Charlie Sheen Live in Chicago: Actually a Crowd-Pleaser!

Charlie Sheen performed, or did whatever it is Charlie Sheen does, in Chicago last night. Unlike his disastrous Detroit show , it was somewhat organized. The audience actually seemed to respond positively to Sheen and the second leg of the “Violent Torpedoes of Truth / Defeat is Not an Option” tour, too. Some of the highlights: Sheen Live – Torpedoes of Truth The crowd starting a “Detroit sucks!” chant, after which Charlie read a poem about how much he hates the city of Detroit. Obviously. An interviewer asking him questions, including about his marriages, during which Charlie called Brooke Mueller a “kidnapper bitch.” Charlie trading shirts with a guy who told him to get naked. Charlie claiming he owes Heidi Fleiss $2 million dollars.

‘Hangover Part II’ Is ‘More Epic’ Than Original, Director Says

‘People are going to be really surprised,’ Todd Phillips tells MTV News. By Aly Semigran, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Photo: Warner Bros. Who’s afraid of the wolf pack? If the just-released trailer for “The Hangover Part II” is any indication of what moviegoers can expect come May 26, then it’s a whole lot of crazy antics. Yes, even crazier than before. The two-and-a-half-minute clip features the “Hangover” wolf pack — Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis and Justin Bartha — up to their old tricks (losing someone after a boozy night on the town, finding exotic animals in their bathroom) in a new setting (they’ve gone from wreaking havoc in Las Vegas to Thailand). So when MTV News caught up with “The Hangover Part II” director Todd Phillips at the 2011 CinemaCon in none other than Vegas, we had to ask if there were any way the sequel could live up to the wildly successful 2009 comedy. Phillips, who was also at the helm of the original (which brought in more than $467 million worldwide), said he believed “The Hangover Part II” is actually better than the first. “Audiences have really responded in the same way,” Phillips said of the reaction to the follow-up. “It’s just been out of this world. I think people are going to be really surprised.” In fact, Phillips himself gave the movie a stamp of approval that could sway even the most hard-core “Hangover” purists: “I think it’s a funnier film, and I think it’s a more epic film.” And while the 40-year-old writer/director said he still loves the original, he believes the sequel “just turned out to be a more satisfying film.” As if that weren’t enough, it seems the first film, which featured, among other things, drugging a Bengal tiger, a run-in with Mike Tyson and grown men getting tased by children, will be tame compared to the mishaps that occur in the latest. As Phillips explained: “We had less constraints on us — and I don’t mean money; just freedom to do whatever we wanted.” Do you think “The Hangover Part II” will be better than the original? Britney Spears’ MTV Special Is ‘For The Fans,’ Manager Says

‘I want them to know that Britney is back and better than ever,’ Larry Rudolph tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears performs “Till the World Ends” at Rain Nightclub in the Palms Las Vegas Photo: Roderick Trestrail Britney Spears gives fans an inside look at her life and the making of her latest album in the MTV special “Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale.” MTV News has of course been tracking the release of her record, which finally dropped on Tuesday, but we were also on hand as she performed in Las Vegas at the Palms’ Rain nightclub. Fans will get to see the show — and much more — for themselves when the special airs on Sunday, April 3, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV. When we spoke to Spears’ longtime manager, Larry Rudolph, in Vegas, he told us Brit wanted to put on a spectacle for her fans. She wanted to take her first Femme Fatale live performance to Vegas because much like the city, Spears’ concerts have lots of sparkle, pyro and razzmatazz, he explained. “We chose this place; we chose the Palms because the Palms is where Britney has so much history,” he said. “We performed here with the Britney album, we did a similar thing. We’re doing this eight years later now and we’re doing it for the fans.” Rudolph stressed that Spears has one main goal: to entertain her fans in the Femme Fatale era. “For her, it was really important to do it for the fans the first time she was out there,” he explained. “To do it here in Las Vegas, where everything is bigger and everything is more exciting and the fans are here for her, this was the place to do it. “I want them to know — when the fans watch this — I want them to know that Britney is back and better than ever, not that she’s ever gone anywhere,” he continued. “But she’s back and she’s better than ever.” Don’t miss “Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale” on Sunday, April 3, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV. Snoop Dogg Blesses YG’s Take On Chronic Classic

Rap vet talks to Mixtape Daily about YG’s Just Re’d Up Dr. Dre cover, featuring Nipsey Hussle and Tyga. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Steven Roberts YG Photo: MTV News Cornerstone Credentials: Dr. Dre (by way of Snoop Dogg and YG) Snoop Dogg once rapped, “It ain’t no fun if the homeys can’t have none,” and now that he’s achieved veteran status, he’s more than willing to bless the younger set. Newly minted XXL “Freshman 11” cover star YG recruited fellow Los Angeles upstarts Nipsey Hussle and Tyga for a remake of the Snoop-powered “Bitches Ain’t Sh–” from Dr. Dre’s classic offering The Chronic . The song is set to appear on YG’s forthcoming mixtape, Just Re’d Up , and Snoop gave the re-up of his and Dre’s track a thumbs up. “He let me hear it when we were onstage,” Snoop told Mixtape Daily . “And I love the younger generation. They don’t have to ask me or check in with me or none of that. If you want to use any of my music or any of my material or any of my lines — that goes for young, old, new, whoever — feel free. That’s what hip-hop is about: spreading love and sharing love. I never been one to say, ‘Well, he stole my lines; he took this from me.’ It’s all a part of hip-hop. It’s a culture we all share and love. If you want to get something from me or taking something from me as my young homey, you got permission. This is Big Snoop Dogg, you know I love the hip-hop game. YG, you know what it do; do your thing.” YG said when he was growing up, he watched Snoop, Ice Cube and others on the Left Coast put on for their city, and it’s something he wants to do being a part of the next generation. “I want to do the same thing when we start poppin’,” he explained. “So, I’ll be like, ‘Nip, you gotta mess with me. Tyga, you got to do some West Coast sh–.’ And it gets done. I’m just bringing us all together. We all do our thing, but I make it to where we do our own stuff but we can get it poppin’ together. So the city will know we’re f—ing with each other, and it’s all good. I’m really trying to bring back this whole West Coast on another level — some young fly sh–.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines .

Britney Spears Steals Hearts At San Francisco Show

Brit performs Femme Fatale tracks, shouts out LGBT teens at concert set to air Tuesday on ‘Good Morning America.’ By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears performs during “Good Morning America” Photo: C Flanigan/FilmMagic SAN FRANCISCO — The city of San Francisco loves Britney Spears and that love was apparent at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, where the pop star performed some of her brand-new Femme Fatale club bangers on Sunday afternoon (March 27). The excited roomful of fans were among the lucky group tapped to watch her tape a “Good Morning America” performance, which will air on Tuesday, the same day her album drops. Check out hot photos of Britney’s “GMA” performance . Before Spears even hit the stage, five fabulous drag queens warmed up the crowd and declared their adoration for the femme fatale herself. Their sassy back-and-forth was followed by Cheer SF, a cheerleading act. After the room was sufficiently warmed up, “GMA” hosts Sam Champion and Robin Roberts came onstage to introduce Spears. From a set that mirrored the one used in her Las Vegas show two nights ago, Spears kicked off with her lead single, “Hold It Against Me.” She dazzled the crowd with an engaging performance, dancing around in a stunning silver bodysuit. After the song, she smiled, telling the crowd “It’s beautiful” being in San Francisco to perform for them. After a change of clothes into a body-hugging, black bodysuit, Spears got sexy for the will.i.am collabo “Big Fat Bass.” As she shimmied to the thumping track, fans cheered along. Spears even gave a shout-out to the local gay youths who were in attendance from the Larkin Street homeless shelter and the LYRIC center for LGBT youth. “They’re in the front row; thanks for coming.” Between songs, Roberts and Champion taped intros and the former teased a top-secret announcement Britney is set to make on Tuesday when the show airs. Spears then performed one more track, her second single, “Till the World Ends,” to cap off the performance. After her last song, an excited-looking Britney gazed at her fans and told them she was looking forward to releasing her new album: “I love music. It’s my world, it’s my everything.” Before she left the stage, Brit was presented with a certificate from the city, and she thanked them exuberantly the super warm reception.
