Paul McCartney helped stage a Nirvana reunion last night in NYC. During the 12-12-12 concert to benefit Hurricane Sandy relief efforts in the region, McCartney recalled how “recently some guys asked me to jam with them.” Those guys turned out to be Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic. “The penny finally dropped that I was in the middle of a Nirvana reunion” he said before Nirvana’s first-ever live performance of “Cut Me Some Slack” with Paul on vocals. Courtney Love is being sued for a former assistant who alleges malice, evil motives and despicable conduct on behalf of the Hole singer. Anyone surprised? Jessica Labrie was hired by Love in June 2010 as an administrative assistant / “forensic research aide” for $30 an hour. Not a bad gig if you can get it! Well, unless your boss is Courtney Love, a bona fide nut job whose own daughter emancipated herself and who makes Horrible Bosses quotes look tame. Long story short … do not work for this chick, bad job market or not. Among Labrie’s allegations, per the legal complaint: Love had her working 60-hour-plus weeks without overtime Love asked her to hire a computer hacker Love directed her to send fake legal correspondence Love promised to help with Labrie’s Yale tuition and did not, nor did she pay any promised bonuses or land her a promised job on the set of a Nirvana biopic. Labrie also states that, in addition to repeatedly asking for the money she was owed, she voiced concerns about the musician’s unethical and illegal activity. The Fred Torres Collaborations gallery will host her collection of more than 45 pieces of art, drawn in various mediums including pencil, pastel, and watercolor.
Courtney Love is described as mentally unstable in newly released deposition papers filed by her daughter Frances Bean Cobain, who sought a restraining order in 2009. Frances Bean, now 19, says Love’s behavior even caused her pets’ death. Their cat kicked it after getting entangled in Love’s messy piles of “Etsy fabrics, boxes of paperwork, trash and other possessions,” according to the court papers, while the dog swallowed several of Love’s stash of prescription pills. In order to ensure that no other pets fell victim to Love’s pill-popping habits, Cobain included her dog, Uncle Fester, on the restraining order which was granted. Among those Love was ordered to avoid contact with include Cobain, Uncle Fester, Cobains’ grandmother and her aunt. The primary reason? Love’s drug use. “(She) has taken drugs for as long as I can remember,” Cobain said . “She basically exists now on … Xanax, Adderall, Sonata and Abilify, sugar and cigarettes. She rarely eats … She often falls asleep in bed while smoking.” “I am constantly worried that she will start a fire (which she has done at least three times to date) that will threaten all of our lives.” Cobain initially filed the restraining order and sought to emancipate herself against her mom in December 2009 following a physical fight between the two. Cobain spoke out about another bizarre incident that occurred several years before, when Love took her to visit Love’s former boyfriend, James Barber. “She took me in a taxi to his house in the middle of the night, and from outside the house, in her bare feet, she screamed at him, threw rocks at the house, threatening to burn his [expletive] house down,” Cobain said in the sworn statement. “His children were inside, but that did not stop my mother.” Mother and daughter have had a rocky relationship since the restraining order was granted, but Frances Bean Cobain is trying to move on with her life. She became engaged to Isaiah Silva , the lead singer of The Rambles, in October and the happy pair are looking forward to their upcoming nuptials. “Getting to spend the rest of my life loving my best friend makes me the luckiest woman in the world,” Cobain wrote on her Facebook at the time.
