Given the fact that he still has two books to finish in the acclaimed series that inspired Game of Thrones, fans of George R.R. Martin’s would probably prefer that he stay out of harm’s way. Unfortunately for them, Martin has made it clear that he doesn’t give a dragon’s deuce what his fans think, and he recently decided to involve himself in a high-stakes international pissing contest. As we imagine you’ve heard by now, the Seth Rogen-James Franco comedy The Interview was pulled from theaters this week following a series of terrorist threats from what’s believed to be a group of North Korean hackers. Several stars have expressed their frustration over the fact that the nation’s five largest theater chains backed away from the film, thus setting a dangerous precedent and essentially giving in to the demands of terrorists. But while most celebs are content to post outraged online tirades, Martin is putting his money where his mouth is and offering Rogen and company a chance to show their movie on the big screen. In a recent LiveJournal rant (dude is stubbornly old-school), GRRM blasted the “corporate cowardice” of the Regal, AMC, and others, and offered to screen the controversial flick at his own independent theater in New Mexico. “Come to Santa Fe, Seth, we’ll show your movie for you,” Martin writes. Obviously, Rogen’s gotta be less than thrilled with the fact that basically every theater dropped The Interview , making a small arthouse in Santa Fe his best option for reaching an audience, but c’mon…it’s not every day the man who created the Starks offers to make you the King in the South. Her mom is going to jail for over a year. Her dad is going to jail for over three years. But Gia Giudice is sticking by the side of Teresa Giudice and Joe Giudice. A couple hours after her controversial parents were sentenced to prison for committing various kinds of financial fraud, the 13-year old took to Twitter on Friday and wrote the following: “Family forever. Such an amazing support system it’s unreal. The little things matter to me but the big things matter to you.” A judge decreed late last week that she had to set an example, ordering Teresa Giudice to jail for 15 months . Earlier that same day, she sentenced Joe Giudice to jail for 41 months . Despite previous rumblings, it’s pretty clear the Giudices have told their kids about their impending fate, with Teresa starting her prison term on January 5. During the trial, the couple’s lawyer Miles Feinstein told Judge Esther Salas that Joe Giudice tried to do “everything he could” to exonerate Teresa. “He wanted his wife to get the best deal she could get,” Feinstein said Thursday. “He is a real man.” Yup. A real man who wasn’t satisfied being a part of the 1% and who therefore put his family’s future at risk by lying on mortgage and bankruptcy applications. Earlier this week, Urban Outfitters was forced to issue an apology and pull a sweatshirt off its shelves that it dubbed “vintage.” For what reason? The sweatshirt represented Kent State University and most definitely looked like it had blood splattered all over it, a clear reference to the tragic shootings in May of 1970 that claimed four lives on campus. Yeah. Urban Outfitters actually went there. For some reason. And Urban Outfitters has gone there many times in the past, as this company has become infamous for some seriously scandalous articles of clothing. It’s often been joined by retailers Zara and American Apparel, both of whom should be ashamed of some of their creations. References to the Nazis? To mental illness? To… a bloody vagina ?!? Why did these companies include these controversies on their clothing? To make headlines, we suppose.
