Justin Bieber Talks ‘CSI’ Cameo

The pop star is looking forward to reaching new audiences on the crime drama’s September 23 premiere. By James Dinh Justin Bieber appears on “CSI” Photo: CBS While he may cause a little mischief now and then , Justin Bieber is far more wholesome than the troubled teen he plays on the season premiere of “CSI.” In a behind-the-scenes video that also contains a few teaser clips from the September 23 episode, the pop star and “CSI” actor George Eads talk about working together. The teen sensation said he was confident that his legion of Bieliebers would enjoy the premiere — as well as the episode later in the season that would find him reprising his role as Jason McCann. “It’s going to be fun. There’s two episodes that I’m doing. It’s high energy,” he said. Bieber said that he has always been a fan of the show, as well as its spinoffs. “I liked it because you never knew what was going to happen. Now that I’m on it, it’s pretty cool,” he said. He added that his cameo would be boundary-crossing for both him and the show. “It opens a different audience to the show,” he said, “and it also helps me because a new audience that might not know me is now going to see me. So it works both ways.” The singer noted that working with Eads, who plays forensic scientist Nick Stokes, was his favorite part of the process. Eads returned the compliments. “He’s very popular and I know he’s very gifted,” said the actor. “But I think it’ll be cool for fans of his and the show to see him do some acting. And I’m kind of getting in his face, so it’s really cool.” The character of Jason, who the pop star describes as “kind of like a bad kid,” gets in Stokes’ face as well. In one scene, Jason tries to flip the script on an interrogation, asking Stokes, “Where’s your gun, your vest, your badge? You off work or something?” Another scene shows the teen watching a grueling fight. While Bieber says he had a little trouble remembering his lines, he definitely gave Eads a good first impression. “I told him, ‘Sorry we have to rehearse so many times,’ and he goes, ‘No, that’s all right. I’m a perfectionist,’ ” the actor recalled. If the “CSI” cameo doesn’t cure fans’ Bieber fever, they can look forward to seeing the pop star on the big screen in 2011, when his 3-D concert movie hits theaters . Did Water Balloon-Tossing Justin Bieber Take His CSI Role One Step Too Far?

Viral marketing gone haywire or simply a case of an actor losing himself inside the skin of a character? Yesterday, CBS offered the first living proof of Justin Bieber’s acting prowess as a bombing suspect in their all-too-brief promo for the season premiere of CSI . Today, though, comes word that maybe the music superstar took his role as a police-attacking rogue (“I was just gonna scare the cops… not blow them up!”) a bit too far.

Torture Fetishist Katee Sackhoff Joins CSI

Three years after CBS brass rejected Katie Sackhoff as Jorja Fox’s replacement, CSI producers have finally succeeded in casting the 24 alum in a potentially recurring role on the procedural. According to EW , Sackhoff will play “Detective Reed, a smart, tough, and feisty investigator with an acknowledged lack of sensitivity.” Sounds like a perfect fit for the actress, who told Movieline about her thrill-seeking nature last spring (she loves being waterboarded, fellas!). Look for Sackhoff’s character to appear during sweeps in November. [ EW ]

Justin Bieber ‘Will Make You Scream,’ Teases New ‘CSI’ Promo

Commercial shows teen star in jail for his ‘CSI’ role. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber in the promo for “CSI” Photo: CBS We already know that Justin Bieber will leave his sugary sweet pop image behind to tackle some darker territory when he makes his small-screen acting debut on “CSI” on September 23. But in a new promo for the episode, Bieber will have his fans screaming for an entirely different reason. Following shots of screaming girls and Bieber in his “Baby” music video, the promo voiceover says, “He’s made millions of fans cry tears of joy.” Then the tone of the commercial quickly changes to a shot of Bieber behind bars with a guard falling to the ground outside his cell. The commercial continues, “But this fall on ‘CSI,’ Justin Bieber will make you scream!” “It seems like I’m this sweet and innocent kid, and then it turns out I’m the mastermind behind everything,” Bieber recently told Teen Vogue about his upcoming appearance on the hit CBS procedural. As for his part in the episode, executive producer Carol Mendelsohn told MTV News recently that Bieber’s character, Jason McCann, is certainly a different kind of guy than Justin Bieber. “He’s a troubled young man, raised in the foster-care system, whose hard-luck life has left him scarred and angry,” she said. “At the end of the episode, we’re left with the question: Is Jason a good kid stuck in a bad situation or is Jason a bad kid hiding behind his cuteness? You can see why Justin was such a perfect choice to play this role. … It’s an explosive story.” In the Teen Vogue article, Bieber went on to say that if given the chance to have anyone play his leading lady in the future, he would love to see one of his good pals in the role. “Selena Gomez. She’s a good buddy of mine,” he explained. “She’s really nice.” Of course, in real life, there are plenty of women who would love the chance to be Bieber’s leading lady, and he has some advice for them. “Just talk to me. Ask me how I’m doing. Introduce yourself instead of yelling, ‘Justin! Justin! Justin! Can I have a picture?’ And don’t come up to me while I’m eating,” he said. “How would you like it if I came into your house and started taking pictures of you while you were eating? I hate that.” Related Artists Justin Bieber

‘American Idol’ Winner Lee DeWyze’s Debut Due November 16

‘I’m really proud of what I’ve done so far,’ he tells MTV News of yet-untitled album. By By Gil Kaufman, with additional reporting by James Lacsina Lee DeWyze Photo: MTV News The major-label debut from season-nine “American Idol” winner Lee DeWyze will be released November 16. So far, that’s about all we know about the yet-untitled CD from the suburban Chicago singer/songwriter, who beat out dreadlocked soul mama Crystal Bowersox for this season’s crown thanks to an all-American story about his rise from humble paint-store clerk to household name. The soft-spoken DeWyze, 24, has been writing and recording songs for the album while logging miles on this summer’s American Idols Live! Tour and said in a statement accompanying the announcement of the release date that he’s been “very fortunate” to record with some amazing songwriters for the disc. “I can’t wait for everyone to hear my debut album.” Technically, it’s his third album , but it’s his major-label debut, since he released two previous efforts on the small Chicago label WuLi Records: 2009’s Slumberland and 2007’s So I’m Told. On those discs, he honed the everyman, sensitive growl that helped him win “Idol,” where his slow and steady rise and humble demeanor catapulted him past season-long favorite Bowersox. MTV News recently caught up with DeWyze at the Los Angeles stop of the “Idol” tour and he spilled a bit of detail on the songs he’s been working on and the sound fans can expect to hear. “I’ve written on every song. … I’m more or less looking forward to showing everybody what I do outside of the show and outside of this. To be able to be my own artist and do my own thing, I’m really looking forward to.” He said he couldn’t talk about which artists and songwriters he’s working with but hinted that they were ones he’s listened to and is a fan of. “What’s really most important about the album for me is keeping it true to what I want to do and the kind of music I like to make and having it be real, not just some words thrown together,” he said. “I like to write about love and relationships and emotions and feeling … being down and up. I like writing about things that everybody experiences and to be able to put that into my music … it’s going to be fun.” As if the grueling “Idol” tour isn’t hard enough, DeWyze said he’s flying in and out of New York, Los Angeles and Nashville on his days off to write and record the songs. “I have a lot of say in it,” he said of crafting the sound and mood of the disc. “I have a lot more say than people would think. It’s going to be really good. I’m really proud of what I’ve done so far.” Though there’s no official title yet, DeWyze said he has a few strong contenders. “These are things I dreamt about doing years ago,” he said of working on a major-label album. “To be able to actually do it now is pretty cool.” There has been no word yet on the release date of Bowersox’s album, though the runner-up’s disc has typically hit stores a few weeks after the winner’s effort.
