It’s real in the field, kids. But let’s not get carried away. According to Fox Sports, two Georgia men were shot– one critically injured– following an argument at an Applebee’s in Duluth, Georgia yesterday afternoon during the San Francisco 49ers-New Orleans Saints game. The two men were reportedly cheering for the 49ers inside the establishment, and another local man took exception to this, firing at the two men in the establishment’s parking lot. Donald Ray Ayro, 31, was being held without bond according to local police reports. Chris Middleton, 30, is in critical condition at Gwinnett Medical Center and Corey Adams, 30, was shot but is in stable condition. We understand that it was a heartbreaking loss for the Saints but it’s probably not worth it to draw guns over the whole thing. Calm down, kids. More On Bossip! (John Hinderaker) Has any city ever experienced a sports drought as bad as the one the Twin Cities are now living through? I haven’t seriously tried to figure out the answer to that question, and no doubt our readers in Cleveland and possibly Philadelphia (not recently, of course) might contest the title. Still, it is hard to beat a town where the most exciting sports franchise hadn’t won a game (until… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Power Line Discovery Date : 02/01/2012 06:28 Number of articles : 2
Something smells a little fishy… They may not be making as many headlines anymore, but the movement started by “Occupy Wall Street” is still going strong. These cats are even talking about creating an Occupier Exchange program where protesters in other cities could come to New York for a week to take part in the original movement. Who’s paying for all of this? A gang of celebrities who are very much a part of the 1%. The top 25 richest celebrities supporting Occupy Wall Street, according to the website Celebrity Net Worth, possess a combined net worth just over $4 billion. While JP Morgan and Chase banker Jamie Dimon (worth $200 million) was one of the targets of the ”millionaires march,” he has a net worth less than five of the celebrities supporting OWS. That’s not surprising. Many of the celebrities supporting Occupy Wall Street seem to be oblivious to the amount of wealth they possess. Comedienne Roseanne Barr, (worth $80 million), was quoted quite literally calling for the heads of wealthy, declaring: ”I do say that I am in favor of the return of the guillotine and that is for the worst of the worst of the guilty. I first would allow the guilty bankers to pay, you know, the ability to pay back anything over $100 million [of] personal wealth because I believe in a maximum wage of $100 million. And if they are unable to live on that amount of that amount then they should, you know, go to the re-education camps and if that doesn’t help, then being beheaded.” Barr inadvertently called for the heads of 13 celebrities supporting the Occupy Wall Street who make more than $100 million from singer Miley Cyrus to writer Stephen King. Sometime singer Yoko Ono (#1 on the list, at $500 million) is a descendant of a prominent Japanese banking family. Her late husband John Lennon wrote ‘Imagine’ in a Park Avenue penthouse. She threw in her support for the movement, saying ‘John is sending his smile to Occupy Wall Street.’ Former actress and fitness guru Jane Fonda (worth $120 million), who famously supported communism during the Vietnam War, attacked the wealthy when she threw her support to the Occupiers. ”Any country that has a very, very small narrow layer, of very rich powerful privileged people and no middle class and the rest are just really struggling and some of them not making it, is a country that’s not going to be stable.” Ranked No. 14 was former Vice President Al Gore (worth $100 million), who is better known for his climate change activism and his patronage of private jets. He has also supported Occupy Wall Street, calling it a ”true grassroots movement pointing out the flaws in our system.” Even those on the list who didn’t make the $100 million mark, still have extensive wealth. Liberal actor Alec Baldwin (worth $65 million), a spokesman for Capital One Bank, inveighed against ”the bailouts the US government gives major corporations every day’ and ‘the excessive fees forced on customers by certain banks” on the Huffington Post. Some celebrities supporting the Occupy movement do not seem to have a firm grasp of what the movement is about. Rapper Jay-Z (worth $450 million) got in trouble for trying to sell T-shirts to Occupiers without ”sharing” the proceeds. Rapper Kanye West, worth $70 million, showed up to the Occupy Wall Street Movement wearing gold chains. The attempts of these celebrities to rationalize their own wealth while protesting the wealth of others is astonishing. So is this a case of the rich spreading their wealth to a good cause? Or are the “Occupiers” being hypocrites to keep their movement going? Source
‘VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul’ featured performances by Kelly Clarkson, Florence Welch, Jessie J and many others. By Jocelyn Vena Jennifer Hudson,Kelly Clarkson and Mary J Blige perform onstage during VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul Photo: Larry Busacca/ Getty Images NEW YORK — Glittering clothes , big voices and sassy songs about love, loss and everything in between ruled the night during “VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul.” The concert was filled with booty-shaking, sing-along performances from Kelly Clarkson, Mary J. Blige, Florence and the Machine , Jennifer Hudson, Jill Scott, Jessie J and others, who rocked the Hammerstein Ballroom for the show, which aired Monday night (December 19) on VH1. With an assist from the night’s house band the Roots, it all kicked off with Hudson, Clarkson and Blige channeling the Supremes for “You Keep Me Hangin’ On,” before launching into a medley of their own tracks, “Spotlight,” “Real Love” and “Since U Been Gone.” The performance set the tone for the night, which not only paid homage to the women in the room, both legendary and up-and-coming, but also the cities that birthed some of the most soulful songs in music history, including Chicago, London, Detroit, Philadelphia and Memphis, Tennessee. Through the night, divas from all walks of life, including Erykah Badu, Estelle, Mavis Staples, Chaka Khan, Martha Reeves, Marsha Ambrosius and Ledisi, as well as a few divos (Boyz II Men and Travie McCoy), sang some of the biggest hits from soul music’s lush history. The set list included a sampling of tracks like “Nowhere to Run” by Martha and the Vandellas, “Walking on Broken Glass” by Annie Lennox, “I’ll Take You There” by the Staple Singers and “Ain’t Nobody” by Khan herself. When the cities themselves weren’t being honored, the divas were, with solo performances that demonstrated the ladies’ killer vocal prowess. Florence Welch, Clarkson, Sharon Jones, Jessie J, Scott, Hudson and Blige each took the stage to give some shine to their own tracks and pop styles, proving that soul music is a genre that is still alive and well. The Amy Winehouse tribute was the culmination of the night. Although “VH1 Divas” was all about the living performers who belted out songs at the concert, the presence of one diva gone too soon was certainly felt. Instead of focusing on the loss suffered when the British songstress died over the summer, the show focused on a celebration of her music. “What’s up New York?” the tribute’s MC, Nas, asked the room. “When the legendary Amy Winehouse sang about me in her song ‘Me and Mr. Jones,’ I was so honored. Amy Winehouse was my true soul sister.” The two worked together on her Lioness: Hidden Treasures track, “Like Smoke.” “I’m here to honor a woman who had enough soul to last a lifetime,” he added. The presence of his “home girl” was felt in the room thanks to her game-changing music as reimagined by Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings (the latter of whom worked with her on her Back to Black album), Florence Welch and Wanda Jackson. The medley included her soul-killing breakup track “Back to Black” and her sassy anthem “You Know I’m No Good.” Related Artists Amy Winehouse Kelly Clarkson Jennifer Hudson Florence + the Machine Mary J. Joe Frazier’s death earlier this week has helped revive talk of his longtime rivalry with Muhammad Ali, who is expected to be at the homegoing for his three-time opponent. Muhammad Ali will travel to Philadelphia to attend funeral services for Joe Frazier, according to a Fox29 News report. Ali and another former champion, Larry Holmes, will be among the mourners for Frazier, the former heavyweight boxing champ who died Monday. Ali and Frazier had a stormy relationship but made amends in recent years. It’s unknown whether Ali will attend the public viewings for Frazier on Friday or Saturday at the Wells Fargo Center, or the services for Frazier on Monday in Cheltenham. A viewing is set for Frazier at the Wells Fargo Center on Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The services are open to the public. Frazier’s funeral service is scheduled for Nov. 14 at Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church at 11 a.m., with a viewing beforehand. Frazier, who died at age 67 after a brief battle with liver cancer, is considered one of the great sporting figures in Philadelphia history. Frazier was the first man to beat Muhammad Ali, knocking him down and taking a decision in the so-called “Fight of the Century” in 1971. He would go on to lose two more fights to Ali, including the epic “Thrilla in Manila” bout. Frazier was bitter for many years about the way Ali treated him then. More recently, he said he had forgiven Ali for repeatedly taunting him. Ali went hard on Smokin’ Joe back in the day. Maybe too hard. We’re glad he’s making the effort to be there to pay his respects and regret that his struggle with Parkinson’s likely won’t allow him to speak about his former rival. R.I.P. Here’s is the ad for Marc Jacobs’ new fragrance Lola, featuring 17-year-old Dakota Fanning . Do you think this picture is inappropriate? The British sure do… A print ad featuring the teen actress has been banned in Great Britain after being deemed too “sexually provocative.” In the ad, an innocent-looking Dakota, dressed in a frilly pink dress, holds a giant bottle of Marc Jacobs’ Oh, Lola! perfume between her thighs. Four complaints were lodged from readers offended with the ad, which was enough for the Advertising Standard’s Authority to pull the campaign. Here is part of the ASA ruling’s: “The length of her dress, her leg and position of the perfume bottle drew attention to her sexuality. Because of that, along with her appearance, we considered the ad could be seen to sexualise a child. We therefore concluded that the ad was irresponsible and was likely to cause serious offence.” Coty Inc., the company that manufactures the fragrance, argued it was “provoking, but not indecent” and didn’t show any “private body parts or sexual activity.” Regardless of their plea, the ASA has banned it from being published in any U.K. publication. Ummm… do you see a problem with it? Here’s another shot from the campaign. Source More On Bossip! Shhhh! Embarrassing Secrets That Damn Near Ruined These People’s Careers And Lives! R.I.P. Some folks never learn. And we thought crack was bad. SMH. Meth just might be worse . Just ask Heather Raybon. She can’t seem to stay away from making the stuff, even though it’s exactly what effed up her face, sending her back into one painful surgery after another. Heather Raybon was left permanently scarred with terrible facial burns after being caught up in a blast at a meth lab in 2004. But police in Florida said despite the life-changing incident the 31-year-old has continued to try and manufacture crystal meth. She was arrested after police raided a trailer in Milton, Florida, while they were attempting to serve a warrant on fugitive Brian Mauldin. Inside the home police noticed a strong chemical smell that indicated the possible presence of meth manufacturing materials. Deputies also saw drug paraphernalia that was left in plain view and immediately summoned detectives from the drugs unit. Investigators who searched the residence allegedly found materials and ingredients used in manufacturing methamphetamine. Detectives also found 13 grams of meth powder, 32 grams of meth oil and an active ‘one pot’ meth lab that the couple had attempted to hide. A small metal pill bottle was found in Raybon’s purse. Its contents allegedly tested positive for meth. Fire crews were called to the trailer home to dismantle the active lab due to the threat of fire or explosion. Raybon and William Hindall, 30, who was inside the trailer, were arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of felony drug equipment and possession of listed chemicals to manufacture meth. In 2004 Raybon suffered third degree facial burns after an explosion at a suspected meth lab. She has undergone numerous facial surgeries in the last seven years. Sgt Scott Haines from Milton Police said: ‘Raybon has multiple past arrests involving methamphetamine related charges in Santa Rosa County. ‘Raybon also suffered severe and disfiguring burns during a fire that occurred on December 16, 2004 in Milton. ‘Due to the injuries and past intelligence, investigators believe that Raybon’s burns were consistent with being associated with a meth lab explosion; however Raybon was cooperative with investigators as to how the injuries occurred.’ Police are still looking for Mauldin who is wanted for the manufacture of meth. SMH @ this broad. Isht ain’t sweet. Check out the photos of Heather over the years, and the guys she was allegedly working with, below: Source More On Bossip! Shhhh!
