“L eaving Neverland ” premiered Sunday and Monday on HBO and the documentary shocked the world with graphic accusations of long-rumored child abuse allegations against Michael Jackson . Many people have been speaking out about the documentary, including Corey Feldman , who was a child actor when he and Jackson became friends in the 1980s. See Also: ‘I Thought It Was A Hoax’: Sparkle Talks R. Kelly’s Marriage To Aaliyah Feldman, who is most known for the 1985 film “The Goonies” told Page Six he was never assaulted by Jackson. “What happened with me [and Jackson] was strictly aboveboard,” Feldman said in the interview published Tuesday. “We’d be on the phone for hours. You’re talking about someone who has spent their life in the industry, who grew up in the industry and didn’t have a childhood and have friends and have sleepovers, I could relate. That was my life. We both came from abuse — abusive homes. There is not a lot of kindred minds that can connect on those levels or achieve the success he had. That was the common ground we shared.” He continued, “I am not saying they are lying. I wasn’t there. I can only go based on my experiences. Every victim’s voice must be taken seriously and must be heard. In no way would I ever intimate that I would want them to be silenced.” The 47-year-old added, “If God forbid these things were true, then there is a completely different Michael that I knew. I guess anything in the world of pedophilia is possible. All I can say is my heart goes out to both of them — and if for any reason the things are proven true, I would be in full support of them.” That said, he explained, “I don’t think we can go jumping on a bandwagon without evidence. That’s why there are court cases and cross-examinations … when [Jackson] was on trial [ending in 2005], he was cleared of all the charges … I don’t think anyone can take [the allegations] lightly, but I also don’t think we should go making a judgment on information we have that’s strictly conversation without backup.” Feldman blasted the parents. “To me, the most shocking and appalling part of this whole thing are the actions and misdeeds made by the parents of both children, and the decision to allow their kids to be unaccompanied in the presence of an adult they did not know and trust,” Feldman said. “As a father, I could not ever imagine allowing my child to go off with a grown man I did not consider as close as family without any adult supervision. Not even Michael Jackson. It comes down to trading your kids out for an opportunity, and making them the focus of your financial interests, as opposed to the child’s wellbeing.” Feldman did say he and Jackson slept in the same room, but the singer slept on a cot. Feldman tweeted Monday that the documentary was more like “la la” land and that it was one-sided. #Neverland OK I WATCHED IT ALL I KNOW IS WHAT I EXPERIENCED, & YES EVERY EXPERIENCE WAS THE SAME….RIGHT UP 2 THE SEX PART! THAT IS WHERE IT BECOMES LALA LAND, INSTEAD OF NEVERLAND 4 ME. WE NEVER SPOKE ABOUT SEX OTHER THAN A FEW WARNINGS ABOUT HOW SEX WAS SCARY, & DANGEROUS. MJ — Corey Feldman (@Corey_Feldman) March 4, 2019 HOWEVER I DO TAKE ISSUE WITH THE FACT THAT THIS WHOLE THING IS 1 SIDED W NO CHANCE OF A DEFENSE FROM A DEAD MAN, & NO EVIDENCE OTHER THAN THE WORD OF 2 MEN WHO AS ADULTS DEFENDED HIM IN COURT! BUT AS WE WILL NEVER REALLY KNOW, I ONLY HAV — Corey Feldman (@Corey_Feldman) March 4, 2019 According to TMZ , Brett Barnes , who knew Jackson when he was a child, threatened HBO with a lawsuit “claiming the documentary puts him in a false light and subjects him to ‘hatred, contempt and ridicule.’ Presumably, the lawyer is saying MJ supporters will target Barnes as a result of the documentary.” Barnes testified at Jackson’s criminal trial in 2005 and said he was never assaulted by Jackson. He also tweeted this in January: Not only do we have to deal with these lies, but we’ve also got to deal with people perpetuating these lies. The fact that they fail to do the small amount of research it takes to prove these are lies, by choice or not, makes it even worse. — Brett Barnes (@IAmBrettBarnes) January 30, 2019 In 1993, Jackson was accused of molesting a 13-year-old boy. In January of 1994, Jackson reportedly settled for $23,000,000. The accuser’s father committed suicide in 2009, five months after Jackson passed away. Jordan Chandler reportedly has never come forward about the allegations and supposedly lives outside of the country. In 2017, when choreographer Wade Robson accused Jackson of sexual assault—even though he’d said in the past the singer didn’t assault him—there was a hunt to find Chandler. According to The Daily Mail , he left the U.S. to avoid investigators. In 2003, Jackson was charged with seven counts of child molestation and two counts of administering an intoxicating agent to a 13-year-old boy. He was acquitted of all charges. That is a photo of Khloe Kardashian dressed as a pimp. She is carrying dog leashes that are wrapped around the necks of four Black women who—if we’re sticking with the theme, are dressed as hoes. The implications of this are numerous and negative—but also very symbolic of the relationship the Kardashians have to Black women. The picture looks like it was taken at a Halloween party, years ago. Still, it’s inexcusable for all parties involved: for the White woman who would treat her “friends” like this and the Black women who would allow themselves to be seen and photographed in this manner. Photo Credit: KD Photo London Name: Leah Vernon IG: @lvernon2000 Agency: Seeking Representation Claim To Fame: Not only has she been in ads on two continents Vernon has been featured in Cosmo , Buzzfeed , Yahoo Style , and The Detroit Free Press for her fashion sense and activism. When Leah Vernon was growing up in Michigan admiring the women presented as the height of beauty on the glossy pages of magazines, she had no idea she would one day be among them. The plus-size model, author, body-positive activist, and Muslim feminist didn’t see a clear path to the spotlight for a person who looked like her. “I was never represented so I thought it was impossible to be a model,” she told Hello Beautiful in an exclusive interview. “They would be thin and white with the long straight hair like you know really skinny very high fashion, and there wasn’t anybody who looked like me doing it.” The media taught her that “my body doesn’t fit the standards,” but that did little to restrain her “obsession” with the fashion industry. She wanted in and if being on the catwalk wasn’t an option, she would look to the other careers displayed during the hours and hours of television programming she was consuming on the now defunct Style Network . Photo Credit: Eric Puschak “I was like okay I’ll never be a model , so I’ll style skinny people and that’s the only way I’ll be able to be in the industry is by being behind the scenes.” A Detroit native with a noticeably eclectic style Vernon was ready to apply her ability to study and interpret trends to styling. She kept up to date “by looking at fashions in Europe or fashion in New York.” She said “I was heavy into Gwen Stefani at the time and the whole punk culture. I took inspirations from a little bit of everywhere.” She felt boxed out professionally, but social media and the rise of blogging introduced her to a way she could strike a pose for fun. Writing was cathartic and shooting was a way to express her creativity. “I did two photos shoots just for fun because I wanted to be a blogger, and I discovered the hashtag #plussizemodel. I was like there’s real plus size models out in these streets? So, and then I was like I’m gonna do two photoshoots and see what happens.” Photo Credit: Mike Edmonds What happened was thousands of women who also didn’t see themselves represented flocked to the images Vernon posted. As she became more transparent and connected to her body and spirit, they became more interested. As of publication Vernon has amassed more than 40,000 Instagram followers by simply being herself. “So, after that I kind of just like fell in love with what modeling meant or what it actually means which is showcasing beauty . I just started modeling and posting on Instagram and talking about cool shit and people started fucking with me.” She explained that her friend’s deception actually led to her first gig. “My friend actually ended up tricking me into modeling the third time she was like ‘Can you come to the store and style my models?’ I was like ‘Fo sho!’ So, I get there, and I bring all my shit and I said, ‘Where are the models?’ She’s like ‘You ARE the model.” Afterwards, she applied her stylish instincts to dressing in a way that aligned with her faith on and off the set. She maintains that she is “just as Muslim without” her hijab but after exploring what it meant to her, she decided to observe the tradition. “It took a long time for me to figure out what the hijab meant to me and it’s definitely a choice. I’ve come to terms with it. The hijab reflects who I am whether I wear it or not I’m still Muslim and its definitely not oppressive to me. It’s actually like my crown and I rock it hard.” Photo Credit: Victoria Kaempfe Like other modern Muslim women, she has found a way to express her style with her hijab, but no number of sequins or other adornments will stop people from having their opinions about the practice. “Some people it doesn’t matter what you do to a hijab they’re still going to be offended by it because hijab means oppression to them for whatever reason even though they’ve never talked to an actual hijabi before,” lamented Vernon. But as a grown woman who has found her place and makes her own choices , she isn’t intimidated by others’ prejudices.“People are going to say what the fuck they want to say about what you’re wearing so you might as well wear what you want to wear.” Photo Credit: Eric Puschak Interest in her style has prompted productive dialogues in the media and on her website Beauty and The Muse about femininity, individualism, sisterhood , and self-image. Her DMs are full of people wanting to know more about her decision. She can’t connect personally with each person but she encourages those she can to make their own choices and come to their own conclusions. “You definitely meet a lot of people who just are curious about it. So, it’s been cool to educate about it.” While she’s glad to be able to educate people it’s not always comfortable for her to do so in professional settings. “When I do ads a lot of people are not necessarily hip to Islam or what exactly my limitations are as a model. I was on set recently and I took off my hijab to put on another hijab that matched the outfit and this girl was like ‘You look cute. Why don’t you just model like that?’ and I was just like ‘I can’t do that I’m Muslim’ and she was like ‘I guess.’ It’s hard to not be offended sometimes.” It’s even harder in an adolescent body positivity movement straying further and further away from the roots that drew Vernon into the space. Once a force that threatened the ideal of visual hierarchy the community that overthrew the supremacy of Victoria’s Secret has now been infiltrated by quests for engagement that often include baring it all. “I’m not throwing shade, but I feel like some of them are doing that not necessarily for body positivity they’re doing it for likes and engagement,” said Vernon of the behavior that led Allison McGevna to ask if “plus size bodies can only be recognized and celebrated” when they are sexualized in Plus Model Magazine . She has no problem with people making their own choices as long as they’re examined ones.“I want to see liberated bodies if they’re covered or not,” said Vernon. Fortunately, she can always look in the mirror. Olympia Valance is an Australian actress who was on Neighbours along with every other Australian actress….because that’s just how Neighbors works…if you don’t do Neighbors you don’t exist….and I am not even sure if that applies to just actors, it may apply to every Australian, like how the Israeli 18 year olds need to join the Army, maybe every Australian at 18 has to do Neighbors…maybe not all in talking roles..but it is a right of passage to keep your citizenship and honor to your country…. That said, along with Neighbors, Australians are just wild and crazy and not just because I watched leaving Neverland and saw the Australian Michael Jackson impersonator weirdo 7 year old who MJ used to RIM….but because I’ve know Australians forever and they are this fun, funny, trashy, slutty, drunk….built on criminal DNA…raised in the middle of no where, far from Civilization….creating the debauchery that is everyone in Australia…even Steve Irwin and his Crocodile fuck that killed him… Point being…here’s some random Australian pussy…which is something you’d experience if you went o a bar in Australia…cuz that’s just the kind of women Australians are….the best kind of woman…. N BA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has used mementos from his storied basketball journey for a good cause. According to CBS News , Abdul-Jabbar auctioned off his memorabilia and some of the proceeds will be donated to an organization that he started that is working towards bringing STEM education to underserved communities. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar auctions off NBA championship rings and other memorabilia for STEM education https://t.co/9oo5YBZSzB pic.twitter.com/2wmQqmQEVJ — CBS News (@CBSNews) February 28, 2019 The Los Angeles-based organization—dubbed the Skyhook Foundation—was designed to make educational programming surrounding science, technology, engineering, and math accessible to underserved youngsters, the news outlet writes. As part of a collaborative effort with the Los Angeles Unified School District, UCLA and NASA, the foundation offers a program called Camp Skyhook which takes grade school students on a five-day educational experience in the Angeles National Forest. The organization has served over 4,000 students since its inception. “When it comes to choosing between storing a championship ring or trophy in a room, or providing kids with an opportunity to change their lives, the choice is pretty simple. Sell it all,” Abdul-Jabbar wrote in a statement featured on his website. “Looking back on what I have done with my life, instead of gazing at the sparkle of jewels or gold plating celebrating something I did a long time ago, I’d rather look into the delighted face of a child holding their first caterpillar and think about what I might be doing for their future. That’s a history that has no price.” He partnered Goldin Auctions to sell his items which were each worth thousands of dollars. Among the items that were featured in the auction were four of his championship rings, an all-star ring, an MVP trophy, and an autographed basketball from 1989. According to Bleacher Report , the items were auctioned off for nearly $3 million. Underserved communities across the country lack access to resources and funding for STEM education. It’s powerful to see Abdul-Jabbar use his platform to change that narrative. Source: SOPA Images / Getty This year’s Black History Month should go on record as the weirdest one thus far. To top it all off, a 54-year old Civil Rights Activist came out as the leader of one of America’s Biggest Neo-Nazi groups with plans to destroy it from the inside. James Hart Stern has been named as the director and president of National Socialist Movement (NSM) after taking over for their former leader Jeff Schoep. Stern told WVIR that he had “no official or casual relationship with this group prior to February 2019,” and therefore cannot be held responsible for their actions. In a video on his website , Stern stated, “I have personally targeted eradicating the [Ku Klux Klan] and the National Socialist Movement, which are two organizations here in this country which have all too long been given privileges they don’t deserve. It is the decision of the National Socialist Movement to plead liable to all causes of actions listed in the complaint against it.” The Nationalist group is being sued for conspiracy and negligence following their involvement in the 2017 “Unite The Right” rally held in Charlottesville, Virginia. No word on how Stern rose to power but…this should be interesting to watch unfold.
Might there be trouble in Royal paradise? Just a few weeks before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to become first-time parents?!? We can’t help but wonder about this possibility after something Harry said to his wife in front of many witnesses… The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were visiting Education For All, a boarding house supporting female education in rural communities in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco this week, when they were congratulated on their upcoming arrival. (Markle is due in early May with either a boy or a girl, neither the couple nor the Palace has revealed the gender.) “I wish to say congratulations for your pregnancy,” a woman in attendance told the supertars in a video shared by the BBC, to which Harry turned towards Markle and joked: “Wait, you’re pregnant?” Not a bad joke for any husband to make, right? Especially when said pregnancy is, literally , the most talked-about pregnancy on the planet. “Surprise!” Markle replied, prompting Harry to quip: “Is it mine?” Ummm… what?!? Did Harry really just ask Markle whether she cheated on him? We know this is a common joke for people to make when a woman is expecting, but it’s wildly inappropriate when you stop and think about it. Where, exactly, is the humor in speculating about your wife’s infidelity? Markle, of course, laughed at Harry’s seemingly harmless inquiry. Everyone knows he’s sort of a big jokester and was just aiming for a laugh. But is this really what Markle needss right now? She remains under fire from critics, members of the Royal Family and even her own so-called loved ones. Rumors of a feud between Markle and Kate Middleton have thankfully died down of late, but resentment remains over the way Meghan allegedly treated her fellow Duchess in the past. The former Suits actress still has a reputation for being an entitled American and we just don’t think Harry made the right call here in possibly alo giving her a reputation for being a disloyal spouse. The Royal twosome is currently visiting Morocco on a three-day trip; they arrived in the country on Saturday. The following day (Monday), Harry and his bride took a helicopter to the Atlas Mountains to visit a girls’ boarding house and talk to students there, which is where Markle received a henna tattoo to mark seven months of pregnancy. Because some folks are just always out to savage her, she received negative feedback for this decision as well. The poor woman simply can’t win. But she’s back in London now, settled in at home until the baby arrives. In the end, that’s all that really matters, wouldn’t you agree? Fans have been captivated by Theresa Caputo’s ability to speak with the dead for years thanks to TLC’s Long Island Medium . But it wasn’t just her special gift that kept them coming back season after season. Viewers became invested in the Caputo’s family life, including husband Larry and their two children. Theresa and Larry were married for over two decades and fans were shocked in 2017 when the couple called it quits . Even making light jokes that she ” should have seen it coming .” But now, Larry Caputo appears to have officially moved on following the divorce. The reality star got fans chatting on Thursday afternoon after he took to Instagram to share a photo with his new girlfriend. “Love my baby boo!” he captioned the shot which included a heart emoji. One follower was supportive commenting, “so happy you’re happy,” to which Larry responded, “Thank you so much.” But as to be expected, not everyone was so kind on the social media platform. “You should go back to Teresa,” one user clapped. “It’s a shame to throw 28 years of marriage.” Larry replied to the hater, “What’s the matter? You got nothing better to do? You must be miserable.” Back in July 2018, TMZ reported that Larry was seeing a woman named Connie Stauddy after they were spotted shopping together in Alabama. Connie allegedly was also going through a divorce which I’m sure helped spark up some conversation material between the two. Sources told TMZ that Larry and Connie first met when Connie reached out to Theresa for a reading. But after Larry’s innocent Instagram post, fans are beginning to miss him and Theresa together. The Long Island medium reassures us that she is more than ok and is spending her time focusing on family and work. In addition, she is traveling across the country for the Theresa Caputo live tour and the star is expected to return for another season on TLC. And when it comes to her ex-husband? “There is no purpose in being angry and being mad,” she shared with E! News . “We have over 30 years together and you just can’t forget about that. You know we still have to honor and treasure that and more importantly, respect that.” Besides, the two will be spending a lot of time together as they prepare to marry their only daughter, Victoria Caputo, who recently got engaged. “Victoria’s ENGAGED! Congratulations to my beautiful baby and her future husband Michael,” Theresa shared on Instagram. “Let the planning begin! #engaged #bridetobe #gettingmarried #longislandmedium.” Larry later joined in on the celebratory posts sharing, “I’m a happy daddy! My baby girl got engaged. I love you soo much Victoria and happy for you and Michael. Let me stop before I start to cry.” And while fans may not be entirely thrilled that the family is going through some dramatic changes, we can’t deny that they seem happy and content with their choice. People released a joint statement from the former pair that read, “After 28 years of marriage, we have decided to legally separate. We will always love each other and our two wonderful children.” “We are united in supporting each other and our family.” The two remain friends, even though they are living on opposite costs and focusing on moving forward with their own lives. And while Theresa may be single as of now, she jokes to E! about her future. “Let me finish getting divorced and then you can look for me on Tinder. How’s that?” .
C onnor Benjamin Littlejohn is still in grade school, but he’s already making moves in the literary world. The 10-year-old has penned his own book series for children dubbed Tag, You’re It! , Black News reported. Meet Connor Benjamin Littlejohn, a young reader turned writer whose book series called “Tag, You're It!” is inspiring people young and old! #blackpreneur #blackauthor #blackexcellence https://t.co/gfHCUeIKom — Black News (@BlackNews) February 20, 2019 Littlejohn—who is based in Washington, D.C. —started his book series as an avenue to channel his passion for reading and writing, the news outlet writes. A writing assignment given to him by his fourth-grade teacher sparked the inspiration for the series. The book series that he created is centered on a group of friends who battle monsters and zombies to save their town. Ever since launching the series last year, his books have been added to classrooms all over the country. Littlejohn says that he wanted to create the books so that children like him see themselves reflected in the literature that they read. “I’m really happy that my books are giving kids like me a chance to see themselves in fun stories,” he said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “I love to read and want to encourage other kids to read great books and maybe even write new books of their own.” Teachers throughout the country have said that his books have resonated with their students. “I purchased this book as a read-aloud for my 4th grade class,” said one of the teachers. “My students laughed out loud while listening and were inspired by the creative voice of this talented young author! The cliffhanger at the end left us all very eager for the second installment of the series!” There are many young Black authors who are making a name for themselves. In January, 7-year-old Georgia-bred author Nicholas Buamah had his book Kayla & Kyle The Walking Dictionaries: Election Day accepted into the Library of Congress. Buamah created the book in an effort to help youngsters build their vocabulary.
