdered. His body was found inside a rolled-up cheerleading mat in the old Lowndes High School gym January 11th. Investigators believe he was in the gym alone, reached into the mat to get something he dropped, and got stuck. Today’s final autopsy report ruled the death an accident as a result of positional asphyxia. “I’m frustrated that my nephew was supposedly found in a mat, when that doesn’t make sense,” said Johnson’s Aunt, Stacy Roe. Civil Rights activists with Reverend Al Sharpton’s National Action Network and The United Justice League led the rally, calling for a federal investigation. “We want an independent investigation, lets just say by an agency with higher credentials than Lowndes County. There’s been a number of what we feel are inconsistencies, are mishandlings, and for that very reason is why we want another set of eyes,” said Atlanta’s National Action Network Chapter President, Marcus Coleman. The family says they expected the autopsy report would rule the death as an accident. And they plan to keep rallying until federal investigators step in. “When you have the body that’s been moved, when you have the Coroner’s Office being notified hours later, when you have the misplacement of his clothing, which could be a direct indicator of any evidence needed to move forward,” said Coleman. Lowndes County Sheriff’s officials say the statements of his body being moved and his clothes being misplaced are untrue. But Coroner Bill Waston has voiced his anger that he wasn’t notified until hours after Johnson’s body was discovered. The Sheriff’s office says the investigation still remains open. The Johnson Family organized another rally Saturday at Serenity Christian Church in Valdosta at 5:00 p.m. Reverend Al Sharpton is scheduled to speak Hit the flip for the photo that has people very suspicious over the true cause of Johnson’s death. Be forewarned… It is very graphic.

This chick sounds like she’ll be starring in an episode of ‘Snapped’ any day now…. Woman Hangs Boyfriends Dog Because “He Was Sick” An Iowa woman was arrested over the weekend after she reportedly confessed to killing her boyfriend’s put bulls by hanging the dog in the garage. via Fox News An Iowa woman hanged one of her boyfriend’s three dogs in the garage, and told police that she killed the dog because it was old and sick. The Des Moines Register reports 28-year-old Sheena Cornwell was arrested Saturday evening after her boyfriend came home to discover the dog hanging by its collar and leash from the rafter in the garage. The paper reported that Joshua VanDyke, her boyfriend, said Cornwell would complain about the 15-year-old dog with medical issues but there was never any abuse. “She wanted to get rid of her, but she never said anything about doing something violent to her,” he said, according to the paper. The Register reported that Cornwell heard the dog barking, and she asked if the dog barking was Lilly, the older dog. She reportedly entered the garage and emerged 10 minutes later and allegedly told VanDyke, “She’s dead, I killed her.” This was cruel. This bish needs to be sent straight to the looney bin when she gets out of jail. Shutterstock
