The generation of smokeless, flavored tobacco products that look like breath mints or breath-freshening strips can be a danger for kids who will mistake them for friendly candies, this was according to a research in Harvard School of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Nicotine is an alkaloid poison that occurs in tobacco; used in medicine and as an insecticide. Nicotine is a poison, and now there are smokeless tobacco products that look like M & M’s or any candy products, which can be left on the table free for the children to grab and maybe put inside the mouth. A research team was lead to find out that the smokeless tobacco products are the second most common cause of poisoning from nicotine in children, directly after the cigarettes. The research shows data from 61 poison control centers and there are other 13,705 cases of tobacco consumption between 2006 and 2008, the vast majority of which in infants. Smokeless tobacco was involved in 1,768 of the cases. The products that has been produced are currently being test-marketed in three cities – Camel Orbs, which appears as breath minths, Camel Sticks which is the same size of a toothpick and can be dissolve in the mouth, and Camel Strips, which are commonly mistaken as breath-freshening strips. These items are very likable to the eye, specially for kids. But take it as a precaution that these products may be a harm for our health.
