Drake Calls Nicki Minaj’s ‘Moment 4 Life’ A ‘Fantasy Video’

By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Sway Calloway Drake on the set of “Moment 4 Life” Photo: MTV News Drake has tons of acting experience, but he said he doesn’t need to bust out his thespian skills for his onscreen team-up with Nicki Minaj. The Toronto MC and former “Degrassi” star chopped it up with MTV News on the set of the video for the Young Money superstars’ collabo “Moment 4 Life,” which appears on Minaj’s Pink Friday album. Drizzy was coy about just how the two will interact in the clip, but hinted that the pair will give fans an eye-popping spectacle. “I mean, it’s a fantasy video,” Drake explained. “So you’ve got a very regal environment, and you’ve got Nicki doing what she does — big outfits, big everything — and it’s a great video.” In some of the footage MTV News scored on the clip’s Los Angeles set, Minaj grandly enters a sprawling mansion in an aqua gown with diaphanous draping. Looking over a balcony, Drake observes the rap diva as he nurses a martini. The Thank Me Later lyricist stayed mum about the clip’s narrative, saying he wanted to preserve the surprise of the visual, which premieres Thursday (January 26) on MTV at 7:54 p.m. ET and will be followed by a live Q&A session with Minaj. “The twist of it, or the concept of it, I don’t wanna give it all away,” Drake demurred. As far as his performance in the video, Drake said that because of his close relationship with Minaj, being the hip-hop Barbie’s leading man comes naturally. “Yeah, I love that girl, man. I’m not gonna lie to you,” Drizzy smiled. “I love her, so it’s easy. Jennifer Lopez’s ‘On The Floor’ Video To Be An ‘Underground Party’

‘We’ve seen so many club videos, but we want to see a club video with a vibe unique to Jennifer Lopez,’ choreographer tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias Jennifer Lopez Photo: Jeffrey Mayer/ Getty Images This weekend, Jennifer Lopez is set to film the music video for her club banger “On the Floor.” MTV News was at auditions in L.A., where some of the area’s most skilled and unique dancers showed up to see if they might make the final cut for the video. On Thursday, the video’s director, Taj, revealed what he was looking to capture in the clip: “Originality, being you. This song is about being who you want. It’s about letting loose. There’s no explanation. This is this underground video, this underground party.” Choreographer Frank Gatson Jr. gushed over the chance to work with the new “American Idol” judge on the clip. “I love working with J.Lo,” he said. “She’s a sweetheart. She understands the business.” Gatson also talked a bit about what the crew has in mind for the video’s funky vibe. “I kind of get the feeling that she wants us to be in the club after 2 a.m. in L.A.,” he revealed. “That’s so amazing. [It’s like] everybody had some watermelon and the watermelon made them high, it gave them a little buzz — but a good buzz, a real magical buzz, a dance buzz, a buzz that makes you feel like fried chicken, so she just wants everybody to have a good old time. “The club must have this vibe, where you get on the floor and everybody’s bringing it,” he added. “We’ve seen so many club videos, but we want to see a club video with a vibe unique to Jennifer Lopez.” “On the Floor” producer RedOne recently talked to MTV News about the track. “Of course, she’s global. She’s a global artist,” he said. “She’s a global actress, and the music has to be global, and the rhythmic side of it or the Latin and this thing of a dancer [all has to be there]. “She said, ‘I want to dance. Dr. Dre’s Detox Not Due April 20, Rep Says

A rep for rapper/producer says viral video isn’t referring to long-awaited album’s release date. By Jayson Rodriguez Dr. Dre Photo: Johnny Nunez/ WireImage After a video went viral of Dr. Dre seemingly announcing an April 20 release date for his long-awaited Detox, a rep for the rapper/producer told MTV News that the clip wasn’t referring to the album’s arrival. So what was the legendary producer referring to in the clip? That remains unclear at press time. Dr. Dre has been at work on his highly anticipated LP for years now, scraping together several versions of the songs at various times; in one case, he gave several beats slated for his project to 50 Cent for the G-Unit superstar’s debut album. In November, Dre’s first single, “Kush,” hit the Web and was soon followed by a potential follow-up, the Eminem-assisted “I Need a Doctor.” A month later, Dre premiered the video for “Kush” featuring Snoop Dogg and Akon. The clip, along with a cover story in the latest issue of hip-hop magazine XXL, seemed to confirm that the rap Chinese Democracy was finally slated for release. The producer’s penchant for perfectionism has long been the reason for the delay of Detox, which will be Dre’s first album since his 2001 LP in 1999. “[I’m] trying to put it out by the end of the fall,” Dre said in an interview this past summer about Detox. “Trying to give everybody what they’ve been waitin’ for and make sure they’re not disappointed; that’s all I’m doing.” What do you think Dre was referring to in the viral video? Birdman Joined By Lil Wayne For ‘Fire Flame’ Remix Video

Behind-the-scenes footage of the rappers on the set of the video shoot has emerged. By Hillary Crosley Lil Wayne on the set of the “Fire Flame” video Photo: Derrick G Birdman’s “Fire Flame” video has earned plenty of spins, and now that the Cash Money CEO’s “son” is home from prison , the duo have paired up for a remix clip. MTV News commandeered footage from the video , courtesy of photographer Derick G, and members of the Cash Money/ Young Money camp were in good spirits on the set. “It’s amazing, can’t believe n—as are using real cars and sh–, you know times have changed,” Wayne joked, marveling at the sports cars being utilized in the clip’s fiery scenes. The video looks to be a performance clip that alternates between shots of a set where a red car is parked on a black set peppered with fiery lights and a raised stage where the MCs trade bars, flanked by members of the Cash Money/ Young Money camp. “The addition to this song is, of course, Lil Wayne and the anticipation of his first video [since he got out of prison],” Gil Green, the clip’s director, said as he prepared for the shoot. “I haven’t even spoken to him since he’s been out. I look forward to seeing him and working with him again … The song’s called ‘Fire Flame’ so you’re in our fire room. Right now, it doesn’t look like much but in a few seconds … it’s going to be incredible. It’s going to get real hot in here.” Meanwhile, Young Money president Mack Maine revealed, “The first one was a movie and this one’s the sequel.” DJ Khaled also was on hand. “Shout to Weezy, Birdman. I love this record because it’s that hood sh–,” he said. “Right now they have this whole ‘Fire Flame’ scene going on that’s so crazy. Gary Shirley: Victim or Amber Portwood Antagonist?

Is rotund Teen Mom baby daddy Gary Shirley the target of Amber Portwood’s insane rage, or does he play a big role in antagonizing her? In a video obtained by TMZ, Shirley gets an earful from the accused felon, but the video raises serious questions about big daddy himself. Shot in April, the clip shows Shirley on the phone with Amber Portwood, who goes off on him as usual. Strangely, he seems to revel in it. Should we be pointing fingers at Gary as well? Portwood pleaded not guilty to assault this week, but Gary may not be a sympathetic figure. He sure had fun with this particular, button-pushing diatribe. While she was reportedly encouraged to fight Gary by MTV, cops say Amber claims it was not done for Teen Mom viewers’ sake but was authentic anger. While “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” DVD doesn’t come out until December 4, MTV News is delighted to present an exclusive clip from the highly anticipated release — complete with commentary from Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart! This isn’t just any clip either. Summit has kindly bestowed upon us a juicy little snippet from the fan favorite “tent scene.” In this clip, fans get to see the heated exchange between Edward (Pattinson) and Jacob (Taylor Lautner) as they discuss how Jacob will have to get into a sleeping bag with Bella (Stewart) in order to keep her warm and save her from freezing to death. Edward, of course, is not at all pleased with Jacob getting anywhere near Bella, but he must concede for Bella’s sake. Jacob, taking advantage of the situation, revels in the fact that his warmer-than-normal body temperature means he can do for Bella what Edward can’t. The scene itself offers plenty of entertainment, but it’s Pattinson and Stewart’s hilarious voiceover commentary about the scene that really sells it. “Slurp your coffee a little bit more,” we hear Stewart say to Pattinson. “That’s what the fans want.” “It’s not coffee,” Pattinson responds. “It’s an Arnold Palmer,” he says, attempting to pronounce it with an American accent. “You’re drinking an Arnold Palmer?” Stewart asks, sounding amused. “Having a little lemonade and iced tea?” Meanwhile, Jacob has just crawled into Bella’s sleeping bag, which draws Stewart and Pattinson back to the clip. “God, he’s so gross, so brazen!” Pattinson says of Lautner’s werewolf. “I really don’t like Jacob.” “Aww,” Stewart says. “Look at him and his tattoo and stuff. Ugh,” Pattinson mock scoffs. “He’s just young and overzealous,” Stewart says defending the young wolf. “He’s not!” Pattinson insists. “He does it on purpose. He’s looking at me when he’s saying this stuff.” “Yeah, that is weird,” Stewart agrees. “What is wrong with him? He’s like, ‘I don’t even care about her, I just want to,’ ” Pattinson trails off. “Look at him cradling!” Stewart points out, which provokes a burst of laughter from Pattinson. “His little head nooked in there,” she adds. “You look like you’re milking him,” Pattinson says as both “Twilight” actors break out laughing.
