Tastebuds.fm – a brand new dating service for music lovers

Tastebuds.fm is a brand new music dating website that matches potential partners based primarily on their tastes in music. It integrates directly with popular Internet music radio site Last.fm, allowing users to plug in their username and immediately populate their profile. There’s also the option to manually input your favourite bands when searching for matches. The site is the brainchild of Julian Keenaghan and Alex Parish, both members of London-based rock band Years Of Rice And Salt. The idea was born when Alex and Julian realised their guitar wielding wasn't having the desired effect on girls. They decided to use their coding skills to build a site where music lovers could find like minded people. While they were confident there was a community of people who would use this kind of service, they didn't bank on how successful Tastebuds.fm would be. Since the launch in June this year the site has amassed over 3,000 members, with hundreds more signing up each week. Check out the site at http://tastebuds.fm added by: azpaz

Ann Coulter: Obama Is Atheist, Not Muslim

Nearly one in five Americans think President Obama is a Muslim, according to a recent poll — but conservative commentator Ann Coulter says instead that he is an atheist. “The nonsense about President Obama being a Muslim has got to stop,” Coulter wrote on the conservative website TownHall.com. “I rise to defend him from this absurd accusation by pointing out that he is obviously an atheist.” Coulter, known for her brash, often humor-tinged commentary, wrote that the “only evidence for Obama's Christianity is that he faithfully attended the Rev. Jeremiah Wright's Trinity United Church of Christ for 20 years.” While 20 years of attendance at a church may seem like good evidence, Coulter ruthlessly slams Wright, reducing his sermons to “hate-filled demagoguery.” Coulter makes the case that questioning a public person's religion should not be out of bounds, pointing to Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, televangelists who were disgraced in a series of sex and money scandals, as examples of people practicing false Christianity. “No sentient human is required to take Obama's profession of Christianity any more seriously than if it were coming from a 1980s blow-dried, money-grubbing televangelist with a mistress on the side,” she wrote. After making her case about the president, Coulter declares, “All liberals are atheists… There's only one true Christian liberal in the country and that's Mike Huckabee.” added by: TimALoftis

Oil Rig Explodes in Gulf Of Mexico

(CBS/ AP) An offshore oil rig has exploded in the Gulf of Mexico, west of the site of the April blast that caused the massive oil spill. Petty Officer Casey Ranel says the blast was reported by a commercial helicopter company about 9:30 a.m. CDT Thursday. Seven helicopters, two airplanes and four boats are en route to the site, about 80 miles south of Vermilion Bay along the central Louisiana coast. The Coast Guard says 13 people were onboard the rig; all people are now accounted for and one injured person is en route to Terrebonne General Hospital, CBS News has learned. Ranel says it hasn't been determined whether the structure is a production platform or a drilling rig or whether workers were aboard. Ranel says smoke was reported but it is unclear whether the rig is still burning. Local media is reporting the rig is owned and operated by Mariner Energy Corp based in Houston. added by: TimALoftis

Stephen Hawking Says God Did Not Create the Universe: What Do You Think?

Famed theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking now says definitely that God did not create the universe or spark the Big Bang. In his new book, “The Grand Design,” scheduled for a September release, Hawking argues that the universe didn't need divine inspiration to come into being. “Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing,” writes Hawking. “Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists why we exist. “It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the universe going.” Do you agree or disagree with Stephen Hawking about the role of God in creation? http://abcnews.go.com/WN/stephen-hawking-god-create-universe-question-day/story?… added by: unimatrix0

Marijuana gateway risk overblown: study

Long-held fears that the use of marijuana will lead to harder drugs are overblown, according to new research from the University of New Hampshire. The research, in the September issue of the Journal of Health and Social Behavior, found that other factors, such as whether or not a person has a job, or is facing severe stress, are far more predictive of future hard drug use than whether they smoked pot as a teenager. “Employment in young adulthood can protect people by closing the marijuana gateway, so over-criminalizing youth marijuana use might create more serious problems if it interferes with later employment opportunities,” said co-author Karen Van Gundy. The strongest factor influencing the use of illicit drugs is an individual's race or ethnicity, according to the study. Non-Hispanic whites are most likely to use harder drugs such as heroin or cocaine, followed by Hispanics and then by African Americans.
