Black Twitter Has Thoughts About Forever 21 Potentially Filing For Bankruptcy

Source: George Rose / Getty Ladies and gentlemen, it’s officially the end of an era! While many fashionistas loved browsing the racks at Forever 21 , we’re afraid that the retail giant may have to take a loss and file for bankruptcy. What does this mean for fans of the brand you may ask? Many locations may have to close their doors! According to Bloomberg , the company has been working tirelessly to avoid bankruptcy. “The company has been in talks for additional financing and working with a team of advisers to help it restructure its debt, but negotiations with possible lenders have so far stalled,” Bloomberg reports. “Focus has thus shifted toward securing a potential debtor-in-possession loan to take the company into Chapter 11, they said, even as some window remains to strike a last-minute deal that keeps it out of court.” Naturally, a bankruptcy filing would give the retailer a little bit of room to close down underperforming stores and help rebuild the business. However, this move may affect some of the biggest mall management companies. Bloomberg reports that if Forever 21 closes a significant number of stores, landlords such as Simon Property Group and Brookfield Property Partners (two of the largest mall owners in the country) may have trouble filling the vacancies. Most people blame fast fashion brands such as Fashion Nova and Pretty Little Thing for the decline of many stores. Some people also blame the fact that the brand has stolen images of hip hop stars and have even been accused of sending of diet bars with plus size orders as the culprit for its demise. While this all may be true, we can’t deny that consumer shopping habits change like the wind. In order for retail locations to stay ahead of the game, they must provide shoppers with what they need. While there is no word on the retailer closing any of its 800+ locations in Asia, Europe, Latin America and the U.S. at the moment, it hasn’t stopped shoppers from anticipating the inevitable. This move is definitely troubling for business, but Forever 21 shoppers are green with delight! The possibility of stores closing means one thing- closeout sales! In the meantime, Black Twitter has been on one since the news broke. Here are some of the funniest and real reactions:   1. Been walking around in forever 21 leggings with my ass showing through. Project Beauty Expo Is the Conference Every Brown Beauty Needs

Follow this link:

Source: Project Beauty Expo / Courtesy of Brittany Brown Beauties, are you ready to take your beauty routine up a notch? Well, get excited because Project Beauty Expo is coming! Founded by esthetician, creator and owner of Moneé Cosmetics and fellow Brown beauty, Brittany Brown , Project Beauty Expo (PBE) is a one of a kind experience that every Black woman can enjoy. The annual “part conference, part experiential inspirational wonderland” is an opportunity for women of color to celebrate and connect with indie brand founders, network with content creators, hear from beauty enthusiasts and learn about everything there is to know about natural beauty, wellness and healthy living. “In the billion-dollar beauty industry, there is no platform that provides women with the tools to prepare themselves to enter this market while also giving them an opportunity to be discovered,” Brown explained. “With the platform provided by Project Beauty Expo, emerging or existing beauty brand owners have the opportunity to learn how to better operate their business as well as showcase their brand to the mass market.” As Brown stated, PBE was ultimately created in an effort to increase the number of multicultural women in the beauty industry by providing a support group for those interested in growing in this space. Source: Project Beauty Expo / Courtesy of Brittany Brown Not only is PBE a place where women of color can connect and build, it also aims to provide education from industry experts and buyers such as Sephora, Target, Ulta, Shopify and more that are dedicated to sharing insights on how to ultimately grow your indie beauty brand. What started as small event in Washington, D.C in 2016 has grown to over 40 participating brands and 300+ attendees, and only aims to get bigger. This year, the expo is taking over the West Coast (LA to be exact) starting on September 14 th and is set to be unlike any other beauty conference you’ve ever seen before. “[This] is a very exciting year for PBE,” Brown told us. “Not only have we migrated our community across the country but we’ve also expanded our event to 2 days. We added a full of workshops and to equip our exhibitors and other interested beauty professionals with the resources and information needed to grow their beauty business.” What sets PBE apart from your traditional beauty conference is that it’s a space specifically designed for Black and Brown beauty curators looking to take their careers to the next level. While larger beauty conferences might overlook this talented group of women, PBE was created for and by Black women and is designed to make sure people of color aren’t forgotten in the beauty world. Source: Project Beauty Expo / Courtesy of Brittany Brown In the short amount of time that PBE has been in existence, it’s grown to not only showcase indie beauty brands but also offer opportunities for Black and Brown women, beauty bloggers, natural beauty fanatics and enthusiasts to connect, collaborate, and share. The goal of #PBE2019, according to Brown is to “equip founders with knowledge through carefully curated workshops and create an experience for consumers and beauty entrepreneurs to come together to support the next generation of beauty disruptors that lack visibility within the industry.” Take it from the experts, this is one beauty event you don’t want to miss! Middle Schooler Provides Classmates In Need With Clothes And School Supplies

A middle schooler from Louisiana is paying it forward by ensuring that his classmates have basic necessities to start the school year. To help students in need, 13-year-old Chase Neyland-Square created a closet at his school to provide them with free clothes and school supplies, CBS News reported. 13-year-old creates school closet to give clothes and supplies to classmates in need https://t.co/UCP3CBbjmD pic.twitter.com/pAre3ssKCa — CBS News (@CBSNews) August 30, 2019 Neyland-Square—an eighth-grader at Port Allen Middle School—came up with the concept for the project while participating in the school’s SPARK (Student Program for Arts, Recreation, and Knowledge) program. He and other students were tasked with developing ideas for social good initiatives that would benefit the school and the local community. Aware of the struggles faced by some of his peers, Neyland-Square decided to transform one of the closets at his school into PAM’s Pantry; a space that houses donated clothes, shoes, personal care and hygiene products and school supplies for students and their families. “I know that everybody doesn’t have things and I’m fortunate to have things that other people don’t have, and I look at it as sometimes, how would I feel in that situation?” he said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “I’m going to come back and continue working on PAM’s Pantry. I’m hoping one day I can turn it into a non-profit organization.” Initiatives like the one being led by Neyland-Square are needed. According to the National Center for Children in Poverty , 15 million children throughout the country live in extreme poverty and are unable to afford school supplies. Several youngsters are leading their own philanthropic efforts to help people in need. In celebration of their birthday, Alabama-based 12-year-olds Breanna and Brooke Bennett launched an initiative designed to provide care packages that include hygiene products for girls their age. In North Carolina, a 3-year-old entrepreneur donated the sales from her lemonade stand to help homeless mothers and children. Shaun King Calls Out Jay-Z Over NFL Partnership: “He’s A Proud Capitalist”

See the rest here:

Source: FayesVision/WENN.com / WENN News of Jay Z’s partnership with the NFL caused quite a few heads to turn when it was announced yesterday. In case you missed it, the NFL dropped a  press release  yesterday stating that the Roc Nation founder would be “entering into a multiyear partnership with the NFL to enhance the NFL’s live game experiences and to amplify the league’s social justice efforts.” “With its global reach, the National Football League has the platform and opportunity to inspire change across the country,” Carter said in a press release. “Roc Nation has shown that entertainment and enacting change are not mutually exclusive ideas — instead, we unify them. This partnership is an opportunity to strengthen the fabric of communities across America.” Text “RICKEY” to 71007 to join the Rickey Smiley Morning Show mobile club for exclusive news.  ( Terms and conditions ). He continued: “I’m really into action — I’m into real work. I’m not into how it looks. How it looks only lasts for a couple months until we start doing the work. I’ve been in this position many times. Take Tidal as a great example from five years ago. Now, people look at it today, people have a different outlook on it. But at the time, people didn’t see what was going on. So I’ve been in this position many times. I just show up and do the work, I’m not interested in how things look on the outside. Activist and writer Shaun King, who has been deemed rather problematic himself over the years, took to social media to call Jay out over the questionable business deal. They made him an offer,” King tweeted. “Jay Z is what I would call a woke capitalist. Woke describes his capitalism, but let’s be clear, he’s a capitalist, and if a good deal comes along, even if it means working with the NFL at the expense of Colin Kaepernick, he’ll make the deal. That’s what he just did,” he went on. “I don’t think Jay Z violated a single one of his core principles by making a deal with the NFL while they actively ban Colin Kaepernick from ever playing another game for the rest of his life. That’s all I’m saying. I wouldn’t do it, but I’m not Jay Z.” He closed by saying that Jay Z did not consult Kaepernick before signing this deal. “To be very clear… Jay Z DID NOT speak to or consult with Colin Kaepernick before he made this deal with the NFL. He openly said that to the NY Times. Sometimes people avoid advice and counsel that they know good and well will conflict with their money. ” If you are baffled by the move that Jay Z just made with the NFL then you don't actually listen to his music. Black Journalists’ Convention Increases Security After Racially Motivated Mass Shootings

Read more from the original source:

A VENTURA, Florida –There were some early morning jitters at the annual gathering for Black journalists in suburban Miami on Wednesday morning after a fire alarm briefly disrupted the event’s first day of panels and workshops. But the nerves of those attending the National Association of Black Journalists ( NABJ ) Convention here were quickly quelled when an evacuation was halted after it was announced that the alarm sounded because of some burnt toast. Amid heightened worries surrounding gun violence from suspected white supremacists targeting minorities, the nation’s largest organization for journalists of color kicked off this year’s gathering as the nation was mourning the nearly two dozen deaths from this past weekend’s pair of apparently racially motivated mass shootings . It was because of that, NABJ Executive Director Drew Berry said — and probably because of the racist rhetoric and attacks on the media by Donald Trump — that there were extra security measures put in place for the organization’s signature event. On Sunday, Berry sent a blast email to its members expressing his condolences to the victims of the shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, which took place this past Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Berry emphasized that convention security would be ramped up, a message that had not been sent to attendees in past years. “We met with local police departments and hotel security staff two days ago regarding our convention security needs including concerns fueled by the racial climate and recent mass shootings,” Berry wrote in part. “The security team is putting together substantial plans that include both visible and covert security details.” Multiple requests for comment from Berry, NABJ President Sarah Glover and other officials within the nonprofit organization were not returned. The convention began on the same day USA Today’s headquarters in Virginia was evacuated because of a report about an armed person that ultimately didn’t yield “evidence of any acts of violence.” It was just another example of journalists being on alert in a culture of mass shootings. Among a host of planned events over the span of five days, NABJ was planning a presidential candidates forum that was set to include New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker , South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg , Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld . The preemptive move by NABJ seemed to make complete sense after at least 20 people were killed Saturday in El Paso by Patrick Crusius , who said in a racist manifesto that he was against “race mixing.” Less than 24 hours later, Connor Betts opened fired in the Oregon District in Dayton early Sunday morning, killing nine people, six of whom were Black. Though authorities did not immediately confirm a motive, social media users theorized that Betts was upset with his sister, whom he also killed, for dating a Black man. Those shootings came about a week after Santino William Legan killed multiple people attending the Garlic Festival in Gilroy, California. Legan left behind social media posts that showed he may have been a white supremacist or at least sympathized with the racist movement. The president’s open disdain for many Black people, especially journalists, was also another likely reason for NABJ’s precautions. Trump has used dangerously racist rhetoric that’s helped to embolden white supremacist extremists to target prominent Black people and especially journalists. The president during last week’s Democratic debates turned his attention to Don Lemon , who the president has repeatedly called “the dumbest man on television.” Those insults toward Lemon may seem harmless, but another journalist proved Trump’s attacks on the media can create danger. Just last year, legendary journalist April Ryan , the 2017 NABJ Journalist of the Year, revealed that she was receiving death threats because of her coverage of the White House. Despite the current events and racial climate in the country, one attendee said he wasn’t worried and that he believed NABJ officials would do their best to keep safe a segment of the community that perhaps would not have otherwise felt protected. “With three mass shootings taking place over the span of a week, I’m a little on edge,” Victor Williams, a Cleveland television reporter, told NewsOne on Monday. “I don’t realistically see this problem going away anytime soon [and] unless something is done, it’s possible this could be a concern at all future conventions, [but] I’m confident in the planners of NABJ are taking extra measures to keep us safe.” SEE ALSO: Father Of Black Woman Who Survived El Paso Shooting Slams Trump: ‘Do Not Come To This City’ Ben Carson Suddenly Decides Not To Go To Ohio To Lie About Housing After Dayton Shooting [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3883613″ overlay=”true”]

Julia Banas Titties of the Day

Julia Banas is a model…living in New York stealing the American Jobs with her work VISA…. Doing the legal route of stealing the jobs…which is hilarious because as a blogger with the best blog on the internet that no one reads can’t get into the country to live in LA amongst all my friends in Hollywood…having luxurious parties sipping cocktails while talking about the pedestrians and peasants slaving away as we get to sit and stare at sugar baby tits…. So basically these models photoshop themselves into ads in their home country and their agencies vouch for them and the USA is like “bring them in” …where they sit and suck old rich guy cock…while actual workers willing to work can’t get it. Super fucking weird. Never met her – never heard of her – but I’ve seen her tits in high concept photoshoots. The post Julia Banas Titties of the Day appeared first on DrunkenStepFather.com .

Source: Leon Bennett / Getty We’re used to seeing Angela Bassett in more dramatic roles, but she’s flexing her funny bone in Netflix’s new comedy Otherhood . The journey, in turn, becomes a mission to self-discovery. MUST SEE:  Angela Bassett, Patricia Arquette & Felicity Huffman Star In Netflix’s ‘Otherhood’ All of which drew Bassett to the production. “It starts with the script,” she said in a candid chat. “That was one of the things that attracted me to this movie. My friends tell me I’m funny.” Basset chose to work Netflix, not because she needed an opportunity of course, but because they tell everyday stories when Hollywood can be so limited. “Our director and producer, they’ve been trying to get this done for 10 years. What stories are being told on the big screen goes through cycles. ‘We’re not doing biographies right now, or made for television movies right now. It’s great to have a place like Netflix where there’s such an array and something for everyone. We shot in New York City. It’s a love letter to the city. It was a wonderful experience.” Basset revealed she ultimately could relate to her character, which also influenced her decision to join the cast. “It had a comedic tone but was based in reality and I could relate being a mother. I relate being a girlfriend. I relate being a wife. I could relate on so many levels,” she said. “I thought this is something we don’t generally see but this is so real — the whole empty nest thing and who are you after the husband is gone and the children are gone. Depression is real after that for a lot of women. In families, sometimes the children are holding it together and everyone is focused on them. They’re fighting for their autonomy, and go off to college, who are you?” Bassett’s character and her Black son add some much-needed melanin to the Otherhood screen, which is important to Bassett who constantly reaffirms her children that they’re skin is beautiful. “It’s very important because the power of imagery and the history of this country and we know the scales have not been evenly placed and it’s very important, having a son and a daughter, that they understand who they are. That they are comfortable in their in skin that they’re skin is beautiful. For any woman, whatever skin you live in is beautiful but especially because it’s a life they have to live where they may not get a lot of affirmation in different rooms that they enter. They have to go in with confidence and come out with confidence. I just gave my daughter, I was leaving early this morning, a paper. I said ‘This is a little present for you because this is who you are little queen.’ It was an image of Nefertiti. So she should could always be proud of who she is and know that she is beautiful.” As for keeping herself grounded and motivated, Bassett offered the advice she gives her son, “When he goes off to the summer camp where he is a counselor at an autistic camp there are some days it’s a challenge. But that’s what it’s about, rising to the challenge and I tell him, ‘Yeah it’s tough, but find the good and praise it. It’s about your attitude and how you look t the situation. You won’t like it all but there’s a lesson in it.” Otherhood is streaming NOW on Netflix. ‘LHHHS6’ Recap: Apryl Has A Love Jones For Fizzle Pop

See original here:

Source: Leon Bennett / Getty Love and Hip-Hop Hollywood brings season six back by leading with the Apryl and Fizz drama. As we know, they’ve announced that they’re an official couple since #TheBlogs outed them because it was obvious that something was going on. Obviously, the road to their relationship wasn’t without mess. Moniece hates it and Apryl, and we don’t quite know where Omarion stands. So, we begin the episode four months before all that drama started, and before Fizz and Apryl stopped fronting about their feelings. J-Boog, and Fizz come together at the gym to prepare for the millennium tour. They also meet up with Spectacular from Pretty Ricky, who also was also on the tour. The thing is, Fizz and Omarian had a falling out probably about five or six years ago and haven’t really spoken since. Omarion has been quiet about Apryl and Fizz but he’s supposed to be on the millennium tour (and we know by now that he was), so the behind the scenes of this is going to be interesting, especially because Fizz said the only person he’s ever been friends with, in B2K is J-Boog. The rest is just business.  Speaking of Apryl, she’s back too, obvi. She says Omarian left her two months after she had their second baby and she doesn’t know why, and they’re currently in the middle of custody drama. But she’s glad to be back. She’s also filming around the time she was filling in for Melyssa Ford on Hollywood Unlocked so we’ll probably get to see some of her interactions with Jason Lee, who is also back as the mess bearer.  Princess and Ray J are back with their daughter Melody in tow. They’re still struggling to juggle couple time with parent time. Speaking of parent time, A1 and Ray J are friends again. A1 forgave Ray for spreading rumors that Lyrica slept with Safaree. Plus, they have new fatherhood in common and lean on each other for support. They meet up with their babies, and this is where A1 tells Ray J that he and Lyrica are not on good terms. Actually, Lyrica picked up and left him a couple of weeks ago and he doesn’t know if or when she’s coming back. She has been gone for 10 days thus far. Hold that thought because we’ll get her side of the story soon.  K. Michelle is back. She’s looking for a new house and working on her music. She has plans to make it big in the country music world. She also hired a surrogate because she wants to have twin girls.  Then we meet Brittany B a Grammy-nominated producer/songwriter with a long list of impressive credits on her resume. She’s also one of the youngest African-American women at Warner Music Group. Black Chyna stops by her office to let her know that she wants her music career to jump off and Brittany plans to help.  Back to A1. A1 and Jason Lee of Hollywood Unlocked are allegedly friends. So, Jason hits up A1 because someone sent him a video of A1 video chatting and flirting with Summer Bunni, an IG baddie. This video is supposed to be proof of A1 cheating on Lyrica with this woman, who was one of the women in question when Lyrica was pregnant. A1 says Lyrica knows about this (but she probably really doesn’t). However, he would rather this not be posted given how he and Lyrica aren’t cool right since this could make things worse. Jason Lee is in an interesting situation. If they’re truly friends then he wouldn’t release it, right? At the same time, there are no friends in Hollywood. Jason chases exclusives so of course, he’s going to post it. He tells A1 that he’ll give him some time to warn Lyrica first. None of this is going to go well.  When Lyrica gets back to LA she explains her side of things to her mom, who has been helping with watching her baby. Basically, she left because she felt like she was dealing with a lot. She was tired of the rumors about her and Safaree and over A1 cheating on her. Apparently, A1 has been flewing (yes, flewing) chicks out, paying for boob jobs and all kinds of stuff. When they see each other face to face, this just turns into another argument that goes so left that A1 decides not to tell her about the video because she’s already super pissed.  So, because we know what show this is, then you can already assume that Jason Lee ends up releasing the video. Let’s fast forward a bit to yet another conversation gone wrong with Lyrica and A1. This one happens over the phone because A1 decides to go on tour with T-Pain without telling Lyrica. That pisses her off. So, she questions why he didn’t tell her he left. He just turns things around on her and asks why she left him for two weeks and didn’t say anything. Then she asks why he didn’t say anything about the video. And he tries to turn things around on her again, asking her why she has been reading #TheBlogs.  Finally, the episode winds down with Apryl and Moniece coming face to face, again, to chat about whatever it is they’re not feeling about each other. Basically,. This is fall out from their social media war. Apryl feels like Moniece lashed out at her first. Moniece feels differently and says she’s not the aggressor, and she’s tired of people looking at her as this bitter baby mama. Then she declares, “NO ONE’S GOING TO SIT IN MY FACE EVER AGAIN AND TELL ME ABOUT THE FATHER OF MY CHILD!”  Annnnnnd scene.  You know they had to leave us hanging for drama’s sake. There will be more where that came from next week because Apryl and Moniece have to finish this discussion.  RELATED POSTS ‘LHHHS5’ Reunion Recap: Moniece And Princess Love Do The Unthinkable ‘LHHHS5’ Recap: A1 x Lyrica Look Forward To Starting Over

I was always the biggest girl in my friend group and I was always the biggest girl in class so I felt uncomfortable. But now that I’ve kind of grown into my own I feel more comfortable with my body and the way I look. I can tell that the guys that I date enjoy my beauty and who I am as a person, so it’s helped me to just accept who I am, come out of my shell and enjoy being looked at and complimented. I can take compliments now you want to tell me a compliment I can appreciate that now back then I couldn’t.” Her non-romantic relationships have evolved as well. Today her former critics are in awe of how she has expanded their view of what a ‘model’ looks like. “I think it’s like a new world to them and they never saw anything like it before. They’re very supportive now they see the vision coming to life and they’re very supportive of it.” DON’T MISS:  MODEL MONDAY: HBCU Dancer DaQuendra Elston Never Let Her Size Hold Her Back MODEL MONDAY: Ashley Chew Started #BlackModelsMatter After Seeing Fashion Week From Both Sides MODEL MONDAY: Ariel Pierre-Louis Talks Colorism And Classism In The Modeling Industry [ione_media_gallery src=”https://hellobeautiful.com” id=”3054173″ overlay=”true”]
