Fabolous Says Exchange Of Twitter Quips With Jim Jones Isn’t Serious

‘The point I’m in, I’m focusing on career,’ Fab tells Mixtape Daily. By Shaheem Reid, with additional reporting by Rahman Dukes and Tim Kash Fabolous Photo: Def Jam The O.D.: A Mixtape Daily Exclusive According to Fabolous, the back-and-forth he had with fellow New York heavyweight Jim Jones recently on Twitter was no big deal — just jokes. It’s not going to lead into any dis records. The same day Fab’s “Body Ya” video hit the Internet, Jones tweeted about MCs he felt were biting his style. “I just seen another rapper’s video that look just like my chain gang n scarf,” Jones wrote. “Damn, I’m sonnin these n—-az. I guess my style might body ya. Lol.'” Loso came back on his Twitter page with more comedy, poking fun at Jones’ mixtape The Ghost of Rich Porter. “#iJustWannaKnoWhy the competition won’t stay #Dead,” he wrote. “Maybe I should [release] a new mixtape call #TiNc3 — Ghost of the Competition.” “#iJustWannaKnoWhy ni–as think they invented Louis Vuitton??” Fab wrote later. “#nowplaying — ‘You’re Only a Customer’ by Jay Z.” Jones came back with, “Can I at least get a thank u for gettin ur Twitter acct poppin? Lol. I’m out. I quit. I quit. Pow pow, play dead. Lol.” Fab spoke with us on Wednesday about the situation. He says he doesn’t see things escalating. “I don’t know where his comment came from,” Fab said. “I joked around with it too. It was kinda subliminal. “I think it’s definitely competition,” Fab added. “But you can say things — it gets taken out of context whether you meant it as a joke or not. It could have been his opinion, but it still was thrown the way he threw it. It could have been taken in the context of you taking a shot at somebody. But I had fun with it, I made some jokes. That’s it. I’m not looking at it as I got a really big problem or East Coast/West Coast beef. I cracked a couple of jokes about it. I’m not making a dis record about it. The point I’m in, I’m focusing on career. I’m branded as an artist. I’m almost 10 years in the game. Twitter dissing isn’t important. My last mixtape states where I’m at — there is no competition. That’s on Twitter as well.” Fab’s “Body Ya” — in which he kills everyone he comes in contact with just by being in the same vicinity — is just one of many visuals coming from his mixtape The Funeral Service: There Is No Competition 2. “I just shot ‘I’m Raw.’ Since we were talking about ‘raw,’ we went to a meat house in Brooklyn,” the BK native explained. “It’s also a story line, same as ‘Body Ya.’ The story line starts off with me working in a meat market. Definitely a great video. It’s a great visual for a project that was a mixtape project. I wanted to expand it a little more.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines . Related Videos Mixtape Daily: Lil Wayne, Jae Millz, Notorious B.I.G.

Miley Cyrus Says Next Album Has A ‘Techno Vibe’

‘It’s good to blast in your car,’ the ‘Last Song’ star says of her LP, due in June. By Jocelyn Vena Miley Cyrus Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage After her summer album release, Miley Cyrus wants to take a break from making music. But her fans still have that next album to look forward to before she focuses solely on making movies, like “The Last Song,” out Friday (April 2). So what can they expect from Cyrus’ next batch of new music? “My record is coming out this summer,” she said. “I’m excited about that. I’m looking forward to that, and then hopefully I can continue to do more films. [The album is] a little different. It’s kind of poppier, but then it still has an edge. All of my music kind of has to. I think it’s really fun. It’s definitely a good summer CD. It’s good to blast in your car.” While much of Cyrus’ music has been more pop and even touched on country, she said this next album will have a bit of a Lady Gaga influence to it. “My new record has more of a techno vibe on some stuff. It’s fun,” she said. “You know, I just want to kind of do all different types of music, same as I do with movies. I never want to get stuck in a rut and just do one thing.” In addition to the music on her own album, she has a duet with Bret Michaels, “Nothin’ to Lose,” for his record. The duo got some heat for the song’s racy content, but Cyrus just brushed it off. “I’ve always been super into his music,” she said. “He was the first concert that I ever went to, and it’s great when you can find people you can jive with and get along with.” As much as she loves music, Cyrus said she’s ready for a break. “I have one more record coming out this summer in June, and then after that, I want to take a step back from music for a while,” she explained. “I want to continue to do film. Later in life, another record. But for now, I’d like to focus on movies.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Last Song.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Critics Slam Miley Cyrus, The Last Song

On more than one recent occasion, Miley Cyrus has said she plans on taking a hiatus from music to focus on acting. Let’s hope her future efforts on the big screen go better than The Last Song . A majority of film critics have come down hard on the movie, specifically citing Miley’s acting as “stiff” and “unconvincing.” Here are excerpts of what they had to say about the flick, which opens this week… A more convincing star could make this a degree more tolerable, although in Cyrus’s defense not much more. Allegedly, this is the film in which Cyrus gets all, like, dramatic. If by ‘dramatic’ one means pouty, sullen, and cute, then OK. — The Boston Globe Acting, for the moment at least, seems almost entirely beyond her… she pouts, slouches, storms in and out of rooms and occasionally cracks a snaggle-toothed smile, but most of the time she seems to be mugging for the camera, play-acting rather than exploring the motives and feelings of her character. — The New York Times Miley Cyrus met boyfriend Liam Hemsworth on the set of The Last Song. That’s about the only positive thing to come from the movie. It’s the worst of both worlds as Disney cash cow Miley Cyrus makes the most dubious “dramatic” debut of any singer since Britney Spears. — The New York Post As likable a performer as she is, Cyrus simply can’t act. Even Sparks’ formulaic material proves too challenging for her. — The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel All the obvious elements combine to manipulate the audience into a weepy time at the movies – again. — USA Today Will you go see The Last Song? If so, write in and share your opinion on the movie… and/or your advice as to what field Miley might wish to consider next.

Miley Cyrus ‘Sold’ On Liam Hemsworth After First Date

Cyrus tells Jay Leno about meeting ‘Last Song’ co-star and real-life boyfriend at Starbucks. By Jocelyn Vena Miley Cyrus on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” Photo: NBC Miley Cyrus had no doubt that she and Liam Hemsworth, her “Last Song” co-star and real-life boyfriend, would have chemistry after she met him for the first time. As soon as he arrived at Starbucks for their first “co-star” date, she knew that he was the right guy for her and for the part. “He’s cute. He plays my boyfriend in the movie, which is very convenient,” she joked when she stopped by “The Tonight Show” to chat with Jay Leno on Thursday. “I met him two weeks before filming. We went on a Starbucks date. That’s what you do when you meet your co-star that you have to be kissing for months and months and months, and I was sold.” That encounter made kissing him on the very first day of filming very easy. “[Our first kiss] was on the first day of filming in the movie,” she said. “We have this scene where we frolic in the water. So I frolic very well apparently, and after that I got to keep him.” Cyrus and Hemsworth have only been dating for about ten months , but she says that they’ve already checked out each other’s parents to see how well they will age in the future. “He looked good and he’s got a full head of hair,” she said about her beau’s dad. And as for her mom, Tish, Cyrus joked, “My mom’s hot, so …. No, I’m very aware [she’s hot]. I think that was the only reason why I had any guy friends.” Check out everything we’ve got on href=”http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/423507/moviemain.jhtml”> “The Last Song.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Miley Cyrus Prefers Kurt Cobain Over Justin Bieber

At the premiere of ‘The Last Song,’ Miley dishes about ‘American Idol’ and Bieber fever. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Ryan J. Downey Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth at the “Last Song” premiere Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images This week, not only did Miley Cyrus get to serve as a mentor on “American Idol,” but she also got to hang out with pop music’s newest idol, Justin Bieber, when both appeared on “The View.” But she admitted that her 10-year-old sister, Noah, was a lot more excited to meet the 16-year-old than she was. “Bieber fever … I’m not necessarily a fan. I don’t listen to that kind of music,” she told MTV News at the red carpet for her new flick, “The Last Song,” on Thursday night in Los Angeles. “I like Kurt Cobain. [He] is like my dream boyfriend.” Noah, however, was thrilled to get a very public shout-out from the “Baby” singer. “But my little sister was obsessed with him, and he actually gave her a shout-out on Twitter,” she said. “And I thought that was really sweet. So I was like, ‘Thank you so much. That meant a lot too.’ … He called her a cutie, and I haven’t stopped hearing about it.” Meanwhile, Miley was still thrilled about being chosen to mentor the Idols this week. “It’s cool. I was the youngest mentor, so I was excited that people really cared what I had to say and were inspired by me,” she said. “And it was great.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Last Song.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .
