Budweiser may be the quintessentially American beer, but the Anheuser-Busch InBev corporation that owns Bud is actually headquartered in Leuven, Belgium. As Belgium faces off against the US in today’s Round of 16 World Cup action, you may think that the Anheuser-Busch folks would be facing a serious conflict of interest. When presented with this quandary, however, the folks in Budweiser’s advertising department solved it with one word: ‘Merica! Budwiser World Cup Commercial Yes, the Bud commercial that’s set to air during today’s game match is basically a rocket-powered cowboy boot capable of turning into a Mustang that runs on bald eagle droppings. The InBev folks know where their bread is buttered and it ain’t in the land of waffles! We may not be able to find Ghana on a map , and most of us couldn’t tell you the difference between a sweeper and a striker, but as anyone who’s ever seen Americans go bonkers over a last-second goal knows – when the stakes are high, we take our sports as seriously as our beer! So crack a cold one and cheer on US Men’s National Team to victory. Oh, and a word of warning, InBev – don’t let us find out your European commercial features Jean-Claude Van Damme doing…Belgian stuff. 15 Hottest Players In the 2014 World Cup 1. Yet another doody-based commercial has hit the Internet. On the heels of Kmart’s Ship My Pants ad from last year, Grey Poupon* has unveiled a new spot that gives this fancy mustard a new tagline. The video seems innocent enough upon first glance, as a number of everyday folks are using the popular item as a condiment with their burgers and potato salads. That’s simply what they Poupon… get it? You most likely will after one woman says she Poupons her husband’s chest. GROSS! No wonder it was supposedly banned, huh? Fake Grey Poupon Ad * This ad was not actually made by Grey Poupon. It is, instead, the work of OBVS (Online Broadcasting Virtual Station). And it’s hilarious. Judy Cox is taking a stand. The Orem, Utah resident was shopping with her 18-year old son yesterday when she strolled past the window of a PacSun store. It displayed graphic shirts as part of the company’s “Visual” line that Cox found truly horrifying. Utah Mother Buys Every PacSun Shirt “The bottom of one woman is completely exposed, uncovered and it’s a very provocative pose that she’s in,” said Cox . “Clearly it was offensive and I was most concerned about the youth and the children that would be viewing this.” So how did Cox respond? She bought every explicit shirt in the store in order to keep them off the backs of much younger consumers. There were 19 remaining in stock, setting Cox back a little under $600. Cox plans to return the shirts at the end of PacSun’s 60-day return policy, saying this gesture was more symbolic than anything. She also plans to meet with Orem city attorneys to see if the items violate the local code, as Orem is mostly comprised of members of the Church of Latter-day Saints, and its motto is “Family City USA.” “I hope it sends a really strong message to PacSun that at least in this community this is not a standard for us,” Coox says. “This is not something we approve of.” Here’s a look at a few of the t-shirts in question: Offensive PacSun Shirts: Do They Go Too Far? Kraft macaroni and cheese, Vanilla Ice and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Secret of the Ooze. If that’s not a recipe for a great TV ad, we don’t know what is. Vanilla Ice Kraft Commercial If it wasn’t obvious, all three of those things have joined forces for a commercial promoting Kraft’s new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mac and cheese shapes. The spot finds the rapper stocking shelves (probably not too big a stretch these days) and reviving his “Ninja Rap” from the 1991 sequel to TMNT . The song, from the ever-so-brief peak of Ice’s popularity, features the the familiar refrain, “Go Ninja Go!” and memorably showcased him in a cameo. Back to the ad, it’s as random and awkward as it sounds, but it owns that fact. Then one shopping mom starts dropping verbal bombs in lockstep with Robert Van Winkle, and the apocalypse becomes one step closer to reality. Her kid’s face says it all … but damned it if it doesn’t make you wanna chow down on Kraft mac and cheese tonight! You can feed the whole family for like $2!
