Seth Rogen’s Untitled Cancer Flick No Longer Untitled

Monotone Canadian funnyman Seth Rogen’s cancer-based comedy is sporting a new name . Previously known as I’m With Cancer and then simply reported as Untitled Cancer Comedy, it’s now been dubbed Live With It. Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as a 25 year-old who contracts a rare form of terminal cancer and Rogen stars as, I’m guessing, his braying boobish friend. They’re joined by a bevy of talented co-stars, including Anjelica Huston, Bryce Dallas Howard, Anna Kendrick and Philip Baker Hall. [ /Film ]

Female Daily Show Staffers Prove Their Existence in Rebuttal to Jezebel

Where is Eve Ensler when you need her? Back on June 23rd, Jezebel writer Irin Carmon wrote a somewhat scathing critique of The Daily Show — spurred on by the tryout and potential hiring of geek pin-up Olivia Munn — succinctly summed up by its title, “The Daily Show ‘s Woman Problem.” What followed was a series of mostly off-the-record quotes and comments from former female staffers that painted the offices of the Comedy Central cultural kingpin with the same brush that might be used for a frat house or at least the Harvard Lampoon. Now, the female staffers of The Daily Show have responded with snark worthy of Stewart himself.

Adam Sandler, Chris Rock Talk Richard Pryor Biopic

‘It’s all being worked on,’ Sandler tells MTV News, after losing director Bill Condon to ‘Breaking Dawn.’ By Eric Ditzian Chris Rock and Adam Sandler Photo: MTV News Richard Pryor died in 2005 at the age of 65, leaving behind a legacy of legendary comedy — and equally legendary debauchery. He was the guy a generation of stand-up comedians modeled themselves after, and he was the guy whose long-standing drug abuse — including a frightening incident in which he lit himself on fire while freebasing cocaine — stood as a warning to rising comics about the dangers of addiction and fame. Two of the comedians who rose to prominence in the decades after Pryor’s trailblazing comedic stylings, Adam Sandler and Chris Rock , are deep in development as the producers of “Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?” a biopic about the funnyman. Eddie Murphy circled the Pryor role at one point, and before his death, Pryor himself anointed Mike Epps (“The Hangover”) as the guy for the part. But the gig eventually went to Marlon Wayans. Why? Rock had some answers. “Marlon Wayans, he did a screen test and it was just unbelievable,” Rock told MTV News recently. “It’s not just doing the comedy of Richard Pryor. He captures the vulnerability of Richard Pryor.” Long attached to helm the project, director Bill Condon should begin shooting “Is It Something I Said?” in the fall. But now that Condon has signed on to direct the conclusion of the two-part “Twilight Saga,” “Breaking Dawn” — also this fall — things seem to be getting complicated. Is Condon still on board? Will Sandler and Rock get their project off the ground? “Hopefully, soon,” Sandler said. “It’s all being worked on. Hopefully soon.” What do you think of Marlon Wayans playing iconic comedian Richard Pryor? Would you have cast another actor? Let us know in the comments!

Scream 4 Goes to New Lengths for Secrecy

Nothing against Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson, but odds are pretty good that whatever Scream 4 plot twist they’re trying to keep — by bypassing agents and stopping their table reads at page 75 — probably isn’t as cool or shocking as they think. I mean, the minute you add Adam Brody to your cast, everybody knows he must be the killer, right? Anyway, calm down, you guys. If fellow new castmates Marley Shelton and Erik Knudsen can’t keep a secret, then who can? [ THR ]

Judd Apatow and Pee-wee Herman Team Up For Film About Stunted Adolescence

Exhibit A in the “Judd Apatow is the comedy version of Quentin Tarantino” argument: The uber-producer is helping Paul Reubens dust off his Pee-wee Herman costume for yet another big screen outing. Said Apatow: “Let’s face it, the world needs more Pee-wee Herman.” And if that sounds familiar, that’s probably because it is a variation on what Tarantino was saying about Pam Grier sometime before Jackie Brown came out. So… what will Pee-wee’s latest big adventure be like?

MRC’s Bozell: Comedy Central’s ‘JC’ Has No Advertiser Support

Of the more than 300 corporate sponsors who have sponsored Comedy Central in the past, not a single one has indicated their intention to buy advertising time on the planned “JC” program should it ever be set to go to broadcast. That’s the victorious announcement today from Citizens Against Religious Bigotry (CARB), a group co-founded by NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell and a handful of other social conservative activists. “The sponsors understand what the programming department at Comedy Central does not: Religious bigotry is bad business,” Bozell noted in a statement. “With literally zero advertiser support for this program, the only reason Comedy Central would put it on their broadcast schedule is in an effort to offend Christianity and Christians. There is no valid business reason for airing ‘JC,'” the Media Research Center founder argued.  Full the full press release, click here .
