Lauren Conrad On What She’s Learned From ‘The Hills’

LC’s future projects include book tour, expanding clothing line, she says at ‘Hills’ finale afterparty. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Tim Kash Lauren Conrad and Tim Kash Photo: MTV News Lauren Conrad is pretty busy these days , so fans were pleasantly surprised to see LC take some time out of her busy schedule to stop by the series finale aftershow for “The Hills” on Tuesday night. And while the appearance was short, it was also very sweet. As she told MTV News backstage, as soon as she was done with her final “Hills” appearance she was heading right back to work on her many, many projects. “I finished two more [books]. I have a double book tour October 5, so I’ll go around the country for I did another novel [“Sugar and Spice”] and I did a style guide [“Lauren Conrad Style”], which is really great,” she shared. “And I’ve been spending a lot of time with Kohl’s on my clothing line, which is expanding.” She added that it’s all her hard work that makes her happy these days. “I’ve been keeping busy and I get to do all these things that I love, so it’s been really great,” she said. She’s already got a lot on her plate, but LC admits there’s another big task she’d really like to try. “The only other thing I’d love to do right now is producing — I’m just kind of looking for the perfect project because I think the first thing I do I really have to love, so I want to wait until I really have enough time to commit to a series.” Finally, looking back on her time on the show, did she learn any lessons that apply to her life now? She laughed, “I didn’t learn a thing! I’m the same as I went in. I learned not to take yourself seriously!” What are you looking forward to seeing from LC next? Tell us in the comments! From a Vat of Green Tea, Grows Gross (but Cool) Green Fashion called BioCouture (Photos)

Bio Bomber Jacket, grown from a vat of green tea. Image courtesy of Suzanna Lee. Is it possible to “grow a frock from a vat of liquid” using cellulose-spinning bacteria? This is exactly what fashion designer Suzanna Lee asked before she began BioCouture , a research project based at Central Saint Martin’s College in London. From a vat of sugary green tea, she grew a textile biomaterial, resulting in seamless clothing that has the look and feel of vegetable leather (we read it first on Seed and Sew ). Britney Spears Presents, Dishes on Candie’s Line

The incomparable Britney Spears dished a little bit on her newest offerings for her Candie’s clothing line, available only at Kohl’s, in an interview with InStyle . After spending three years as the face of Candie’s , Britney Spears has stepped into a new role: designer. She’s co-created her own line, Britney For Candie’s. “I love the black trench coat,” Britney said. “You can wear it over your outfit or as a dress. There’s also an amazing studded skirt that’s perfect for going out.” “I wanted to make the clothes cool and edgy yet girly,” she added . “I also love jeans, so I had to make sure there were some great pairs in the collection.” Britney Spears is all smiles (for once) at a Candie’s photo shoot . Of the design process, she says she met with the designers first, and “we sketched the items together. I loved it when I saw the samples for the first time.” The pop icon also said that because her “personal style is mix of comfortable and flirty, I love cute little dresses but I also love comfy sweaters and jeans.” You know there are no bras in the collection. Just saying. It’s great to see our girl taking on a bigger role in the clothing line that bears her name. Photo via OSTC With the gruesome pictures of oil-covered birds and soiled shorelines now rolling in, and the narrative of the spill split between BP’s continued inability to get a handle on the flow from the source and the federal government’s inability to get a handle on BP, an important element of this debacle has slid under the radar: BP has continued to deploy hundreds of thousands of toxic chemical dispersants into the Gulf — despite repeated directives from the EPA demanding th… Read the full story on TreeHugger
