Niiiiice *Fabolous voice* According to TMZ reports : Chad Ochocinco and Evelyn Lozada have signed their deal to do a “Basketball Wives” spinoff show with VH1 … and they each have 300,000 reasons to celebrate … TMZ has learned. According to our sources, filming on the new show will begin in the next few weeks, right after taping for “Wives” ends. We’re told the show will focus on the couple as they get ready to exchange vows this summer. Our sources say negotiations finally wrapped last week and the two will each take home $300,000 for about two months of work. As TMZ first reported, when Evelyn re-upped her contract with “Basketball Wives” last year, part of the deal called for VH1 to give her and Chad their own show. The show should be officially announced this week. 300 racks is no small change, especially in these economic times, but we kind of expected that number to be a lil’ higher considering that Evelyn is the engine in the Basketball Wives Bentley. ‘Cuz they like to partay! BeyBey and hubby Hov were spotted at a birthday dinner for Robin Thicke this weekend. Details via Page Six : New parents Jay-Z and Beyoncé enjoyed a rare night out to celebrate R&B singer Robin Thicke’s 35th birthday. The superstar couple joined Thicke for a three-hour feast at Meatpacking restaurant Catch, along with friends including Russell Simmons and music mogul Andre Harrell. With a party of 20, backed by a wall of security guards, crooner Thicke kept the mood intimate and handed over his own iPod playlist to the two-story restaurant, where it was played throughout. Our spy says Jay-Z kept it casual, donning a T-shirt and baseball cap, while a glam Beyoncé was “glowing with motherhood” and showing off a svelte figure post-pregnancy, “Beyoncé was showing off Blue Ivy’s baby pics, and the talk at the table was all about the joys of parenting,” we’re told. One diner at a nearby table got into the spirit and sent Thicke a $30,000 bottle of Ace of Spades Rosé to help him and his guests celebrate. Sounds like fun. Hopefully this one will work out for Halle: French actor and heartthrob Olivier Martinez is in town to promote his new restaurant, Villa Azur, which opened last night on South Beach. While Halle Berry may or may not be on hand for the opening, Martinez finally confirmed their engagement rumors once and for all with a simple “Yes, of course it’s true.” But there is another rumor he’s not so keen on. “There is a jeweler taking credit for doing the ring and it’s a lie! They have nothing to do with this,” he said. Indeed he was most displeased with not only the quality of this line itself, but their attempt to falsely capitalize on the couple’s engagement. For those yearning to know, the ring was actually designed by Robert Mazlo, a jeweler from the actor’s chic Saint-Germain-des-Pres neighborhood in Paris. Former Rikers Island Prison Guard Admits To Getting Freaky With Inmates While Selling Them Ecstasy, Cigarettes, And Booze

This lady had it all the way poppin at Rikers. SMH: A former city Corrections officer will likely end up behind bars after she admitted Thursday to having sex with an inmate and selling Ecstasy, cigarettes and booze while she worked on Rikers Island, officials said. Clara Espada, 41, pleaded guilty to third-degree bribe receiving — a D-class felony — and misdemeanor forcible touching. A criminal complaint says Espada had sex three times with a male inmate, who has not been named. He told investigators he slept with the officer and helped broker deals that netted the woman nearly $300 a week over four months, court documents show. Espada was arrested Wednesday after an eight-month investigation , the Department of Investigation said. The crimes were committed in the George Motchan Detention Center between July 2009 and January 2010, while Espada — who has worked for the Corrections Department since December 2004 — was earning a $76,488 salary. She was restricted from inmate contact and placed on modified duty in June 2011 when the investigation first began, according to the DOI. “Arrest, prosecution, jail time, and the loss of a valuable city job is the likely end for any correction officer who receives bribes to transport contraband into the city jails,” DOI Commissioner Rose Gill Hearn said. Under the plea deal, Espada — who resigned from her Corrections post earlier this month — is expected to be sentenced to six months behind bars followed by three years probation, the DOI said. R.I.P. “Disco Inferno” Singer Jimmy Ellis, Of The Trammps, Dead At 74

Another great talent has passed away . Jimmy Ellis, 74, lead singer of the Philadelphia rhythm and blues band the Trammps, whose hit “Disco Inferno” was featured in the 1977 movie Saturday Night Fever, died Thursday, March 8, in Rock Hill, S.C., from complications of Alzheimer’s disease, according to his daughter, Erika Stinson. Mr. Ellis grew up singing in church in Rock Hill before moving to the Philadelphia area, where he worked as a chauffeur and gardener. He also sang in bands like the Moods and the Exceptions, which scored a doo-wop hit in 1962 with “Down by the Ocean” on the Cameo-Parkway label. “Jimmy was straight out of church,” singer Bobby Eli, the guitarist who was a founding member of the Trammps and who played on all of the group’s recordings, said in an interview Friday. “The church never left him. And even for a church singer, he was unique. He had a scream on him that couldn’t be touched. He was the voice of the disco era for the Sound of Philadelphia, but he never wanted to be a disco singer. He considered himself a rhythm-and-blues singer.” The Trammps broke up in 1980. Mr. Ellis gave up pop music for a time and moved back to South Carolina, concentrating on gospel music. But he eventually returned to touring with the Trammps, working steadily through 2010. In addition to his daughter, Mr. Ellis is survived by his wife, Beverly; a son, Jimmy; and eight grandchildren. A memorial service was scheduled at the Central Church of God in Charlotte, N.C., for Friday, March 16. So sad. Alzheimer’s is such a terrible illness. When God said “Let there be light” we don’t think THIS is what he was talking about The Rev. Pat Robertson says America should legalize marijuana. Would Jesus agree? Msnbc.com put that question to a few theologians and religion experts, and the answer is … decidedly hazy. Robertson, the outspoken Christian evangelist and host of “The 700 Club,” made national headlines this week when he told The New York Times that pot should be decriminalized and treated like alcohol because the government’s war on drugs has failed miserably and is costing taxpayers billions of dollars. “I’ve never used marijuana and I don’t intend to, but it’s just one of those things that I think: this war on drugs just hasn’t succeeded,” he told the newspaper. Scholars disagree on whether the Bible lays down the law on use of mind-altering drugs such as marijuana, also known as cannabis. “It’s not so simple that you can just go to the Scriptures and say, ‘Hey, that (passage) says marijuana should be illegal,’ or ‘that says marijuana should be legal.’ There is no such passage,” says Father Thomas Reese, S.J., senior fellow at Woodstock Theological Center at Georgetown University. Some pro-pot Christians refer to Genesis 1:29 and interpret it to mean God does not frown on ingesting plants such as marijuana: And God said, Behold, I have given you every plant bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, which has seed in its fruit; to you it shall be for food. These guys were trying to relive Weekend at Bernie’s eh??? Two Colorado men who drove a friend’s corpse around town and used the dead man’s credit cards to buy drinks at bars and strip clubs have been sentenced to two years’ probation in Denver, KUSA-TV reports. Robert Young, 43, and Mark Rubinson, 25, had both entered into plea agreements after being accused of using 43-year-old Jeffrey Jarrett’s credit card and driving him around Aug. 27, 2011, in a real-life Weekend at Bernie’s case. Young pleaded to a felony charge of identity theft and the misdemeanor charge of abuse of a corpse. If Young stays out of trouble for the next two years, his felony charge will be dropped. Rubinson pleaded guilty to abuse of a corpse but could go back to jail for a year if he violates his probation. The two used Jarrett’s credit card at several bars, including the Shotgun Willie’s strip club, while Jarrett’s body was in the car. Jarrett had cocaine, Xanax, Subutex and trace amounts of alcohol in his system when he died. Subutex is a drug that helps with opioid drug addiction, KUSA reports. Rubinson says he thought Jarrett was just intoxicated. Young claims he didn’t want to believe Jarrett was dead. “A plea bargain is often the best circumstance to allow closure in moving forward instead of living in the past,” prosecutor Kandace Gerdes said Thursday. “I think it is important for closure for everyone.” SMH.
