Indonesian Island Rattle By Strong Earthquake

Associated Press — Indonesia hit by strong quake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.1 has struck Indonesia’s North Maluku province. There have been no immediate reports of damage and no tsunami warning has been issued. According to U.S. Geological Survey says Saturday’s quake was centered near Obi island at a depth of about 33 miles (53 kilometers). Area rattles by the earthquake is some 1,500 miles (2,400 kilometers) east of Jakarta. As per Indonesia’s Meteorology, Geophysics and Climate Agency, the quake measured 6.4 magnitude. Indonesia rests on a series of fault lines that make the archipelago nation one of the most earthquake-prone. A quake last year killed more than 1,000 people on Sumatra. Facebook Downtime Caused Twitter Traffic

It is no surprise to hear people vexed over minor problems such as Facebook. In Twitter, hundreds of tweets have been tweeted that Facebook was down last Friday evening. The first reports of the widespread outage began at 5:40 p.m. Eastern Time. As of, 6:05 p.m. EST, the site still appears to be down. UPDATE (6:10 p.m. EST): Service seems to be restored for most users. Here are some sample tweets from tonight’s outage: athletetraining: I find it amusing that the day after Facebook “takes over the web”, they are down. Heh. TreeDiva: Is it just me or has Facebook gone down on the pst 5 min? I can’t access it with either browsers or my BlackBerry app. pennylane3: why is facebook down in the school library? its finals week, i need my procrastination It maybe amusing but to some people, Facebook is their life. According to Hitwise said that in US alone, Facebook is the most visited site which is followed by Google then Yahoo Mail falls on the third. Yahoo come fourth and Youtube is is surprisingly fifth. Boeing 787 Undergoes Extreme Weather Test

US aerospace company deployed its Boeing 787 at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida to undergo extreme weather testing. The plane was sent to the McKinley Climate Laboratory for two weeks to conduct testing in temperatures raging from 115 to negative 45 degrees Fahrenheit. Flight test technicians will take the 787 through the steps necessary to prepare for takeoff once the plane stabilizes at either temperature extreme. Various sensors will determine if all airplane operations proceed as anticipated. “This testing is about ensuring that the airplane meets the expectations of our customers,” said Scott Fancher, vice president and general manager of the 787 program for Boeing. A Boeing 787 Dreamliner is mid-sized, wide-body, twin-engine jet airliner developed by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. It can accommodate 210 to 330 passengers, depending on variant. It is the company’s most fuel-efficient airliner and the world’s first major airliner to use composite materials for most of its construction. Rihanna Stumbled On Stage

thepianopages Rihanna showed of true prowess of professionalism Wednesday night when she stumbled on stage while performing in France.  She continued to sing “Let Me” and didn’t miss a note even her face almost kissed the stage. She managed to land on her feet and soon got herself up. It must be so tough for the Barbados-born R&B singer. Last Monday night, she was rushed to the hospital in Switzerland for an injured broken rib after a show. She was confined for only three hours when her publicist assured that Rihanna was fine. Her show in Zurich was unusual for musica reasons when she diverged her pop-rnb to sing Oasis’ “WonderWall” one notch lower and invited the audience to sing along with her. Her publicist hasn’t commented on whether her spill in France and her Swiss-hospital scare are related, but fans surely hope there’s nothing wrong with Rihanna-especially since her extensive Last Girl on Earth tour doesn’t wrap up until late August. World’s 1st Full Face Transplant In Spain Is Hailed As A Significant Advance By Transplant Experts.

According to United States media reports, there were 30 doctors completed the world’s first full-face transplant last month at Barcelona’s Vall d’Hebron Hospital. It is the most difficult total face transplant ever from world’s eleven (11)face transplants that had been made. It was been done for a patient from spain who is a farmer tha unable to breathe or eat on his own. His was injured and totally affected his face from an accident that he shoots himself in the face way back five years ago. As per report in AP on Friday, during operation and face transplant, doctors lifted his entire face which includes jaw, nose, cheekbones, muscles, teeth and eyelids, and placed it masklike onto the man. Upon completion of operation, the patient has a new face from hairline down. However, an scar which looks like a wrinkle runs across his neck. Anyway, thats only the scar he had after the full-face transplant. which looks like a wrinkle. After waiting for so long, the millions of Twilight Saga fans finally saw the new Eclipse trailer as it was featured in the Oprah Winfrey’s show. Eclipse is based on the book series by Stephenie Meyer. Eclipse is the third book of the series and the continuation of the first two hit-topping movies. In this third motion picture of the Twilight Saga, Jacob and Edward will battle together with their respective clans to win the heart of Bella. It will be a battle between wolves vs. vampires. Who will win between the two of them? The Eclipse movie is expected to be shown in theaters come June 30, 2010.
