Judy Eddy/WENN.com Meek Mill To Be Honored By Inaugural R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players Award Billboard is throwing the first ever installment of a new awards show they have dubbed R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players. The show will air on Thursday, September 27 and has announced that the event’s marquee moment will be Meek Mill receiving the first ever “Power Players Impact Award.” CNN’s Van Jones will be the one to present Meek his award. Billboard reports that they are hoping to recognize the “strength [Meek] has demonstrated in the face of America’s criminal justice system, the light he has shined on the country’s need for justice reform and his constant creative output.” Back in April, the Philly rapper was released from Pennsylvania state prison on bail after he was sentenced last November to two to four years in prison. The rapper is still fighting the probation violation charge that prompted the sentence, which was issued on the basis that he was arrested earlier last year, once for reckless driving and once for fighting at an airport, although both charges ended up being subsequently dropped. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ordered Mill’s release amid a contentious legal battle, in which the rapper’s lawyers argued that his judge was biased. Beyond that, his original arresting officer, who was the sole witness in the 2008 trial for drug and firearm charges that later resulted in Meek’s probation, was banned from witness stands by the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office due to a history of “lying, racial bias, or brutality.” In the few months since Meek’s release, the Roc Nation rapper has been a very outspoken advocate for criminal justice reform. In addition to public comments, he formed a reform awareness foundation with Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin and partnered with Jay-Z to create a docu-series about about the criminal justice system. Congrats to Meek on the upcoming award.
David McNew/Getty Images Now, THIS is scary… U.S. Border Patrol Agent Arrested For Alleged Murders Authorities are describing a US Border Patrol agent arrested in connection with the deaths of four women and the kidnapping of at least one more as a “serial killer.” CNN reports that Juan David Ortiz, 35, confessed to killing four people between September 3 and September 15. Authorities are not ruling out the possibility of finding more victims. The victims were all believed to be prostitutes who were shot in the head. Ortiz was arrested after a woman he reportedly kidnapped managed to escape and call for help. Ortiz was arrested in Laredo, Texas and is charged with four murder charges and one unlawful restraint with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Donald Trump is too short, too out of shape and possesses hands that are way to small to dunk a basketball. But the President of the United States nevertheless took some time out of his late Friday night to try and slam one home on… … LeBron James? Yes. The very stable genius, who thinks one needs an ID to purchase groceries , jumped on Twitter around midnight and Tweeted the following about the new Los Angeles Lakers star : Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike! There are many things to point out about this Tweet. For starters, Lemon interviewed LeBron on Monday night, meaning there are only one of two options here: Trump used TiVo to record the interview and watched it days later. Trump was simply watching CNN, the network he often claims “sucks” and is terrible and is full of “fake news,” when it re-aired the Q&A. Either would be a totally normal thing for the Commander-in-Chief to do, right? Secondly, LeBron James was interviewed by Lemon (along with other outlets) because he just opened a public school in Akron, Ohio. To reiterate: James donated millions and millions of dollars to the I Promise school, an institution for at-risk children in his hometown that will offer: – Free college tuition to the University of Arkon for all graduates. – All students a free uniform, free bicycle and free helmet. – Job assistance and GED training for the parents of all students. – A food pantry for families. – Free breakfast, lunch and snacks for all students. One could easily argue this is the most generous and impressive off-court gesture ever made by a professiona athlete. And THIS is the individual that President Trump has chosen to insult as unintelligent. We wonder why. Yes, James has referred to Trump as a “bum” on Twitter in the past and he also said in June that whichever team won the NBA title would turn down an invitation to visit the White House. But head NBA coaches Steve Kerr and Greg Popovich has been far more critical of Trump. The latter said in March that Trump is a liar and a hypocrite and that he brings out the “dark side of human beings for his own purpose.” Yet Trump has never uttered a negative word about Kerr or Popovich. We really do wonder why. What makes LeBron different from these two other men in his profession. Can anyone out there help explain it to us? In his CNN interview, James discussed the impact of sports and how it brings people together, contrasting this experience with the way Trump uses “sports to kinda divide us.” A great example of this would be Trump’s constant bashing of NFL players for being unpatrotic because they are protesting violence against African-Americans by taking a knee during the national anthem. “Sports has never been something that divides people,” James told Lemon. “It’s always been something that brings someone together.” A few months ago, LeBron expounded further on Trump’s self-centered and misguided attitude toward… everything and everyone. “He doesn’t understand the power that he has for being the leader of this beautiful country,” James said. “He doesn’t understand how many kids, no matter the race, look up to the president of the United States for guidance, for leadership, for words of encouragement. “He doesn’t understand that, and that’s what makes me more sick than anything, that we have someone that’s … this is the most, this is the No. 1 position in the world.” In his viral Tweet above, Trump said he likes Mike, very likely making a reference to Michael Jordan in the debate for who is the best basketball player of all-time. The world now waits to see if Jordan will chime in with his opinion of the President. It also now waits to see if Trump will get impeached for being a traitor.

The driver–identified by The St. Louis Post Dispatch as 32-year-old Jason Gargac–filmed his interactions with passengers using a small camera mounted on his windshield, and streamed the footage live on Twitch. Some of the conversations Gargac recorded revealed passengers’ full names, where they lived, and more according to reports. Uber announced that it ended its “partnership” with Gargac, while Lyft said it had “deactivated” his account. Unfortunately beyond that, the driver faces no legal repercussions for his behavior because Missouri has “one party consent” privacy laws–this means that only one participant in a conversation needs to agree to its being recorded. Crazy, right? “In regards to our policies, under our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, we do not allow people to share content that invades others’ privacy,” a Twitch spokesperson commented. “If reported to us by the person whose privacy was invaded, we would take action under our Community Guidelines to remove the content.” A lot of people believe that this case highlights a major disconnect between existing privacy laws and modern technology; “When these laws were drafted and enacted, I don’t think any of these states could have envisioned what we have in this case, where you have livestreaming video,” said CNN legal analyst Page on Sunday. According to Gargac, the camera was primarily a security measure, saying he knew “if something happens, immediately there can be a response, versus hopefully you’ll find my truck in a ditch three weeks later.” He said the streams were “secondary” but added “I try to capture the natural interactions between myself and the passengers — what a Lyft and Uber ride actually is.” What would you do if you found out your Uber driver was live streaming your ride?!

Yuri Gripas – Pool/Getty Images Trump Signs Executive Order Stopping Policy Of Separating Families After public outrage, y’all’s lil President was forced to cave in and stop his inhumane policy of separating children from their families at the border. CNN reports that Cheeto In Chief signed the order today at the White House after being pressured by both political parties, celebrities, and world leaders. The order means that while deplorable pile of pimento is STILL criminally prosecuting everyone who crosses the border until he gets that dumb azz “wall”, the “tender age” camps and those cages should stop. “We’re going to have strong, very strong borders but we are going to keep the families together,” he said as he signed the order. “I didn’t like the sight or the feeling of families being separated.” Mind you Trump JUST hinted at being unfazed by the sight of crying children ripped from their families and told Americans he’d “rather be strong” than have a heart. Pres. Trump addressing “dilemma” with immigration policy: “If you're really pathetically weak the country is going to be overrun by millions of people, and if you're strong then you don't have any heart… perhaps I'd rather be strong.” https://t.co/mATcMfWOkq pic.twitter.com/vWaCduBIEQ — World News Tonight (@ABCWorldNews) June 20, 2018 What…a…piece…of…isht. What do YOU think about this citrine colored curmudgeon caving into political pressure???
When you hear the names Donald Trump and Kim Jong-Un, your first thought probably has to do with stocking up on canned goods or making peace with your god. Your second thought might be something along the lines of, Damn, those dudes are both rocking some almost impossibly sh- tty hairstyles. So perhaps it should come as no surprise that Dennis Rodman — he who brought the aesthetic of a Hot Topic clerk to the National Basketball Association — should also be involved in the summit taking place in Singapore this week. Is the Worm still rocking hair colors that make him look like he was recently fired as the bass player Chumbawumba? Tough to say, as Dennis is rarely seen without his MAGA hat these days. As you've likely heard, Rodman has traveled to North Korea several times, and he's long been an outspoken supporter of Trump. So with the help of his sponsor — a virtual currency for cannabis entrepreneurs called PotCoin — Rodman traveled to Singapore to … … Well, we're not exactly sure why he was there, but while discussing his previous forays into foreign policy on CNN, the 57-year-old broke down in tears. “When I went back home, I got so many death threats,” 57-year-old Rodman cried. “When I came home, I couldn’t even go home. I had to hide out for 30 days. But I kept my head up high, brother. I knew things were going to change. “I believe in North Korea,” Rodman then blurted, in case anyone was unconvinced that whoever runs the simulation we call life is currently on a bender. Depending on your political affiliation, you're probably saying to yourself either: “Jeez, the guy feels safer in North Korea than he does at home among the sicko libs!” Or: “Yeah, dude, generally aren't big on sanctioning murderous regimes by partying with psychotic dictators. Somehow, both sides are both right and wrong. Don't ask us to explain that; this situation has caused our brains to leak out of our ears.
While the world continues to come to grips with the loss of Anthony Bourdan, a key new detail regarding the celebrity chef’s death has been made official. Bourdain, of course, tragically took his own life on Friday . His body was discovered in a French hotel room by close friend Eric Ripert, who had been filming a new episode of CNN’s Parts Unknown with Bourdan in Ripert’s native country. Those who have followed this sad story closely already knew that Bourdain killed himself via hanging, and they already knew his death took place in the aforementioned hotel room. But French officials have now confirmed two more critical pieces of information: Bourdain hanged himself in the hotel room’s bathroom. He used the belt from his bathrobe to do so. Prosecutor Christian de Rocquigny also says that there are no signs of foul play. There are no indications anyone had entered Bourdain’s room at the luxury Le Chambard Hotel any time close to the beloved star’s passing. This should effectively end all official inquiries into Bourdain’s death. Questions will continue to be asked about Bourdain’s state of mind and mental history and what could have possibly caused him to make such a heartbreaking decision. But there are not many more practical details related to his suicide that remain uncovered. The French prosecutor did add in his report that toxicology tests were being carried out, including urine tests, to determine if Bourdain was on any medications at the time of his hanging. Said CNN in a statement yesterday morning: It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdains. His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time. Bourdain had premiered Parts Unknown on the networkin 2013 and won a Peabody Award shortly thereafter. He was widely respected for the way he paid tribute on his show to a wide variety of cultures and countries. Tweeted Italian actress Asia Argento, Bourdain’s girlfriend of about a year, hours after news of the chef’s death went viral: “Anthony gave all of himself in everything that he did. His brilliant, fearless spirit touched and inspired so many, and his generosity knew no bounds. ” He was my love, my rock, my protector . I am beyond devastated. My thoughts are with his family. I would ask that you respect their privacy and mine.” Bourdain leaves behind an 11-year old daughter from his second marriage. He was 61 years old at the time of his death. His final act came three days after fashion designer Kate Spade also killed herself ; she did so by hanging herself in her New York City apartment. In response to these developments, the Mental Health Association of New York tells TMZ that its hotline has experienced a 25% increase in call volume compared to this time last week. The number has been shared by number of celebrities on social media, which the organization says has resulted in more people “being aware of the resource and calling the Lifeline to get help.” It’s simply awful that it took the suicides of two respected global figures for this to happen. But perhaps some solace can be found in the silver lining that people with mental health struggles are taking the necerssary measures to make sure they don’t end up like Bourdain, Spade and so many others.
