John Milkovisch has a different idea of recycling than the average beer drinker. In the 1970s, the Houston resident decided to put the thousands of cans he had saved in his attic to unusual good use: he cut each one open and began to wallpaper the outside of his residence. According to Ruben Guevara – the head of restoration and preservation of the Beer Can House in Houston’s Memorial Park area – Milkovisch’s goal was not to make his home into any kind of attraction: “He said himself that if there was a house similar to this a block away, he wouldn’t take the time to go look at it. He had no idea what was the fascination about what he was doing.” Milkovisch died over 25 years ago, but his wife continued to live in this unique home and her sons continued to update its beer can-based siding. Mary Milkovisch then passed away in the mid-1990s, but local nonprofit Orange Show Center for Visionary Art purchased the property about a decade ago began its own restoration, opening the home to the public. “It shows the human nature of the individual is supreme. You can take the simplest thing, and it can actually affect a lot of other people,” said Houston resident Patrick Louque. “It’s totally grabbed me, and it’s probably totally grabbed the imagination of more people than I could possibly imagine.” It is believed that Milkovisch saved 50,000 cans by piling up his daily intake of six packs in the attic for over 20 years. Granted, it sounds like the guy may have had a drinking problems. But tourists around the country can now be thankful he did!

The daughter of John McCain will anchor “Raising McCain” on the new network, which debuts on August 1, telling reporters on Friday that the series lets her “be crazy, be myself and talk about issues.” And those issues often upset Republicans. McCain believes we should legalize marijuana . She also says she loves sex, loves men and hates Bristol Palin . “I came to Pivot because I think there has to be some sort of middle ground between the Kardashians and C-SPAN,” McCain says. “I want to give people information but not talk down to them. I am so excited. This is the best thing I’ve ever done.” And while Meghan admits there has been “conflict” with her famous father over some of her past quotes, “he has really been a great champion of this show and believing that young people want more substance… “I believe in more than this country is being given in news and entertainment.”

Ryan Braun, the 2011 MVP of the National League, has been suspended without pay for the duration of the 2013 season as a result of failing the sport’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Braun did not contest the suspension and admitted to taking performance enhancing drugs in a statement. “As I have acknowledged in the past, I am not perfect,” Braun said in the statement. “I realize now that I have made some mistakes. I am willing to accept the consequences of those actions. This situation has taken a toll on me and my entire family, and it is has been a distraction to my teammates and the Brewers organization.” He continued: “I am very grateful for the support I have received from players, ownership and the fans in Milwaukee and around the country. “Finally, I wish to apologize to anyone I may have disappointed — all of the baseball fans especially those in Milwaukee, the great Brewers organization, and my teammates. Romany Malco Says Trayvon Martin Outrage Is A Product Of Divisive Media Coverage Despite all the discussions about race, prejudice, and gun-control that surround the George Zimmerman trial, Think Like A Man actor Romany Malco believes that the paramount issue in the case is dirty media politricks. He outlines his theory in a blog entitled “A Message To Trayvon Martin Sympathizers” Via HuffingtonPost I haven’t touched on the Trayvon Martin issue because race matters in this country are the paralysis of the American people. To constructively discuss Trayvon would require empathy, introspection and an understanding of America’s social and economic history. This is why the open forums we have seen thus far seem to fuel more ignorance and bias than reasonable debate. To be brutally honest, the only reason people are even aware of Trayvon Martin is because it became a topic within mainstream news and pop culture. Meaning: News directors saw it as a profitable, sensational story. Hundreds of blacks die annually in South Side Chicago without even a blurb. Trayvon isn’t in the mainstream news for any reason other than ratings and profit. The news coverage on the Zimmerman case almost implies that the killing of this young black man is somehow an anomaly and I resent that. In this country, if it isn’t streamlined through mainstream media and pop culture, it doesn’t seem to warrant national debate. Our “government” continues to wreak havoc on our civil liberties and there is little to no protest from the black community because of media diversion tactics that keep such pertinent issues out of mainstream media. But if Jay-Z or Rihanna were to make mention of it, we’d suddenly be jolted out of our sugar comas and protesting on freeways. My point being, people are up in arms about Trayvon based on regurgitated pundits and manipulated facts aired to elicit emotion while fueling America’s anger and division. That’s how you boost ratings. No different from Piers Morgan’s desperate rant over gun control when he knew his ratings were in the dumps. And from where I stand, anyone who still relies on corporate-owned media pundits to support an argument isn’t equipped to offer worthwhile solutions. People are using Trayvon Martin’s death as an excuse to project their own deep-seated issues with racism and will not be capable of intelligent, empathetic debate until they’ve cooled down and afforded themselves an education. Is Romany saying that people SHOULDN’T be upset or angry about the events surrounding Trayvon’s death and George Zimmerman’s subsequent acquittal?? Pretty incendiary stuff, but it ain’t over yet. My name is Megan, I’m from South Africa and in October 2012 at 2:00 in the morning, Justin announced that South Africa was included on his Believe Tour! I sat up all night screaming with my best friend because I couldn’t believe that he actually was coming to my country! I waited and waited for the tickets to come out and the pressure was definitely on. Unfortunately, I was in Thailand when the tickets came out in SA and I made my friends get me tickets. None of my friends could get, they all woke up at 3 am to wait in lines but they were all sold out. When my dad and I were booking the tickets all the way in Thailand, each time we pressed “Golden Circle” it would say “error.” I cried a lot and I was absolutely heart broken and I just kept praying to God. When we arrived back home in South Africa my dad got an email saying, “All your tickets have been saved.” When I heard the news I was so happy and thankful, I couldn’t believe that I was going to see my idol LIVE. I heard about a competition were you buy a SIM card and enter some digits, then you go into a draw and you can stand a chance to win M&G tickets. My mom gave me the SIM card as one of my presents for my birthday. Days past and I was all alone at home, when I got a phone call from some lady. She asked me for my name and she told me I had won JUSTIN BIEBER MEET AND GREETS. At first I thought it was a prank call but she was serious. I phoned all my friends and the vibe was just insane! On the 12th of May, the day of the concert, my nerves were kicking in. I still couldn’t believe that I was meeting Justin! While waiting in the line backstage, Kenny came out while taking Justin’s wardrobe which we saw, and we watched as he spoke to some security guards. The next minute Alfredo and Lil Twist came out. The line moved forward and it was almost time for my sister and I turn to meet Justin. No words could describe what I felt when I saw his face, my heart sank and I was just so over joyed. I walked into the room and as Justin took a photo with a family, he glanced, and looked at me. I walked over to him, hugged him and told him that he was my inspiration. We took the photo and I took his arm, looked him in the eye and I told him that I loved him. It was the most indescribable feeling and moment that I have ever had. I was so thankful and grateful because I never ever had thought that I would meet my idol. He smelt like heaven and he was absolutely gorgeous beyond words! I’m pretty sure he was caved by angels. They took us through backstage and I made it to the front of the Golden Circle. I just couldn’t stop smiling and I was filled with happiness. I BELIEVED and had met Justin Bieber. First I need to say like everyone else here, that I never ever thought in my whole life that I would be able to write my own Bieber Experience, but what I am doing now? I am writing my own MBE with a smile on my face! I have been a Belieber since 2009. My name is Veronica, I am 17 years old and I live in Denmark . Here is how it all started. When the Believe Tour dates for Europe came out, I screamed! “Copenhagen, Denmark,” I read. I decided to join BieberFever so I could get good tickets with my pre-sale code and I managed to get the best seats for my friend and I. This was finally my time to see my idol for the first time in my whole life. When the concert was coming closer I entered all the competitions to win a meet and greet, also the competition on BieberFever. My MBE happened on April 20th 2013 in Denmark, but first we need to turn back the time to April 19. Justin arrived to our country that day, so the Danish Beliebers were hyped. I was so excited. Me and 6 other girls found out which hotel Justin was staying at and we went there. When we arrived at the hotel, it was only us. All the other Beliebers were at a wrong hotel. We were quiet because we know how annoying it can be when people screamed loud, and especially for Justin. It was cold and windy that day. Two of the girls had to pee and asked a security from the hotel if they could borrow the hotel’s toilet. The security said yes and we saw the girls go into the hotel. Right after they came out, they smiled so big and said, “OMFG GIRLS, shh we need to be quiet, but listen.. Scooter Braun is in the building! He is in the lobby and he is sitting with his computer.” Holy shit, was this even real life? We couldn’t believe what we just heard. Suddenly a man walked out of the hotel. SCOOTER FUCKING BRAUN. The other girls and I ran to him and we all were like “Omg hi Scooter! Can we take a picture? How are you? You are so amazing!!” It was so crazy. He smiled and said, “Hurry up, guys! I have a flight to catch.” He took pictures with a lot of the other girls and was nice. I gave my phone to one of my friends and she took the picture. After he left, all of us girl hugged each other and we screamed so hard. He is the man who is the reason that Justin is a worldwide famous artist today! Then we were waiting for the train to pass and I looked at my phone and I was in shock. I opened my email and there was one new message. It was from BieberFever. We had won the contest to meet Justin! The next day around 4 p.m, we got in line for the M&G and went into a room. While we were waiting we saw Dan Kanter. Suddenly they start letting people in. The line was moving and I was getting closer and closer to Justin. People who had gotten their picture had to walk up at some stairs and I saw a lot of them crying. I looked at my friend and said “Omg, I can’t hold back my tears anymore!” She looked at me and said, “Veronica, please don’t! You don’t want to look like an idiot beside Justin, right?” and smiled. She was right. Now it was my turn. I went into the room and the first person I saw was Lil Za. He is so cute by the way. Then I looked to the left and I saw him. He was standing right there. My lifesaver. The person I have seen on pictures and videos and now he was in front of me in real life. Justin Drew Bieber. The time stopped for like 3 seconds. I looked at his face. He looked like a doll. A wax figure or something. I couldn’t believe my own eyes. He looked even better in real life. He doesn’t even look like he does in my M&G picture with him. Justin suddenly looked at ME. He smiled and he said “Heeeyy.” He indicated that I should come over on his right side and stand by him. He put his arms around me and I put my arms around his waist. I could feel his back. He was so soft. We looked into the camera and it went so quickly and suddenly we were out of the room. I started crying. I can finally say that I have met Justin. Justin Bieber. I have been waiting for this for so long. On April 20 I realized how much Justin means to me. I wanna thank Justin for everything. He has told me and the rest of this fan base to believe in our dreams, and he was right, because dreams do come true. Justin deserves way more respect from people. He is more than people think. He is the best idol you could ever ask for. Justin, if you are reading this right now, I just want to say, thank you so much for all the things you do. You have helped me so much through the hard times and to stay strong. I love you and I will always stand by his side no matter what. Thank you for everything.
