The seasoned makeup artist has been on sets for years collaborating with brands like the The Colored Girl Collective on bold presentations that highlight the beauty of Black women, and being featured in style segments for publications like Essence . Designed to select representatives to be ambassadors for the international beauty conglomerate for one calendar year the competition for a slot was stiff, but Watson never faltered. Shortly after the announcement of this year’s picks she talked to Hello Beautiful about what it took stand out in the crowd of candidates. I told my manager at the time ‘Look I’m not going to be a cashier I’m going to be on the floor doing makeup and selling makeup, and then I just went in and I proved myself. Practicing for a career in the spotlight through the competition. “I want to work on commercials,” she revealed. Not having formal training didn’t intimidate her. “Skill you can always gain a skill,” she said. “But your unique personality, your unique look, your unique style is what speaks.” She saw doing things like finding her lighting and practicing poses as chance to “stretch me artistically.” She campaigned hard swapping out a portion of her usual inspirational “morning gram” videos for stylized tutorials and photos that showed her ability to represent the brand in static or video format. Now that she has proven her versatility she hopes to use her platform with Sephora to reach a bigger audience so she can inspire more people. “I hope I can make a difference for anyone male, female, Black , white, Asian by letting them know that there’s someone like them out there letting them know that there is someone that’s a representation of them.” Placement in the Sephora Squad will give Watson the opportunity to not only appear in digital advertisements representing the interests of the brand to the everyday person to others it will allow her to advocate for diversity to brand decision makers . She doesn’t yet know how she will speak up for others in the space, but she is making it a priority to continue being her “bold, honest and outgoing,” self. “Sephora is a universal place it’s a universal playground. It opens a lot of fields for me. I want to be a representation for women of color there. This is how I’m going to make an impact by doing what I love.” DON’T MISS: MODEL MONDAY: A Free Plane Ticket Launched Gabby Fé’s Plus Size Modeling Career MODEL MONDAY: HBCU Dancer DaQuendra Elston Never Let Her Size Hold Her Back MODEL MONDAY: Ambre Anderson Went From Staying On A Couch To Owning A Condo By Keeping Focused [ione_media_gallery src=”https://hellobeautiful.com” id=”3054496″ overlay=”true”]

Shady Business? Jeffrey Epstein Reportedly Hadn’t Been Checked On For Hours Before Apparent Suicide

Source: Patrick McMullan / Getty Jeffrey Epstein Was Reportedly Left Unattended For Hours Before Apparent Suicide To say there’s a lot of skeptics out there when it comes to Jeffrey Epstein’s apparent suicide is an understatement. According to reports, correctional officers at the New York City prison that was housing the financier and convicted sex offender didn’t check in on him for hours leading up to his apparent suicide on Saturday. Making things even more confusing, this also came after his cellmate was transferred for reasons that were not immediately made clear. The 66-year-old was found unconscious in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, and later pronounced dead. Following reports from weeks before that the billionaire was on suicide watch, people immediately began asking questions about how Epstein could have been able to kill himself while in such a high-security facility. Then, it was reported that f or “several hours” leading up to his death, correctional officers hadn’t checked in with Epstein at all — despite being required to visit him every 30 minutes, according to The Washington Post . Epstein was placed on suicide watch in July and was been given psychiatric evaluations after he was found with bruising on his neck, but was taken off suicide watch by the end of the month. New York City’s chief medical examiner, Barbara Sampson, said on Sunday that an autopsy was performed but more information was needed before a cause of death could be determined. Among those skeptical about the financier’s apparent suicide are *surprise surprise* Donald Trump. The Cheeto-In-Chief retweeted a conspiracy theory on Saturday, alleging (without any evidence, of course) that former President Bill Clinton was somehow connected to the death of the accused sex trafficker. Died of SUICIDE on 24/7 SUICIDE WATCH ? Yeah right! How does that happen #JefferyEpstein had information on Bill Clinton & now he’s dead I see #TrumpBodyCount trending but we know who did this! RT if you’re not Surprised #EpsteinSuicide #ClintonBodyCount #ClintonCrimeFamily pic.twitter.com/Y9tGAWaAxX — Terrence K. Williams (@w_terrence) August 10, 2019 Trump said just last month that he had not spoken to Epstein since his 2008 guilty plea, and that his relationship with him was no different than that of anyone else in their circle. Jeffrey Epstein was facing up to 45 years in prison.

Can’t You See? Pam Of Singing Group Total Believes ‘Diabolical’ Ex-Spouse MANIPULATED Cyntoia Brown Into Marrying Him

Source: Johnny Nunez/BET / Getty Pam Says Cyntoia Brown’s New Husband Is A Manipulator Sex trafficking victim Cyntoia Brown was recently exonerated from a lifetime in prison , which some may call “lucky”. But now the 31-year-old woman is being warned to watch her back after marrying a man whose famous ex-wife says he’s up to NO good. Pamela Long from 90’s singing group Total tells The Neighborhood Talk that she believes her ex-husband Jamie Long preyed with on Cyntoia for attention. Long claims to be a ”Christian rapper”, and formerly a band member in the group Pretty Ricky (have ya’ll ever heard of him???). Well, apparently he and Cyntoia are a married couple. According to a Daily Mail report, the pair wed while she was in prison. To peep a photo of Cyntoia and Jamie CLICK HERE . Before Cyntoia, Jamie Long was married to Pam for 5 years. Their marriage ended in 2018. Here’s what Pam had to say about her ex-hubby and his new wife: In a statement provided to The Neighborhood Talk, Pamela says that she married Jamie in 2013 and their divorce was recently finalized in February. She also states that he was unfaithful throughout their marriage and expressed her concerns for Cyntoia going forward. “This man is diabolical and he is such a manipulator. The way this man pursued this woman is the way he did me. He came and found me using the same card, “He was a Christian artist,” said Pamela. “May the Lord God protect her and her money. It’s about who she is in the public eye and what she has.  By her having this face in the media it helps him to have a chance to be around what he deems as the elites,” she exclaimed. “Mr. Long may be able to hide behind his handsome looks of being a good man, but God knows the heart and exposure is coming.” Interesting. What do YOU think married Cyntoia should do with Pam’s advice?

Chicago Nonprofit Aims To Combat Diabetes Within The Black Community

Link:

A frican Americans are disproportionately affected by the growing diabetes epidemic. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services , Black adults are 80 percent more likely than whites to be diagnosed with diabetes. A new Chicago-based nonprofit is striving to reverse the alarming trend. According to Black News , The Suga Project is creating a space to foster conversations surrounding ways to combat Type 2 diabetes and the overall importance of Black health. The organization—which was founded by Natalie Pauls —was established to provide resources for African Americans who are battling diabetes and for others who want to get involved in addressing the epidemic. Cognizant of the rising numbers of Black folks who are affected by the disease, Pauls wanted to create a platform where they could feel empowered and supported. The Suga Project provides informative courses that teach individuals how to lead healthier lifestyles. “The numbers are startling,” Pauls said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “African Americans are four times more likely to have an amputation due to diabetes complications. African American women are dying at rates greater than any other group of women in history.” The organization’s overarching goal is to see a decrease in the number of diabetes cases within the Black community. Several individuals and organizations are working to spread awareness about diabetes amongst African Americans. Earlier this year actress Viola Davis teamed up with the pharmaceutical company Merck to narrate a documentary titled A Touch of Sugar that captures how the disease is impacting communities across the country. “I’m one of the 84 million American adults living with prediabetes and I’m sharing my story for the first time in an effort to inspire others to take action against the type 2 diabetes epidemic,” she said in a statement about the film. “When you look at the facts, there’s nothing harmless about diabetes – it’s a chronic disease that needs to be taken seriously if we’re going to get it under control.” SEE ALSO: Viola Davis Spreads Awareness About Diabetes Through New Documentary GirlTrek Movement Inspires Black Women To Take Charge Of Their Health [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3459090″ overlay=”true”]

The first installment of the series will focus on Emmett Till and his mother Mamie Till ’s fight for justice after he was horrifically murdered following false accusations that he flirted with a white woman. The show’s first season was inspired by a novel penned by Devery S. Anderson titled Emmett Till: The Murder That Shocked the World and Propelled the Civil Rights Movement . Other executive producers include Roc Nation’s Tyran “Ty Ty” Smith , Overbrook Entertainment’s James Lassiter and individuals from Kapital Entertainment, The Middleton Media Group, Serendipity Film Group, and Mazo Partners.
