This might get a better reception than Zoe Saldana as Nina . Mike Epps is set to play comedian Richard Pryor in the new Nina Simone biopic. The 41-year-old funny man has landed the supporting role of comedian Richard Pryor in the upcoming Nina Simone film. Epps will play the comedian in the early 1960s when he would open the singer’s shows when they were both starting out. In her autobiography, Nina Simone recalled how she would calm down the comedian when he suffered from his terrible stage fright. According to The Hollywood Reporter, filming for ‘Nina’ begins this week in Los Angeles with Avatar star Zoe Saldana portraying the iconic jazz singer. One of the better looking couples in Hollywood has called it quits. According to Just Jared, Teresa Palmer ( I Am Number F our) and Scott Speedman ( Last Resort ) broke up in late summer, with the latter already moving on to his ABC costar, Camille De Pazzis. He was spotted swimming with her in Hawaii this week. Palmer, meanwhile, has been linked in the past to suck hunks as Liam Hemsworth , Russell Brand and Zac Efron.
Rosie O’Donnell really, really loves and respects Alana Thompson. Okay, not really. But the comedian – fully recovered from a near-fatal heart attack and now married to Michelle Rounds – sat down for a joking interview with People this week in which she said: “I love Mama June. I love Sugar Bear. I love Chubbs. I love ’em all.” Here Comes Honey Boo Boo , of course, earned monstrous ratings for TLC this summer and will return in the fall/winter with more episodes. Of the seven-year old at the center of it all, Rosie says : “She has a presence and an intellect that goes way beyond her years.” And O’Donnell concludes that she may one day take a trek fo McIntyre, Georgia: “I’d love to meet them and buy them a house.” She’s kidding. The actress is featured on the cover of August’s Marie Claire and remains mostly mum on her fairly new relationship, but does allow that the musician is making her one content woman at the moment. “I will say that I’m happier than I’ve ever been and I feel very lucky right now,” says Wiig, responding to the question of why with a pair of answers: “Where I am now. Who he is. Those are the two big ones.” The Oscar-nominated Bridesmaids star is doing quite well professionally, too. She has three projects in the works: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (opposite Ben Stiller). Imogene (opposite Darren Criss). The Comedian (opposite Robert De Niro). Still, she clearly has perspective on what matters in life, telling the magazine: “When you’re on your deathbed, you probably aren’t counting the movies you’ve made. You’re looking at the people who are around you and thinking about the people in your life, and you can’t lose how important that is because that’s ultimately where happiness comes from.”
