Nicole Richie Completes Probation Early

The reality-TV personality had been put on probation in 2006 after a DUI incident in Los Angeles. By Jocelyn Vena Nicole Richie Photo: Jim Spellman/ WireImage Nicole Richie has officially completed her probation in connection with a 2006 DUI case, TMZ reports . Richie was put on probation that year in connection with DUI charges she received after being pulled over while driving the wrong way on a Los Angeles freeway. Richie’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, went to court Wednesday morning (December 29) to present the judge with proof that her client had completed the terms of her probation. The verification included a report from the alcohol-education program that the reality-TV star had been attending for the last 18 months. Richie was supposed to end her probation in February 2011, but the judge agreed to terminate it early after ruling that all the terms were been met sufficiently. Earlier this month, Richie and her longtime beau, Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden , finally tied the knot after dating for four years and having two kids together. The wedding took place in California at the home of Nicole’s dad, Lionel Richie. An array of stars helped the celebrate the nuptials, including No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani, celebrity DJ Samantha Ronson and Madden’s twin and Good Charlotte bandmate, Benji. Reverend Run presided over the ceremony. The couple have a 1-year-old son, Sparrow, and an almost-3-year-old daughter, Harlow. The pair made headlines last February when they announced their engagement. Richie broke the news during an appearance on “The Late Show With David Letterman,” while Madden took to Twitter to let the world know. In October 2009, Richie opened up about being a parent. “I couldn’t be happier,” Richie explained to People . “The only thing you want is for your kids to be healthy and happy, and they are. I’m right where I belong.”

Julian Assange released, vows Wikileaks to fight on

JULIAN Assange strode to freedom on the steps of the High Court in London and vowed his Wikileaks website would fight on. The 39-year-old Australian was released after nine days in the Victorian-era Wandsworth prison when the High Court said he should be granted bail while he resists extradition to Sweden on sex abuse allegations that he claims are a crude attempt to silence him. After a day of uncertainty about his fate, Mr Assange and his legal team walked outside the court yesterday into a light snow storm on The Strand to address about 200 journalists from around the world. “It's great to smell the fresh air of London again,” he said. “First, some thankyous. To all the people around the world who have had faith in me, who have supported my team while I have been away. “To my lawyers, who have put up a brave and ultimately successful fight, to our sureties (bail guarantors) and people who have provided money in the face of great difficulty and aversion. “And to members of the press who are not all taken in, and considered to look deeper in their work. “And I guess finally, to the British justice system itself, where if justice is not always the outcome at least it is not dead yet. “During my time in solitary confinement in the bottom of a Victorian prison I had time to reflect on the conditions of those people around the world also in solitary confinement, also on remand, in conditions that are more difficult than those faced by me. “Those people also need your attention and support. “And with that I hope to continue my work and continue to protest my innocence in this matter and to reveal, as we get it, which we have not yet, the evidence from these allegations.” Justice Duncan Ouseley rejected an appeal against Mr Assange's bail by Swedish authorities, who claimed if he was set free he might flee rather than face charges in Sweden that he allegedly committed four sex offences against two women in what began as consensual sexual encounters. Justice Ouseley said one reason he believed Mr Assange was unlikely to abscond was that the allegations against him in Sweden did not seem to be “a cast iron case… so he has some prospects of success”. Evidence that one Swedish prosecutor felt there was no case against Mr Assange before another prosecutor disagreed and decided to pursue the matter suggested that the case “would be one that could be resisted by an innocent man,” said Justice Ouseley. Mr Assange denies the allegations of sexual abuse and insists the Swedish prosecution is a politically motivated attempt to stop his website from revealing US government secrets. The internet publisher's release was delayed by a scramble to meet the court's demand for a

Meet Wesley Snipes Cell Mate (Satire)

RADFORD, PENNSYLVANIA – After finally giving up on appealing his tax evasion conviction, Wesley Snipes turned himself in to McKean Federal Prison Thursday to begin serving his three year sentence. After several hours of processing and orientation, Wesley Snipes was assigned a cell and then introduced to his new cellmate, Gregor “Bug Man” Samsa. After more processing, Wesley Snipes was taken back and locked inside the nine-by-twelve cell he’ll be sharing with Mr. Samsa for the next three years. Gregor “Bug Man” Samsa is in his second year of a six year sentence for burglary and grand larceny convictions. Three years ago it was discovered that he had burrowed into his vacationing neighbor’s basement, eaten all the food in their freezer and pantry, chewed holes in their furniture, linens and several expensive sweaters, and was in the process of building what appeared to be a nest in the corner of their laundry room. At the trial his lawyer attempted an insanity defense, claiming that his client awoke one morning to discover that he was an insect, but the jury didn’t bite and Mr. Samsa was sentenced to six years at McKean. Warden Kent Clark told The Daily Rash that the initial meeting between Wesley Snipes and Mr. Samsa went without incident. “The Bug Man is not one for small talk. After quickly shaking hands with Mr. Snipes he scurried back to his bunk. He tends to keep to himself most of the time. As long as Wesley Snipes isn’t looking for conversation from his cell-mate, I don’t foresee any problems in the next three years of his stay with us.” Several sources inside the prison claim that although Gregor “Bug Man” Samsa is viewed by many as peculiar and unusual, he’s never harmed anyone or been in trouble. Bill Bailey has worked as a guard at McKean prison for twenty-seven years. He told The Daily Rash that he’s confident that over time Wesley Snipes will grow accustomed to Bug Man’s “offbeat” behaviors. Wesley Snipes “Bug Man has a couple of peculiarities that I’m confident Wesley Snipes will eventually learn to tolerate. For example, Bug Man suffers from profuse sweating, chronic diarrhea and he doesn’t like to bathe… which makes for a less than appealing aroma inside a nine-by-twelve foot cell. But we do provide plenty of cans of Glade air fresheners and in the past, several of Bug Man’s cell-mate’s have found relief with large, pungent bowls of potpourri, scented candles and strong colognes. Once he adjusts, there’s no reason Mr. Snipes shouldn’t feel comfortable in his new cell.” Officer Bill Bailey paused to bark an order into his walki-talkie. “Bug Man does have one sore spot though,” he continued, “he doesn’t enjoy being looked at while he’s moving his bowels, which, because of his chronic diarrhea, occurs anywhere from ten to twenty times a day. Since prison cells are so small, it’s difficult to avoid looking in the direction of a man sitting just a couple of feet away from you while he’s having violent, explosive bowel movements. But since it happens so often, I am confident Mr. Snipes will reconcile himself to his new environment. And like I said, he’s got access to all the Glade freshener he can spray.” “It took me several months to adjust to the Bug Man,” Corrections Officer Cecil Jasper told The Daily Rash. “He sleeps during the daytime because at night he sits in front of the cell bars and stares up at the light bulb in the corridor. All night long he just looks at that light. When he does finally sleep, he sleeps under his bunk.” Officer Cecil cleared his throat. “He’s also a compulsive masturbater, which isn’t uncommon in a correctional facility. But when the Bug Man is, uh, you know….finishing, he releases a deep, guttural scream. It’s extremely loud and it echoes throughout the facility and scares some of the other prisoners.” Officer Cecil wiped his brow, “I would find it very difficult sharing a cell with him, but that’s just me. I’m sure Mr. Snipes will be just fine.” With just under eleven hundred days before his release, Wesley Snipes has a whole bunch of time to learn to tolerate his new roommate. added by: tverdell

Jenn Sterger to Release More Brett Favre Evidence?

Jenn Sterger has kept a low profile throughout the Brett Favre scandal. So far. That could change if she isn’t satisfied with the results of the investigation. If the NFL doesn’t discipline Favre for the sexting and voicemails he allegedly sent to Jenn, the former Jets reporter may decide to go public with proof. She has an “overabundance of evidence,” too, according to her manager. Does Jenn Sterger have more evidence that Brett Favre harassed her? Like his status every single Sunday, that remains up in the air … at least for the moment . Favre could get word any day now about potential punishment for allegedly sending Jenn Sterger photos of his penis while he was with the New York Jets. She was working as the team’s stadium host at the time. Jenn’s manager, Phil Reese, believes she “provided extensive evidence that irrefutably proves there was harassment” and adds, “No matter what happens Jenn has all legal remedies, including going public … if the NFL doesn’t clear her name.” Reese says the NFL’s action regarding the Brett Favre scandal weighs heavily on changing public opinion of Sterger. Basically, she wants him suspended. Sterger’s camp insists she has more evidence than the photos that have come out. Reese adds, “We sincerely hope the league does the right thing.” Here’s Brett hollering at Jenn on voicemail: Brett Favre Messages to Jenn Sterger

Demi Lovato: Nearing Settlement with Alex Welch

As expected, it looks like Demi Lovato and Alex Welch are close to reaching a settlement. A day after the 21-year old back-up dancer told the world that Demi had yet to apologize for last month’s punch to the face, the legal action has heated up between lawyers for both parties. Soon after his client gave this interview, Don Karpel said he would file suit against the Sonny With a Chance actress “in the next seven to 10 days” for alleged assault and battery. That got the attention of Lovato’s team, spokesman Jesse Derris said: “Demi’s attorneys have had an initial discussion with Mr. Karpel. They are exploring the possibility of an amicable resolution of this matter. We do not plan on making further public comments during this process.” Without going into detail, Karpel echoed this sentiment, telling E! News : “I have engaged in discussions with Demi Lovato’s attorney. I’m fairly confident we will be able to resolve these issues.” Expect an undisclosed amount to be exchanged between the two sides in the near future.

Did Britney Spears’ Camp Concoct Abuse Story?

Was last week’s tabloid report about Britney Spears being abused by her boyfriend a creation of someone in the star’s camp as a means of generating buzz? Probably not, but stranger things have happened. To be clear, we’re not saying Britney Spears or Jason Trawick was in on it, or that anyone was for that matter. But it’s a bit coincidental how it played out. The timing and details of this story? Awfully strange . Flash back to last week. Star reported that Britney phoned her ex, Jason Alexander, confessing that Trawick attacked her. Radar then posted the audio. Spears’ camp decried the rumor, analysts declared the tape bogus, and Brit Tweeted that everyone involved can “kiss my lily white southern Louisiana ass!” Then came this interesting Tweeted tidbit, too: “I’m almost done with my new album and it will be coming out this March. I AM IN L-O-V-E WITH IT!” While it seems crazy to think Britney Spears would need fabricated gossip to get people talking about her new release, this is manager Larry Rudolph’s M.O. The puppet master is famous for planting stories – typically about who Britney’s dating – and micromanaging all aspects of his client’s visibility and image. Can we see Rudolph, Alexander and Star all going in on this together, leaving Spears and Trawick in the dark? Absolutely … think about it, all parties win. Painting her as a sympathetic victim, then handing the floor over to Spears herself for a defiant denial and a casual announcement of the new record? Stranger things have happened, just saying.

WikiLeaks founder says guards against death threats

LONDON/STOCKHOLM — WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange said on Friday he and colleagues were taking steps to protect themselves after death threats following the publication of leaked U.S. diplomatic cables on their website. One of Assange's lawyers said he would also fight any attempt to extradite his client to face questions over alleged sexual misconduct, adding that he believed foreign powers were influencing Sweden in the matter. Washington is furious about the leak of hundreds of confidential diplomatic cables that have given unvarnished and sometimes embarrassing insights into the foreign policy of the United States and its allies. Answering questions online from an undisclosed location, the 39-year-old Australian said anyone making threats against his life should be charged with incitement to murder. “The threats against our lives are a matter of public record, however, we are taking the appropriate precautions to the degree that we are able when dealing with a superpower,” Assange was quoted as saying on the Guardian website. Britain's Guardian is one of a number of newspapers around the world with early access to diplomatic cables seen by WikiLeaks.
