IT’S OFFICIAL: J_JAMMER HAS OFFICIALLY LEFT CURRENT

J_Jammer was a true legend on Current. THE GUY WAS A HERO! He was the most controversial user who some, myself included, loved/admired, and who others loved to hate. He appeared in many forms after, and some liked to play a game spotting him on this site. But no more. . . Like a select few of us here, he wanted to make Current better as the medium for intelligible, revolutionary, progressive content and enlightenment. He was further inspired to do so because Current has declined to an MTV-like state which started like 2 years ago (to which they fired the best people and hired actual mtv staff members). People who knew him knew that he was intelligent but a lot of people also felt that his comments were cruel and took his comments too personally. I have to say, first of all, that this is Current not Feelings. But when he said those things it was to prove a point, not for the sake of preying on the community as some have made him out to look like. J_Jammer was kicked out – which Nettle explains in the video – when he made a questionable comment, like the rest of us, but then he was ganged up on by hypocrites to get Current or their algorithm to delete his account – to which these hypocrites are guilty of the same thing: inappropriate, hate-filled comments irrelevant to the post, but they ganged up on him, which was just plain WRONG. As we know, this didn't stop him. . . . But the decline of Current itself, has now stopped him from trying. From now on anyone who you think is J, will not be J – it's official. To J_Jammer, I say: Current is dead, it's the new MTV. Cheers! Let us hope for finding new mediums for intelligence, progress, and revolution!!! Also, stay cool and take it easy, man. ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. {An excerpt from J_Jammer's Letter that he sent to a select few} “…. I won’t be coming back. As in once this name is dead I am done. I’m already done replying. So now all I have is replying to any private messages I might get. That is unless they are laced with arsenic, then deal is off. The site isn’t better than it was a year ago. It’s progressively getting worse and no one cares, so I’ve decided to stop caring too. It’s a waste of energy caring. There’s not a lot of places too post like Current that has the same fun people, but I’ll eventually find somewhere else. So be careful who you think is me, because after this—you’ll be 100% wrong. JJ or J_Jammer or however you wish to remember me…yeah you won't be forgetting.” added by: Aether_Vitae

Obama Forgot "New Direction" In Drug Policy; Sticks With DEA Nominee Michele Leonhart Despite Criticism of Raids

Obama is confident that Leonhart is the right choice, the White House staffer said, and that as of Friday the president wasn’t considering anyone else for the position. In other words, the response from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. to a chorus of concerns boils down to: Leonhart or bust. In response to this message, critics have pointed out that Obama is shifting his stance on marijuana policy. “It’s unfortunate — and outright baffling — that the Obama administration would choose someone for this post whose resume is so strongly at odds with the ‘new direction’ this administration had promised for drug policy in general and medical marijuana in particular,” the Marijuana Policy Project’s Mike Meno told The Daily Caller. “During the election campaign, and again through the Department of Justice memo in October, President Obama vowed to stop the outrageous Bush-era practice of raiding and prosecuting medical marijuana patients and providers who operate under state law. If change is what they seek, why would the administration nominate a Bush holdover under whom the DEA continues to raid the private property of citizens obeying state law? It makes no sense.” MPP and other marijuana activists have pointed to a series of raids the DEA conducted in California as recently as last month as evidence that Leonhart is continuing the Bush-era strategy of cracking down on medical marijuana dispensaries and growers, even if they are operating legally under California law. They say this conflicts directly with statements Obama made on the campaign trail, such as this one from April 2008: “When it comes to medical marijuana, I have a practical view more than anything. My attitude is that if it’s an issue of doctors prescribing medical marijuana as a treatment for glaucoma or a cancer treatment, there really is no difference between that and a doctor prescribing morphine, or anything else.” But the White House and the Justice Department both told TheDC that Holder’s memo does not give dispensaries carte blanche to grow or sell marijuana, and that recent raids don’t conflict with what Obama expressed while campaigning. “I wouldn’t say the memo ‘discourages’ certain raids,” a DOJ offical told TheDC. Rather, “it talks about prioritizing resources most efficiently.” And both the White House and the DOJ argued that the gist of the Holder memo was that the DEA would “not focus its limited resources on individual patients with cancer or other serious diseases.” Critics see the distinction between cancer patients who take medical marijuana and the people who sell them medical marijuana as hair-splitting. “Attorney General Eric Holder was crystal clear last year when he directed officials within his department not to waste federal resources interfering with state medical marijuana laws,” wrote FireDogLake’s Jane Hamsher in the open letter distributed by the Marijuana Policy Project. “Yet throughout the tenure of President Obama’s administration, the DEA’s raids have continued in a manner wholly inconsistent with the spirit of that directive. What part of ‘not a priority’ does Michele Leonhart not understand?” added by: Omnomynous

Warner Bros sues over Harry "Popper" condom…

IT'S not every movie star who has a condom named after them. But Daniel Radcliffe's Harry Potter has become a brand of condom in Switzerland and Warner Bros is not happy. The Swiss condom brand “Harry Popper” is reportedly being sued for copyright infringement by the studio. Gawker.com details the hubbub with a broken-English quote from the Swiss newspaper Bote: “For Warner Bros. is obvious: The sorcerer Harry Potter have a 'very positive image.' Condoms have no business there. Especially not now. According to Warner Bros. in November to plan the launch of the new Potter movie. Also a new video game is in preparation. The lawyer for Warner Bros. bluntly: 'The image of my client is in danger.' There is no denying the correlation between the latex protectors and the popular wizard movie. If the name didn't do it for you, the illustration of a condom swinging a wand and wearing round-frame glasses will. added by: eden49

Target Corp. and Best Buy Co. institutional shareholders urge Target to look at political giving

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A few Target Corp. and Best Buy Co. institutional shareholders weighed in Thursday on the flap over the companies' political donations in Minnesota, urging the boards of both retailers to increase their oversight of campaign contributions. Walden Asset Management and Trillium Asset Management Corp., both of Boston, and Bethesda, Md.-based Calvert Asset Management Co. filed shareholder resolutions with both companies. Together, the three firms control less than 1 percent of each company's outstanding shares – 1.1 million Target shares worth $57.5 million and 344,000 Best Buy shares worth $11.3 million – but they are moving the debate over the political giving to a new arena. “A good corporate political contribution policy should prevent the kind of debacle Target and Best Buy walked into,” said Trillium vice president Shelley Alpern. “We expect companies to evaluate candidates based upon the range of their positions – not simply one area – and assess whether they are in alignment with their core values. But these companies' policies are clearly lacking that.” The shareholders said the donations don't mesh with corporate values that include workplace protections for gay employees and risk harming the companies' brands. Walden senior vice president Tim Smith said such giving can have “a major negative impact on company reputations and business.” The Target resolution urges the board to review the effect of future political contributions on the company's public image, sales and profitability and to consider the cost of backing a candidate whose politics conflict with the company's public stances. The three investment companies together submitted the resolution to Target, while Calvert and Trillium filed the Best Buy shareholder proposal. One of Trillium's clients, the Portland, Ore.-based Equity Foundation, divested a small Target holding of 170 shares on Wednesday. added by: toyotabedzrock

Batman is a Taco Stealing Bastard

What kind of a world do we live in where a man dressed up as a bat steals my tacos? That is exactly what happened to an unlucky patron at a Taco Bell drive-thru. The man was waiting to receive his order when all of a sudden and faster than you can say, “Shark Repellent Bat Spray,” the caped crusader swooped in and nabbed the man’s gourmet cuisine. http://nerdreactor.com/2010/08/19/batman-is-taco-stealing-bastard/ added by: NerdReactorTV
