Drake In ‘Tip-Top Shape’ For Take Care, Boi-1da Says

‘Lyrically, he’s gotten better,’ producer tells Vibe magazine. By James Dinh Drake Photo: Michael Caulfield/ WireImage Drake wasn’t kidding when he said he’d been “compiling some great raps” for his new album, Take Care — just ask the project’s collaborator/producer Boi-1da. In a recent interview with Vibe magazine , the hip-hop hitmaker — who worked heavily on Drizzy’s Thank Me Later and Keri Hilson’s recent effort — spoke about how impressed he was with the Toronto MC’s lyrical flow on the sophomore effort. “Man, 2011 is going to be a good year for music,” Boi-1da told Vibe . “Drake’s in tip-top shape, and what’s amazed me is that lyrically, he’s gotten better. He was already an outstanding lyricist, but now I’m just in anticipation of what people are going to think when they hear his new music.” The producer also revealed he gave Lil Wayne some beats for the rapper’s next project, Tha Carter IV . Boi-1da said Drake is trying to prove his credibility as a rapper more than as an R&B vocalist, saying the MC’s bars speak for themselves. “I know a lot of people had criticized him for singing,” the producer acknowledged, “but I think he’s just coming back to show people why they fell in love with him, like, ‘Did you forget about me?’ And it’s really coming out in his raps. It’s something I can’t even really explain.” Based on recent interviews, it seems as if the Toronto star is focused on making his sophomore effort much more than your average album. ” Take Care is its own mission,” he said during an appearance on Shade 45’s morning show. “I’m really going back to the So Far Gone where, first of all, as much as the label and people are fighting me, I’m not doing 14 songs, ’cause it doesn’t give me enough. I want to do interludes, transitions and different moments. I have an overabundance. I’ve never had this many raps.” Do you prefer Drake rapping or singing? Tell us in the comments! MSM Wall Protecting Obama Gulf Oil Spill Response Cracks With Latest AP Report

Perhaps it is frustration, as expressed by Anderson Cooper , with the new White House rules inhibiting reports about the Gulf of Mexico oil spill that is now causing a big crack in the Mainstream Media wall which until recently mostly avoided direct criticism of the Obama administration response. However that crack has now turned into a flood of surprising criticism coming from formerly friendly outlets such as the Associated Press. Read this amazing AP report and keep in mind that it is no longer just conservative sources that are harsh in their criticisms of the Obama Gulf oil containment efforts: NEW ORLEANS — BP and the Obama administration face mounting complaints that they are ignoring foreign offers of equipment and making little use of the fishing boats and volunteers available to help clean up what may now be the biggest spill ever in the Gulf of Mexico. The Coast Guard said there have been 107 offers of help from 44 nations, ranging from technical advice to skimmer boats and booms. But many of those offers are weeks old, and only a small number have been accepted. The vast majority are still under review, according to a list kept by the State Department. Ouch! But the criticism of the poor reponse of the Obama administration response to this crises becomes even more heated: A report prepared by investigators with the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform for Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., detailed one case in which the Dutch government offered April 30 to provide four oil skimmers that collectively could process more than 6 million gallons of oily water a day. It took seven weeks for the U.S. to approve the offer. Even the credibility of the Coast Guard is being called into question: Billy Nungesser, president of Louisiana’s hard-hit Plaquemines Parish, said BP and the Coast Guard provided a map of the exact locations of 140 skimmers that were supposedly cleaning up the oil. But he said that after he repeatedly asked to be flown over the area so he could see them at work, officials told him only 31 skimmers were on the job. Something seems to have shifted dramatically in the past few days in MSM coverage of this crises.  And was this the reason for the “transparent” Obama administration attempting to inhibit coverage of the Gulf oil spill?

Al Gore Accuser: Paid to Tell Her Story?

We reported her accusations in graphic detail last week, but Molly Hagerty, Al Gore’s sexual assault accuser, faces myriad questions about her credibility. Namely, that she went shopping her story for money years after the fact. Police in Portland, Ore., announced that they are reopening the investigation into allegations of sexual abuse against former the former Vice President. The accusation of unwanted sexual contact came from massage therapist Molly Hagerty , who was called to his hotel room at 4 a.m. on Oct. 24, 2006. Gore says he received a massage, but denies acting inappropriately. Hagerty says that he repeatedly forced himself upon her, despite her objections. He was never charged and the case was dropped due to insufficient evidence. It’s being reviewed, but there are reasons to be suspicious of Hagerty: Why didn’t she just leave? She said she feared she would be raped, a somewhat dubious claim in itself, or “accosted by some security detail,” when Gore had no detail that night. Why did she wait weeks to make her initial complaint to police? Hagerty waited six weeks to mention this, but she contends she told her friends immediately, and police may be interested in interviewing those people. Why did she cancel interviews with police regarding the case? Hagerty nixed three interviews with detectives about her criminal complaint. Three years later, Hagerty changed her mind again and decided to pursue it. Did she receive money to tell her story? The million-dollar question, possibly literally. Hagerty has twice been interviewed by the National Enquirer , which unabashedly and routinely pays sources. As the Rielle Hunter-John Edwards and Tiger Woods-Rachel Uchitel scandals prove, that doesn’t mean they lie. But it does make you question motive. Do you believe Al Gore sexually abused Molly Hagerty?

Eminem Says He Felt Like ‘Bugs Bunny’ In Rehab

‘I couldn’t concentrate on my problem,’ he says of getting attention from fellow patients. By Mawuse Ziegbe Eminem Photo: Getty Images Before Eminem even dropped Relapse last year, he announced plans release a follow-up called Relapse 2 — and then he totally changed his mind . Instead, come June 21, fans will be able to pick up Em’s new album Recovery (which was moved up a day after it leaked online ). Eminem recently explained the meaning behind the album title in an interview with The New York Times, revealing that it is a direct reference to managing his ongoing battle with prescription drugs. “Vicodin, Valium and Ambien and, toward the end, which caused my overdose, methadone,” Eminem told the Times when asked what he was recovering from. “I didn’t know it was methadone. I used to get pills wherever I could. I was just taking anything that anybody was giving to me.” The hip-hop superstar also opened up about his stint in rehab. “The first time I went, it was in Brighton, Michigan,” he said “The second time, I didn’t go to rehab; I just went to a regular hospital. I detoxed in the hospital, and then I came home.” Coping with addiction is a demanding process, but due to his celebrity, Em had to deal with a unique set of challenges. The always candid MC said that he later chose to detox in a hospital because his outsize stardom affected the way his fellow addicts in rehab interacted with Em. “I couldn’t go back to rehab. I felt like I was Bugs Bunny in rehab,” Eminem said. “When Bugs Bunny walks into rehab, people are going to turn and look. People at rehab were stealing my hats and pens and notebooks and asking for autographs. I couldn’t concentrate on my problem.” Did you prefer the Relapse 2 album title, or are you happy Em opted for Recovery instead? Let us know in the comments. Drake’s Family Tree Extends From Childhood Pals To Kanye West

Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Bun B and many others are also influential in Drizzy’s hip-hop journey. By MTV News staff Hip-hop phenom Drake might only be 23 years old, but his roots in the rap world run quite deep. His debut album, Thank Me Later (which dropped this week) is the result of years of studying with a handful of masters, toiling in the mixtape circuit and traveling across North America in an effort to synthesize his unique style and build his credibility. But who is connected to the man born Aubrey Graham? As you can see in his hip-hop family tree , there are quite a few branches in Drake’s musical story. October’s Very Own (Drake’s personal crew) Noah “40” Shebib : Drake’s musical partner produced the bulk of Thank Me Later , and in the past, he served as the rapper’s road manager, engineer and lifeline as he ran up thousands of dollars on his credit card for the two to follow Lil Wayne on tour while they worked on So Far Gone. Oliver El-Khatib : Oliver functions as Drizzy’s creative director, weighing in on the majority of decisions in the lyricist’s career outside the recording booth. He posts to the OVO blog frequently, highlighting the tastes of the collective, from fashion to music. Oliver introduced Drake to the music of now tourmate Francis and the Lights. Niko : One of Drake’s longtime friends from Toronto, Niko introduced the rapper to his own barber when the former “Degrassi” star needed a fresh look. The two are often together, and in his Thank Me Later album credits, Drizzy tells his friend he thought he was an only child until he met Niko, whom he calls “my closest confidant.” Instrumental Allies (Kick-started Drake’s career) Jas Prince : The son of legendary Houston hip-hop pioneer J. Prince, the younger Jas found Drake on MySpace and urged Lil Wayne to listen to the upstart artist. Lil Wayne : The Cash Money Records superstar took Drake under his wing and offered the then-unknown rapper recording advice, telling his prot

Michelle "Bombshell" McGee: I’m No Nazi!

Jesse James’ mistress, Michelle “Bombshell” McGee, is a Nazi. This is a proven fact. You don’t go all “Hail Hitler” in an entire spread full of Nazi photos and get the words “white power” tattooed on yourself for fun. Still, in McGee’s custody battle with ex-husband Shane Modica, she totally denies the whole Nazi/white power thing. Bombshell claims the following: “I do NOT have a swastika tattoo on me.” THG NOTE : Michelle McGee absolutely has a swastika tattoo – close to her genitals. It cannot be shown here for obvious reasons, but we kid not . Plus, look at this garbage. Really helps her credibility … Michelle McGee: Definitely not a Nazi. Not a chance . Bombshell also says in the court declaration, “I do NOT show my children how to ‘Nazi salute.'” As for the child block magnets spelling “white power” in her house? That “was NOT of my doing,” she says. “Friends of Shane’s did this and gave the picture to Shane upon HIS requested (sic) so he could use it against me in court.” Michelle McGee goes on to adamantly lie state that “I do NOT do any pornography in my house.” “I do NOT do any webcam ‘sessions’ with my children present.” Wow, how admirable. She’s definitely a Mother of the Year Award winner. Bombs took a brief break from posing topless online and sparring with Chelsea Handler (whose ” dumb bitch ” description of McGee is pretty accurate) to appear in a San Diego court yesterday, fighting in her ongoing custody battle. McGee claims her ex is making up all these allegations so he can get custody and move out of the county. Mmm hmm, he totally “made up” the pictures above.
