What the hell is going on… is this the 60′s?: Not guilty verdict in case against ex-Houston officer Andrew Blomberg So the cops and people of America feel it’s just “kill black boy” season: A fired Houston police officer has been found not guilty of official oppression in the videotaped beating of a teen burglar. The Harris County jury found 29-year-old Andrew Blomberg not guilty of official oppression. He was fired from the Houston Police Department after a videotape surfaced of the beating of Chad Holley during his March 2010 arrest. Holley was 15 years old at the time of the beating and arrest. He was later convicted of the burglary. The jury began deliberating the case at about noon on Tuesday, and returned to their deliberation at 9:30am today. They returned a verdict shortly after 11am. Houston Mayor Annise Parker said, “I do not agree with the verdict. No way he will ever again be a Houston police officer.” “This was a just verdict,” said KTRK legal analyst Joel Androphy. “Police officers have different boundaries than the rest of us. This officer was acquitted because police officers get extra benefit of the doubt.” Community activist Quanell X called the verdict not simply a miscarriage of justice, but an “abortion.” “They just said to black people that the police can do whatever they want to do and get away with it. They just sent a message to all of us that our lives don’t mean a (darn) thing in Harris County,” Quanell X said. The situation at the courthouse has been heated ever since closing arguments on Tuesday morning, and tensions escalated there after the not guilty verdict was announced. Blomberg was held in the courtroom for safety reasons for more than 30 minutes after the verdict was read. The situation in the hallway was described as ‘chaos.’ Outside the building, Blomberg told reporters, “I’m glad it’s over and I’m going home… just going to take a deep breath and reassess after this, see what I want to do.” Blomberg said that he would not seek to get his HPD officer job back. Ray Hunt, president of the Houston Police Officers’ Union, says he hopes there is no lingering commotion in community. However, Quanell X is reportedly calling for a protest, and suggests that ‘if people are going to be violent, then they’re going to be violent.’ Those speaking for the Black United Front reportedly said to “let justice reign in the streets.” The Reverend Robert Jefferon with the Cullen Missionary Baptist Church told Eyewitness News, “Yes, I do feel they whooped that boy unmercifully, and somebody should be punished, yes I do.” If convicted, Blomberg could have faced up to a year in jail and/or up to a $4,000 fine. Androphy adds that this verdict has sent a strong message to the prosecution that it’s going to be difficult to convict the three other officers charged in connection with this beating case. HPD Chief Charles McClelland released a statement which read in part: “I would like to thank the jury for their hard work and dedication in listening to the evidence and rendering a decision in this case. I understand that some will disagree with the verdict, and although no system is perfect, our system of jurisprudence provides appropriate safeguards to protect our freedom. “I also appreciate the citizens of Houston and trust that they will continue to express themselves in a manner that is respectful of the rights and privileges we all share. It is important to remember that the officer that was the subject of this trial is no longer a Houston police officer and that a separate and distinct administrative process has confirmed his termination from the Houston Police Department. He will never again be a Houston Police Officer.” Mayor Parker also said that the actions of the officers allegedly involved in the beating don’t represent the thousands of other officers in HPD. Harris Co. District Attorney Pat Lykos said in a statement, “Although, I respectfully disagree with the decision, I accept it and thank the jurors for their service. We have the best criminal justice system in the world. We are prepared to go to trial on the remaining three cases and request the court to set speedy trials.” Turn the page to see this foul in court celebrating and for the disturbing beating footage. Wow at them spraying Lysol on the kids for “dirty dancing”… Two parent chaperones at a Colorado high school prom sprayed Lysol on students engaged in “dirty dancing” and called several teenage girls “sluts and whores” for making it appear “they were advertising butt sex,” according to cops. The bizarre incident last month at the Manitou Springs High School resulted in harassment charges being filed against Jennifer Farmer and Hannah Rockey, both 42-year-old mothers who allegedly dispersed the disinfectant in a bid to pry apart underage revelers. Officer Scott Stone, who was working a security detail at the prom, told investigators that he had spoken with Farmer and Rockey after arriving at the dance around 8 PM. He recalled that the chaperones–who were dressed in combat boots, military fatigues, and military undershirt–noted that “some of the kids were becoming disruptive and were being explicit while dancing.” Farmer, a former school board member, reported that “she had ways to deter the behavior,” recalled Stone, who added that the woman noted she “would use Lysol spray, flashlight, or another unknown object” to deter students “from certain styles of dancing.” Both chaperones told the cop that bumping and grinding was “filthy” and “similar to what you would see on MTV.” After Stone agreed that some dancing could get inappropriate, the women remarked that students “are dancing like they are having sex with clothes on.” The chaperones, Stone added, then expressed concerns that the dance made the girls look “trashy, dirty, and whorish.” With that, Stone ended his conversation with the chaperones and walked around the dance. As for the spraying, the teenager reported that “Hannah Rockey then proceeded to spray Lysol at them, which got on their clothing, mouth, and eyes. The spray caused the students to cough and leave the area.” After hearing the girl’s account, a cop “obtained several witness statements” supporting the allegations against Farmer and Rockey. A school administrator told police that he had received reports from students that the chaperones had kicked several students out of the prom for improper dancing, and that both women were “spraying students with Lysol disinfectant who were dancing, and calling the girls ‘whores’ and ‘sluts.’” The administrator told cops that he then spoke with Farmer and Rockey, who both agreed to leave the prom. Farmer and Rockey were later cited for harassment, though the alleged spraying did not figure in the criminal counts. The chaperones “directed obscene language to another in a public place,” according to criminal complaints. Specifically, the prom chaperones were charged for calling some of the underage female dancers “whores” and “sluts.” The chaperones have denied the Lysol spraying. Farmer is scheduled to appear June 29 in El Paso County Court to answer the charge, while Rockey is due in court on July 10. We know kids can get out of pocket these days with their little nasty shenanigans, but spraying Lysol and rocking combat boots and military get ups to the school dance sounds a bit extreme! April Brown Double Amputee After Backroom Butt Injections Gone Wrong This is not worth it: April Brown was once a cosmetologist, fashion designer, and working mother of two daughters. She’s now a multiple amputee. She says hospitalizations after unlicensed cosmetic procedures led to life-threatening infections. Professionals removed her limbs last year to save her life. “I got the butt implants five years ago,” said Brown. “For five years, I lived in pain. Excruciating pain.” April Brown won’t identify the unlicensed practitioner who injected her with silicone. She will only say it was somewhere near Western and Manchester. Brown tells us, her own lack of self-esteem issues are mostly to blame. “They call it butt injections,” she says. “These things are done at pumping parties. They call it medical grade silicone but a lot of it is industrial grade silicone.” Brown’s case recalls similar incidents in Florida. But Brown feels she’s a survivor, empowered by the words of loved ones who feared she would die. “We don’t validate each other,” she says. “We really don’t know how our friends feel about us, unless we have very expressive friends.” Brown envisions a new career as a motivational speaker. Meanwhile, loving daughters Courtney and Dayne are grateful she’ll be home for Mother’s Day. All this over cakes? Turn the page to peep the disturbing interview with the victim… who sticks by the code of the streets AND WONT SNITCH!
