Jeff Gordon Test Drive Goes Viral, Traumatizes Car Salesman For Life

Pepsi Max and NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon have teamed up for a viral ad in which Jeff disguises himself as a regular guy looking to test drive a Camaro. The poor car salesman may never be the same. Jeff Gordon Test Drive “It’s got some power, so just get a feel for it.” The 41-year-old, unassuming 5’8″ Gordon already fits the average Joe mold, but the cheesy goatee really makes the look. As for his driving skills? Let’s just say those moves aren’t street legal. The ad is a takeoff on last year’s Kyrie Irving spot, in which the Cleveland Cavaliers guard dressed as an old man and owned guys on the playground. Both are pretty classic.

Hillary-Michelle in 2016? All-First Lady Ticket Generates Buzz

There have been presumptions that former First Lady, Senator and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will make another White House run come 2016. She leads a recent 2016 presidential poll (yes, there was one), and given her resume and name recognition at this point, that’s not a real surprise. But this is: Another, even more intriguing idea floating around the web this week is that current FLOTUS Michelle Obama could be her running mate. “All due respect for President Obama and Vice President Biden, but that would truly be a dream team,” former Clinton spokeswoman Karen Finney said. “Both women are proven leaders who’ve raised children, so dealing with Congress would be a snap!” she added, having apparently never seen Congress. Democratic strategist Chris Lehane also said that “this reflects the growing awareness that it is time for the glass ceiling of the last old boys club to be firmly shattered.” “I look forward to the day when a woman can run for the presidency without so much parody and fanfare,” ex-Al Gore campaign manager Donna Brazile said. A recent poll from Qunnipiac University found that in a hypothetical presidential race, Hillary Clinton would likely trump any Democratic challengers. “Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would start a 2016 presidential campaign with enormous advantages,” said Qunnipiac’s Peter A. Brown. “She obviously is by far the best known and her more than 20 years in the public spotlight allows her to create a very favorable impression on the American people.” As for Michelle Obama joining the ticket? We’d put the chances of that at just above microscopic, but a future run for office could be more likely. Clinton ran for U.S. Senate in the last year of husband Bill’s presidency, serving from 2001-2009 before joining the Obama administration as its top diplomat. Most likely, if she’s interested in politics at all beyond 2016, Michelle would follow that blueprint. Until then, let the speculation continue to run rampant.

Man Dressed as Zebra Tries to Escape Japan Zoo in Earthquake Preparedness Drill

The headline above and video below speak for themselves. A guy dressed as a zebra attempted to flee a Japanese zoo in an earthquake preparedness drill designed to train employees for such a situation. Good times. Japan Zoo Escape Drill Taking full precautions so that no animals go missing in an earthquake, Tokyo’s Tama Zoo came up with an elaborate (and unintentionally funny drill). Similating a realistic sense of fear and emergency (and hilariousness) the zoo employed a human to dress in a zebra suit and terrorize the other workers. Well, as much as a dude running around in a zebra suit can terrorize anything. The man-zebra put forth a good effort, delivering a nice head-butt to one of the workers, but he was fake tranquilized in the end. Mission accomplished! No word on whether a zebra was chosen due to its prisoner-like appearance.

USPS Cuts Saturdays; Weekend Service to End August 1

The USPS will end first-class mail service this summer after 150 years in a cost-saving maneuver. The move to cut Saturdays will be announced today. The switch from six days a week to five only affects first-class mail; packages, mail-order medicines, priority and express mail will still get delivered. Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) says the move will save the struggling US Postal Service, which lost $16 billion last year alone, about $2 billion a year. The Postal Service has lost $41 billion over the past six years as more and more Americans turned to private shippers, email, and online banking. To save money, the Postal Service also slashed hours of service at about half the nation’s 26,000 post offices and trimmed its workforce by 35 percent. But it wasn’t enough. “Look, they’re in survival mode,” Coburn said, calling the move inevitable. “They’re losing $25 million dollars a day. A day. They have to do something.” As per 1984 law, Congress must authorize the USPS to make any cut in service, but the move is believed to have strong bipartisan support (for once). Coburn said the public will approve and benefit, and that there’s a consensus among political leaders as well that this is a change that must happen: “This change has bipartisan support. President Obama has repeatedly called for moving to five-day delivery of mail, most recently in his FY 2013 budget.” What do you think of the USPS cutting Saturday service?

Bolitics: Congressman Says President Obama Used Black People To Get Elected Again But Rejected Them For High-Ranking Cabinet Positions

Congressman Slams President Obama For Lack Of Minorities In His Cabinet An African-American lawmaker from Florida is slamming President Obama for failing to appoint minorities to high-ranking positions in his administration since being re-elected. Congressman Alcee Hastings even claims that the President was also reluctant to spend campaign money to advertise in African-American publications. via The Grio Florida congressman Alcee Hastings lashed out at the Obama administration during a recent appearance at the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA) convention. The 76-year-old lawmaker has joined a growing chorus of pundits, activists and politicians who have been critical of the White House for its lack of minority second-term Cabinet appointments. Obama’s picks for Treasury, Defense and Secretary of State have all been white males. “The Black Caucus of Congress then sent 61 names to the White House,” Hastings said, according to the Sacramento Observer. “Time went by. Not one of that 61 was selected – not one.” Hastings also claimed that the Obama campaign only begrudgingly invested in advertisements in black publications during the 2012 election cycle. “If I was president of the United States, there is no way in hell that I would raise a billion dollars and don’t spend but a million dollars with people who probably had as much to do with my becoming president as anybody,” he said. Hastings made history in 1993 when he became the first African-American elected to Congress from Florida. There could be some truth to this…..or this guy could just be salty because he didn’t get appointed to the position of his choice. Which do you think it is?

Hillary Clinton Choked Up During Emotional Benghazi Testimony

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton choked up today while testifying before Congress about the attack that left four Americans dead in Benghazi, Libya. Hillary Clinton Benghazi Testimony “I stood next to President Obama as the Marines carried those flag-draped caskets off the plane at Andrews,” Clinton said , her voice hoarse with emotion. “I put my arms around the mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, sons and daughters.” Clinton is the only witness testifying before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. She will appear before the House Foreign Affairs Committee at 2 p.m. The secretary, who postponed her testimony regarding the much-publicized tragedy in December due to illness, tried to give context to the terrorist attack. “Any clear-eyed examination of this matter must begin with this sobering fact,” she began, noting that 19 similar attacks have taken place since 1988. More than four months have passed since the attack killed U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans in Libya – and left many pointing fingers. The State Department relieved three employees of their posts and a fourth resigned because of “systemic failures and leadership deficiencies at senior levels.” State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said Clinton would tell Congress how the department has responded to the attack and those deficiencies. Clinton is reviewing recommendations from the Accountability Review Board, getting status updates on their implementation, and talking to people in the department. Clinton testified briefly before the Senate two weeks after the attack, an appearance that received criticism from conservatives in that little was revealed. The matter was still under investigation at the time; allegations of a Benghazi cover up dogged President Obama for weeks after the Sept. 11, 2012 attack.

Lady Gaga Machine Gun Bra: A Step Too Far?

Lady Gaga is always one to spark controversy, but this, even for her, is outrageous. Her explosive fashion choice has many folks questioning its appropriateness. At one point during her show in Vancouver, Canada, on Friday, Mother Monster stepped out sporting a bra adorned with two fake plastic assault rifles. Lady Gaga Machine Gun Bra Just one day earlier, V.P. Joe Biden met with Congress and the NRA about how to curb gun violence in the wake of the Newtown, Conn., school massacre. Wonder what Kelly Osbourne would have to say about this if she hadn’t quashed her beef with Gaga. Does it send the right message – even if she intends it to? What do you think of Gaga’s machine gun bra? Vote below!   Love it! Chill out! Hate it! So tasteless! View Poll »
