On June 4, Bravo will debut a new season of The Real Housewives of New York , replete with new cast members and new scripted drama! That’s right, Jill Zarin, Alex McCord, Cindy Barshop and Kelly Bensimon are out; Carole Radziwill , Heather Thomson and Aviva Drescher are in. But, don’t worry fans, the new ladies are just as irritating and clueless as the old ones, as evidenced by one asking in the following sneak preview: “Do you think we’re part of the one percent?” Other lowlights include: Countess LuAnn calling out Ramona for blackmailing her; the gang getting trashed in the tropics; and Aviva referring to Ramona and Sonja “white trash.” Yup. She fits right in… The Real Housewives of New York Season 5 Trailer
He’s sexy. He’s a Cuban soap star. He’s got the moves. And he’s shirtless. With all those things going for him, it’s a miracle anyone on Dancing With the Stars even shows up to compete against William Levy. But Green Bay Packers star Donald Driver isn’t about to hand over the Mirror Ball trophy just yet. In fact, he might give William a run for his money in an “ab-off.” William Levy’s sexy, abs-baring salsa routine with partner Cheryl Burke on Monday’s DWTS episode was a sign that the showdown is on, Driver says. “William knows the ladies love us, but they love him a little bit more because he took his clothes off,” Driver told People . “I haven’t taken my clothes off yet.” I’m going to pace myself and talk to the wife; if the wife agrees then I’ll take it off.” Disney star Roshon Fegan, 20, agrees, saying Levy’s display “makes it personal … I’ve got my eye on William and whatever his secrets are – working out in the gym, super-duper protein shakes – I’m gonna get me some muscles.” A worthy goal, but for now, it’s Donald vs. William in this hunk-a-thon. Which DWTS star do you think is … well, hunkier? Cast your vote below!
A month after Kony 2012, the documentary about the crimes of indicted Ugandan warlord Joseph Kony, took the Internet by storm, a sequel has arrived. A sequel that’s more of a follow-up to capitalize on the success of the original, which drew more than 100 million views on YouTube, but a sequel just the same. The non-profit Invisible Children released a new film, Kony 2012: Part II – Beyond Famous, today. You can watch the 20-minute expose in its entirety here: KONY 2012: Part II – Beyond Famous Kony 2012 drew attention to the reign of terror by Joseph Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army and examined strategies activists take to stop the guerilla leader. Accused of kidnapping children and turning them into soldiers, among other war crimes, the Ugandan national has become persona non grata … everywhere. Missing from the sequel is Jason Russell, the Invisible Children co-founder who directed the first installment and ended up arrested and hospitalized after an unbelievable meltdown earlier this month near his home in San Diego. As he recovers, Invisible Children seeks to silence critics that the group practices “slacktivism,” i.e. oversimplifying issues and having the adverse effect of elevating Kony’s celebrity instead of tackling the complexities of the subject. “One month later, we are releasing this film to explain the creation of the campaign, the progress that’s already been made and what we can all do now to put a stop to the violence of the LRA,” says narrator Ben Keesey in the new film. This time around, the film expounds on things that went unmentioned in Kony 2012, like the fact that Kony and his army had abandoned northern Uganda in 2006 and that the conditions in the region have vastly improved. The African outlaw remains a threat to neighboring countries, however. They also aim to provide viewers with ways to make a difference, including contacting U.S. policymakers and calling on them to increase funding to help end the conflict in central Africa and capture Joseph Kony himself.
In the hours following the release of the full Whitney Houston autopsy – which details a drug-laden hotel room and the state of the singer’s dead body, lying face down in a bathtub, blood pooling off her nose – many fans of the singer are reacting with disgust and sadness. But that’s nothing compared to the state of Whitney’s mother, Cissy. Insiders tell TMZ that Cissy Houston is “devastated” and “inconsolable” over these findings, crying uncontrollably after reading the evidence that her daughter suffered from a deep-seeded cocaine problem. “No one’s perfect. Only the Lord can judge,” Cissy has reportedly said in response to the sad truth, with her biggest fear being folks will now remember Whitney as a drug addict and not as one of the all-time great singers. Cissy simply hopes the public considers Houston’s iconic National Anthem at the 1991 Super Bowl before they think of the troubles that followed.
In her first interview since Whitney Houston’s death, mother Cissy Houston told My9 TV that she did the best she could raising her daughter and she doesn’t blame herself for Whitney’s untimely death. The interview took place at New Hope …
Most people would be shocked to learn that Lauren Conrad of Laguna Beach and The Hills fame is a New York Times best-selling author, several times over. Lauren Conrad is one of those people. “We were doing the inside cover of the beauty book I’m working on, and under ‘also by’ it listed all my other books. I was like, ‘When did this happen?’” Three years after she made her writing debut with the L.A. Candy series, she’s back on shelves with the first book in a new trilogy, The Fame Game . In stores tomorrow, it follows Heidi Montag -like character Madison Parker, another Audrina Patridge-like character, and two other Hollywood hopefuls. As they star in a new spin-off series and adjust to life as reality TV stars, obvi. There’s a soap opera’s-worth of drama, a fake-it-for-the-cameras relationship, and a whole lot of mascara-tears. How much of it did she pull from real life? Quite a bit. The entertainment value in Conrad’s page-turners is about separating the moments based on LC’s behind-the-scene anecdotes from fiction. “The most fun for me is being able to tell all the little tricks that people do in the media,” Conrad told EW. “Mostly, the shameless ones in terms of calling their own photographers, leaking their own stories, the little things.” “The thing people don’t really know but everyone in the industry knows.” The characters in this novel are pretty shameless so it’s no wonder even the 26-year-old’s own editor struggled with playing the fact or fiction game. “My editor would always go, ‘I don’t know if this seem realistic. Is this something that could actually happen?’ I’dsay, ‘it did happen. That’s a real story.’” Conrad’s tale doesn’t require any deep thinking, but it also doesn’t really aspire to. You’re just going along with Madison and the other girls for the ride. “One of my biggest goals, especially with writing YA novels, is just to have people enjoy reading,” she said. “I remember being in high school and it was so forced because everything I read through most of school was assigned reading. “I love the idea of giving girls a book that they can read and enjoy reading.” [Photo: WENN.com]
Whitney Houston passed away in February, but fans will still get a chance to watch her on the big screen in August. That’s because the singer had just finished filming Sparkle when she died, a remake of a 1976 movie in which she plays the matriarch of a musical family. In various interviews since Houston left us, Jordin Sparks – who makes her Hollywood debut as Houston’s daughter – said “it was amazing to walk into work and then Whitney is sitting in her chair blasting gospel music and singing,” while producer Howard Rosenman added that the legend “is unbelievably brilliant in [the film].” The Today Show gave us our first look at Sparkle this morning. Watch now: Sparkle Trailer Cissy Houston, meanwhile, recently spoke out on her daughter’s death and said she did everything she could have done to point Houston in the right direction .
For the first time since the death of her daughter, Cissy Houston has spoken out. In an interview that will air Monday on New Jersey’s My9’s 10 O’Clock News, Cissy Houston says she still has her “moments” of mourning since Whitney passed away in February. “I’m not there yet. I don’t think I’m any more courageous than anyone else. I am a true believer in God, if I could bring her back I would, but that’s not possible.” News broke yesterday that cocaine was found in Whitney’s hotel room, following coroner confirmation that the singer died with that drug in her system. The artist’s substance abuse problems have been well documented, of course, but Cissy says she can’t hold herself responsible for these issues, not after so many years of attempting to intervene. “I know I did the best I could,” she says. “I don’t blame myself. I know I did the best I could for everything.” While avoiding any public statements until now, Cissy has reportedly been critical of her former son-in-law , Bobby Brown, and has been looking over her granddaughter, Bobbi Kristina. She’s now the most direct link Cissy has to Whitney. “I’m very proud of my daughter,” she says in the interview. “She accomplished a whole lot in the short time that she had here… she was a very wonderful person.”
The Chicago Suntimes is reporting that Whitney Houston’s mother Cissy has confronted the person who snapped the photo of Whitney in her final resting place. A Houston family insider says that Cissy, “had a come-to-Jesus moment” with the guilty culprit and demanded the alleged six-figure fee for the photo be donated to charity. As she should! Whoever was selfishly evil enough to take a photo of the late Whitney Houston with the intention of selling it to trashy tabloid deserves far more punishment than having to donate their profit. What do you think about Cissy confronting the person that took the photo? Who do you think took it? Whitney Houston’s mom Cissy Houston is making sure she gets rid of all the bad influences from her granddaughter Bobbi Kristina’s life, and the first person on the list is a 22-year-old man who Whitney treated like her very own son. Nick Gordon was taken in by Whitney as a troubled youngster when she was living in Atlanta, and though he was never formerly adopted, she considered Nick her son and he even called her “mom.” According to TMZ : Cissy believes Nick is a bad influence on her granddaughter and wants him OUT of the Houston family home in Atlanta ASAP, and has already informed her lawyers about the eviction in case he puts up a fight. Nick has allegedly been helping Bobbi deal with the loss of her mom, and we hope this latest incident doesn’t push Bobbi Kristina over the edge. Should Cissy have thrown Nick out?
