Fresh Prince Of Moves: The Best Videos From The #ICarlton Dance Challenge

More:

Source: NBC / Getty Can you believe that Carlton, er, Alfonso Ribeiro turns 47 years old today?   It seems like just yesterday we were laughing out loud at him as Will Smith ‘s corny, bougie cousin on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air — well, for some it was yesterday.   Alfonso has been in the business since he was a kid, but his role as Carlton Banks is what he’ll forever be remembered by.   He played Carlton so well that that’s pretty much all the younger generation knows him as, thanks to his infamous “Carlton Dance.” The Williams Family dance crew loves Carlton Banks so much that they kicked off a whole dance challenge in honor of him, called the #ICarlton Challenge. They killed it! And pretty soon, the rest of the dance world caught on. Like Fresh The Clowns crew.   Even moms in dance class took on the hip hop challenge. Not bad for ladies with babies in their arms.   It hit Korea too.   And it made the news.   But according to Instagramer Anti , he’s the creator of the #ICarlton song and challenge and wants the world to put some respeck on ’em. He even made a music video for it.   Anti may have created the song, but no word on who actually started the dance challenge. It’s still poppin all over the world now though.   We all know that once Wiz The Kid gets a whole of it, issa wrap for the rest of the dance world.   Hit the flip to check out more. via GIPHY

Tyler, The Creator Keeps It Real About Wanting To Be Played On The Radio

Source: Courtesy of Converse / Courtesy of Converse If anyone in the industry keeps it real, it’s Tyler, The Creator . And beyond his blunt realness, he’s also known to be quite the perfectionist with his music–so it should come as no surprised that he’s analyzed everything right down to the sound of his voice. In an interview with  GQ ,  the California native admits that he doesn’t think his voice fits in with the sound of  mainstream music. Tyler’s explanation comes in response to a question about why isn’t he bigger on the radio. He delves into his idea, explaining: “I hate my voice and I think—it’s not a full thought or theory yet—but I think there are certain voices that can make it into a mainstream world because of the tone that they’re in,” he breaks down. “People like Jay , ‘Ye , Drake , you know, Kenny [ Kendrick Lamar ]. It’s a world that their voice lives in. It’s not too high and squeaky, and it’s not too low and bassy, it’s not too abrasive and raspy.” Though The Creator doesn’t think his voice particularly fits into the world of mainstream music, he still wants to understand what makes those voices “work,” and how he can join in on the fun. “I’m still trying to figure out the science behind it. When I do, I’ll let you know, but I definitely don’t have that voice. And I f**king wish that I did” he says. Going back to one of the artists he mentions above, Tyler talks about his longtime idol and reveals the fact that he really did cry to a song off of Kanye’s new album Ye. He goes into detail about the track “Violent Crimes” and explains why it made him cry saying, “I always talk about chords and probably sound like a f**king dork, but since I was f**king 4 years old. I would always say it was a slant or it went up, ’cause I didn’t know what chords were, but it was a thing that music did that I just felt in my f**king body.”

Obama Delivers A Word On ‘Strange And Uncertain Times’ While Honoring Nelson Mandela’s Legacy

Obama travelled to Africa on Sunday where he first stopped in Kenya, the birthplace of his father. It is his first visit to Africa since leaving office in 2017. He delivered the speech on Tuesday a day before the official commemoration at the 16th annual Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture. During his speech, he warned against “strongman politics,” emphasized need for global diplomacy,  and delivered a message of hope directed at the youth. He began his speech recalling Mandela and his legacy. Obama derived many of his beliefs from Mandela–a man who changed the course of history as the first Black president of South Africa. Their lives, uniquely parallel, were not lost on the committee who asked Obama to speak at the conference. Prior to Obama’s speech Mandela’s wife, Graça Machel , told the crowd of more than 15,000 people that Obama is one of the “finest global leaders of the 21st century” and a “youthful symbol of transformative leadership.” Former Pres. Real Friends: Kanye West And Virgil Abloh Share A Tearful Embrace At The Latter’s Paris Fashion Show

Source: Kevin Winter / Getty Virgil Abloh ‘s very highly-anticipated debut as the Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear started on Wednesday at Paris Fashion Week, and a lot of his friends were there to see his big moment. Among the people in attendance was Kanye West , and this sparked an incredibly emotional reunion between the two Chicago natives. The affair included appearances  Kim Kardashian , Travis Scott and Kylie Jenner in the front row, along with Kid Cudi –who actually walked in the show. As the show ends and Abloh makes his walk down the runway following the models, the show was concluded on an emotional note as Ye and Virgil spotted one another. In the footage, the designer is seen making his post-show walk down the runway at the Jardin du Palais Royal. As Virgil nears the end of the runway, he excitedly spots Kanye, who extends his arms out for a hug. The two longtime friends then hug one another and can be heard sobbing as they reunite for what looks like the first time in a while. For anyone who has been following either of these guys for a while, this is a huge moment. Back in 2002, the pair interned together at Fendi, which led to Virgil then taking on the role of artistic director for Kanye’s creative agency Donda. During a recent sit-down with Charlamange Tha God, Ye  revealed that Virgil shared the historic news about his job at Louis Vuitton only “about two minutes before it hit the internet.”

Kate Spade Left a Suicide Note for Her Daughter: Report

A handful of new details have emerged in regard to the shocking and tragic death of Kate Spade . As previously reported, the fashion icon seemingly committed suicide inside her Manhattan apartment on Tuesday morning, with Spade’s housekeeper finding her boss’s body around 10:20 a.m. Spade was 55 years old. The veteran handbag maker reportedly used a scarf tied to a bedroom door knob to take her own life. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Shortly after this horrible news went public, Kate Spade New York released the following statement via its official Twitter account: Kate Spade, the visionary founder of our brand, has passed. Our thoughts are with her family at this incredibly heartbreaking time. We honor all the beauty she brought into this world. We can also now confirm that Spade’s husband was at the apartment when his wife’s body was discovered. Spade was one of the world’s most famous fashion designers. She was specifically known and respected for creating a line of handbags and jewelry in the 1990s… which blossomed into a fashion enterprise with over 140 retail stores across the United States. Kate got her start in the 1980s, working for women’s magazine “Mademoiselle” in Manhattan. Together with husband Andy (the brother of actor David Space), Spade launched Kate Spade Handbags in 1993; it eventually turned into a full-scale clothing and jewelry line. Spade sold her company in 2007 and took some time off to raise her daughter. However,  Kate then got back in the fashion game in 2016 by launching a new brand called Frances Valentine … named after her daughter, who’s now 13 years old. This is especially relevant and sad at the moment because The New York Post reports that Kate did, in fact, leave a suicide note. It mainly addressed her daughter, telling Frances that her suicide was NOT the teenager’s fault. A police source, meanwhile, told this same newspaper that the suicide was due to “relationship problems.” We don’t feel comfortable speculating beyond that. In response to this news, a number of celebrities have expressed their sadness and surprise on Twitter. Take fellow designer Liz Lange, for instance: The nicest woman, the first person to compliment me on Liz Lange Maternity when I first started. And the creator of the most iconic brand. I am heart broken by this news. And Chelsea Clinton: My grandmother gave me my first Kate Spade bag when I was in college. I still have it. Holding Kate’s family, friends and loved ones in my heart. And Tess Holliday: Kate Spade & her brand have always been so kind to me the past couple years & I’m crushed to hear about her passing. Suicide isn’t ‘the easy way out’ and shouldn’t be mocked. My heart goes out to her family & team today. And Ivanka Trump: Kate Spade’s tragic passing is a painful reminder that we never truly know another’s pain or the burden they carry. If you are struggling with depression and contemplating suicide, please, please seek help. If you or someone you know is in emotional distress or considering suicide, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255). Kate Middleton to Meghan Markle: Let Me Show You How to Dress, Bish

Depending on which tabloids you believe, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are either bitter rivals or the best of friends. In all likelihood, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle, but where’s the fun in that? Last week, there were rumors of Kate planning Meghan’s bachelorette party . We’d say it was a nice gesture that probably helped to make Meg feel welcome, but based on today’s news, we’re starting to think it was a Regina George power move. According to Entertainment Tonight , Kate has been advising Meghan on royal fashion protocol, which we’re taking to mean she’s going through her the actress’ closet and tossing anything she deems offensively fug. “Like Kate, expect Meghan to make the occasional nod to her husband’s fashion icon mother,” a royal source tells ET. “Both Kate and Meghan will no doubt honor Princess Diana with designs that reflect her likes and style.” The insider says Kate “has also been advising Meghan about royal fashion, what protocol is expected and how she may have to adapt in the future,” adding: “She has provided Meghan with names of some of the favorite U.K. go-to designers on everything from dresses, coats and the all-important British hat,” Ah, the Brits love their hats, do they not? It’s like a hundred years ago, one of them went to the Kentucky Derby and said, “This. But at every formal occasion.” Fortunately for Meg, the British fixation with fancy  chapeaux  might help her to avoid a potential crisis of decorum. We’re talking, of course, about the uproar over Meghan’s messy buns. We’ll give you a moment to compose yourself. Moving on… “There is no royal protocol for hairstyle,” the insider tells ET. “Kate often styles her hair in a casual ponytail at more informal events, and Meghan’s messy bun was an attempt to fit in with the young people she was meeting in a similar casual setting with Prince Harry.” Yes, the Brits apparently are not thrilled with the sight of Meg’s messy buns. Clearly, she should’ve stayed in America, where Kim Kardashian broke the internet by spilling champagne all over her ass. Elsewhere in the pre-royal wedding gossip landscape, Us Weekly is claiming that Meghan’s shady siblings are starting to be a royal pain in the messy buns, and no one knows what to do about it: “Meghan is really worried about some of these members of her family,” one insider tells the tabloid. “She hasn’t spoken to them in years. She’s lost sleep over relatives who’ve screwed her over. It’s the one thing she’s struggled with most since meeting Harry, especially after the engagement.”  Clearly, the only solution here is to round up Meghan’s relatives and have them made into hats. And that’s how you diplomacy, folks. View Slideshow: Meghan Markle: The Raciest Pics of Prince Harry’s Bride-To-Be
