Jennifer Lopez Latest Celeb To Enlist Fan Feedback On The Net

J. Lo is letting you choose ending of her ‘On the Floor’ video, joining growing list of stars who have also left decisions to fans. By James Dinh Jennifer Lopez Photo: Jeffrey Mayer/ Getty Images Jennifer Lopez is set to drop her dance-tastic video for “On the Floor” in less than a week, and she’s letting her fans choose how the Taj Stansberry-directed clip ends. On Thursday, Lopez visited Ryan Seacrest’s morning radio show to announce that she’d be giving her fans the option to pick between two 15-to-20-second alternate endings , with the final cut airing during the March 3 “American Idol” broadcast at 8 p.m. ET/PT. “You get to do what I do,” J. Lo said during “On-Air With Ryan Seacrest.” “Like, I go in there with my videos and I start editing and picking all the shots I like and the things that I like and what I feel the best kind of feeling for the record is. You guys get to do that. We picked two different ones and we weren’t sure.” Lopez joins a list of stars, who have also maintained an interactive relationship with fans in order to get feedback on everything from song selection to tour set lists and promotional appearances. Katy Perry’s “E.T.” Single Back in December, Katy took to Twitter to ask fans what they thought should be the next single off her smash Teenage Dream. Shortly after, the pop star thanked fans for their suggestions, admitting that she agreed with the majority of them. Fast-forward two months as Katy selected the futuristic tune “E.T.” as to be the fourth release off her sophomore effort, and adding Kanye West into the mix. Bon Jovi’s Concert Set List When Bon Jovi teamed up with YouTube for a special concert show last year, the rockers were set on giving fans complete control. Lead singer Jon Bon Jovi recorded a video message, which was appropriately uploaded onto the site, asking fans to send in their song suggestions via text or video entry. And as expected, the group performed signature hits, including “Livin’ on a Prayer” and “It’s My Life” during the concert event. Janet Jackson’s Tour Dates Scheduling a tour can be difficult for busy artists, especially when there are so many cities to cover. However, that’s not the case with Janet Jackson’s upcoming world tour , for which she allowed fans vote on the cities where they’d most like to see her perform. The pop icon eventually selected a slew of dates based on fan submissions and they’ll get to hear her perform songs from her greatest-hits album, Number Ones. Rolling Stone Cover It’s not only stars who request fan feedback: Rolling Stone magazine is letting fans choose 1 of 16 unsigned bands to grace their coveted front cover, they announced last week. Through a tournament-style competition, fans will submit votes until the last two bands are standing. From there, the finalists will compete in an onstage battle of the bands that will determine who gets the cover and a recording contract from Atlantic Records. Betty White’s ‘SNL’ Facebook Campaign As Betty White’s popularity skyrocketed in recent years, so did the demand for her onscreen appearances, including admirers who wanted her to score a gig on “Saturday Night Live.” After an overwhelming Facebook campaign to have the then-88-year-old actress host the late-night sketch comedy show, White finally took the “SNL” stage and gave viewers what they wanted. With the help of White, “SNL” alums like Tina Fey and Maya Rudolph, and musical guest Jay-Z, the show earned its best numbers in more than 18 months. Lady Gaga Inspires Fans At Madison Square Garden Show

‘She’s god! This little monster loves her mommy!’ one fan told MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga performs at Madison Square Garden on Sunday Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage On Monday night, Lady Gaga’s little monsters put on their best Gaga as they headed to Madison Square Garden for Mother Monster ‘s latest stop at the famed New York City venue, where she was making her first of two appearances. The fans were not only treated to her Monster Ball, but also got the chance to see Gaga’s new single “Born This Way” live and be part of Gaga history as she taped the concert for an upcoming HBO special . So, what stood out most? “When she gave her little speech about never letting someone tell you can’t get a Grammy [or] you can’t get an HBO special,” Gaga fan Leanna told MTV News outside the show, moments after Gaga wrapped up. “I cried because it was just so meaningful … it’s like no one can tell me no.” Fellow fan Carey noted that Gaga is always thinking of her fans when she puts on her two-hour-plus spectacle. “I always feel like it’s catered to her customers and her fans,” he excitedly shared. “Go little monsters!” Casey noted that being in the room as Gaga performed “Born This Way” was awe-inspiring. “I mean, it’s her hometown and she just reenacted the Grammy performance,” she said. “It’s f—in’ beautiful.” It seemed that particular song really resonated with the fans who came out to see Gaga. “My favorite was the last song, ‘Born This Way.’ To me, it’s a great anthem for kids today, or anyone for that matter,” Gaga fan Tony said. Evie and her pal Cecelia also loved the finale. “I loved ‘Born This Way’ at the end,” Evie said. “It was perfect. It was the perfect ending.” And two of Gaga’s New York fans summed it up this way: “She is our religion,” Danielle proclaimed. Her pal Joey agreed, adding, “She’s god! This little monster loves her mommy!” Related Photos Lady Gaga’s Madison Square Garden Performance Related Artists Lady Gaga

‘Justin Bieber: Never Say Never’ Director’s Cut Could Hit Theaters Soon

Jon M. Chu said to be working on version with new footage that may be released in theaters this month. By Eric Ditzian Justin Bieber in “Never Say Never” Photo: Paramount With a running time of one hour and 45 minutes, Justin Bieber’s “Never Say Never” packs in 3-D concert footage, home videos, behind-the-scenes looks, interviews with everyone from Snoop Dogg to the pop star’s vocal coach and extended, slow-motion shots of the 16-year-old shaking out his famous locks. Perhaps, however, you didn’t get your fill of the kid — perhaps your Bieber Fever rages on. In which case, you might be in luck. New York magazine’s Vulture blog reports that Paramount Pictures is making plans for a director’s cut of the film, following its $29.5 million opening this past weekend. Director Jon M. Chu is said to be working on an updated version of the movie, including new live performances, footage of Bieber at the “Never Say Never” premiere and various advance screenings, and potentially scenes shot at the Grammy Awards on Sunday. The studio is reportedly waiting for delivery of the re-cut film before deciding if it will be released in theaters late in February or as part of a special DVD. MTV News’ request for comment to Paramount (which, like MTV News, is owned by Viacom) was not returned as of press time. Box-office grosses for the concert film are likely to decline in the coming weeks, following Bieber fans’ initial pilgrimage to multiplexes during opening weekend, and the re-cut film could dramatically boost its B.O. bottom line. If the new version does hit theaters, it will likely be as a 3-D-only release, as the cost of releasing digital prints is significantly less than printing and shipping film prints. A final decision on a release will be made once Chu finishes the cut after returning from international premieres in London and Paris. ‘Justin Bieber: Never Say Never’ Is Friday Box-Office Smash

3-D documentary beats ‘Just Go with It’ with $12.35 million. By Shawn Adler Justin Bieber in “Never Say Never” Photo: Paramount Pictures America has come down with a severe case of Bieber Fever, and stars Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston and Channing Tatum, among others, are left looking for a cure. The 3-D concert pic, “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never,” topped all comers at the Friday box-office, pulling in $12.35 million from 3,105 screens to start the Valentine’s Day weekend. The performance film continues the music-themed genre’s revitalization in recent years, following strong February openings for the similarly styled “Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience” in 2009 and “Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both World’s Concert Tour” in 2008. In second place, the Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston-starring “Just Go with It” pulled $9.7 million from 3,548 screens. The latest in a string of man-child-grows-up flicks from Sandler, “Just Go with It” could still win the weekend with a high Saturday bounce. New releases “Gnomeo and Juliet,” starring the voices of James McAvoy and Emily Blunt, and “The Eagle” featuring Channing Tatum and Jamie Bell, followed in third and fourth place, respectively, with the former pulling in $6.1 million and the latter just $2.75 million. Rounding out the top five, last week’s winner, “The Roommate,” managed just $2.6 million on Friday. The Leighton Meester-starring roommate romp brought its total up to $20.3 million in its second week of release. Last week’s second-place film, the James Cameron-endorsed “Sanctum,” fell all the way to eighth place, scaring up $1.4 million on 3-D and IMAX screens. Among the rest of the top ten, Oscar frontrunners “The King’s Speech” (sixth place) and “True Grit” (ninth place) continued their impressive runs. Check out everything we’ve got on “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never,” “Just Go with It” and “Gnomeo and Juliet.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com.
