Patti Page, a legend in the world of music who recorded 50 albums throughout her career, died yesterday in California. She was 85 years old. Page started singing way back in 1947, becoming the first successful artist for Mercury Records. She’ll likely be remembered most for the tracks “Tennessee Waltz” and “(How Much Is That) Doggie in the Window.” The artist achieved 19 gold singles and 14 platinum singles over the course of an impressive career, while also starring on her own TV show. In 1979, Page was earned the Pioneer Award by the Academy of Country Music and she inducted into the Grammy Awards Hall of Fame nine years later. The singer is survived by her son, Daniel O’Curran, daughter, Kathleen Ginn and sister, Peggy Layton. We send them our thoughts and prayers.
Amanda Bynes is threatening legal action over a celebrity news report that claims the troubled actress was wandering around a New York tanning salon naked. In Touch claimed Thursday that the 26-year-old was seen at Beach Bump tanning salon in NYC. Nude. “She walked out of the room completely naked,” a source said. Except for goggles, that is. There’s your awesome visual for the day. “She didn’t seem to care in the last that everyone saw her naked. She seemed totally out of it … There was definitely something wrong with her.” Bynes denies the report and is threatening legal action, Celebuzz reports. “I’m suing In Touch for printing a fake story,” the furious star said. “I’m not ‘troubled.’ I don’t get naked in public. I’m 26, a multi-millionaire, retired. Please respect my privacy.” Troubled or not, Bynes’ behavior has raised concerns. A string of hit-and-runs and DUIs and being photographed smoking from a drug pipe in of her car will do that. All those things actually happened, of course. This tanning story? Let’s just say that In Touch isn’t the most reliable gossip source. Just last month, Tom Cruise’s lawyer Bert Fields filed a $50 million lawsuit against the publisher for two stories that falsely claimed Tom abandoned daughter Suri, 6. You can’t sue someone for printing the truth, but Cruise clearly didn’t “abandon” anyone. As for Amanda Bynes , we’ll see if she makes good on her threat. [Photo: WENN.com]
Heidi Klum has made headlines in recent weeks for stepping out with her bodyguard and new lover, Martin Kristen . But the supermodel is in the news now for a far more benevolent reason: she is posing without any makeup in the name of charity. The image was snapped by photographer Rankin and taken on behalf of a new campaign that encourages women in Great Britain to go makeup-free on November 9 to help raise money for disadvantaged kids. “I am so proud to be taking part in this year’s BBC Children in Need BearFaced campaign,” the 39-year-old mother of four said. “Having worked in the fashion industry for a number of years, I am a firm believer of encouraging women’s empowerment. And what better way to do so than [by] supporting such a fantastic charity.” It’s a great cause. Of course, if you wish to see this beauty truly going all natural, feast your eyes on a Heidi Klum nude pic. Hubba, hubb a, huh, fellas?

We’re told this was an accident… but the Grand Ole Opry sent out a tweet to welcome Darius Rucker (you know…the former Hootie and The Blowfish singer turned Country Music Star), and they ended up looking pretty racist after you took a second look at the tweet. Somehow the Ole Opry’s PR peeps forgot there’s a 140 character rule on twitter and their #OpryNights got cut off. They basically ended up looking wrong and racial: LLS…whoops! We’d like to think this was all an accident but either way, they look like some good ole boys who love God’s country! Images via twitter/WENN
Miranda Lambert wondered if ‘Two and a Half Men’ star was ‘making fun of country’ with his 10-gallon hat and George Strait sing-along. By Kara Warner Ashton Kutcher presents at the 47th annual Academy Of Country Music Awards Photo: Ethan Miller/ Getty Images Ashton Kutcher’s attempt to be part of the country-music crowd at the Academy of Country Music Awards Sunday apparently did not go over as well as planned. The “Two and a Half Men” star was on hand to present the award for Female Vocalist of the Year, and he dressed for the occasion by wearing a black 10-gallon hat and country-western-themed duds. Before handing over the silver trophy to Miranda Lambert , Kutcher jokingly attempted to sing a few notes of George Strait’s classic “I Cross My Heart,” which has been met with criticism. Lambert tweeted late Monday that, upon further reflection, Kutcher’s joke might have been inappropriate. “Was Ashton Kutcher making fun of country or is it just me?” she tweeted . “Watching it back now and I’m kinda wondering?” Ashton himself took to Twitter on Tuesday (April 3) to clear the air with the country star. “@Miranda_Lambert I Am One Of The biggest country Music fans you’ve ever met,” he wrote. “Wasn’t making fun at all.” Country singer Justin Moore also wasn’t pleased with Kutcher’s outfit. “Seen Ashton kutcher at the acms tonight. What a douche!” Moore tweeted . “I don’t care for people making a mockery of the way country artists’ dress.” Us Weekly reported that Kutcher’s shtick did not impress members in the audience either. “People were just like ‘why is he here?’ He has nothing to do with country,” one attendee told the mag. “Nobody laughed at his dumb jokes, in fact he came off as rude. He didn’t mingle.” Whose side are you on? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Miranda Lambert

Country superstar declines Kevin McGuire’s prom invitation on Facebook — but she has a better idea. By Ryan J. Downey Taylor Swift at the 2011 Academy of Country Music awards Photo: Getty Images Taylor Swift has asked a fan to be her date to an awards show, and it all started on Facebook. Less than 24 hours after the sister of a leukemia-stricken New Jersey teen made a plea to the country star in an online video, Swift responded via her official Facebook page. “Kevin, I’m so sorry but I won’t be able to make it to your prom,” she wrote. “But I was wondering, the ACM Awards are coming up… Would you be my date?” Swift’s camp confirmed to MTV News that the Facebook post is legit. Kevin McGuire, an 18-year-old high school football star, has his sister to thank for the invitation. Looking for ways to support her brother as he underwent treatment for a relapse of the disease he was diagnosed with five years ago, Tori McGuire set up the “Taylor Swift Take Kevin McGuire to Prom!” Facebook page, which had nearly 100,000 followers at press time. The Twitter hashtag #TeamKevin had gotten the attention of a number of celebrities, including Perez Hilton, Travie McCoy, Michael Vick and Troy Aikman. “All throughout Kevin’s treatment he kept his character intact, remained playing basketball, and even started varsity football as a freshman,” she wrote on the Facebook page. “Kevin is known throughout the community as the High school’s ‘real life SUPER MAN!’ Tragically, Kevin had a relapse, and is now fighting cancer for the second time. Kevin is the kindest, most noble 18 year old a person could even fathom meeting, and throughout his ups and downs Kevin never even questioned ‘why me?’ Nothing, and I mean NOTHING brightens Kevin’s day more than Taylor Swift. Kevin DESERVES more than anyone a special event in his life.” Comments quickly flooded Swift’s post and new remarks appeared on McGuire’s Facebook page as well. “Congrats! The ACMs are way better than the prom!” wrote Connie Spross, a supporter. The 47th annual Academy of Country Music Awards are scheduled to take place Sunday, April 1, in Nashville. Swift is nominated for several awards, including Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Video of the Year. What do you think of Taylor’s response to Kevin?
