That’s clearly the case with Miley Cyrus and “Hunger Games” star Liam Hemsworth , who announced on Wednesday (June 6) that they are engaged. “I’m so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam,” Cyrus, 19, told People magazine. The couple have been dating for three years since meeting on the set of “The Last Song” in 2009. Australian actor Hemsworth, 22, Cyrus’ co-star in that film, proposed to the pop country star on May 31 with a 3.5-carat diamond ring. Earlier this year the couple denied that they were planning a wedding after Cyrus was spotted with what some thought was an engagement ring. Cyrus began dating Hemsworth shortly after ending a nine-month relationship with model Justin Gaston. It was been an up-and-down ride ever since, with a break-up in August 2010, a reconciliation and then another split later that year and a second reunion in April 2011. In an interview with Details magazine earlier this year, Hemsworth said he tried to be professional on the set of “Last Song,” but could not help falling in love with his co-star. “What happened happened, and we’ve been together ever since,” he said. “She makes me really happy. When you start, you want to be professional, but when you’re filming those scenes with someone and pretending to love them, you’re not human if you don’t feel something.” life is beautiful — Miley Ray Cyrus (@MileyCyrus) June 6, 2012 Early Wednesday morning Cyrus tweeted the phrase , “life is beautiful,” but has not made any further comments on the engagement. The couple will be busy in the lead up to their not-yet-scheduled nuptials, with Cyrus working on her fourth studio album and Hemsworth filming the movie “Empire State” in New Orleans. After that, he’s off to co-star in the thriller “Paranoia” with Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman and then work will begin on the second “Hunger Games” installment. I didn’t watch the Billboard Music Awards last night, because who cares really, but it looks like Miley Cyrus stole the show. I mean with her outfit, I doubt she won any awards. Here she is showing off her newly tightened up nineteen year old body in a really hot get up. So let me get this straight, this is a sports jacket that’s also a pair of short shorts or is she just not wearing any pants? Either way I’m good with it. She’s basically naked under a coat. Awesome.

Academy Announces Slate of Outdoor Events The Academy unveiled a new outdoor screening venue and a slate of summer movies set for June 15th through August 18th. The “Oscars Outdoors” series will devote every Friday night to classics and contemporary favorites aimed at adult audiences, and every Saturday night to family-friendly fare. So Lionsgate quietly — like, very quietly — released its long-shelved Miley Cyrus “comedy” LOL into 105 theaters over the weekend. Director Lisa Azuelos’s English-language remake of her own French hit from 2008 suffered for it, too, grossing a total of just $46,500 — less overall than The Avengers made per screen . LOL ‘s $440-per-theater average is by far the lowest of Cyrus’s career and something of a fork in the road for the young star, who must now decide if she wants to spend the next five years before she inevitably poses for Playboy either chasing down increasingly elusive theatrical opportunities like “Snack-Bar Girl #3” in the next Kevin James film or signing a stable four-picture deal with Hallmark Channel or… whatever else is out there. Critics weren’t kind, either. “That Lionsgate gave this star vehicle such a half-hearted theatrical dump May 4,” wrote Variety critic Joe Leydon, “speaks volumes about the dimmed wattage of toplined Miley Cyrus, whose charisma-free performance may in turn serve as a cautionary example for teen pop phenoms seeking to break out into ‘mature’ screen roles.” Meanwhile, Cyrus was introspective today on Twitter: Thank u so much for everyone who went to see LOL.
