Gabby Douglas Gets A Makeover During Her Trip to NYC

Shouldn’t we be happy for Gabby? We just wish this exciting makeover, given by celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson, wasn’t overshadowed by all of the negativity surrounding the Double-Gold Olympic Champion. Seems Gabby’s team put a plan in action once the star returned back to the states this week; one of her many stops was at Gibson’s salon: “I couldn’t believe it and still can’t,” Gibson, who has worked on the tresses of Anne Hathaway, Angelina Jolie, Kate Gosselin and Ashley Greene, told The Daily Beast on Wednesday about the criticism Douglas received over her slicked-back ponytail. “You have this young girl doing amazing things, and the conversation becomes about her hair? It was ridiculous and shameful.” Earlier this month, the pint-sized Team USA gymnast, who’s the first African American female to win the All-Around gold, shed some light on the trivial, tress-related matter. “They have no idea what they’re talking about,” she told Us Weekly. “We rotate from event to event so there’s no time for them to say ‘Representing the USA, Gabrielle Douglas’ and me to say ‘Yeah, thanks!’ as I’m brushing my hair. It’s so disrespectful! I’m not thinking about that. I’m thinking about bringing a gold medal home.” So on Tuesday, Gibson, who also lends his talents on What Not to Wear, worked his mane magic on the Virginia Beach native and gave her a hair makeover that the teen couldn’t stop gushing about: frizz-free, center-parted waves that fall a few inches below her shoulders. Gabby tweeted her excitement and thanks to Gibson afterwards: We’re all so proud of Gabby and her amazing triumphs in London. Hopefully this is the last time we have to talk about her hair! Lookin’ forward to seeing what’s in store for ya kid! Source Images via Twitter

Is Robert Pattinson Drunk Dialing Kristen Stewart?

The public will hear from Robert Pattinson for the first time since his split from Kristen Stewart when he’s a guest on The Daily Show this Monday. But sources tell In Touch Weekly that Stewart herself has been hearing from the actor often since news of her affair with Rupert Sanders went public. How so? “He’s been drunk dialing Kristen,” an insider claims. Friends tell the magazine that Rob has “been drinking like crazy,” since the split, which is actually the second time this assertion has been made . So, assuming this story is valid, what actually happens when Pattinson gets Stewart on the line? A lot of “dead silences,” this Robsten mole says. Another supposed know-it-all adds that Rob is clearly considering some kind of reconciliation, but “his friends are working hard to make sure that he doesn’t go back to her.” Do you think he should? Should Pattinson forgive Stewart?

Breaking Dawn Director on Robert Pattinson/Kristen Stewart Drama: Show Respect

By now, we all know what transpired between Kristen Stewart and Rupert Sanders , the actress’ director on Snow White and the Huntsman . But we weren’t sure how Bill Condon, the man behind the camera for Breaking Dawn Part 2 , felt about the scandal that has enveloped his upcoming blockbuster… until now. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about its upcoming Fall Movie Preview – which features an unfortunately ironic photo on the cover – Condon says Stewart and Robert Pattinson were nothing but professional, respectful and hard-working on set. They are also just regular people, despite the pedestal on which many fans have placed them. “The fact is, these are actors playing parts, and maybe it’s not such a bad thing that people be reminded of that,” Condon tells EW . “Both of these actors gave heart and soul to the Twilight movies, not only during shooting, but also by navigating so graciously the whole life-in-a-fishbowl aspect of the phenomenon. “Above all they have always shown great respect for the fans who made these movies such a success. Now it’s time that some of that respect be returned to them.” That’s certainly a fair request. Twihards will get their first look at Pattinson since the drama broke when he makes an appearance this Monday on The Daily Show .

Gabby Douglas’ Hair Sparks Debate: Why?

American teenager Gabby Douglas has been wowing the world with grace, style, and of course, the women’s all-around gymnastics gold medal . Nevertheless, much of the chatter on social media and online platforms has been about the upkeep of her hair, and not all feedback is positive. Douglas, one of the few African-American gymnasts ever to compete in the Olympics and the first to win all-around gold, is an inspiring story. Time and Sports Illustrated have her on their covers. President Barack Obama called to congratulate her. So why do people care about Gabby Douglas’ hair?! “I love how she’s doing her thing and winning,’’ says 22-year-old Latisha Jenkins of Detroit told The Daily Beast . “But I just hate the way her hair looks.” “With all those pins and gel … I wish someone could have helped her make it look better since she’s being seen all over the world.” “She representing for black women everywhere.’’ According to reports, the 4’11” Douglas appears to have chemically relaxed natural hair, to which she adds a human-hair ponytail for height. The Olympic champ then apparently slicks it all back with a heavy layer of gel to help it stay in place during her high-energy performances. Hair has always been something of a hot button issue for African-American women culturally, but in the case of Douglas, isn’t the criticism a little much? Douglas’ accomplishments speak for themselves … for the conversation to turn to a teenager’s physical appearance and upkeep seems a bit unfair. Do you like her hair? Does it matter? Tell us what you think.

Now Being Served at the Snack Bar: You! Australian Billionaire Wants to Clone Dinosaur for Real-Life Jurassic Park

Wanted: one hardy strain of dinosaur DNA and an endless supply of lawyers who don’t mind using outhouses. Gawker.com picked up a report from Australia’s Sunshine Coast Daily that local billionaire Clive Palmer is in “deep discussion” with the scientists who cloned Dolly the Sheep about producing a real, live dinosaur that he could house at an ambitious resort he’s developing in Coolum, in the state of Queensland. Palmer, who looks like he was cloned from the DNA of John Candy and Sir Richard Attenborough — he played Jurassic Park founder John Hammond in Steven Spielberg’s 1993 film adaption of Michael Crichton’s novel — also reportedly wants to build a fully functional replica of the Titanic, which suggests to me that this guy is just looking for trouble. I should also note that Queensland does not need an actual dangerous-ass dinosaur running loose since it is already home to a staggering array of deadly and venomous creatures i ncluding the Blue Ring Octopus, the Funnel Web and Red Back spiders, the Saltwater Crocodile and Taipan and Brown snakes. Palmer has yet to verify this claim, but is reportedly expected to hold a press conference on Friday. Stay tuned. Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter. Follow Movieline on Twitter.
