Cee-Lo ‘F— You’ Collabo Was ‘Perfect Marriage,’ Bruno Mars Says

‘It was a dream session come true,’ Mars says of creating track with Smeezingtons producing partner and Cee-Lo. By Jayson Rodriguez Bruno Mars Photo: MTV News Bruno Mars and production partner Philip Lawrence of the Smeezingtons are the pair behind Cee-Lo’s potty-mouthed breakout hit, “F— You.” The track is equal parts brutal and comical and, according to Mars, the duo’s collaboration with the Gnarls Barkley/ Goodie Mob member was ideal. Mars and Lawrence have long been influenced by Cee-Lo and the rapper/singer took to their tune like Angelina Jolie did to Brad Pitt. “Talk about the perfect marriage, we been fans of Cee-Lo for real,” Bruno Mars told MTV News. “And we became labelmates and I was just feeding that to them,” he said of urging the record label to smooth the way for a collabo.” ‘We got to get in. I know he’s working on something, we got to do something.’ So he comes in the session, and it was one of the most organic sessions. “We wrote a song and it’s not for radio, obviously, with the title. We’re probably gonna have to work on that. But it was a dream session come true; that was the idea collaboration. Everyone was just putting their minds together and [we came] up with one of our favorite tracks we’ve ever done.” The production duo’s recent credits include tracks for Mary J. Blige, B.o.B and Travie McCoy, with Mars lending his vocals to McCoy’s “Billionaire” and B.o.B’s VMA-nominated smash “Nothin’ On You.” But the profanity-laced record was cooked up three years ago when Cee-Lo first began working on his sophomore solo effort, The Lady Killer, due December 7. The Smeezingtons delivered a rough sketch of the song that included production and a reference hook. Cee-Lo heard the music and instantly wanted the number, Mars said. “He came in and we started singing it for him,” Mars said. “And he’s just, ‘I love that, man. That’s beautiful.’ And we said, ‘Let’s go,’ and that’s all we really had — just that concept — and now it’s blowing up.” Have you heard Cee-Lo’s “F— You”? Tell us what you think in the comments! Actress was released from court-ordered rehab Tuesday. By Gil Kaufman Lindsay Lohan Photo: Dave McNew/ Getty Images Even though Lindsay Lohan was released from an inpatient drug rehab facility Tuesday after serving less than one-third of her court-ordered 90-day stint, that doesn’t mean the “Mean Girls” star is free to do as she pleases. Lohan, 24, who previously logged 13 days in jail on a 90-day sentence for a probation violation, faces a number of rigorous requirements if she wants to stay on the outside and not face another, longer term in jail.

Warner Bros sues over Harry "Popper" condom…

IT'S not every movie star who has a condom named after them. But Daniel Radcliffe's Harry Potter has become a brand of condom in Switzerland and Warner Bros is not happy. The Swiss condom brand “Harry Popper” is reportedly being sued for copyright infringement by the studio. Gawker.com details the hubbub with a broken-English quote from the Swiss newspaper Bote: “For Warner Bros. is obvious: The sorcerer Harry Potter have a 'very positive image.' Condoms have no business there. Especially not now. According to Warner Bros. in November to plan the launch of the new Potter movie. Also a new video game is in preparation. The lawyer for Warner Bros. bluntly: 'The image of my client is in danger.' There is no denying the correlation between the latex protectors and the popular wizard movie. If the name didn't do it for you, the illustration of a condom swinging a wand and wearing round-frame glasses will. added by: eden49

What’s Next For Fantasia After Overdose? PR Expert Weighs In

‘I don’t think this is a career-breaker,’ Howard Bragman tells MTV News of apparent suicide attempt. By James Montgomery Fantasia Barrino Photo: Larry Busacca/ Getty Images In the day since former “American Idol” winner Fantasia Barrino was rushed to a North Carolina hospital after an apparent suicide attempt, reaction from her fans has been mixed. Some have expressed their support for the singer, while others have criticized her for being “selfish,” given that she is the mother of a 9-year-old girl. While that criticism might seem harsh, it’s certainly par for the course, according to public-relations executive Howard Bragman, who has overseen the career rehabilitations of Isaiah Washington and Naomi Campbell. Barrino can’t worry about what some of her fans might think of her right now, he said, because she has to focus on her own health. And no matter how bad things seem right now, the forgiveness will come. “I think the number-one thing Fantasia has to do is heal. I think she has to get some psychological help, find out what brought her to this moment, and make sure it doesn’t happen again … that is number one,” Bragman told MTV News. “And once that’s under control, then you start to look at your projects on the horizon. You don’t give yourself this timetable. But assuming she’s well enough in a matter of weeks or months to promote her album or her projects, well, the reality is, we live in a very forgiving society. “We like rehab, we like rebirth, we like reconnecting with people,” he continued. “We’re willing to give people a second chance if they look us in the eye and [tell us] why they’re going on with their lives and why they deserve a second chance. I don’t think this is a career-breaker.” Speaking of that career, Barrino will eventually have to return her focus to upcoming projects, including a second season of her VH1 reality show “Fantasia for Real” in September and a new album, Back to Me, which is due August 24. When she finally does, she needs to prepare herself for an onslaught of questions about just what happened Monday. So the best possible strategy, according to Bragman, is to be proactive about things. “I think she’s certainly going to get asked the question about what happened. And if she were my client, I would do one or two very well-orchestrated interviews, possibly a print interview, a People magazine, and then a broadcast interview … and get it out there,” he said. “And then if you’re asked about it again, you say, ‘You know, I’ve really talked about that a lot, and I feel comfortable with what I said, and I’m here to promote my album’ to change the focus a little.” Bragman added that Barrino needs to take time for herself and only come back when she feels strong enough to do so. And when she does, he expects that her fans will welcome her back with open arms. “I think we go back to talent, and I think she’s got great talent, she’s got great heart and great spirit, and I think we want her to succeed,” he said. “I don’t think she’s one of those people we don’t want to see do well. … We’re on her side, and I think she’s going to feel the love when she goes back out there.” Where should Fantasia go from here? ASU denies claims made by student | The Augusta Chronicle

Augusta State University officials said it's not a graduate student's religious beliefs, but her refusal to work toward being able to counsel homosexual clients that is threatening her standing in the school's counseling program, according to court documents filed Monday. The filing states that Jennifer Keeton must demonstrate her ability to counsel all clients, including the homosexual and transgender population, in order to graduate. The response is the school's first legal answer since Keeton filed a lawsuit July 21 alleging that she was facing expulsion from the counseling program based on her religious beliefs and her refusal to complete “a thought-reform remediation plan.” In an e-mail cited in the suit, ASU assistant professor Dr. Paulette Schenck told Keeton “the faculty did not expect (her) to change (her) personal beliefs and values.” “(T)he unethical part (was) applying your own personal beliefs and values on other people and not truly accepting that others can have different beliefs and values that are equally valid as your own.” Keeton is a graduate student in ASU's K-12 school counseling program, which requires students to adhere to a neutral code of ethics. The university's response explains that ASU professors asked Keeton to complete a remediation plan after she wrote in a term paper regarding the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender, or GLBT, community that “it would be hard (for her) to work with this population.” Keeton also told fellow student Justin C. Earnest that she would tell gay clients “their behavior is morally wrong and then help the client change that behavior,” according to an affidavit by Earnest included in the school's filing. The remediation plan required Keeton to attend counseling workshops, read counseling journals regarding the GLBT community, increase her exposure to the gay population and write reflections on what she was learning. The university's legal filings did not directly address Keeton's contention that she was told to attend a gay pride parade as part of the remediation plan. Members of ASU's faculty also were concerned with Keeton's support of conversion therapy for homosexuals, which the American Counseling Association's ethics committee has concluded “may harm clients.” In her lawsuit, Keeton said the remediation plan “subjects her to aggressive ideological instruction” and asks that she “change her beliefs.” Keeton said she would like to continue her education in the counseling program without fear that the school “will punish her for her religious views” and her “unwillingness to change or abandon those views.” But university officials said if they exempted Keeton from counseling homosexual clients, they would also have to exempt those opposed to war from counseling soldiers. “The same curriculum would require an atheist student counselor to competently counsel a deeply religious client,” the filing said. “A staunch feminist student counselor is required to competently counsel clients from male dominated cultures … the common thread being that all counselors are required to keep separate their own belief system from the counseling relationship.” The suit also points to a U.S. District Court judge's recent opinion in a similar case, Ward v. Wilbanks. In the July 2010 ruling, a judge upheld Eastern Michigan University's decision to dismiss a student who refused to counsel a homosexual student or participate in a remediation plan. University officials said that if the court moves forward with Keeton's case it could affect the school's accreditation and other students' degrees. What's Next? Jennifer Keeton has asked the federal court to force the college to drop its requirement that she complete the remediation plan. The U.S. District Court in Augusta scheduled a hearing on her request for a preliminary injunction at 9 a.m. Wednesday. added by: toyotabedzrock

Fantasia Barrino Sort of Denies Antwaun Cook Sex Tape, Affair Allegations

Is there really a Fantasia sex tape ? Earlier this week, Paula Cole filed for divorce from her husband and cited his affair with the former American Idol champion as the basis for their break-up. In court documents, she even claimed Fantasia and Antwaun Cook “recorded their illicit activity.” In other words: they went all Kim and Ray J on each other! Now, through her reps, Barrino is speaking out against the allegations – and sort of, kind of, partially denying them. Would you tape yourself hitting this? Possibly, if you’re Antwaun Cook. Fantasia’s manager, Brian Dickens, has released a statement that says his client is “certain that she is not responsible for the deterioration of the Cook’s marriage.” It also reads: “Fantasia will weather this storm with the dignity and grace that she has exemplified throughout a life in which she has repeatedly overcome obstacles and challenges. Fantasia’s faith in God, herself and family remain as strong as ever.” Speaking to TMZ, meanwhile, Fantasia’s lawyer grew even harsher . Said Gena Morris: “Mrs. Cook gratuitously included claims about Fantasia to sensationalize that litigation and to insure that her tale would be picked up by tabloids.” THG is making no judgment, nor are we taking a side. But there’s not actually a denial of relations between Barrino and Cook anywhere in here from Fantasia’s team, is there?

Chris Isaak Being Considered For ‘American Idol’ Judge’s Chair

Fellow crooner Harry Connick Jr. is also rumored to be in the running to replace Simon Cowell. By Gil Kaufman Chris Isaak Photo: Stephen Lovekin/ Getty Images Auditions for the 10th season of “American Idol” already kicked off in Nashville last week, but there has still been no word on who will replace departed lead judge Simon Cowell come January. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the acerbic Brit’s chair could be filled by one of a trio of American musicians whose experience in the pop culture machine has given them plenty of expertise on what it takes to make it. Though they’ve been typically tight-lipped about who might be in the running, the Fox network has reportedly been set on finding a well-known music-industry figure to take over the lead chair, with names such as former Sony Music boss Tommy Mottola and Madonna manager Guy Oseary popping up in the rumor mill. But the Reporter said that it is “Wicked Game” singer Chris Isaak who has emerged as a leading contender after meeting with show runners twice so far in pursuit of the gig. The soft-spoken Isaak — who has also acted on shows such as “Cold Case” and “Smallville,” and hosted his Showtime series, “The Chris Isaak Show” — certainly has the industry background and camera-ready personality. But another crooner, past “Idol” mentor and amiable modern-swing singer Harry Connick Jr. , has also reportedly been considered. Though he’s publicly coveted the position and was “given the once-over” according to the Reporter, Poison singer and singer reality-show star Bret Michaels is said to be out of the running. “The Apprentice” boss Donald Trump has also reportedly lobbied for the job, though given his longtime association with NBC, the continued success of his signature show and his lack of music experience, he seems an unlikely choice. Adding to the tension, Cowell is casting around for judges for the launch of the U.S. version of his singing competition, “The X Factor,” and the long-simmering rivalry between “Idol” executive producer Simon Fuller and Cowell is said to have set off a tug-of-war over at least one desirable candidate that both shows are eyeing. A spokesperson for “Idol” could not be reached for comment at press time. Fox told the Reporter that no decision is imminent, but the network’s new entertainment chairman, Peter Rice, said he expects the new “Idol” judge to be in place by early September in order to take part in the audition process. Who do you think should replace Simon on “Idol?” Write your comments below. Related Photos Who Should Replace Simon Cowell On ‘American Idol’? Related Artists Chris Isaak

Student Sues for $1 Million challenge made on Dateline NBC

A Texas law student who took a defense lawyer's $1 million challenge from a “Dateline NBC” interview is suing for the money he claims he is owed. Dustin Kolodziej of the San Antonio area said attorney James Mason offered in a “Dateline NBC” interview he would pay $1 million to anyone who could prove him wrong in claiming his client, Nelson Serrano, could have made it from Florida's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to the La Quinta Inn, a 3-mile distance, in under 28 minutes, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Monday. “I challenge anybody to show me. I'll pay them a million dollars if they can do it,” Mason told the interview. Serrano was convicted of killing four people in Bartow, Fla., in 1997 and the prosecution's case hinged on his ability to reach the inn in the time frame. Kolodziej said he got off a plane at the airport, took his car from the parking garage and made it to the inn in just 19 minutes, capturing the whole experience on a camcorder. However, Mason refused to pay the $1 million reward, claiming the offer was a figure of speech. Kolodziej's lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Atlanta, alleges breach of contract, claiming Mason's statements on “Dateline” constituted a verbal contract. “What this case boils down to is would a reasonable person believe that this is legitimate,” said David George, a lawyer for Kolodziej. “Think about the context. He's on 'Dateline,' national TV, and his client is on death row. That is not a joking context.” added by: Stoneyroad

The Bachelorette Recap: Roberto Martinez Leads the Pack, Kirk DeWindt Gets Stuffed

After last week, The Bachelorette had its work cut out for it. Not only were the stakes high for Ali with hometown dates looming, but the Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi clash made for riveting, must-see train wreck TV. The hometown dates themselves last night? They all went well. Like, really well. She picked some good guys (mostly). Awesome for Ali, a little boring for us. Still, there was plenty to like about the episode, and plenty of hometown drama for us to go over here in THG’s patented plus-minus rundown of events … Roberto Martinez. Baseball uniform. Shameless, ABC. Plus 7 . Minus 3 for the wasted potential of baseball/dating puns (second base? eh?), but Plus 5 for Ali toeing the line between girly and sporty perfectly. So cute. Who will win the heart of The Bachelorette, Ali Fedotowsky? The Bachelorette star? So what. Roberto Sr. wants to make sure Ali is good enough for his son. Plus 4 for him taking it to her, and for her handling it well. If Roberto is the favorite, Chris Lambton is a close second. Ali Fedotowsky does seem to be a perfect fit in Chris’ Cape Cod home. Bay State 4 life!! Plus 6 . Minus 5 for the slight overkill regarding Chris’ mom. Yes, it’s a big part of who he is, and he’s very sincere. It’s the producers who overdo this narrative. How much do you want to swap your own family for Chris’? Plus 8 . The Lambtons are so, so genuine … which ABC exploits with the bit about the mom “up there helping orchestrate all this”? It’s The Bachelorette!! Minus 7 . Kirk DeWindt’s date is the most awkward, as it involves two eccentric families and one taxidermist. But Plus 3 , because everyone’s really nice. It is Wisconsin. At elimination time, you knew it was coming down to Kirk or Frank. The women in Kirk’s life are salt-of-the-earth folks who clearly love Ali. The only problem is Kirk himself. Nice as he is, there’s just something missing. Minus 2 . “Sometimes love is a complicated thing.” – Frank Neuschaefer. Deep. How can this man not be a writer when contemplative musings like this flow so easily? Plus 5 . Frank really needs a new look. Not only are his glasses too small for his face, is that a cardigan over a wife-beater? He’s like Mr. Rogers meets The Situation. Minus 7 . On a similar note, the fancy dresses don’t work on Ali Fedotowsky. She can totally pull off anything, but more baseball jerseys, fewer pink flowery gowns! Minus 4 . Plus 6 for the grainy, dream-like flashback footage during host-pimp Chris Harrison’s fireside chat with Ali … makes Roberto and Chris look even more dreamy, no? Again, Frank. Is that a tux and a sweatshirt at the rose ceremony? Minus 3 . If The Bachelorette spoilers are to be believed, we know who’s in the final two. If the promos for next week are to be believed, Ali may be paying a second visit to Kirk’s father’s basement … to stuff Frank’s corpse in that freezer. Plus 8 . TOTAL: +13. SEASON: +143 . Roses : Roberto, Chris, Frank. Out : Kirk. Who should Ali Fedotowsky choose?
